Long-View is STEM focused and includes an incredible literacy program. The students enjoy a reduced schedule (9:00am-2:30pm/M-TH) and an hour long lunch break at a nearby park. The school is absolutely incredible, and my wife and I feel so grateful we found it for our 2 year old son. He has been attending twice a week for about ten months, and we are astonished by how much he has learned in this short time. Each day he surprises us with new usage of the Spanish language...from numbers, to the alphabet, to colors, to days of the week, to fun songs which he adores singing. He gets so excited on the days he attends, which really warms our hearts, and on the days he doesn't go, he talks about his teachers and friends there. He came in passionate about math, art, and sports and in the time he's been at Kirby, he's grown to love history, Spanish, and drama. He's developed deeper skills as a writer and his passion for reading and discussing diverse books has expanded tremendously. His classmates are academically curious and creative: they have the opportunity to write, perform, and build for the stage each semester. Their grade-level performance yesterday was incredibly funny and sweet, definitely exceeded my expectations! Overall, Kirby Hall is academically rigorous and welcoming, the teachers and staff are kind, accessible, and open, and the athletics are inclusive, positive, competitive, and well-run by the excellent PE teacher. The teachers and staff know each child so well and work hard to bring out the best in each-- and they chat easily with parents in the hall after school. The education has inquiry-based components, and they take multiple field trips each semester. The academic offerings for upper grades are constantly evolving as they are building a thoughtful and unique middle school. Most faculty have advanced degrees. I can't imagine a better education. I'd recommend Kirby Hall to anyone looking for a well-rounded, rigorous, inspiring education for their child.

This is a direct quote from my son will doing his reading homework recently. This is the type of school experience we as parents were hopeful for, that our son would love school and enjoy his "job" as a child of learning, growing and socializing. I have never seen a school environment where the kids literally run inside in excitement to begin the day at 8:10 I may add, and have such agency and confidence walking inside. It's gratifying to see how staff support and teach kids in ways that I was petrified of or suffered through myself in school. They're on stage in front of the whole school, they make presentations to their class, they have advisory to ask for help, they are learning to read music; I didn't learn a lot of this until after college! Everyone enjoys being there and supporting one another. It's a relaxing and engaging place to be. It's only our first year and we can't believe the difference.

My daughter is a sixth grader, so she could either go with the elementary group or the middle school group. We chose the elementary group and it has been fantastic to have her learn a sense of responsibility that she can carry on into the middle School group next year. As a former educator, I admire that the studio uses every education methodology that are best practices. Our daughter has benefited from so much self-directed learning as well as project-based learning. And the cohesion among students from all grade levels is so wonderful. I feel she has really benefited from the school culture. Studio Prep is such a blessing for our family!

Summer camp is another wonderful immersion for the children and there is a different theme each year for a Spanish-Speaking country. So, the kids also learn Geography. They both had a lot of anxiety about going; they were worried it would be boring and school-like. I had the same fear, but I was OK with that if it helped them learn Spanish. Happily, the camp turned out to be totally fun and the boys loved it. AND, every day when I picked them up they were chatting happily with me using their new Spanish words and singing their new songs. I was blown away by how much Spanish was packed into those 2 weeks. The boys learned SO much, and they were not stressed about it at all. They enjoyed all the activities and didn't realize how much they were absorbing. I wish this camp went all summer! It was totally worth it and I can't wait for our next session with Mariposas!

After having the opportunity to keep my son home for his first…read moreyear, we had to make the tough decision to pivot to daycare and this location came as a recommendation from friends whom have their sons enrolled. And I can confidently say that I only wish I would've done so sooner. My son LOVES it! He thrives getting to interact with the other kids and completes 2-3 activities a day with his teacher Ms. Rochelle which has been so good for him. Not to mention every morning she takes the time to make my son feel comfortable before dropoff so he can transition to the day in a positive way. He has developed a ton of new skills, including counting, sign language, and proper manners and I am so impressed at their ability to teach him. The teachers have been super informative and receptive and are so tentative to my son and his needs. They also get lots of outdoor time which is great for getting energy out and not being pent up inside. Principal Mrs. Devin runs a tight ship and is always involved in the students care and safety but also warm to staff. We love Ms. Trinity and Ms. Lydia who are great helpers to Mrs Devin as well. There's been multiple times where I have been emotional expressing my gratitude to the staff and explaining to others how fortunate we are to have him in such a great spot.
