Pezzzzz! Visited on a Thursday afternoon and surprisingly my sister and I weren't the only ones there. It cost $5 per person to get in and you get a lanyard that acts as your ticket in. We were really disappointed when we couldn't find the coupons in the display case at the rest stop before Pez for $1 off and the guy at the counter wouldn't take the picture of it. Anyways, case after case of Pez dispensers from throughout the years! It was really fun looking around and also trying to find the seven dwarves for the treasure hunt to get a free Pez dispenser. They also have full size samples of 6 or 7 flavors too! Each ticket purchased also gives back $2 store credit, so we had $4 to spend. Most of the dispensers are $2 with the exception of the original which was $3. Definitely a fun time for a side visit and if you can get your hands on the coupon then the visit practically pays for itself in lanyard, dispenser and free samples. read more

Being a lover of manufacturing and production lines, I always get excited when I learn of a local company that offers tours. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with this tour - not really a tour at all. Just a couple of windows overlooking the shipping line - not really the most interesting part of the operation for sure. No one to ask questions to or no seeing the more exciting parts of the flow. There are a few tvs you can watch with pre-fab videos repeating above the windows, but I would much more prefer to see the real thing...not a video. If I wanted a video, I could watch How It's Made on TV. They do have an extensive collection of dispensers on view, but when it came to the actual options for sale, I wish there was a limited edition (only offered there) option which would serve to be a nice addition to our collection of trip reminders. The cost of the tour is $5, which after being there seems a bit too pricey for what you actually get for that $5. They give you a $2 coupon so you can buy PEZ paraphernalia in their gift shop, but that's only because they overcharge you for the "not really a tour" in the first place. Overall, glad I stopped in for a quick trip down memory lane as it really did bring me back to my childhood for a minute. I packed up the rental car, and drove two and a half hours southwest from central Massachusetts to arrive here. Towards the end of the drive on the highway, there were blue signs indicating directions to the PEZ visitor center. They were clear and quite visible. After following them for a bit I found myself in their parking lot. I was quite excited to be here. I ran up to the door and rushed in; a motorcycle suspended from the ceiling, and a wall of PEZ welcomed me to Orange, Connecticut. Nice ladies greeted me and sold tickets for entry. Guest pass I can keep? For realsies? $4 to use in the gift shop right on the receipt? Super Sweet! I entered and looked around. The tour was self-guided, and contained around the periphery of the one large room, that doubled as the store. Windows looked into the factory where they made and packaged the candy. Interesting stuff. A combination of hands on displays, plaques containing information on the walls, and computer displays told the tale of the PEZ. The neat bit was where they tied real world things in with PEZ history. Years, presidential info, popular toys and median incomes were printed next to years where important PEZ events took place. Televisions played bits of movies and television shows that featured PEZ candies. Well done, very nest way to connect with people. After meandering around, I poked around the central bit of the room, the store. I threw an assortment of things in a basket. Everything was so inexpensive. PEZ dispensers were 2-3 dollars, all manner of PEZ flavors only 2ish dollars. Many PEZ dispensers and flavors, post cards, & refrigerator magnet later...the girl behind the register swiped my card for fifty dollars. Other girl behind the counter offered to demonstrate the making of PEZ candies, and brought us to the other side of the floor by the factory windows. She then demonstrated the ingredients, and put them through a small stamping machine. FYI: it takes 3000 lbs of pressure for PEZ to be squished into form. After the machine spat them out, she handed us fresh PEZ to try. It was interesting, and a neat demo. It's a fun place, but not a huge tour, more a store with historical factoids on the walls. But still, interesting and well worth the drive if your in New England. read more

Took two children under the age of 4 to this place. Was a great stop over road trip place on the way to Boston but wouldn't recommend going there just for that place. The visit lasted all of 15 minutes to check out the two floors. The two adult admission of $10 also came with two free pet dispensers if you filled out the game card and $4 off the store. read more

Worth the visit if in the area, and I love to visit factories. And the admission price is cheap only $5, and you get $2 credit back to spend in the gift shop. I like the history and museum of how they make pez and the different dispensers. The only complaint is that you don't get to really to tour the factory, you can see some of the action through some windows, and the rest of the tour is more of a museum of the many varieties of pez dispensers and what they looked like at the beginning. They have a cool area where you can fill a bucket container with whichever favorite pez flavor of your liking. They have some strange pez flavors to try like sours and cola. My wife took me here when we were traveling on I-95. We showed up right before they were closing, so they let us in free. It's well worth the stop - especially considering that for us, it was basically a rest stop on a long drive with clean bathrooms and impressive exhibits. It's a small but nicely-designed and maintained museum. There is a window into the factory, and they have demonstrations at certain times. There's a wall that highlights the history of the company. There's an impressive collection of historical Pez dispensers with interesting blurbs about them, including what prices they have fetched in the past. Think of it as a miniature museum or the best rest stop ever. read more

