Animal Hospital Highlands Ranch I went to PetVet 365 for one thing only: a rabies shot for my dog. My wife had made the appointment, but couldn't go, so she sent me. I had never been to a vet before. I assumed this would be a quick in-and-out visit. Instead, Dr. Jeff Lowry and his assistant began telling me my dog could die from worms carried by mosquitoes and immediately started pushing preventative programs and treatments. I made it very clear that I don't make these decisions -- my wife does. I told them multiple times to take it up with her. What actually happened was shocking. I was never shown an itemized bill, never shown what they were typing into their computer, never signed or authorized anything. I assumed I was paying for the rabies shot and handed them my wife's debit card. I didn't even look at the receipt until I got home. That's when I discovered they had charged me almost $1,200. $1,200 for what? They sent me home with a box of supplements that cost about $5 online -- yet they billed nearly $300 for it. They gave my dog multiple shots that weren't needed, because we already get those at our regular vet clinic. This visit was supposed to be just a rabies shot because our usual veterinarian couldn't do it that day. When my wife called to dispute the charges and to clearly explain what she ordered to be performed prior to this appointment, Dr. Lowry was condescending and insulting. He even had the nerve to criticize my marriage after 38 years, telling us we should "communicate better." Let me be absolutely clear: I was the dog chauffer and asked to take the dog to a scheduled appointment. I did not authorize these charges. I did not see or sign any receipt before being billed. I did not realize that PetVet and Dr. Jeff Lowry were going to invoice for their suggested pet care list of maintenance - I was simply listening to them tell me what they think needs to be done. I was never shown itemized costs. I assumed I was paying for the rabies vaccine only. This entire experience was predatory. I walked in for a rabies shot and was blindsided with an almost $1,200 bill for things I never agreed to. I am not close to exposing this and will return later. read more

Had a great experience. Stanley was comfortable being touched and I felt like they genuinely cared about him and everything we had to say. They understood that while we want to do anything and everything for him financially we can't currently and worked with us. Very nice clean and again just felt like they genuinely cared. I have taken my senior dog (chihuahua) and two senior cats to petvet365. I love they are open on weekends. I appreciate the fear free approach, as all of my pets are chickens. Ha. Unfortunately, both of my cats had to be put down within two months of each other. I was absolutely heartbroken with each, and everyone was extremely kind. This place is incredible. I have been looking for a vet like this for years. A lot of places claim to be "fear free certified" but do not even come close to what this practice is doing. I have 2 very anxious dogs who are generally extremely nervous at the vet and we all leave traumatized by the end of the visit. By the end of the visit at PetVet 365 both dogs were lying down and relaxing in the floor. The whole experience was easy and stress free. I love that you get to wait in the car until your appointment and there are no other animals or people in the lobby when you walk in. The scales are hidden by a rug so my pups walked onto it and ate their whipped cream in a cup provided by the vet tech. The exam room looks like a regular room with a rug, dog toys, and treats. The fact that this practice is open 7 days a week, 365 days per year is also an amazing bonus. We loved Dr. Jeff- he was very calm, kind, and patient. You can tell he loves animals and cares about his patients. I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more

We left this clinic a long time ago. Dr. Koenig is arrogant and rude. After taking our two pups there for well care for many, many years, we were told to go to an ER for a suspected UTI because Dr. Koenig was too busy doing surgeries, all week long. He books himself with the high dollar appointments, leaving no acute care openings. I found this to be unprofessional, and an abandoment of care for his long-term established patients. When I told the receptionist this, she responded by saying something like, 'well if you don't like it, you can go elsewhere.' So, we did. I did a decent amount of research in finding a good vet for my new pups which had me come across Alpenview Vet hospital. This was my experience from beginning to end. When I called, the gentleman on the phone was hospitable while taking my info and setting the appointment. I believe he was the same person when I came into the office as well. He greeted me and took the boys weight and directed me into the exam room, which was a 6x6 closet so small the exam table was affixed to the wall. I was filling out the initial paper and a girl opens the door and says, "Is this all their medical records?" and I replied, "yes". She closes the door and leaves. I have not taken the pups for any veterinary appointments since I picked them up a year ago from a breeder, so they have not had any vaccinations or a checkup. She then comes back into the room and begins to "recommend" all these vaccinations/tests that they would like to do on the pups. First off, what happened to, "Hi, my name is India, it's nice to meet you and your pups." Instead, I get nothing. Absolutely NO normal human interaction here! How can I feel comfortable and confident with their health care services for my dogs when this is how I'm treated the first visit? This made me feel so uncomfortable. I walked out of the exam room, told the gentleman at the front desk, "I apologize, but I would like to cancel my appointment. I feel uncomfortable here. Thank you." Your office staff and techs are the clients first experience with your practice. Coach them better. Be kind and courteous. Not a direct salesman with no people skills! Pet 365 (formerly Alpenview) is typical of corporation vet care whose lead vet is dubious and animals are not a top priority. Riding on the coat tails of the past staff and not a vet who should be trusted as he is selective in the care willing to provide and has no issue charging high prices. We moved all our animals to a new private vet who is amazing. Sad to see another corporation in Highlands Ranch. read more

