This review is strictly for doggy day camp/daycare, I was here yesterday Friday 8/25 around 7:15 AM. I brought my dog in for the first time and the experience was horrible. First of all I called the day before to see what I needed to bring and the girl that answered the phone ( Shannon, maybe?) was really nice but she forgot to mentioned that I needed to make a reservation for day camp. When I go there Friday morning 8/25 the two girl in entrance of the "hotel" (day camp/daycare) had shitty attitudes. Worst customer service ever, no " good morning" or "is his your first time?" Not sure of the name of the girl who assisting me ( was wearing glasses) was no help at all! I kept on asking her question and she made it seem like I wasn't able to ask anything, I told her I'm sorry for asking all these questions it's my first time! It was like she was forced to help me out, besides that I came all prepared printed out all the forms that I needed the day prior. The girl with the glasses told me that it was too late to have my dog join Day camp because I needed a reservation/ appointment which I had no clue about! She told me that they had day care and I asked her what was the difference or what's Included and she said that they get their own room and toys to play with. I said well ok since I was already near work and I couldn't go back home to drop off my dog. The point of taking her to day camp was to socialize with other dogs not to be in kennel for 8+ hours might as well leave her at home. Seriously Petsmart hire people with freakin personalities! People were coming in late looking hung over from the night before. Super unprofessional, no true dog lovers! I already had a bad feeling leaving her but like I mentioned it was too late to go back home; I should've done my research beforehand. Please DO NOT leave your dogs here for boarding (overnight) or day care!!! There are YouTube videos of ex employees recording what goes on ! You're paying for them to stay in a kennel majority of the time! They do not get those fancy looking rooms like they say they do! Take your pet elsewhere where there is actually people who give a shit! These girls were not help at all and this will be the last time I ever leave my pet there! Poor dog came back all wet for some reason and I asked what happened and the girl who brought her out said she didn't know and that the other girl who was attending the dogs went on lunch. People take your money somewhere else! Don't take your pets to these huge corporate places for day care or overnight boarding ! I felt horrible leaving her there right after I saw the YouTube videos( my fault ) I rather pay $5-10 more knowing she's somewhere cage free and socializing with other dogs. read more

If you are looking for an excellent dog groomer look no further than this Petsmart. I have been taking Lucy, my Cavalier King Charles, to see Joseph, her groomer, for quite a while now. She loves him and he seems to love animals. He is very good with her and she is always anxious to see him; in fact, she tries to push the door in to get to him. He will trim your dog exactly as you request. I like Lucy's coat short, especially during the summer when it's hot. Cavalier show dogs always have long fur, but since Lucy is not a show dog (don't tell her that) short fur is easier to keep clean; especially when she doesn't like to be brushed. Her fur seems to tangle and matted unless it is brushed often. I referred my friend who has 2 cavaliers to Joseph and she is also very pleased with his work. One thing I forgot to mention is that as good as he is he is also very fast. Don't hesitate to take your dog to this groomer. I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

I'm going to be straight forward in saying the place was pretty weak.... I came for help with my nephew's fish tank, and upon entering, everything seemed A-OK. We made our way over to the fish department and spoke with an employee who's name i am not sure of. (A forgettable person to say the least.) She seemed to only be interested in selling me something i didn't need. She also seemed very unsure of everything, and after a short time, i was considering leaving and going to pet-co. I was about to leave when i was approached by an employee named CHASE. Chase seemed to be the only guy in the place who knew a thing or two. I explained to him the problems my nephew and I were having, and he knew exactly what i needed, and exactly where to find it. He seemed to have a great command on the subject, and was VERY helpful in solving my problems. I came in here looking for a dog sling because my dog had surgery. I asked one of the associates for help to see if they carried it in stock when she was walking by. She is pretty much rude and when she answered yes it was kind of a rude yes like she didn't want to help me. When I was asking if they carried a dog sling she just had a puzzled look on her face and say what do you mean a dog sling what are you talking about with a bother look on her face like she was to busy to even help. And she asked if I can describe it to her and which I did. She said we don't carry those things here you have to buy them online and walked away. read more