So when you travel with a dorkie boyfriend and his best (equally as dorkie) friend you get a last minute to exit when there is a billboard that says "PEZ Museum". I'll have to admit, this was a pretty cool find. I lived in CT for 4 years and I had no idea this place was here. You can definitely see the signs off I-95 so if you are road tripping through here, you would definitely see it. It's a very small museum, but they really do have every Pez dispenser ever made. You can even buy Pez in bulk in some pretty random flavors. Your admission of $5 includes a lanyard and a $2 store credit (enough for a Pez dispenser). So..you could splurge it on one dispenser or on a collection of dispensers (ie the Disney, Star Trek, Star wars collections) You can also get a good history of Pez and see the actual product line. If you go during the week you can watch them make Pez. But if you go on the weekends it will be dead silent and the smell of sugar in will give you a mouth full of cavities. Great place to visit if you are looking for something cool to do for about an hour. read more

We stumbled across this place when looking for tourist destinations in the area. We like PEZ and have collected a few of the dispensers over the past 20+ years. We also have a few dispensers from the 70's. However, we had no idea of the wide variety of cool stuff PEZ had created over the years! We also didn't realize PEZ originated as a smoking cessation product. I know, I know - everybody knows that stuff... but we didn't. The "museum" is very interesting and informative. Walked in expecting nothing and walked out with a bag full of specialty gifts and collectors items. Endless displays of PEZ dispensers. From the visitors center you can see workers package wrapped PEZ items into boxes to be shipped around the world. Pretty cool. A video mentions how PEZ began as a breath mint for adults in 1927. Wonderful experience at the PEZ museum and gift shop. Very inexpensive to get in and the amount of PEZ they have is incredible, old, new, rare, international, everything. Pez motorcycle was my favorite, made by the orange county choppers from tv. Upstairs, downstairs, factory, incredible stuff everywhere. You can see the factory workers making the pez during the week. You can sample the candy being made. They have an enormous amount of pez for sale too, some you can only get there. It was very busy when we were there, lots of kids and noisy too. It is a very modern place, light and bright. The employees working at the gift shop could have been a bit friendlier, but it was an awesome experience. read more

So this is really more of a place to go and get nostalgic...then buy stuff. It would be a lot better IF they actually either provided a floor tour or did something so that you could see in a bit better. They do have a glass wall to look onto the floor, but the workers and the activates are so far back, you have no idea what is going on. Upstairs in the lounge they could add a window to watch, but is it just a solid wall. The museum though is really cool with lots of old Pez dispensers and adverts. The history wall is full of neat information. Originally an idea for kicking the smoking habit, who knew? Well I didn't. Anyway, worth a stop IF you were a Pez Head in your youth. read more

Visited the PEZ visitor center with us and our 4 youngsters 1.5 a 7 years old. We all had a good time looking at the memorabilia and watching the happenings in the factory. We were unable to do the factory tour due to it being sold out, but they say it would be better for the oldest as he is the only one older than 6. We stumbled upon the Galactic Headquarters for PEZ yesterday while cruising through Connecticut. Stopping in, we treated ourselves to a little PEZ history, a view of how they make the little darling tablets, and rare dispensers through the ages. Are you looking for something weird to do? Check out the Pez Factory, Museum, and Store. I have never been super fond of Pez, but the factory looked really cool. You don't get to fully go into the factory but you can look into it. The tour/museum is all self-guided and there games to play like trivia and matching games on touch screens. They also had a scavenger hunt that you can do by locating and labeling the dispensers that you find. Once you complete it, you get to spin a wheel and get a free dispenser. Pez has a much more involved history than I would have thought, and they have a bunch of old paraphernalia on display. You also can make your own bucket full of Pez. I was looking forward the visitor center being more of a museum :/ Its a great place for kids to run around and look at the pez displays, but I feel that even they would get bored after about 30 minutes. When I first went in it was a little overwhelming and over the top. The people who work there are very friendly and can answer all questions about PEZ. The museum is set up, and involves you very much. You can post a video of yourself, and then send it on to friends. There is a quiz kiosk, where you take the quiz, and get a printed out certificate. The dispensers are organized well. There is a shop there with some neat souvenirs, some of which are only available at the museum. The history board is well illustrated with little quizzes along the way. There is a balcony where you can bring a lunch and enjoy a bit of relaxation and then go back down to the museum. It's worth coming here just because of the smell outside this place. The location is great, right off the Connecticut Turnpike on the long drive from DC to Boston via NJ, and the museum is awesome. The part where you got to try fresh PEZ was really fun, especially because fresh PEZ is really soft and yummy. The history of PEZ was also neat to learn about, being something not everyone knows the history of. Driving home from NYC on a Sunday afternoon, we saw a sign for the PEZ Visitor Center off the next exit. I'm not much of a pez enthusiast, but my husband was intrigued, so off we went. It was pretty easy to find, the signage is very clear once you're off the highway. Parking is ample. We walked in and paid $5 for each adult, so it was $11 including tax. I was a little put-off by that (as it is really only one big room filled with pez-facts) until I learned there was a $4 off coupon on our receipt good towards anything we purchased. sweet! I would say, for most adults, this is a 20-25 minute venture at most. There are some interesting facts on the walls, some old-time pez in glass cases to gaze at and more pez candies available to purchase than you could ever truly need. We ended up getting two pez dispensers and a pack of sour assorted flavor pez. With our $4.00 coupon our total was right under $2.00. pretty good deal if you ask me. For two grown adults it was a little underwhelming, but bring your kids here (especially on a weekday when the factory is up and running) and they would probably have a blast. read more