We brought a new shepherd mix home from the DdFL shelter. Alpenview participated in a Wellness check for new adoptees. Dr. Koenig and his staff were pleasant, informative, and kind to our new family member. Fast forward a couple of months later, Kona got an infection and had trouble bearing weight on her paws due to inflammation. The Alpenview staff saw him immediately, and even while adhering to Social Distancing rules, took great care of Kona. On both occasions Dr. Koenig Nicole , and the staff were accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. Follow up calls and checking in are rare, both times their follow up was helpful to us. I have been taking my Jack Russell and two cats to Alpenview for over 10 years. It's great to have a vet that knows my dog and cats so when I call Alpenview with any concerns they know exactly who I am and can start the ball rolling on what, if any, course of action should be taken. Dr. Koenig is a great Veterinarian and Nicole and Angelina take terrific care of my pets. They all truly care and are extremely knowledgeable about dogs and cats. Not able to handle curbside appointments. Tried to call when in Parking lot and unable to get through to office. No text option. Finally went to front door after multiple attempts. Five minutes to be acknowledged at the door and was told all staff was on the phone and would come out when able. Which was 15 minutes past scheduled appointment. No apologies. This event has pushed me over as there has been other concerns. Somewhat on the more expensive side as well. Witnessed Dr Koenig berate a client about not being able to afford treatments or exams on dog in the lobby. Not familiar with history of dog that we have been seeing for the last 6 years. Wanted to repeat X-rays that were done a couple years ago. Not seeing previous diagnosis. Every appointment Dr. Koenig always suggesting some sort of surgery on pets. His tone certainly changes when you pass on surgery. Especially during this time of COVID spending over $2000 is a hard decision to make. Will now be getting second opinions. We recently had to put our beautiful cat Phoebe to sleep, she was almost 16 years old and had kidney failure. It was the first time in our lives we had ever had to put an animal to sleep and were absolutely devastated. Dr Koenig couldn't have made it any easier and pain free for Phoebe. Dr. Koenig and his team were nice to work with after the first year that we moved to Colorado. He did surgery on your Lab removing cancer from his knee, which we are grateful for, as well as attempted surgery on our bulldogs cherry eye a couple times. His Vet Assist Nicole is great to work with and has a lot of compassion and understanding. As time wore I, my wife and I had the distinct impression that Dr. Koenig did not like us and made us feel guilty over the choices we made for our pets. As a family with three young kids and two dogs, sadly pet expenses are secondary to our children's medical expenses the last couple years. As our Lab turned 14, he tore his back knee up. Dr. Koenig advised a $4k surgery which we could not justify, so we were told, here are some pain pills. He is still with us taking g & c each day, moves a bit slower, still plays, but was a bit shocked at the guilt we were given over not doing the surgery on our elderly dog. For our bulldog, after two attempts of fixing his cherry eye which failed, I was told that we needed to go to a dog ophthalmologist for another attempt at $2500 who had a 50% failure rate with bulldogs. I had spoken to a previous one who quoted $2k and said that there would be a 50% failure rate as well to just stitch and correct. I asked why the cherry eye could not just be removed like procedure was done prior to the stitch technique and was given a guilt trip that this was cruel and the dog would suffer with dry tear ducts. Needless to say, last time in, we did an eye test and bingo, the dog has dry eyes anyways and is on tear drops, so removal surgery would not be any worse then what he is currently on.... To my wife and I, this felt like another way to make referral fees and put our dog through a surgery that was going to ultimately fail. I spoke with CSU Vet Hospital and they advised to either double stitch the duct or remove completely. They quoted $750 so we may go this route or talk to our new local vet at check-up time. I think we would have looked past some of this conflict if my wife did not feel like each time we went there, that we were portrayed as being stupid when we questioned care over our pets, told by the Dr. Koenig that it was pretty dumb that we left our tract home in HR to move to Larkspur and have over an acre of year to let our dogs roam and kids play on and not move from the standard allergy pills to the $200 a month option proposed. This was tough to review since Dr. Koenig did a lot of good early on, but I think he disliked us and our questioning of his proposals (perhaps people in HR never question Vet care...I don't know), so from a rating standpoint, I am giving this a 3 stars since Nicole was awesome to work with. Towards the end of our time, I would probably would have rated this 1-2 stars since we dreaded going anywhere near the office and would go in for RX refills on days he was not around (i.e. Wednesday afternoons) to avoid confrontation. read more

Originally went for the acupuncture, now I've been talking my dogs to Dr Koenig for over four years and will never go anywhere else. Dr K and his staff are intimately familiar with all their little patients' histories and needs. I have taken special needs dogs, elderly dogs, a dog with cancer... they have received fabulous care. Over the years it has become very apparent that Dr K's first concern is, without question, his patient(s). Dr Koenig will research treatments when required, though in my experience his instincts are spot on. His follow up is the best I've experienced. My dogs also are very comfortable there, even when, at times, the treatment(s) can be unpleasant. Highly recommend, and have done so on many occasions. read more

What I appreciate most of Dr Koenig's care is that he presented all options. Having 2 elderly dogs, one with a brain tumor, there was a fine line between extended care and quality of life. I highly suggest Dr Koenig and Nicole for any of your veterinary care. read more

I brought my 2 cats, recently adopted from the Dumb Friends League, and the whole team is very nice and very knowledgeable. They honored the free first visit for the shelter kitties and were right on top of some issues they had from being kenneled (virus/infection) with prescriptions. They seemed mindful of costs (said they were the lowest in the area and had lowest prescription costs), however after my 3rd visit there I noticed a $38 "consult fee" PER ANIMAL even though we had just been there a month before for our wellness checks!! I checked out another local Vet and they do not charge the consult fee when the animal is seen yearly. Im not sure why Ive paid $160 (2 animals) in these fees from my last 2 visits but I asked about it and she said that's what they charge. I have a 2 series vaccination and she said on the 2nd vaccination (to get that immunity; influenza) they still charge that fee!! I am going to a new Vet now; too many fees. Also, they recommend every surgery possible and on an 11 year old dog getting $10K in surgeries are not at the top of my list. Friendly people but we will be heading somewhere else to save money. read more