Staff are very friendly and helpful. They really love and are passionate about animals and their care. I go to this Petsmart locations every week and not once did I have a bad experience. I recommend you head over here during the weekends because you will see adorable dogs and cats for adoption and foster care options are really appreciated. We got our first kitten here and the process worked very promptly and they follow up with you very well. The store is always very organized and clean. They have variety of brands for all kinds of pets so time goes really fast when you are shopping. I highly recommend this location over all the other pet stores in the area. read more

Menu 2 options were 2 for grooming and 6 for the pet hotel. Called a few times but Call recycled to main menu so 745pm chose Option 2 and someone answered and said we are open until 8pm. Marty cameon and had no idea Recording was saying they were closed. Yesterday I called and asked about pet wipes and Jonathan assured me they had them, with a urine retardant for my 18 yr cat. When I got there they had plain and citrus but not one Jonathan said they had. I bought some and left. The store emailed me to ask about my store experience. We have been taking my dogs to the Pet Hotel for almost 3 year and NEVER AGAIN. Horrible Customer Service from the Pet Hotel, Shannon The Manager. She has never been friendly but today during check out she was rude. No eye contact, no pet report card, not even a thank you for taking my money, and finally short with her own employees. There was a miscommunication as to when I was going to pick up my dogs. She told me that they have had this problem with me before in 2013 and from now on I need to only set appointments with managers. Really! I was not asking for anything free! I tried to ask what call center they were using. Of course she never looked at me or my dogs and just rang me up. Never again Pet Smart! Train your manager, Shannon, at the Pet Hotel. We've taken our dog to the PetsHotel in LB and our dog had a fabulous time. We had no reason to think that the same wouldn't be the case in Torrance. We were wrong. I had a feeling things wouldn't go well, after meeting the front desk staff. They were rude and bitc.....y We left our dog for 2 nights and her own food. She has severe food allergies. When we picked her up she had a limp, she was hoarse and couldn't swallow and the worst of it was they didn't feed her the food we brought. As a result, she was vomiting and had diarrhea. When I called to ask what had happened they denied there had been any problems...I would beg to differ. Our vet's response when I asked if we should take her back was "there are other places you should board her". We'll try LB pet hotel again, but never Torrance, ever again. read more

I love Petsmart for buying food and treats. I have had 2 HORRIBLE exeriences at the grooming service with my dog and my parents dog. Yesterday, we dropped off my parents dog and they told us she would be ready in3-4 hours we told them we needed her closer to 3 hours since they were going out of town they said no problem. 3 1/2 hours came and no call so I called to check on her. They told us they need 3-4 more hour to finish her. That is insane and just not okay. No dog wants to be there for over 6 hours. When we finally got her she looked horrible. They were yelling at other dogs and told us to step out because we were distracting as they were trying to get things under control. Who does that?! Our dog looked that she put her paws into a socket and her furr went into a ball. She didn't look like our normal dog. As for my dog.. I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN and I will make sure NONE of my friends and family members ever take their dogs there as well. I asked for the basic wash and cut of the face and booty area they said no problem. It was included in the basic package. Today, I go to drop her off and they said that whoever told me that was wrong and it was going to be $40 for basic trim and wash. I asked to upgrade and have a conditioner applied so she would be soft and they said the only way to do have that particular conditioner I wanted I had to add the top dog package (another $16) plus the conditioner I wanted (that would be anothre $6) for a grand total of $62 just to have shampoo, conditioner and a face and toosh trim.. I dont know about you but to me that is just INSANE... I would expect a whole lot more for that price. The girl started giving me attitude and asked what I expect. My pup looks OK... She still has stains on her face because they didn't clean her well enough, she didn't get the bow I paid extra for nor did she get the tooth brush that her package came with. So, what did I get.... ATTITUDE, some girl raising her voice at me and asking if they were going to take her or not, and a SHITTY HORRIBLE HALF ass wash.... Her hair was barely cut and her face still isn't clean... If I were anyone reading this I would never think twice about going here for grooming service. For all you know, its going to be your dog that they are screaming "BAD DOG" and "SHUT UP" to and having the manager ask "what is it that you want me to do about it" I want you to take care of the problem. After all isn't a manager suppose to make sure you leave happy and not extremely unhappy and irrate? read more

