All I can say is disgusting and horrible. We got there at 1PM when our appointment started kind of feeling bad that we were just on time. We walk in there and they say hi and then take calls before talking to us again. Then they come over pet our dog and riled her up and then kept repeating that. We told them our dog get anxious. Then, they were getting upset that our dog didn't want to get there PetSmart collar on her neck instantly. Obviously any animal is not going to want that after you riled them up. They took 25 mins to even get her back there. So they tell us 3 hours to groom our dog. Okay kind of reasonable she told us it would take the full 3 hours because she is a retriever. We then we say our goodbyes. In the meantime we go and look at new collars and go to walk out as soon as we walk out we get a call. PetSmart. So I'm thinking maybe they needed another proof of vaccination for the dog or something stupid. They tell us we need to pick her up right away because she refused to get into there kennel. EXCUSE ME. KENNEL? If it's supposed to take you the "FULL 3 HOURS" why are we putting her in a kennel. Not only were the workers getting upset she wouldn't want a choking collar on her YOU TRY TO PUT HER IN A KENNEL. I'm in complete disbelief. She is an animal it is completely natural for her not to be in a cage. I'm very disappointed how they treated her and I would not recommend this to anyone else. It is very basic and they don't care for the needs of your pet! I would recommend going to a family owned business where they care for your animals! I absolutely despise going near the mall area unless I absolutely have to! However, my dog needed a rabies vaccine and this was the only place offering it so soon. On this particular day I took my dog into their mobile Shot Vet for the vaccination. Reasonable pricing without having to pay a Vet check up fee as well. Line seemed to move slow compared to how many dogs were in line so I suggest you get there early as possible if taking advantage of this service. I only come here because they carry the food my cats need but the service here is overall bad. The lines are always long ,the cashiers never seem to enjoy being at work, half the time you won't even get a greeting right before you spend an easy hundreds of dollars on product. The only reason this petsmart is getting 2 stars instead of one is because they had the food I needed for my hamster. Though, they did not have a good selection nor a good selection of treats or toys for hamsters. In addition, the fancy mouses (not pictures) wheel was horribly filthy. Sadly, I was unable to obtain a picture due to the mouse continually running on its wheel. The cages reeked of urine which isn't good for any animal to stay in for a long period of time. The bedding looked like it had not been cleaned for at least two weeks. I do not recommend. read more

I could NOT be more disappointed with my PWD's cut and my overall experience! I spoke with the groomer (Mel) at drop off. She and I looked over Poppy together. I explained that I did NOT want Poppy shaved down rather a trim (exception only where a mat needed to be removed). I explicitly stated that I wanted her beard and tail longer. Mel agreed other than one spot under her chin that had a mat. Mel told me the appointment would be approx four hours. Three hours later, Mel called and said Poppy would be ready in an hour. A few minutes later, I received another call from a different girl. She called back to tell me that Poppy was jumpy under the dryer and during clipping on her legs and took extra time. She said an additional charge of $40 would be required! I pointed out it was a four hour appointment (as stated to me at drop off) and extra fees should have been mentioned. When I arrived to pick up Poppy, I was horrified to see all of Poppy's beautiful coat GONE!!!! She was completely shaved down. Almost unrecognizable!!!!!!!!! Poppy's entire body was shaved to almost her skin!!!!!! Mel absolutely knew that I did not want Poppy shaved!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER take either of my dogs back to PetSmart Grooming Salon!!!! read more

**Grooming Section** I bought my dog Tyson to the grooming section and I thought I had made online appointment, but it turns out I'd made it back in my old Las Vegas PetSmart where I just moved from last week. So I ended up at the Wilkes-Barre store and Melanie and Maddie were both willing to help me. Maddie said that she had time and she took him in and took about an hour and a half. She called as soon as it he was done. Tyson is really a great dog, but he's an anxious dog because he's dealing with separation anxiety and we're trying to get them acclimated to being in a kennel and all of these things. They were really supportive of him when I had to go back to my hotel and switch rooms and they didn't have a problem holding him a little bit longer. They weren't busy at the time, so I was there only customer and he got a great bath, teeth cleaning, toe nail grinding and swag gear. My son had nothing but a collar, so Melanie was kind enough to assist me throughout the store with purchasing a new Kong collar, Kong harness, Kong leash, Kong treat toy, dog pads, heavy duty squeaky toy, camo jacket (since I just retired from the Air Force), a camo dog tag and engraving services. They were so professional and attentive to my family. I actually bought them s thank you card and have them huge tips. Melanie said she was just doing here job, but not everyone DOES their job and not everyone LIKES their job. I'm going to this store for all my doggie needs and just to deal with these ladies! *Overall* The store was clean and everyone wanted to pet Tyson. Staff is great and really knowledgeable. Especially the pet care associates. The girls at the register may not know every single pet need, but those over in the pet care section do. Always happy staff, even when dealing with nasty customers who yell at the stock boys/manager/associates because they want discounts or because they don't drop everything in a split second. You can't expect them to walk around with an animal to help you, while they're showing it to another customer. it's for the safety of the animal that they put it away properly before assisting you. And they do so in a timely manner. It took the girl 2 minutes to finish up a hamster comparison for a young child, even with explaining to her directly how to care for the animal. They treat the children there like they are their own. Some policies I don't always agree with, but insurance and liability I'm sure is the reason why certain rules are set. read more

