I spent hours watching sunrise, bathing with views, and just in awe out of the window. The room was also spacious and clean Top tier service. Hair wash and body soap products affixed to wall. In room safe, ironing board, coffee maker, cups and utensils. Comfy bedding. Valet was very quick and nice. Will not forget our special anniversary here. Tip: walkable (uphill) to Robson street and great area for people watching but gets very quiet at 8-9pm.

I also booked a Pacific Club room, which includes lounge access and appears to be part of the hotel's more recently renovated accommodations. Unfortunately, while the location and cruise convenience were excellent, the overall experience fell short of what I expect from an FHR property. When I checked in (later than planned due to a flight delay), another guest nearby was expressing frustration about her standard room, which she said cost around $800 per night. She felt the room was outdated and that she hadn't been informed about the upgraded room options. After seeing the hotel for myself, I understood her disappointment. Even the Pacific Club rooms, which are supposedly the renovated rooms, felt dated compared to many modern Marriott, JW Marriott, and luxury hotel properties I've stayed in recently. The biggest advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the cruise terminal. The luggage transfer service was seamless. We simply tipped the porter, and our luggage arrived safely outside our stateroom on the ship. That level of convenience was fantastic and definitely reduced stress on embarkation day. However, I'm not convinced that convenience alone justified the room rate. One of my biggest disappointments involved the Fine Hotels + Resorts breakfast benefit. Typically, FHR properties offer breakfast in a restaurant as a separate benefit. Here, breakfast was served in the club lounge--the same lounge access that I had already paid extra to receive through my room category. That didn't feel like an additional benefit at all. The breakfast itself was adequate but fairly basic, and at times some items were not particularly warm. I plan to contact American Express because this implementation of the breakfast benefit felt misleading. I ordered room service several times during my stay. The food was hit-or-miss: * The burger was good, although the sautéed onions were much sweeter than I prefer. * The fries were decent. * The shrimp dumplings/pot stickers were excellent and one of the best things I ordered. * The seafood chowder was extremely disappointing. It was essentially flavorless--more like hot water with seafood added. Even after adding salt and pepper, it lacked any depth, seasoning, or richness. Considering the price, it was one of the most disappointing chowders I've ever had. The hotel has additional dining options, including a French restaurant and buffet offerings on select nights, but neither was particularly appealing for a trip with my 12-year-old son. The Pacific Club lounge itself was one of the highlights of the stay. The views were beautiful, and the staff there were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It could get quite crowded during breakfast hours, likely because so many guests were being directed there. As for the room, even the renovated version felt overdue for another refresh. The furniture was nice enough, but the layout was poorly designed. The large built-in desk and cabinetry consumed too much space, making the room feel cramped. There was barely enough room to open our luggage, and we often had to place suitcases in front of the bed just to access them. The shower was, unfortunately, the worst part of the room. Water pressure was extremely weak, and the showerhead appeared to be the wrong style for the setup. It resembled a rainfall showerhead but was mounted on a wall instead of overhead, which meant the water simply dribbled downward rather than providing meaningful coverage. Combined with the awkward tub spout placement, it was difficult to rinse properly. While the bath amenities smelled wonderful, the shower experience itself was frustrating. The bathroom layout also felt inefficient, with a large amount of unused space around the toilet while other areas felt cramped. Throughout the property, the atmosphere felt more like a large convention hotel than a luxury hotel. The check-in area was surprisingly small, staff were not always easy to locate, and even reaching someone by phone could be challenging. Overall, I found this hotel convenient but disappointing. If your primary goal is an easy embarkation for an Alaska cruise, it certainly delivers. However, if you're choosing it because it's part of the Fine Hotels + Resorts program and expecting a true luxury hotel experience, you may find it falls short. For a future Vancouver cruise, I would likely consider staying elsewhere--possibly at the Fairmont--and simply rolling my luggage to the ship myself.