I would bring My Pom Pom here a lot. Until 2 months ago i noticed a change. I got the Top pup and tbh i feel like if he didn't get the top pup service. Before they would bring him out and the girl who was there with short blond hair was very friendly and patience with my hyper dog. Sadly last month it felt like they just hurried to clean him and go on the next pup. Two days ago i decided to give them another try. Well within 1 hr my dog was finished and they said they were pretty busy. The smell he had when i took him in was still there. His fur was not cleaned or dried properly. I know because when it's not dried it gets curly. His nails were not trim properly I did noticed it was new girls who were working. Also the girl who took my dog to the back didn't seem very happy with my hyper dog. If they don't like working with pets, don't work there. They are are like our children. This review is for the pet hotel only. I'm not sure what they did to my dog, but she has never reacted this way when we would pick her up from the long beach hotel. My poor doggy was absolutely frantic to get out of the lobby and was whining like crazy. Totally out of character for her. They seem very unorganized and uninterested in the pets as well as the people. While waiting for them to bring our baby out, we constantly heard yelling from the young girl "watching" the dogs in the play area. We peeked in and she was standing in the corner checking her phone while yelling "stop it" to the dogs chasing each other around the room. After a long wait (we were the only ones in the lobby with 3 workers at the desk...) they brought my baby out. She looked like she lost about 5 pounds while there. Didn't they feed her with the food we provided? As I mentioned, she was franticly trying to get out the door. My husband reminded them that we brought a blanket and the guy looked a little confused but said hold on he'll go get it. After another 5 minutes he brought out a large plastic bag and said the blanket was inside. He explained they had started to wash it but never got a chance to dry it. What?! Since when did they start washing the bedding we bring? We are highly suspicious about why the blanket was wet and suspect they neglected to take my baby out to go potty and she was forced to go in her kennel. If they washed bedding just to be helpful wouldn't they be sure to mention that as a selling point? Hm. So let's see.... Time away? 1 week. What we provided? Our own food, bedding, and toy. Cost? $200. What we received? A frantic/anxious dog who is visibly skinnier. Never again. If you care about your baby, don't take a chance on this place. read more

