The oriental rug we had cleaned was cleaned well. Fairly good service although I remember there was a delay getting it finished. However, after cleaning, over the next several weeks, the fringe on one side of my rug deteriorated badly and fell apart. I called the company, not necessarily to get reimbursement or a "fix" from the, but to find companies, etc. that could replace the fringe. After all it was an older rug and possibly UV light effected the condition of the fringe. They were concerned and asked various specific questions saying they'd chat with the owner. They say this type of thing doesn't happen often. My main complaint is that it's been two weeks and I haven't heard anything back from them. You decide. read more

Very pleased with Pettyjohn's - we used them years ago to clean our sofas and just recently they came out to clean all of our carpets. Sam, the "cleaner", was not only early (woo hoo!) but also extremely professional and very polite. We went over all of the rooms and spots that needed cleaning. Turns out the estimate I was given was high and the work ended up being $55 cheaper! Anyway, he managed to get out numerous ink stains, pet stains and did a very thorough job on the cleaning and deodorizing. I would like to take a moment to tell you about the TWO great experiences I've had with Petty John's in Wake Forest, NC. I recently had the carpet redone in my office and I had Katie with Petty John's give me a quote for placing a protective coating over the carpet. She went through the two different options I had and the pros and cons of each. I had also received a quote from another carpet cleaning company that used scotchgard. I asked about the difference b/w scotchgard and the product they used. Katie told me the differences, but then also sent me articles related to my questions. Did you know scotchgard is linked to cancer?!?! I had the carpet replaced and protective coating placed on the carpet over the weekend. The smell that I came into on Monday caused me a migraine. I called Petty Johns and the contractors who laid down the carpet and both agreed it was most likely from the carpet glue that was used. Petty John's went above and beyond and brought over a HUGE HEPA filter and left it in my office for over a week to clean out the smell. They were under no obligation to do this, but they did! They made a customer for life! Fast Forward one month later and my dog had a huge accident in my office. I called Petty John's at 11am and they had someone out by 3:30pm that same day to clean up the mess! They thoroughly cleaned everything and it was just like new by the time they left. Writing a review for Pettyjohn's has been on my to do list for a few weeks now, it was not something I wanted to get lazy about and to forget because they deserve some praise for the fantastic business they are, and I am so thankful for them! I called almost 20 or so businesses around the area to see who would be comfortable cleaning my mom's really expensive yellow silk chaise her cat decided to pee on, every time I said the word "silk" and "pet stain," I immediately got a run around response and a "we aren't comfortable cleaning silk." After calling the 20th upholstery and carpet cleaning business, I actually got some advice from one business owner who actually recommended Pettyjohn's to me! He said "if they can't clean your silk chaise, I don't know anyone else who can," he said he had been in the business for 15+ years and highly recommends them. I called Pettyjohn's right away, and without any hesitation, and an email exchange with photos of it, they said they would gladly clean my mom's chaise. I can't tell you how relieved I was. I dropped off the chaise a week later and in less than 3 days, it was ready for pick up, stain free!!!! Not only did they do a terrific job at cleaning the chaise, they also offered to deliver it for a small, very reasonable fee after I told them it was a huge task for me to come and pick it up, since I had to borrow a friends truck who lived 40 min away. I really can't thank you all enough, from the efficient, friendly ladies at the front desk, to the brilliant upholstery cleaner, and the very polite and strong men who delivered the chaise! I would give less than 1 if I could. I brought in a wool runner that needed new backing and gluing. The result looked nearly perfect. But when brought into the home, it stunk to high heaven. PettyJohns said this is normal and it would go away. Needless to say, the runner is ruined and hopefully with months of airing outside, the stink will go away. If you have any repair at pettyjohns, make sure you get a guarantee that it will not stink and if so that they will reimburse you for the services. pettyjohns will not reimburse us for ruining the rug! read more

I can't say enough nice things about Pettyjohns from the initial telephone call with a live polite person with knowledge of the service and process I was going to experience to the teamwork to meet my "emergency" needs to the fastidious delivery and reinstallation of my rugs. They were on their hands and knees making sure the rug was perfectly placed and smooth and then even placed my furniture back on it. And all very affordable. Not to mention the cleaning process and out come. I know I sound like a family member but I had never met any of them before...but you would never know it. We cannot say enough about the outstanding service we received from Pettyjohn's. Their prompt response (on a holiday weekend, no less!) and immediate action spared us from what could have been an extremely costly repair. Their website promises an "immediate 24/7 response," and that is no exaggeration. We received a return call from the owner within minutes, and Robert Pettyjohn himself was at our home within the hour. A leak that started in an upstairs bathroom caused water damage in a large, adjacent walk-in closet as well as in the kitchen ceiling below. Robert quickly assessed the situation and determined that an industrial-strength dryer/heater would be needed in each location for a few days. He came prepared with these units already on his truck, and no doubt the quick start to the drying-out process was critical to our eventual good outcome. Robert came back personally over the next few days to monitor our progress. He and his staff were able to remove the soggy carpet padding from the closet, dry it out back at the shop, and then re-install the wall-to-wall. Yes, we had some cracks and a stained ceiling in our kitchen over the holidays. And we had to be patient for our painter to get to us. But we're finally back together, and it's all good. While we certainly wish the entire event had never happened, we were truly fortunate to have Pettyjohn's there when we needed them. STAY AWAY!!!!!! We had an awful experience using Pettyjohn's. We had Mr PettyJohn come out for water damage. Let me tell you, I should of had a car salesman come out. I had the hardest time getting an estimate, until finally things were ripped apart, then I got a quote for thousands of dollars. Mr Pettyjohn, pitched me the services of his buddy, who is the first person that has rated Pettyjohh. Ratings from David B, are from the individual that Mr Pettyjohn sent over to give me an outrageous quote. Be careful, in my opinion these two work together to take advantage of folks. They come to a residence that has water damage and take them for a ride. This was an experience that comprised of many issues. We had lack of communication on times folks would show up, pricing, options, and honesty. I had my carpet removed and didn't get it back for about two weeks, after I called and expressed concern. The last attempt to talk and work things out was blown off. I had to reach out, but instead of ANY apology, I was given excuses and made out to be the one in the wrong.
