Staff here is always so nice and friendly. I love the atmosphere, everything is clean and there's always someone around to help. This place gets pretty busy on the weekends but there's always staff ready to help, and they never act "too busy". They will drop whatever they're doing to help a customer and that's hard to come by. I come to PetSmart about once a month, sometimes more. I had one bad experience with PetSmart Corporate when I ordered something online and the order somehow went to a store a few hours down south. The staff at the Visalia PetSmart was SO HELPFUL! They told me to call the store the order accidentally went to. The staff at that store was very helpful as well and they told me their system was down and they were unable to cancel the order, but they gave me the number for the corporate office and told me they should be able to help. Worst experience ever. It was a Friday afternoon, around 5pm but someone answered the phone. I didn't get her name but if I did I would have been sure to make a complaint. This woman was so rude! When I told her what happened she told me I had called the wrong number and I needed to call the store the order had gone to. I explained that I had and she was talking to me like I was taking up her time. This is her job, I should be a priority and not a nuisance. And I wasn't even asking for a lot, I asked for her to cancel the order and she kept coming up with excuses after excuses to not do that. She finally decided that I would just have to wait until the store down south's system was up again. She ended up hanging up on ME after I had told her I didn't think that was a good idea. She said something like "have a good day" and just ended the call. I went back into the store (understandably) angry. I let the woman who was helping us inside the store know what had happened and how upset I was. I told her I would just purchase the item again in store and figure the rest out later. The item I wanted ended up getting discounted and the assured me it would be taken care of. Sure enough, everything ended up ok! I was so appreciative of the Visalia PetSmart staff. They are incredibly friendly and nice. I will always continue to work with PetSmart. read more

First time coming to this Petsmart, I had put in order in two hours prior for pickup, since they were about to close in 20 mins I went inside and asked if they had my order ready by chance and she said they didn't to just pick it up tomorrow. It took me and my husband less than three minutes to gather our order and take it to the counter. I just left petsmart, they basically discriminated my dog for being old. My dog had an appointment for a haircut and wash and because she was having anxiety they couldn't wash her. It was her first time at this store, didn't even give her a chance to get used to the environment. Mind you my dog has had wash/cut at other facilities with no issues. Basically, they didn't have the time to be patient with her, so they denied her a service that she needed. I'm new to this town and it's a shame that I had to experience this awful customer service. If I could give NO stars I'd definitely do so, came in today, January 5th, was asking the girl in the fish department questions about the guppies, she said she felt uncomfortable about selling me the fish, and told me I wouldn't be allowed to take any home.. I'm a grown A** adult with plenty of fish experience and I have a 10 gallon tank set up and ready, I will never come to this location again, me and my fiancé called her the "fish Karen" this was around 4 in the afternoon. This is my 3rd visit to this store I normally go to Bakersfield. However today I decided to order and take a ride to Visalia. I had planned to buy some feeder fish and a couple of other things I could not find online. I have about a 45 min drive so when I went in I asked one of the workers if the restrooms were locked or open. He said oh I don't think they are working. This is my 3rd visit probably in the last 6 months that is a long time to have a restroom broken. (Really) Your store is dirty do you just prefer the customer go in a corner and Pee like one of the animals, I guess it would be okay right.. This is also why many people are just choosing to buy from Walmart online and Amazon, it's not necessary to go to these stores anymore. This will definitely be my last visit to this store. If you are not in hurry just order from one of the online marketplaces... I was just picking up a sales item, I would have bought from anywhere, however this place had them on sale. My poor mut was matted so they make sign a waiver...I was under the impression they would at least give me my pup with his hair evenly cut but they did such a bad job. There are parts on his body where they didn't cut his hair. Then the girl whose name is Hailey was very hesitant to cut his hair. Made on-line appointment for my dog grooming. Honestly answered all the questionary questions, including one of history of seizures (my dog had few episodes 6 years ago, went under medical evaluation and was cleared as healthy, seizures have never happen again). On a questionary it said that PetSmart will contact me if any further questions or concerns. They never called me, but indeed send several SMS confirming the appointment. When we showed up for the giving time (we live 35 minutes away driving), they told me that they can't take my dog in because of history of seizures. To my questions, why didn't they call my in advance to cancel all I got was: "I am sorry". Such a careless approach to their own business and disrespect of customer's time. read more

Pet smart not only cut my dog all over his body, to the point of him NEEDING TO WEAR A CONE, but refused to take any time brushing him out and completely shaved him to the skin. His tail is halfway shaved and he has a fluffy tail so it looks stupid- it literally makes no sense why they did it to his tail... He's moving to UC Berkeley next week to do service dog work and looks so horrible, I am very sad :( 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GROOMER I WISH I LISTENED TO REVIEWS!!! I would never take my dog here to get groomed again. We took two of our Shih Tzus. We got a call that one of them got nicked, and they said their protocol was to take them to the vet. They made it seem like it was something very small. When we picked her up we saw she had to get 6 staples! It was not a small nick! It was a big cut on her stomach. Our poor dog had to suffer with staples in her stomach for two weeks. Due to her cut they couldn't continue grooming her. Our other dog looked horrible. I should have never given them a chance. When I posted what they did on social media I received so many messages with other horror stories that other people have with them. If you can make the drive to Reedley I recommend you go to Pet Haven. They do such a good job. I needed a quick appointment, so that is why we tried Pet Smart, but I'll never do that again. read more

