He is a recent rescue in our lives with a traumatic past and Maddy was very understanding. We visited this location to get some catfish for our tropical aquarium and we're so glad we stopped by! All the tanks were bright and clean and had no algae, snails, or dead fish. We could tell that the management and employees at this location truly care about all the animals, including the fish. I bring my client here since she got her cute kitten, Precious. After seeing that they have a kitten program, I thought it would be nice to look into it for my kitten, Sophie. They are so wonderful with Precious. They are gentle, talk sweet to her and she can feel the good energy and intentions that they have. They suggested a kitten program that runs my client about $77 a month for 12 months where it includes the spay and the check ups (only) at no additional cost. It sounded great! So I decided I would schedule Sophie an appointment since I needed to get her spayed... except Sophie was about a month past the age limit on their kitten program and they didn't offer any other program where I could pay monthly for similar services. I ended up canceling my appointment here at Bandfield inside Petsmart. After Precious was spayed, the medication they suggest (anti-inflammatory meds) IS NOT included for the monthly price. Flea medication IS NOT included in the monthly price, either... and when she vomited 2 days after her spay appointment, they offered to do a check-up which IS included in the monthly price, but if she needed blood work, that IS NOT included in the monthly price... So.... after seeing what was NOT INCLUDED with this monthly price of a year long commitment... I'm glad my Sophie did not qualify for the Petsmart/Bandfield program. I got Sophie spayed elsewhere and I don't have a monthly cost. I have access to cheaper flea medication. If she needs a check up, the cost is cheaper than the monthly payments my client is paying, as well as other services at adorable pricing. In my opinion, this year long of a monthly price commitment is not worth paying for when the same services are offered elsewhere for a much better price. read more

Very disturbing experience at the PetSmart in Roseville grooming salon. Staff stopped the service and labeled my cat "aggressive" after he bit an employee. (I would like to add in that I completely understand stopping the service when the employee was bitten) That behavior that is completely out of character for him. He was returned to me soaking wet, tightly restrained, a towel over his head, and extremely stressed (the groomer told me he was growling, which I have never heard him do). When I grabbed him he clenched onto me so tight and was shaking so badly. Once home, I found one of his nails had been cut far too short, with redness and what appeared to be fresh bleeding. No one told me this happened, instead they made us feel extremely bad and like my 11lb cat was a feral animal. Cutting the nail too short is painful (explains his reaction) and can lead to infection. The lack of transparency could have been detrimental if I hadn't noticed and monitored it myself. I would strongly advise against using the PetSmart in Roseville for pet grooming, especially for cats. I can assure you that PetSmart will not be seeing me or my baby again. read more

I brought my 1.5 year old gentle poodle to Pet Smart to be groomed by Christy. She didn't shave his tummy, she cut his toe nails super short and he's afraid now. But worst of all she called me when he was ready for pickup and said his tail was matted and she shaved his beautiful white tail! I was so upset, took a picture of my beautiful boy, showing his shaved tail and complained to the manager. He was very nice and said she shouldn't have done that and gave me a full refund! The groomers do not act like they like animals, I feel they see an easy pay check. One of dogs was treated badly and the other came back smelling like crap. When going to a pet store you never know if the person is going ti be someone who actually likes pets or is just there to make a paycheck, but Christina you can tell loves animals of all kinds, she helped me get set up with a hamster cage for a new hamster and showed me one who was adorable, she clearly cares for the animals there. She is also very knowledgeable about different kinds of animals like reptiles, fish, and small mammals in general. Took my Golden Retriever, Prada, here for grooming services. when the attendant first approached my dog, she was very nervous but he continued to force himself into her space until she was shaking and pinned in a corner. I was a little nervous to leave her based off the poor introductory etiquette but figured she'd be ok once we left, so we left her there for her appointment which they said would take 4 hours. about 4.5 hours later i received a voicemail saying my pet would be ready for pickup in about 30 minutes and that she was a little nervous but doing well for her trim, so i headed to get my baby. when i arrived to pick her up there was a bit of a line out the door so i waited for my turn. as i was waiting, i heard a woman from the Banfield vet area come up with paperwork and say to the receptionist that my dog could be released. I asked the groomer what had happened to my dog as i had received no notice of an incident where she had to go to the vet and she stated her foot just kept slipping off the table and then she slipped off and the employee caught her, but they brought her in to be checked anyway. They checked me out and comped my whole grooming service due to the incident, which seemed a little off for such a small incident. fast forward to the next day and i received a call from Banfield following up on Pradas condition and i asked what she had been evaluated for because what i was told didn't seem right and the vet confirmed the notes stated she had slipped off the table and had been dangling by her leash for a second. my dog is being so skittish now and i'm really upset i wasn't notified of the incident in the first place, let alone told she slipped and was caught when the notes clearly said she was dangling. i would NOT bring my pet here again, and recommend that you do not bring your pets here either. It was super unprofessional that they did not notify me, and when asked, they lied about my pets incident. read more

I am beyond disappointed in the treatment my 4 month old golden retriever received today. First off, I should have listened to my gut when the uneasiness began when I walked into check in. One employee was grooming a dog and actually singing a song about the dog and how difficult they were. It was only once she realized I was standing there that she changed her tune and began singing a more positive version. Second, I was told 1.5 hours, but it was 3, which didn't concern me until I realized how my puppy was treated. Third, when checking out with the groomer I learned that she was unable to trim my puppy's nails because he was too uneasy about it, that didn't surprise me because he is a puppy and it was his first time going to a groomer. I asked if the price for the package would be reduced since a service wasn't done, to which I was told no. When I began questioning this I was then told my puppy was aggressive and bit the groomer when she couldn't get him into the crate and shoved him in there. I should have clarified if it was a nip or a bite, but I was more focused on the fact that this said bite occurred as she was shoving my puppy into a crate. He has never shown signs of aggression with strangers, cats, dogs, and children ranging from 2-15. If he wasn't cooperating I would prefer a phone call to come get him rather than mistreating him when he was scared. Between this incident and the one of the other groomer singing a song about how difficult the dog she was working with was, it is apparent that not all of the employees understand professionalism and empathy for the animals that customers are trusting them with. Needless to say, I will not be returning. Update: I received an email after I completed a survey from PetSmart about my experience. I was very disappointed with my service at the salon for various reasons. 1. There was a major lack of customer service from the time I walked in. The workers seemed miserable while complaining about being there and the animals. Especially the tall woman with glasses and long wavy hair. It wasn't a friendly environment. The workers didn't even check my information on the services I wanted/filled out before asking me a bunch of questions. It would be one thing if it was confirming but clearly they didn't even check. Our cat is 23 years old, deaf, blind, and an able to groom herself. She started developing dreads and we tried to brush them out but she would take off running, and that was terrifying because she can't see. So we decided to take her to Petsmart. They told us that they might have to shave her dreads off which we agreed to. She has her own little house with a heated bed in it so no worries there. The problem was they just shaved her sides and back and left the dreads on the back of her legs and her underside. When I picked her up she was in her cat carrier and so I didn't get to see her until she got home. I was shocked and disappointed to say the least. See pictures below. By the way, this cost $77. The groomers know ahead of time and make sure they put them in a kennel together. Their furminator special is great for dogs who shed all the time. Drove two blocks away to Petsmart, showed them our dog & they were kind courteous, and adored of my dog. Made an appt for today & dropped him off this morning . They welcomed all 96 lbs of this drooling, licking / kissing majestic beast as if he were their own dog. AMAZING! They even alerted that he may have an ear infection so he was taken to the vet after his grooming & he did indeed have an issue with his ears.