I would give a lower rating if possible...Took my two 8 month old Havanese to Petsmart for the 5-6 week top dog grooming. This was my third time taking them to this store. First 2 times they turned out okay and thought I had found a groomer ( just moved to CA). Requested Alyssa as she groomed them originally. Well NEVER again....she ended up shaving them both claiming they were severely matted, I comb/ brush them every day. She even felt them when I brought them in saying they felt good when I told her I want to grow their hair long. After dropping them off shortly after 5pm get a call about 7:45 saying she found some matts under armpit and would need to cut that area shorter. She also told me she had not start working on the 2nd one! 15 minutes later she called and said the 2nd dog is matted too much and would have to be shaved as well. I ask to see him before she cut him and she said that wasn't possible. I headed back to the store since I was only about 15 min away. Got there and she was shaving my dog and not too carefully, she barely finished before closing time. Both dogs were poorly groomed , but the last dog was totally massacred. There were low spots where skin was showing , the dog looked patchy. I believe she ran out of time to groom my dogs and thus just shaved them in lieu of combing their hair. I suspect the nails were not trimmed as they looked and felt like how I had brought them in and his white little face was still dirty and tear stained...guess she did not have time for that either. Wondering what other services were claimed to be done but were not. I called the store the next day and the grooming salon suggested I wait to bring dogs back when Alyssa on duty. After waiting another day I was so PO that I called store and spoke to a manager.- (Stephanie) Registered my complaint, was told I should bring dogs in when a " higher" up manager there, which of course interferes with my job. Stephanie then said she would look at them to bring them in and they would correct grooming issues. I told her I did not want them to groom my dogs and wanted a refund. She agreed to refund me but indicated if she did I could no longer use the Petsmart grooming services... I told her that was not a problem for me to use that store for any services at all. I was eventually partially compensated and another groomer looked at dogs nails and agreed that they did not seem as if they had been trimmed. I was also told I could bring dogs back but to request a different groomer. I don't think so, every time I look at my pups I want to cry, this breed is known for their hair. I had the worst experience EVER at the grooming salon. I have 3 dogs, 1 is a very traumatized rescue who is afraid of everyone in a smock. I took the 3 of my dogs there early Sunday morning so it would be quieter for the dogs and not as disruptive to the store. Long story short I told Pam (the "manager" ) I had given my dog something to calm him a little- right away she snaps that they can't do anything with him then - like she really didn't want to hassle with him. I explained it was herbal not perscription yada yada, ok she said they could do it, first hurdle over. Next I asked if they had the muzzle (that always gets put on my rescue dog when they do his nails because he may nip when he is afraid) Lupe- told me that they couldn't let me put it on because it goes against their "policy" makes no sense, they could get bit putting on the stupid muzzle :( anyway she said i was distracting the dog would I mind going out into the store where he couldn't see me and they would put the muzzle on? Fair request, but........... for the next 15 mins she and pam (the 'manager") chased this little dog around trying to get a slip leash on him, I caught site of his eyes and he was TERRIFIED, I had had enough, this poor pup had been through enough already and I wasn't going to let those 2 terrorize him any longer. I went back into the grooming area and took him back from them. Pam started to tell me that they could still do my other 2 dogs but after that fiasco I didn't want those 2 touching my dogs Alma, Laura and Emily are terrific but they sure had the "B Team" working yesterday. read more

I was offered a 'Puppy Special'; wash, ear cleaning and nail cliping for $8.99. I made the appointment and brought the dog in. When taking the dog they as if we wanted the nails filed or clipped. We said either will work. They recommended filing because they would be less likely to scratch. We said, OK do it. No one mentioned that it cost more. The price went from $8.99 to $19.99 to go from clipping to filing. No one mentioned a thing about extra cost, more than double the quoted cost. read more

Never again. The people that work at Petsmart are bunch of idiots who has no clue what they're doing. Unfortunately, our favorite aquarium store closed down a year ago, so we're only left with a couple of choices to shop for fish. My fault for trusting anything these people said. Most of these people probably barely got a high school education. Some workers look like they're just there do get their part time paycheck. No passion or care for animals. We went to get a couple of fish for my son's two tanks. The sales associate told me you can add tiger barbs in our betta tank. For a second, I doubted her but since she said she has them in HER tank, I trusted her. Turns out, tiger barbs will nip at other fish unless they're in a large group (since they're schooling fish), which means they need to be in an enormous size tank, not 5-10 gallon tanks. Sure enough, two tiger barbs nipped at our betta. I immediately returned the fish the following day when I realized this and did some research on my own. Even the person working at the register was surprised that this sales associate gave me such false information. She said she'll relay the information to the management to properly train their sales associates. Well, too late for our poor betta. He's developed spots on his skin, torn fins and looks like he's on his last leg. My son is really upset because this betta was doing so well compared to others we've had in the past. The two zebra danio we got for his other tank died one after another within 3 days. Never going back to this Petsmart again. read more

I left my dog for 2 days at their Hotel, my perfectly healthy and happy Dog. I picked him up, and in the car he was like he was drugged or something. He could not keep his eyes open. I had never seen my dog like this. Also his genital area was swellen, red. And they told me my dog vomitted while staying with them. Again my perfectly fine,healthy, happy and energized dog went to their hotel for two days and came back like this. Do not trust them. They just get money and that is all they care about. read more