I took my cat here for a trim and she got a bacteria infection under her chin. I watched as the girl picked some kind of comb and it had hair in it from another animal and she just pulled it out and threw the fur on the floor and ran it threw my cat fur to get rid of some of her thick fur. This place does not clean their grooming supplies!!!! Three days later, my cat had a bacteria infection under her chin!!!!!! I thought it might have been ringworm, but the vet said it was a bacteria infection!!!!! I am so mad!!!! This place should close!!! How dare they be able to get away with that!!!! read more

I had a scheduled appointment on Shih-Tzu day for my four month old shitzu. I made the appointment online and planned on using my 'free puppy bath' coupon from the $20 puppy starter pack that I buy from PetSmart for all my puppies. Not to mention I buy the beginning essentials for my puppies here as well as clothing, accessories and food. I am a frequent flyer at PetSmart as I have five dogs. I usually have very good experiences and typically choose PetSmart over Petco and some of the smaller animal businesses in the area. I arrived with my four month old puppy, who had just been trimmed at home four days prior to the scheduled appointment and had just gotten her rabies shot three days prior to the appointment (intentionally so we can start bringing her to PetSmart). All I wanted for her was a bath. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just a bath. The Groomer told me that I should have her professionally groomed and not to her at home. However the Groomer has no idea that I have five dogs of my own and we do everything at home to save money and use the money we save towards vaccinations and rehabilitating our animals, one of which almost died of Bloat a week prior to me coming to this appointment. One of the groomers who checked us in indicated that Fiona was 'extremely matted' which she is not, I can take photos and post them currently and you can see two matts on her entire coat. She's a new born shitzu, I am not sure what they expected. The manager or shift supervisor it appeared came over to consult with the groomer and she told me if I wanted her to have a bath there that I would have to either take her for a grooming or she would have to come back to PetSmart for a grooming. In all honesty I think this is an absolute joke. It is a free bath that comes in a puppy package. They weren't busy and a bath and blow dry could've taken them all of thirty minutes. I wasn't asking for the bells and whistles or anything over the line. A simple bath and she was refused because she was 'too matted.' Not only am I defending my puppy here who could have simply had a bath and left but it was Shih-Tzu day and they were giving away free treats and 15% off all grooming and a free chalk streak. They didn't offer ANYTHING to my puppy, or myself. They didn't even offer her a treat for the 30 minute ride home that we had directly after being refused service. Truthfully I had to stop at a store and get her a treat to keep her calm and happy on the ride home since I could not bring myself to buy anything from PetSmart after this incident. It seems like someone didn't want to do their job and just asked us to leave. I felt uncomfortable and felt bad for my puppy. I don't understand the intentions of the supervisor or the staff here. It was a simple, simple thing that got blown out of proportion and put a very bad taste in my mouth. I have already told some of my friends and family who are huge animal people about this situation. I am so upset I spent the money I did... to be treated like I was. My dog and I were not only ignored and barely helped... even when it was clear we were having tough times getting things down... But I felt like a second class citizen compared to how the other two families were being paid attention to and helped. Even my dog was ignored.... never petted or used to show examples of what we learned like the other two... even my two children noticed how my dog was just plain walked by... and to think I paid the same as everyone else... I worked with my dog as everyone else did... I am convinced it was the fact the teacher did not like my family from the beginning... if I wanted someone to ignore me and talk to me in a condescending tone...I would have stayed home...and not have had wasted my families money and time. My mom has a lovely little pug who loves everyone except anyone with the huevos to try to trim his nails. I used to receive a discount at any PetSmart, including grooming salon, as part of of my benefits with my job so whenever I would go home to visit, we'd go together to take advantage of this. The store itself is a medium sized PetSmart and seems a bit older and dreary compared to other PetSmarts that I have been to. However we have had only positive experiences in the grooming salon. Although Buddha (the pug) WILL try to bite anyone in the family who tries to trim his nails, including me and I work in a veterinary hospital, he was much better behaved at the salon. Even so, the one time he got a nail trim only and we waited for him, we watched him be a bit difficult to the girl cutting his nails and she was very professional and kind to him. We have also dropped him off for a bath with furminator and nail dremel upgrade. We stayed in the area to do some shopping and he was done early. He looked very handsome with his PetSmart bandanda (girls can get bows) and was happy to be done and pick out a toy! For grooming-- horrendous customer service, horrendous check in girl. Past experiences have ended with a cut from a razor, a scared shaking dog, etc. However, they go through groomers relatively quickly and I was home from NYC for the weekend so I figured I'd try them out again & watch the service be done the entire time. I called to see if I could get my maltipoo a sanitary shave. The girl actually sighed dramatically when I asked if there was something available for the weekend. Odd but ok.. so I told her that Cuji has been abused and isn't the best grooming patient due to it and suggested he have the nose strap muzzle put on during so he doesn't nip anyone. (Keep in mind he's 9 pounds and has 4 teeth but still, no one wants to be bitten & I understand that). The girl who answered the phone call was more interested in getting off the phone than listening to anything I was saying. Regardless, I tried to get the point across that he had a rough past and has some quirks due to it. So, she says "yep whatever come in at 3." Again, odd behavior, but I let it go because he desperately needed a trim. I arrive there at 3pm & was asked what I wanted done. I stated that I knew it was odd but I'd like to keep his fur long except on his legs since he has a tendency to lick his paws and create bad knots on his legs. After explaining, the girl at the front desk (same girl from the phone call) actually said "that will look weird" and rolled her eyes at me. Strange behavior by someone who's supposedly "customer service." I asked if she remembered what I had told her on the phone about his difficulties and she immediately turned bright red, started sighing, and slamming things down on the desk. At this point I couldn't understand why this girl was acting like a child having a temper tantrum when I'm PAYING for services to be done and being upfront that my dog is difficult. She wasn't a groomer, just the check-in person. It made zero sense to me. So I asked if this was something they could handle, as he was abused and I don't want to traumatize him further. At which point she sighs again, turns around, and walks in the back. Another lady came out who had previously groomed Cuji, and I was told it's their new policy to "not take difficult dogs" as there was a staff member bitten. So I asked if all employees knew abut this "new policy" since I wasn't told about it on the phone when I called an hour prior. She said yes. I tried to get across what an inconvenience this was, since I mentioned my dog was difficult on the phone and the statement was blown off, yet I drove a half hour to just be told that. At which point the front desk girl turned bright red once again and rolled her eyes and walked away. The entire experience was less than pleasant and could've been avoided if the check-in girl had just listened rather than rushed off the phone and making it completely known that she does not care. Safe to say, I'll be booking actual groomers next time, who care about the pasts of abused animals and why they may be a little more difficult. As for Petsmart, find a new check-in girl who doesn't act like a teenager in general and when presented with conflict. Yikes. read more

