    Dirty hamster wheel
    Amanda N.

The only reason this petsmart is getting 2 stars instead of one is because they had the food I needed for my hamster. Though, they did not have a good selection nor a good selection of treats or toys for hamsters. In addition, the fancy mouses (not pictures) wheel was horribly filthy. Sadly, I was unable to obtain a picture due to the mouse continually running on its wheel. The cages reeked of urine which isn't good for any animal to stay in for a long period of time. The bedding looked like it had not been cleaned for at least two weeks. I do not recommend.

    The ignored dog... :(
    Crystal O.

I am so upset I spent the money I did... to be treated like I was. My dog and I were not only ignored and barely helped... even when it was clear we were having tough times getting things down... But I felt like a second class citizen compared to how the other two families were being paid attention to and helped. Even my dog was ignored.... never petted or used to show examples of what we learned like the other two... even my two children noticed how my dog was just plain walked by... and to think I paid the same as everyone else... I worked with my dog as everyone else did... I am convinced it was the fact the teacher did not like my family from the beginning... if I wanted someone to ignore me and talk to me in a condescending tone...I would have stayed home...and not have had wasted my families money and time. I was promised so much when I signed up...left feeling angry.

We booked an appointment with Tony when Maggie was about four months old. The transition was unbelievable. He explained to us how dogs think and taught use how to correct bad behavior. In addition to teaching Maggie, Tony taught us what we were doing wrong. I feel it was well worth the cost and recommend K-9 Academy to anyone who is looking to get training for their dog.

I'm so glad we enrolled in Tony's classes at K9 academy because now we have a obedient dog and the confidence to continue with his training throughout the rest of his life. Most people are nervous to bring their beloved pets to trainers for fear of training to be too rough on them, I know we had our concerns when looking into trainers. Tony is very careful and shows you how to properly correct your dog from bad behaviors without hurting them like some of the other extreme methods for dog training. K9 academy charges a fair price for such a great experience, training and confidence you get with training your dog. I loved the fact that if I have questions even outside of class at anytime during the day I can call him for help and he will guide us in the right direction. You can't get that kind of service from any corporate pet store that offers dog training. Tony also never tried to up sell us on any kind of equipment for training or classes that he felt we didn't need. Tony's very passionate about his work and you can really tell his love for dogs when you meet. K9 academy offers so many different class everything from basic obedience to bomb sniffing training so it's easy to find something right for you and pursue your dogs training as high as you'd like. Our puppy is now 8 months old and is an extremely well behaved and gentle dog. Tony will forever train our dogs as we adopt more of them. If I could rate this place any higher than 5 stars I would. Thanks K9 academy.

My most recent contact with Nikki has been in relation to her latest litter of Vom Evolution puppies as I have been thinking about getting another dog. I completely trust Nikki, her experience and proven results. Her knowledge and experience specifically with working line german shepherd dogs and all dogs in general makes her one of the best trainers and resources in Pennsylvania. You should also know that she has won many awards, titles and competitions through her hard work and dedication to all dogs and the german shepherd breed. I am editing this to add that Nikki's training facility is spotless. It is easily one of the cleanest animal facilities I have ever been to. She takes pride in her work and it shows.

This review is definitely overdue. Caitlin is a phenomenal trainer. She has worked with me and my…read moredog, Bailey in both Private Sessions and in group classes. We have been learning from her for approximately two years. Caitlin is incredibly resourceful when developing and modifying training plans. She has even met us at Trexler Park to work on Bailey's skills. The last time we met at the park we worked on recall and then realized that Bailey had an abundance of energy. Caitlin suggested that we work on loose-leash walking skills instead (which meant that Bailey was able to learn while "burning off" some of her excitement and energy.) [Fun fact: Caitlin works with birds, cats, reptiles, etc, etc] I get very nervous initially when working with a trainer and one of my dogs. My self-talk is usually "why can't I do this the way the trainer is" and/or "I should have taught Bailey these skills before." First and foremost, Caitlin is very positive, encouraging and understands my level of "training anxiety." . And she also takes the time to understand the ever-changing home dynamics; including the relationship between Bailey and our other dog, Bella. Our most recent training was at a group class held in Trexlertown. Bailey was able to ultimately complete a "down" command with hand signals only. We have been practicing daily. Caitlin can be found on both Facebook and Instagram. This week, she demonstrated unique "Kong" recipes to keep dogs interested and working for their food. Recipes are on her blog. I trust Caitlin completely and appreciate her "focusing on the positive" with her canine (and human) clients.

