Our large party [adults & children] had a phenomenal experience at Pézkame in Luquillo [San Juan]. We called a few hours before to make dinner reservation and their process was completely seamless. They accommodated our big group perfectly, and the entire staff handled the seating and service without a single hiccup. When we arrived, our table was ready and made it easy for everyone to talk and enjoy the evening together. We kicked off the night with classic cocktails cultivated by our bartender, Samuel. The mixed drinks were nicely complimented with the coconut bread, fried cheese and an absolutely phenomenal tuna tartare which set the bar incredibly high for the rest of the meal. The absolute highlight of the night was bringing in our own freshly caught fish, a king mackerel. Reservation is highly recommended if you plan to do this. The kitchen prepared it three ways for us--into the most vibrant, citrusy ceviche, incredible fish tacos and seared mackerel steaks to absolute perfection. The multiple styles blew us away and tasted unbelievably fresh. Every other dish we ordered were equally spectacular. The Peruvian fried rice was packed with flavor and the octopus was perfectly tender. You can't leave PR without trying the plantains, which added the perfect touch of sweetness to our culinary smorgasbord. Our server, Johaneyshka was incredibly attentive and kept the entire evening running smoothly. To top it all off, the owner, Jose personally came out to our table to talk with us. He was super nice, deeply knowledgeable, and incredibly well-versed in the food and flavors. He shared his passion for a cuisine that nurtures the soul, fills the belly, and brings his culture to life, revealing it as the driving force behind his restaurant. The food was authentic and absolutely delicious. The waitstaff were friendly, and the inside has a cheerful, comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Everything we ordered was excellent--the fish tacos, ceviche, pollo chaufa, lomo saltado, and shrimp huancaína did not disappoint. Every dish was flavorful and genuinely delicious. We'd definitely come back! One minor negative was some nickel-and-diming on extras. When we asked for water for the table, we were brought five $2 bottles rather than tap water. We were also charged $1.50 for a tiny takeout container of hot sauce--about a ketchup packet's worth--to go with our two orders of fish tacos. Neither charge was mentioned when we asked. Not a big deal given how much we enjoyed the meal, but something to be aware of. read more

Everything we got from Pezkame was a 10 out of 10. They have the best hand-breaded fried fish tacos, amazing Peruvian seafood stew, and fish ceviche. The restaurant is a quaint spot close to Highway three. The best ceviche! They had a table with some dinosaurs. Our granddaughters could play with so they were entertained. Best place in the Fajardo/ Luquillo area! We brought in a whole tuna that we had caught earlier in the day. They fried some of it for fish tacos and seared the rest for a delicious pasta dish which included peppers, onions and Peruvian seasonings. I also ordered a cinnamon mojito which was exceptional. We arrived @8 PM and were told the large tables were all reserved and directed to a small table by the wall. There was one table that had 3 people at it. The rest were empty. The waiter, however, was very polite and explained all the dishes to us. We both ordered the huancaina pasta. Mine was with shrimp...large and plentiful. My husband had his with churrasco mixed in. We both enjoyed our meals. The drink made with purple corn and spices was good, too. We figured everyone was anxious to go home as it was past 9 and we were the only ones in the restaurant. We joked with each other that we probably wouldn't be offered dessert. However, the waiter came to our table and cheerfully asked if we wanted dessert. We shared the guava custard. It was very good and the topping made with red wine and whipped into a kind of airy meringue was really interesting. The staff was very sweet and all wished us a good evening as we left. The tables that were reserved were never filled. Not sure what the purpose of that was but since the waiter was so pleasant and the food was very good we walked away happy. read more

Honestly, this was the best meal that we had during our weeklong trip in PR. Maybe the PR food we had at other places had been toned down, but not at Pezkame. Full flavor, good portion sizes, reasonable price, nicely decorated interior (outside has a bit of a strip mall feel). The food is excellent!! I have loved everything I have tried!! The ceviche, carne frita, fish tacos, tacu tacu with lomo, the pasta with huancaina sauce-- everything. It has a great vibe. I love the bar. The mixed drinks are made with love, and the service is fantastic. You can tell the employees are happy and they share that joy.