Prices are astronomical on everything, but "staff" (2?) are either unavailable or awful whether on the phone or on the floor....have no time to answer a question. Morale is poor. We started taking our fur babies to Jada for grooming services after she saw them while working the register and just went head-over-heels over them. We knew they would be in good hands and they loved going to see Jada! We have been taking them to her for almost 2 years now. Sadly for us, Jada is moving out of the area to pursue her educational goals. We are happy for her, but will miss her tremendously! It's only a about a 2-3 hour drive from us so we definitely plan on making an appointment with her at her new place once in a while. She will be hard to replace! read more

This Petsmart refused to sell me a $0.17 goldfish because I said my daughter's tank is only 1 gallon, and the minimum tank size for a $0.17 goldfish is 29 gallons. Even though they are "feeder fish", they still get the same "right fish, right home" treatment as all other fish. So the guy went from "helping" me to selling a lady some live crickets (admittedly to be used as food...the same guy that, in the same breath, refused to sell me the $0.17 fish, then admitted they were "feeder fish"). They neglect the bettas here like crazy, every time I go here and look at the betta rack the bettas here are always dead, dying, or sick, it's a rare thing to see a nice healthy betta swimming around in there tiny cup, they are neglected and it really seems like nobody that works here cares about them, one time I returned a betta because I realized it was sick after I bought it, I told them about it, came back a day later and that same betta was back on the betta rack floating at the top of the cup, they didn't treat it or anything even known I told them it was sick, there is obvious neglect-ion of the fish and they don't care about treating them if there sick and will throw a sick betta right back on the shelf for someone else to buy and have to deal with. Another issue I commonly run into is they have such a small variety of plants, they have the basic plants, Java fern, Amazon swords, and that's really it, No Cryptocoryne, no ludwigia, duckweed, etc. they have a very small option of plants. Another problem, yes, there is still more problems with this place, is they restock fish so rarely, sometimes I'd be looking for a specific fish and they would never have it until I decided to just buy another fish, overall there is a lot of problems with the fish management at PetSmart, I still buy from here but they seriously could improve there store a TON. read more

Went to Petsmart to compare a certain canned cat food. Upon entering the store, I was shocked that the checkout line had customers backed up down the middle isle. I continued to the isles with canned cat food, and to my delight the particular product, I was looking for was "on sale" if I bought at least 12 cans. After further reviews of the prices for the major online seller, Petsmart was very competitive. I decided to purchase 24 cans. When I headed up to the checkout line there was no waiting. When I first adopted my puppy I took her somewhere else to be groomed, and when I picked her up she was shaking and terrified and slept for the entire rest of the day. I took my pup here for a groom and this was one of the worst experiences! I normally take him to a PetSmart out of town and have never had any problems and my pup always comes back happy and I am always satisfied, but due to holidays I had to take him here. The groomers are very unprofessional and just blatantly rude, it was so unbelievable! Upon arriving, groomers were just not welcoming whatsoever that I was so uncomfortable. My grooming took up to 4 and a half hours, my dog is a small shih tzu. Picking him up, he was not happy he seemed very down and anxious which is not how he normally acts after getting groomed which had me so worried. I visited the Visalia Petsmart on July 22nd at around 8:15pm. I was looking for a collar to put on my dog after he had surgery to prevent him from trying to remove his stitches. I entered the store I could not find an associate to ask where they were located. I walked around the store looking for an associate as well as looking for the collars I didnt locate either one. I went back to the front of the store there was an associate at the register helping a customer another associate standing there I asked her where the collars were located. She wasnt quite sure gave me two locations to look for them. I went back to the locations that she told me, she didnt not offer to help me look (POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE). I didnt not locate them I went back told her I couldn't find them, she gave me a look like I really dont care. So I left went down the street to Petco which 2 wonderful associates helped me locate the collars as well as give there recommendation on the best one. Thank you Petco. Decent dry goods store. Consistently sick/dead animals on display. Staff has little to no knowledge of the animals they are to care for and sell. Not all animals in the store get vet checked or treated at all despite claims to the contrary. Employees constantly blame corporate for the lack of resources, training, and service. These places are as bad as puppy mills. If you care about living things, don't buy them here. Each purchase of an animal from stores like this only gives them reason to purchase, neglect, abuse, and kill more of them. They suck up the loss because of the crowd the animals draw and resulting purchases. If folks stopped buying these sick, abused animals it could lead to a positive change. Think a sick animal isn't so bad? Wait til it gets your other pets sick, or your kids. Speak up using the only language these companies understand, with your money. read more

We adopted a rescue dog and got a coupon book which I've used numerous times to get free items and discounted items. Recently took my dogs for a half-price grooming done very well in a timely manner. It seems very professional as far as the groomers go check in and check out is done well. Every time I've use this coupon book it baffles the cashier and they always need a manager to use the coupons didn't know why. I went to petsmart to buy goldfish for an event. I had some difficult requests and I have got to say that Alyssa & Niarah (I took a picture of their name tags so I could sing their praises they we're so awesome) we're above and beyond. The service they provided was exceptional!! Hold on to employees like that they are hard to find. I would not have taken the time to write this review if I had not received the best possible service from both of these girls. The young lady at the register was nice as well.