They don't have a lot of prescription food in stock at the store. my best advice would be is to call before you arrive to see if they have it specially if it's Royal Canin brand. they also enforce the prescription details in the store strictly . since they were out of the Royal Canin the manager was "nice enough " to sell me ONE can of the K/D science diet since my prescription was written for Royal Canin. Our pets need to eat . this is and obviously hot selling item in the store and they should order a good stock of it instead of running out pets go hungry when you run out of prescription food because they cannot eat regular cat food due to their illness. The manager told me to call somebody in the morning to get the stuff reordered. it's my feeling that the manager should have talked to his own staff about re-ordering the food I shouldn't have to call and tell them how to stock their store. Another example of BIG corporate greed. Last weekend I called PetSmart to get our dog Molly groomed and was told she needed a bordetella immunization. I take her to the vet in the same store to get the immunization. I pay $45.95 for a preventative care visit, $24.95 for the immunization and $3.60 for medical waste removal. Also, while waiting for the doctor I am forced to listen to a video presentation of their wellness protection plans. I call again this weekend to get Molly groomed only to be told she has needed a rabies shot since January. WHAT? You couldn't have told me that last weekend! So I call back the vet to see if I can get the shot without the preventative care charge since they didn't tell me she also needed the rabies shot. NO, I need to pay for the office visit since their computers aren't linked and I don't have one of their wellness protection plans. UNBELIEVABLE! How convenient to blame it on the computers, yet you know they are well aware of every dog chew I've ever bought in their store. From now on I will take all my dog needs to my local neighborhood food store, groomer, vet, and kennel and AVOID the PetSmart big box store. read more

I took my dog in for grooming, and the grooming manager Alma, was not only rude to me, but she did a terrible job grooming my dog. There were chucnky hack marks all around the right side. It looked like she groomed her bling folded. My babys ears were dirty, her nail started bleeding when I got home from her clipping her nails too short and she did not recieve a tip from me. I first want to say that I have used several petsmart hotels so when I went to the Torrance Petsmart hotel I figured I would have the usual great experience. Yea not so much here! The best way to describe the girl at the check-in is bone qui qui from mad tv "ghetto attitude". It was like how dare I bother her and ask for my dog back. As I'm waiting for Miss Thing to get my dog I'm watching one of the handlers in the big dog pin. Just standing there no engagement with the dogs with this miserable look on her face. Hello!? You are in the eye of the public at least pretend to care. Then I start to wonder how well my dog was treated while she was there. When Miss Thing came back with Abby she hands her off to me and says "that's it"... No report card on how my dog did or how much she got to play. (They are suppose to give you a card with notes from each handler) nope nothing. On top of that my dog is barking and charging after other dogs in the store. She is a year and half and has never done this before. Please note that I have had great experience with all other petsmart hotels I just strongly don't recommend this one. read more

Avoid the grooming dept like the plague!! They do the worst grooming here and are extremely rude to their customers. They cut my Maltese ear so bad she had to see the vet. She now has a permanent chunk out of her ear. They were trying to hide it but when I walked in early to get her, her little ear was still bleeding. This is a dog that is only 5 lbs and sits like a statue when grooming. Alma supposedly was the "best"' well I know from experience if she can't trim a 5lb statue dog, she not a good groomer. Dog trainers Lisa and Blythe have really helped me with my hyper, prey driven, german shepherd mix. Although she is still hyper, the trainers have equipped me with the tools and confidence to train my dog. If you don't go to Petsmart for anything else, go for the trainers here! My dog and I spend a lot of time at Petsmart with either classes, shopping for food/toys, at the groomer (bath only), and doggie day camp. I don't know of a better one-stop pet store in the Torrance area. read more

