There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.

BG Automotive? More like "BS" Automotive. The one star is for an oil change (since 0 stars is not…read morean option). BG Auto IS SHADY, smooth talking for sure, but A RIP OFF. STAY AWAY. This is a lengthy description, but it's not half the story. To all the glowing 5 star reviewers - check your invoices. The problem started with their "courtesy inspection" accompanying the oil change, where half of their recommendations (deemed red flag "Requires Immediate Attention") ultimately turned out to be mostly unnecessary and absurdly expensive. That became apparent only after paying. My bad, of course, I obviously should have asked to see a detailed estimate prior to the work. The initial estimate did not provide parts or labor detail & appeared to indicate the work was part of a "complete tune up." Upon dropping off the truck, "Service Advisor"Jesse stated that Champion copper spark plugs had been factory installed on 2013 RAM 2500s, so that was best & what BG would install. Classic BAIT & SWITCH: BG charged $508.48 for a set of 16 plugs! When I challenged the bill, asking if "kryptonite plugs" were installed instead, Jesse indicated, no, the copper plugs were used... then he checked his computer & stated, actually no, in fact the [far] more expensive NKG iridium plugs were installed. "They're much better because they last up to 100,000 miles," he emphasized. I replied, "Great. BG just changed out NGK iridium plugs that had been in the engine already, with only 60,000 miles on them." The WORK WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. Also on the bill was a "TOTAL FEES" charge of $175.77 (yes, that specific), but with ZERO DETAIL of what those fees were for or how they were calculated. Jesse couldn't provide that detail either, "It could be shop supplies, or hazardous disposal - you know, those state regulations - it could be almost anything." Note there were no hazardous materials involved with this work, such as a tire or battery disposal fee. (Google search indicates: In Colorado, shop fees are usually calculated as a percentage of the labor cost (e.g., 5-10%) and are often capped at a maximum amount (e.g., $25 to $50). Also, Colorado statute requires the repair invoice to have some kind of description of these fees, and further, "a description of each part by name and identifying number." Nowhere on the invoice was the type of plugs installed specified, either. You get NADA DETAIL from BS Automotive. Finally, while repair shops typically mark up parts 70-100% of wholesale price, BG is marking up parts in the ballpark of 100% of retail price. (If you can pry out of them the parts brand they say they'll use, you can easily verify this with a Google search at their counter.) They should be ashamed and embarrassed for what they're charging the hardworking folks of Longmont. When pressed to justify the charges, Jesse insisted they were competitive, "within 5% of other local repair shops." More BS. Comparing apples to apples (parts & labor only), the local dealership quoted over $200 less, the Loveland repair shop I've frequented in the past was over $400 less (obviously, checked after the fact...). If the handful of other shops Jesse quoted are actually within 5%, they are ripping us off too. Jesse would not budge on the final bill, but he did offer to comp me an oil change. As if! I had already told him I would never set foot in BG Automotive again. However, I would take a call from the BG Automotive (Owner) to provide the rest of the story about this pathetic BG encounter.

For this reason, they will always get my business unless it is absolutely necessary to go to the Ford dealer (in which case I only recommend Sil-Terhar in Broomfield). My F150 recently needed a new battery, and at the time the old one died for the last time, my heater stopped working. They could have told me that I needed a new heater core, new heat/ac blender actuator, or blender door (all ranging from $250-$400 in repairs). Instead, they took the time to troubleshoot, and only needed to reset the HVAC module - less than an hour's worth of labor and no parts. What's more, they contacted me mid-day (same day) to let me know that it was ready to be picked up. Many other garages would have torn my dashboard apart and gone the wrong way with troubleshooting this. I don't have enough words to express my gratitude for their professionalism!

He installed a old EFI USED The wired he installed all loose sitting on intake. I had my bronco covered cause the seats were in mint condition. I paid for all the work upon completion until the EFI. He demanded money order or cash. He said if I put it in a money order to put it in his mom's name. He said he would not release my bronco unless I paid I. That way even thought I paid cash for everything and even paid cash for the EFI unit and told him I could pay cash for balance. I ended up involving the police. I had them on site to help scare him so I could pay it off and get my Bronco.

The girl at the counter had a look on her face that was half confused and half surprised like "oh wow, a customer?" as she quickly scurried to grab the tablet to sign me in we took a few laps around my vehicle to take pictures, we then go back into the waiting area and she proceeds to tell me that she needs to call the mechanic to come to the shop to perform the work and now I am the one that has the confused look. Around a half an hour passes and the mechanic strolls in and drives my vehicle in the shop and proceeds to determine the parts needed for the oil change, he then tells the counter girl what parts are needed and she calls the auto parts store because even though they offer oils changes have no parts or no oil. At this point I wondered if I had somehow drove to Cooters Garage and was half expecting Beau and Luke Duke to drive past in the General Lee. More time passes by as we wait for the oil and the parts but I cant really tell the amount since they had a Friends marathon going on the tv in the waiting area and I was already 3 episodes deep. After the the parts arrive, counter girl takes them back to Cooter and about 15 mins later he brings my vehicle out with big grease smudges on my door and what looks like a dent, but I was so distraught at the length that I had to spend there that I didnt want to spend one more second.