I was very disappointed in my service from Jess (associate name.) I have dealt with Breanna in the past and when I called to schedule my dog with Breanna, Jess told me I can not request Breanna because she does not take request dog's. Jess told me I had to book with her since she is the salon manager. I booked with her I am very disappointed. When I took my dog in Breanna was there and I asked her why she don't take request dogs she informed me that she does. This Jess does not know how to groom I will never take my dog there unless I can get another groomer. My experience there has always been great but since Jess has started there it went down hill. read more

We have been having our dogs groomed at Petsmart in Wilkes Barre for the past 5 years. We have big, hairy, difficult to groom dogs-2 Newfoundlands, a Bernese Mountain Dog and an Old English Sheepdog. We tried Petsmart after our Bernese Mtn Dog got a tick from a private grooming salon we were using. At the time our Newfoundlands were puppies. From the beginning we have had nothing but great experiences and good grooming results. We have had the same groomer, Michelle, for the past 5 yrs. She is courteous, accommodating, loves dogs, and is a pleasure to work with. Overall the staff has remained pretty consistent in the last 5yrs which we think is impressive. They all have a genuine love for dogs and go out their way to ensure the client is happy. One of our Newfoundlands wigs out when they put her in the crate to be dried so they have made special accommodations to dry her in a room by herself were she stay much calmer and comes home happy every time. You definitely get the impression that the groomers work as a team. They all know our dogs and in the event Michelle is out, they happily step in to groom our dogs, always checking with Michelle and asking lots of questions to us to ensure they get everything right. Which they do! We never leave with our dogs without being asked multiple times if we are pleased with the grooming job which we really appreciate. We will say that you get out of grooming what you put into it. Groomers are not miracle workers, if you show up with a matted dog that hasn't had a bath in months, you will not get the optimal grooming results because you have limited the groomers ability to their best job. My dogs always look beautiful but I take the time to brush them regularly in between grooming visits use the right tools (which this Petsmart staff helped me choose). We have our dogs groomed every 8-10 wks. We are very HAPPY customers and our 'kids' love Petsmart and all who work there!!! read more

I bought fish from this Petsmart and they recommended a heater that was too big for my tank. when i asked them about it they basically yelled at me that if i didn't get that heater they recommended my fish would die. the heated ended up being too big and cooked my fish tilled they died( happen over night). went to dickson city's petsmart and the confirmed that the heater was the problem. do not listen to anybody in the fish section in this store. read more

Our little dog is quite a furry little girl. She tends to get into things and ends up matting her fur. We had been going to private pet groomers who would always tell us, no she's too matted we need to shave her down and one groomer here in Mountaintop not only shaved her down but charged us $72.00 to do so. My wife just happened to be in pet smart and decided to make an appointment for dog grooming services. Of course, we knew she was matted and they would need to shave her down. My wife asked if there was any way they could do their best not to shave her but we figured it was a lost cause. Not only did PetSmart do an amazing job, they did not shave her all the way down, used shampoo for sensitive skin because the dog has eczema.