After…read morecompleting the initial evaluation, I felt optimistic that she would be able to work with me to help train my puppy so I purchased her 7 session at-home one-on-one package. During that session she stated that my dog had anxiety which I believed could be true due to her unknown past. She had recommended supplements and a costly CBD oil. On the day of our first session, she called me at the time of our scheduled session and said she had brought along her dog as well as a dog she was board and training. She had not given me any prior notification that the dogs were along with her nor asked for my approval to bring them onto my property. For the first 15 minutes of the session, the dogs she brought along ran around my backyard and my dog (who is still warming up and settling in with new people and other dogs) was rightfully very timid and scared. She then asked me what we would be working on that day and I had voiced to her (in our evaluation session as well) that crate training was very important to me and for the safety of my puppy when leaving my home. She then commented that would require going in the house, where she brought the dogs into my home (once again without asking permission). The dogs continued to be a distraction to my dog who you could tell was incredibly stressed and uncomfortable, clearly unable to focus and train. At that time, she did remove the dogs from my house and brought them out to her car. At this point, we had about 10 minutes left in the session where she pivoted to a completely different subject and tried to train my dog who was still very uncomfortable and scared by what happened previously. She proceeded to make comments with no actual facts that my dog was acting that way because she is "in pain", "has a very weak back" and that her behavior is incredibly "abnormal". I rescued her from an extremely reputable German Shepherd Rescue where she had been examined by a veterinarian and deemed healthy for adoption. Leading up until the moment she and the other dogs arrived my dog was perfectly content and has shown no signs of pain or discomfort in the time I have owned her. I had started giving her the recommended supplements and CBD oil and had started noticing that she was having an easier time settling. She commented that she had noticed no changes in my dogs behavior and that I should start giving her more CBD oil -- once again, my dog was incredibly uncomfortable after the unfamiliar dogs were in our yard/home and her disposition showed that. After this extremely frustrating and disappointing session, I reached out to her to explain how I was dissatisfied by what had occurred during our training session and especially for the price of what her sessions cost. I also voiced how I felt as though the trust had been broken and that I did not believe she was the best fit for my dog and myself. I attempted to end the relationship amicably by requesting a partial refund since she had not fulfilled any services. She provided me a refund at the cost of one singular session (which now after doing further research is an astronomical rate). While I do not discredit that she has been in the business for quite some time, I regret not taking some of the reviews that have been written more seriously, as it appears others have had extremely similar situations where she has given a "medical diagnosis" regarding their pet's behaviors. During this short relationship, she made me feel as though there is something wrong with my dog and has caused us both an unnecessary amount of stress on top of financial loss.

I had no idea just how much better they could be. Starr has brought us a much more relaxed home and for that I am eternally grateful. A couple ways our life has changed: Everytime I had my windows or doors open my boys would bark at the slightest noise whether it be a car, person, or their shadow. I am now able to sleep with my windows open for the first time in 6 years. My neighbors can be outside and I can have my doors open and my boys no longer bark incessantly. I can now sit on my porch with my boys and enjoy my neighborhood and evenings without my boys going crazy and trying to run all over. My boy Cache used to act like a mongrel walking on a leash. We were unable to take him anywhere. He's literally torn pads on his feet trying to get into the vets office from pulling so hard. Since the training, I am able to walk Cache into the vet, get a weight on him by myself, and Cache will actually lay down and wait to be seen. We used to have to wait in the car and carry him in. We recently brought the boys out for icecream and multiple people have commented on just how well behaved they are. A couple months ago we would have never heard that! In January my boys had a difference of opinion about the ownership of a bone and my boy Damian had bit my Cache. Cache understandably had some trust issues. I felt as though I was walking on eggshells thinking they were going to have continual issues. Starr's training has brought my boys back together and have strengthened their bond with not only me and my husband but also with each other. They are starting to play and cuddle with each other again. "Success is no accident. Thanks to Starr's training my heart is full of happiness with all of the success we have achieved and no words can truly express just how grateful I am...
