It is a very good place with awesome coaches. They encourage you to push your limits. Vasco and Julia are my favorite.

I haven't had a gym membership since before the pandemic -- when i moved to this area, I quit my…read moreprevious gym since it was such a downgrade from the location near my parents. I found myself really missing lifting heavy weights. I could only do so much with my home setup. Everyone has always talked about how Planet Fitness is only $10/month, and it's barely 10 min from my house, so I said... what harm could it do? In an unusual fashion, I'm going to break my review down into a pros & cons list. PROS: Signup - EASY! I didn't have to talk to anyone -- the only thing I asked was if I could walk around and see the gym before committing. When I was done, all I had to do was scan the QR code, make an account on the app and sign up -- no upselling or having small talk with a trainer... it was AMAZING! Cleanliness - seeing sweat every now & then is inevitable, but I have seen way worse. I really appreciate the distribution of disinfectants and hand sanitizer machines. So far, I haven't hit one machine that was empty! Lockers - There are several lockers out on the main floor, so I don't have to walk all the way into the locker room -- that's a win for me! It used to stink back in the day XD. QR Codes - lots of workout machines have QR codes so you can scan and see how the exercises are supposed to be done if you don't know how! Crowd meter - the app will tell you how busy the gym is before you even get there... that saves me a drive, because I don't like working out when it's busy! CONS: Stairmasters - One of my favorite machines, it's great for the legs. And there are 5 of them -- but only 2 are currently operational, and they're right next to each other :-/. I do hope it's only temporary. Location - Planet Fitness is easy to get to, but it's on the corner of Beltway Plaza where a lot of not-so-pleasant incidents occur, especially at night. Despite the 24 hour convenience, I find it in my best interest to avoid going at night if possible. Might be trickier once winter arrives, but I will have to do what I can! Otherwise, for $10/month, it's a no-frills option and I'm a fan. Staff are quite kind, thankfully. I don't know if this is universal in gyms now, but some of their rules fascinate me -- no cell phone usage in the locker room -- is that because of Instagram fitness models or courtesy? And I know what a lunk is now -- I'm happy they take people dropping weights and grunting seriously. That used to be quite disruptive!

This gym is a joke. The cowed meter misrepresents the actual crowd in the gym. You spend more time…read morewaiting for equipment to use than actually getting a workout in. I decided to give them a peek myself, as I am trying to get back into a regular gym membership. I signed up for a free trial online and literally within a minute or two I received a call, haha. Talk about promptness! When I got a chance later on, I went to the gym to experience it. I love the massage area and I appreciate that they have WiFi -- it's essential when trying to listen to online music and the mobile network isn't always reliable. The layout is straightforward and every section has the disinfectant spray and towels. Their rules are clearly displayed and from the crowd everyone seems to conduct themselves pretty well. The locker room is very clean, and while I didn't use one during my visit, there are plenty to choose from -- even some smaller ones near the front. There are two desks near the front, and each one has hand sanitizer. There's also a dispenser next to the front entrance. I really like that you need to be able to scan in to enter, and you get penalized if you let people tail you. It's my first time entering a gym like that, and it's a nice sense of security. And every member gets a free towel and water bottle to use during their session -- nice! FYI, basic membership does not include the classes (they're $15 each otherwise). I do wish there was more hand sanitizer throughout the entire gym and not just in the front, but otherwise I think the spot is a great deal and worth exploring.

So far it hasn't been crowded weight area. There are quite a few pieces of cardio equipment. All in all, I'd say the gym has all you need. Maybe the equipment isn't new, but it appears to be clean and well maintained. The locker room decor is better than average with glass doors on the showers and shelves and hooks in and around the showers. The recovery zone is very relaxing. Updated 3/1/26. Ok, I've come back to give the whole truth that I was reluctant to share. I was being greedy and didn't want to share, but you guys deserve to know. Workout Anytime uses the very B E S T chair massagers and Hydromassage tables I've tried anywhere. One negative: I saw a man walk out of the sauna literally dripping with sweat. He walked directly to the massage chair and sat down. When he was done, he did not wipe down the equipment. I use the wipes before AND after using the equipment. You might like to too. I have a lot of gym experience, and this Lanham location is a solid choice. I currently belong to several gyms and frankly, Anytime Workout is my preferred gym, over Planet Fitness, the YMCA, and LA Fitness. From what I've seen, Gold's is a joke. The first membership I would drop is LA Fitness. All the employees at this Lanham location are very kind and the clientele is very supportive of other members. They are providing a great community and I'm sure you'll fit right in. I hope this helps with your decision-making process. No matter which gym you join, make sure you FULLY understand their billing and cancellation policies.

Here's a recap of why I do not recommend personal training at Crunch Fitness College Park: - I have email screenshots that the fitness director offered me comp PT sessions due to a promo - I was stood up for my first two appointments. The director said she'd add another comp session as an apology. - I later requested a new trainer due to schedule conflicts. I just wanted to hurry and finish my package. - It took 6 weeks to assign me a new trainer and I had to repeatedly ask about it - The new fitness director said there was no record of comped sessions so I owed them for using more sessions than my package. I just want others to be aware that their mouth is writing checks their hands won't cash.

I have been advised to email management twice about my concerns and never get a response. First time was a class that was canceled and the gym gave no notice. Second being the gym had no air conditioning for WEEKS during 80-90+ degree weather, including the spin room. No notice was sent to members, no updates, and of course the same monthly fee was taken out my account monthly. The only reason I have not canceled my membership is because of the group workout classes, but soon that may not be enough. Perhaps I need to reconsider Golds Gym. Perhaps this public review will show some regard from management.