There aren't many indoor, touristy things to do in this area, so when my mom came, this was definitely on the list of things to do! On arriving at the factory they give you a bag containing sweets, a dispenser and a $2 voucher to spend in the gift shop. You are then left to look around two rooms. There are boards which explain the history of pez and how it evolved. Glass windows allowing you to look onto the factory floor so you can see the pez being made/boxed. There are several display cases with the 100's of dispensers they used to sell. To be honest it didn't take all that long for us to look around, so we delved into the goody bag we'd been given at the beginning and found a card with a game on it. The aim was to look at pictures of dispensers and identify their correct names by searching for them in the display cases. This made us look closely at the old dispensers and appreciate the details in them. We won more candy for completing the game. This is a fun activity but probably more for older kids. read more

Did you know that PEZ candy started in Austria in 1927 as a mint for people who were trying to quit smoking? Neither did I until I went to the PEZ Visitor Center. We passed a sign for it on the highway and made a detour just to stop in. And we had a blast! When we first stepped out of the car, we were met with the smell of PEZ in the air, because the visitor center is attached to the factory. You can even see into the factory through large glass windows in the center. PEZ from six decades are in display in glass cases, and informative wall signage breaks down PEZ by each decade. My favorite part was the display on the second floor of various Japanese PEZ dispensers that weren't available in America, like Tamagotchi and Pokemon. But the best part of the Visitor Center was the shop. You can get a pick-a-mix-style assortment from glass containers and put them in a tin pail, or assemble a custom PEZ dispenser. The shop also sells t-shirts, baseball caps, and of course every PEZ dispenser under the sun. I was a little surprised at first at the $5.50 admission fee, but you get a $2.00 credit towards purchases in the gift shop. read more

This place was so much fun. A friend and I (both adults) spent about an hour here and enjoyed checking out the old PEZ dispensers and videos. It is fun for kids but also for adults, especially as I don't think PEZ is as popular as it was as none of the kids I know are active PEZ consumers. I went here yesterday with a 12 year old in tow. We were excited about touring a candy factory. I thought we'd be getting more band for our buck, but unless you are with a group and have permission, it's unlikely you can go truly behind the scenes. The staff members are all very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy enough and the GPS got us to the location without any problems. There are seating areas outside and on the 2nd floor lounge, snack/drink machines are half-stocked. You pay $5 for adults and $4 for kids to get into a gift shop that has a handful of museum-like displays and some big windows into the "factory". You see lots of people with hairnets and white coats. Some of them occasionally wave at gawkers. If you catch the timing perfectly you can see the actual candy press machine in action. And, the manager will occasionally give a talk (answering questions) from behind the glass. We took lots of pictures, then started trying to decide what to put our $2 each credit towards. They have about 12 different flavors to pick from. Lots of dispenser designs ($1.99 each for a dispenser with three "rolls" of candy), and some t-shirts to pick from. No pins or patches for those of you who like to collect those, though I did make that suggestion at the check-out counter. If you are a fan of candy or CT-based factories, this is a place to visit. The whole ordeal would take anywhere from 30-90 minutes. Pair it up with lunch on the Post Road or a hike at Racebrook Tract Recreational Area. read more