PET BOARDING: 1 star I feel compelled to write this review as soon as possible after picking up my dog from a 6-night stay because I think it's unbelievable how poor the service was. We booked our senior dog here because our petsitter had last-minute plans, and I wish we had done EVERYTHING we could to find a different sitter or pet hotel instead. First off, we were charged for the "private suite" instead of the "atrium" room, a nearly $10 difference, even though we had agreed on the atrium rooms. When asked why this change was made, we were told that he was "too old" to stay in the regular rooms. When asked why we were not notified before checking our dog in, we were told that "they were too busy during the holidays". Two different excuses -- it just doesn't add up. Secondly, we were told that the blanket that we had left for our dog was soiled and we could take it now or pick it up another time, cleaned -- we chose to take it. When they brought out a blanket that did not belong to us, instead of finding the right blanket, we were told that no one had marked down that we had brought a blanket at all. So... why did you tell us our blanket was soiled? Where did our blanket go? We told them to just forget it. The associate also told us that our dog did not want to have a BM in their playroom the first few days, which would explain the soiled blanket(s). In my opinion, not having a BM for several days is a medical concern, and something that I should have been notified about. Additionally, the dog food and treat bags that we had left with our dog were completely full... when asked whether he ate, the associate said that he did eat, just "nibbled". It sounds like these people have either little experience about dog health or just little concern. Finally, to add insult to injury, the associate told us that due to "age and health concerns", we would no longer be able to book our pet with this pet hotel. Alright... our pet did not age in the 6 days we left him there, and he had a clean bill of health from BANFIELD (associated with Petsmart!) before making our reservation! When asked if anything had happened during his stay to cause concern, they told us that he had been fine -- eating and drinking and getting along with others. So ultimately, they were just refusing our business for no discernible reason. Great -- we don't want to come back anyway! And hopefully, neither will you. We left with NO paperwork and NO report card for his almost week-long stay. I'll leave them with 1 star for their flexible hours and the fact that they did charge us the original quoted price for our pet's stay. But if you care about your pet, you'll stay away from here, no matter how convenient or affordable it seems. read more

I do not recommend the PetsHotel at this location. They do not care about your pets. The manager here takes a callous attitude and it reflects in their care. The last time I boarded here they changed my pets medication dosage without even consulting me. Instructions were provided by my vet but they decided they knew better. read more

I was very upset at how rude the receptionists were at the Pet Hotel. I talked to this person named Angela over the phone about boarding my dog for two days and she made everything sound peachy so I went over to check it out myself and make reservations, as soon as I got there, they told me my dog was too old to be in their hotel. Something they didn't bother to tell me over the phone but made it sound like I should have been responsible for relaying that information, as if I was supposed to think that my dog's age was such an important factor when my priority was that my father passed away and I needed someone to care for him for just one night so I could go to his funeral. So they told me to make reservations at another place because for some reason my senior dog would need a vet on call if something were to happen to him. Also on a side note I mentioned that I wasn't quite sure if he got along with other dogs to which they told me without a beat that I would have to be responsible for the vet bills of other dogs if he causes any injuries to which I wondered why that scenario would happen if they are supposed to be supervising my dog, they shouldn't allow that situation if they are doing their jobs. No one even seemed to acknowledge this Angela person that I spoke to, I'm convinced it was a fake name given to me. When I spoke to the manager, she had no clue about what was going on, but she told me they had a vet on call for their hotel as well, so what was the exact need of me to board him somewhere else? A vet is a vet. That was the worst hospitality service I've ever had. I couldn't trust them with my dog for even 10 minutes seeing how they were so unaccommodating to me who is going through such a personal loss. Other than that, the Banfield Pet Hospital staff members are always the nicest people. So no, this is not just a complaint, I acknowledge great service too. Great grooming (Thanks, Jessie)! Overall great customer service. Everyone seems like they want to be there and like what they do. The only thing I don't like is the cost of the Pet Hotel and they charge extra like $17 a day per dog (maybe you get the 2nd for 1/2) for play and they just bring them into a room with a few toys. Aside from that everything else is great. I won't go into the Vet part of the store because I don't know but I haven't heard anything bad. read more

I bought my chinchilla from here 6 months ago and since then i have been coming here pretty often to attend to all of his needs. In these six months he has managed to break ten wheels and i have returned them to this location. Every time i return the wheel for a new one there are no questions asked they happily replace it each time. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! Pets can get expensive but the PetSmart staff is always willing to help out with giving a discount! THIS PLACE IS EXCELLENT! i recommend it to all pet owners! read more