CDS Baggage - Devanture

I inquired with the ground staff and they pointed me to the CDS booth that's at the YVR airport. I was ready to make a big fuss but ended up leaving with a big smile because the staff there were so sweet and validated my frustrations. They assured me that as long as Air France gets the bags to them, they will make sure to deliver it to me the same day. They also gave me water and calmed me down, it was very sweet. Best part, next day at 3:00pm my bags were delivered at my doorstep just like they promised! If your bags are ever delayed and you have to go through CDS, I would recommend stopping by their office at the airport and personally talking to them! They are super helpful!

Keep deleting the truth and I'll keep posting it back…read more So I would like to talk about the working environment at this place. Worker by the name - Kiana "So I was working here for a short time and what I experienced here was extremely surprising what goes on in the background in this work environment. Kiana would answer the calls and out of frustration of the phone calls she would put phone on mute and vent out " I want to kill this guy". I was actually super shocked when I heard this, but I was new so I had no right in saying anything because I needed the job. There's workers that would come into the office room and out loud they would be saying "N***A"( the an word ) even that I was extremely shocked in hearing and keep in mind Kiana is a manager and no action was made from that comment by the worker... keep in mind the N word comment was said multiple times. If she lies about this then hook her up to a lie detector test and have her prove her innocence. I'm sorry, but this hurt me enough for me to come on here and let everyone know. This company works in frustration. So even after all this they let me go because I spoke about what happened during the Olympics in Paris. So they literally fired me because I spoke about what I saw on tv with an air Canada worker and what's hilarious is the Air Canada worker was agreeing with me. Literally all we talked about was how they had drag queens dancing on the table and mocking the religion ( the last supper ) I didn't not attack them in any way when speaking solely only spoke what I witnessed on tv and how I thought it was wrong to mock religion. All that was said. So it's wild to me that I got let for that reason, but they allow racial comments in the work environment and even to a point to vent saying you "want to kill this guy"... I was let go because zero tolerance. Why is there no zero tolerance for the others? I'm confused. Especially when my situation was a 2/10 the most while there's racial profanity being said at work. Makes total sense... I will be slowly reporting to HR about this. Thanks to the people who comforted me CDS. Which is no one. Mr. Christopher was totally aware of the situations as well and he himself took. No action

The bathrooms have a lot of toilet tissue on the floors and they have signs that ask them to be notified if it's not clean but I didn't have time to wait. I didn't take a shower because there wasn't a lot of space to put my stuff down in a clean area. The bathrooms are shared, but they do have a really great mirror to put on make up. Extremely cramped living quarters with very little space to put luggage down. They require you to buy a lock for $8.95 if you want to stow valuables and it's a big bulky lock, that's heavy and you probably don't want to buy (wish they would rent the locks because I have no other use for this bulky thing). The worst part is the stairs... It would be a great work out, except that it's super annoying when you have heavy luggage to carry upstairs multiple flights of floors. There is no elevator, there is no AC, you better arrive tired because it's pretty loud at night. This hostel is 3 stars imo but I gave them an extra star because their staff is super friendly, it's a good location, their breakfast is convenient (fresh bagels with fruits and vegetables), and Vancouver needs more budget-friendly options.

I'm a very calm, sweet and good looking young woman and I'm not going to be humble about it. There was no reason for that bald male receptionist to be that rude to me given all the sketchy ppl that usually go to Ocean Beach. If you're a nice female customer, I would look for a safer location, and would never put your safety at risk on that place. The customer that was there was looking at me like he wanted to apologize for the receptionist's rudeness. It was really bad. I understand that ppl are not allowed inside to see the place for safety issues, but there are way kinder ways of saying it to a potential future customer. I can't stand when people in low paid jobs act like they have power (small power) and decide to be rude to kind people like me, and they do that with a big and ugly gummy smile on their faces. It's so petty!

