What a wonderful experience! Before finding Ben, I had been putting off getting my AC charged in my old Tacoma for a couple of years now just because I didn't want to deal with the runaround at the dealers or overpriced shops that don't employ any real mechanics. I'm so thankful to have found these guys!!!! Ben and his crew truly are the last of a dying breed. These guys don't just read codes all day, they actually look at your vehicle! What a breath of fresh air! I'm also really impressed with the level of communication I received. I'm used to the "drop your car off and wait all day without a call" game and that's now not how they do it here! I was also pretty caught off guard when my truck was ready before noon!!!! Ben communicated with me the entire morning, giving me the play by play on what they found and what the plan was. They also had some really nice finishing touches like cleaning out the acorns that had apparently taken up shop in my blower motor, and tightened my squeaky alternator belt! My fiancé and I had a small $300 job we needed addressed with our extra vehicle. I was familiar with this business owner via Facebook. While we don't tend to agree on matters of politics, I strongly encouraged my fiancé to take our truck to Ben. We called four times in the period of one month and never received a returned phone call. I reached out over social media and finally heard back that the job was too small for him to get to. I prefer doing business with someone who sees the big picture, and knows that a small job now done well could lead to a lifetime customer. We have six kids, three of which will be driving in the next two years. We took our vehicle to Larry at County Line, who returned our call promptly and got us in immediately, despite being booked solid. We will be lifetime customers of Larry's as a result. Like that moment in Pretty Woman, "big mistake! Huge!" This is my go to place for auto repairs. Ben gets the job done. Affordable and most repairs are done the same day. I highly recommend this business. Just recently had my wife's Jeep repaired (rear brakes) and as expected, the repairs were done right and at a good price. A dealer told us we also needed the front brakes changed, including rotors. I am pretty knowledgable about vehicles and was convinced I was having an issue with the drivetrain on my pickup, which can be an expensive repair. We are staying in Erie temporarily so I searched for a local shop out of convenience. Upon seeing good reviews I dropped by Sun Mountain and arranged to leave the pickup the next day. They listened to my explanation of the issue and thoroughly checked out the truck. Later that day I stopped back in and they let me know the issue was really just in the nature of this model pickup and it was in great shape. Though it did take quite a bit of time to check the pickup, they refused to charge me, explaining "don't worry, we are sure you will bring us other work in the future". Damn right I will! It is very rare these days to find a shop that is honest and customer centric. Don't expect a big shop with a fancy waiting room. The place is simple, low overhead cost, at the back of a commercial complex and a bit cluttered. But I am convinced they are very knowledgable, honest and have excellent pricing. I will certainly be back for future work on our vehicles. read more

Really impressed with this shop! Not only is Ben extremely fair with his pricing, he did an excellent job on my car. I felt shaking at higher speeds and told Ben about it. He checked over the car and let me know I had a good amount of brakes left, however, that Honda's are known for their rotors wearing. I chose to do the pads & rotors just because of the issue, but it was really nice that he was totally honest not to make me do work that wasn't necessarily needed right away. He also changed the oil, repaired a tire and aligned my car. All in one day!! That is something. Really happy to have found a reliable and honest mechanic and even better he was flexible with my drop off and pick up allowing them to happen after hours. I did the research on garages that work on my boyfriend's 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. Ben's shop came highly recommended. It took about a week to get an appointment he is busy . He replaced the clutch fan and thermostat, replaced the u joints and seals on the front end. He flushed the radiator and changed the coolant. He checked the driveshaft and said it didn't need any work. The most remarkable thing about Ben is his honesty.That quality says more about him than his exceptional automotive skills. He could have padded the bill, told us more parts needed replacement or just extended the labor hours citing difficulties.None of those commonly used deceptive practises were used at Sun Mountain. It was a great experiance to find him and be totally satisfied with his work and work ethic. I'd drive to use him when we move out of this area. read more

I brought my Audi to them 100% certain I had blown the motor in it and they checked it out and found that it was only a hole in the oil pan, replaced it put a new oil filter and oil in, and it was good to go. They could of easily told me I needed a motor when I didn't and charged me to put it in but they were good honest mechanics and fixed what was broke and nothing else. I can't say enough good things about Ben and Sun Mountain Automotive! He's done various small repairs and maintenance on our vehicles over the last few years and we've always been satisfied with his workmanship, but until recently were not always "exclusive" customers and still used other shops on occasion. A few months ago we had our 06 Freestyle at a local Ford dealer for a scheduled transmission maintenance (because we had a free oil change/tire rotation credit and because we had been told that the CVT transmission on the car required specialized equipment to service properly) and asked them to investigate a small drip we'd noticed. That was a multi-day saga too long for this space, but in the end they diagnosed a leaking power steering pump and 2 engine oil leaks for which the total repair bill was over $2200! We called Ben to ask his pricing on those same repairs and he gave us a much more reasonable ballpark guess but said he'd of course need to check it himself. After leaving the car with Ben for a few days, it turned out the issue was a simple transmission pan gasket and the repair was under $200! He even kept it an extra day to really check it and be certain. We were not only impressed with his work but with his honesty and integrity, as well. We had been upfront about what we assumed to be wrong so he knew we were expecting major repairs- we honestly assumed those were the issues and just hoped for a little savings in cost over the dealer! With that knowledge, he could easily have taken us - fixed the gasket, tinkered around a bit claiming to fix the nonexistent oil leaks, then charged us a whole lot more than $200 and we would never have been the wiser!! Several months later and the leak is still fixed and there have been no issues with either the engine or steering pump, so obviously Ben's diagnosis was correct. We can't thank him enough! It may seem unusual to gush about honesty this way, but I've sadly found that honesty and integrity are all too often absent in most businesses today. We may have started out using Sun Mountain for the convenience of being near our home, but this experience made us customers for life, coupons or not! Honest, trustworthy, fair prices, doesn't try to up-sell services you don't need (in fact, if you ask for a service and he doesn't think you need it or thinks it can wait he will say so), and excellent quality work. The shop is small and stays fairly busy so be sure to plan ahead and make an appointment, but you definitely won't regret it when you do. read more

My husband and I were at a desperation point with my car. My car which is a 2002 Chevy Impala had been running rough for the last couple of days. My husband had replaced a couple of parts thinking that's what the problem was. I did a search on the intranet and found this repair shop with great reviews. We called the shop and explained the problem with our car to Ben and he had us bring it in the same day. The car was fixed within a couple of hours. My car now runs like new.