I am a lifetime member of Hostelling International and have stayed at many hostels across the U.S…read more and Canada. This was my first visit to Vancouver, so it only seemed natural to check out one of the HI locations. I only stayed a couple of nights, but had a pretty good experience overall. Here are some comments: 1. The best thing about my room was the great bed and comforter. Hands down, this may have been the best hostel comforter I've ever experienced, and everyone else who has stayed there knows exactly what I am talking about. 2. The four-bed room is ideal for travelers and I liked the in-room sink and lockers. It is super convenient with the bathrooms and showers down the hall. 3. The WiFi is HORRIBLE. The only place where the signal is strong is the reception area on the first floor. Otherwise, you are basically playing Russian roulette with the signal strength, and areas where it should be strong like the tables near the kitchen are actually weak. 4. I also understand that elevators are not always necessary, but the stairways from the 2nd floor up are small and really difficult if you have a suitcase or god forbid, more than one. 5. I was always gone early in the mornings so never took advantage of the free breakfast, but the kitchen area was well stocked and clean, and the large fridge made it easy to store your own food. 6. Lastly, this hostel is conveniently located near tons of good restaurants, clubs, and bars, but when it is full of drunk people, it's not so much fun if you are not the partying type ... or over 30.

Without a doubt this was one of the worst hostel experiences that I have ever had, if not the worst…read more(and I've stayed at a lot!). Positives: - elevator - price - staff was able to fix a situation -they along with their sister properties do run some cool activities which are either free or low cost (their saving grace IMO) Like many lodgings in central Vancouver, there are a ton of homeless people in front. Not taking away stars due to that since it's very common. Despite this I never felt unsafe outside since it's in a lively neighborhood anyway so you are never truly alone. Complaints? I was told ahead of time by their staff that their bedrooms have AC. Most of their bedrooms do not have AC, rather they will give you a tiny desk fan (so you are f***ed if you are the top bunk!). I was beyond pissed because I deliberately chose this hostel due to it stating that they have AC which is a must for me since I didn't have a humidifier with me, as well as it separating rooms by genders (a must for me since I want to change in my room and well, men are slobs and fart). I went down and said to please refund me if they cannot place me in a room with air circulation and that I would be finding new lodging. They did find me space, however I had to ask for a partial refund (instead of just getting it...) since I went from a 2 person dorm to a 4 person one. Their keys regularly stop working so for 1 night stay I think I had to change my key 3 times (if not more). I thought I was the problem until I saw that others had this issue on here and Tripadvisor as well. My experience gets better LOL.....At around 2AM the girl I met prior who shared the dorm with me screamed after seeing a plump, naked elderly, Frenchman in what I think was supposed to be her bed. This was a female only dorm. Naturally there was no one at the front desk, and no one answered the phone. My roommate (not sure how to word that) looked everywhere for any employee and found 1 somewhere. He had to escort the man to another room. I kind of felt bad for the French guy because he told me that he was there before me or the girl checked in which honestly might have been true. Afterward, my roommate and I laughed this off and I thanked her because I was fast asleep apparently when the guy came in (it was my first day in Vancouver and was a long day so I was out). I had the free breakfast in the morning which I thought would be similar to the free breakfasts in Europe. From what I can recall it was just toast, bagels with very little cream cheese left that people scrapped off from the dish (there was an attendant there too), juice, coffee, and I think apples. I'm not much of a breakfast person but thought it would be a bit more than that (they have a better selection in prisons). The kitchen wasn't the cleanest and there really isn't any cooking facilities aside from a refrigerator. I believe there was a microwave though. The hostel itself is very bare bones. Looks like a homeless shelter and there are few outlets to plug in things in your bedroom (I think mine had 2). The bathrooms were single bathrooms with a toilet and a shower and while I wouldn't say they were dirty, they weren't that clean. They also were gender neutral, so girls get used to seeing toilet seats not put down, and pubes on/around the toilet. Staff although nice, seemed to not know what they were doing...How do you mess up the genders in a dorm room meant for 4 people?!? Check in seemed to take awhile as well despite there often being at least 2 people at the front desk. After 1 night I stayed at the Hyatt LOL. Cannot recommend. You have been warned.
