Tiki man in the dining area

What a fun place in downtown Huntsville! The decor is tiki fab, and the drinks and food are all delicious, served with a smile by a great staff. My goodness, our drinks were soooo delicious! I had their amazing take on a mule, while my husband enjoyed Saturns Rings. For dinner I had the Poke bowl, and my husband had a ginormous burger and an order of wings. The portions are very generous, which was really sort of a shame because we really would have liked a second round of drinks, but literally had no room in our bellies. If you haven't been, seriously what are you waiting for???

GNO tonight! This is what we ordered at Happy hour 4-6 pm. Crab Rangoon dip $8 Bulgogi fries Bulgogi lettuce wraps Spicy chicken katsu sandwich Crab Rangoon dip came with fried wonton chips and is a delicious shareable on their happy hour menu! Bulgogi fries huge serving - a little kick of spice - and also delicious Bulgogi lettuce wraps - have me a sushi roll vibe with the sticky rice , and spice from the Sriracha Katsu sandwich is fantastic one of my favorites! I was looking for mock tails to try in HSV, and Phat Sammy's did not disappoint. I have found with mock tails they are too sweet for my liking but Bun In The Oven was creamy, refreshing goodness. I posted pictures of their updated menu, happy hour menu, and drinks. Cheers

If you want Asian flavor food, don't go here. PRO The ambience was cute and nice. Staff members were all nice and acknowledged us and our server was attentive and informative. The star rating comes from here! CON The food...we got the Korean Fried Wings (lemongrass lemon pepper), Bulgogi Lettuce Wrap, and Chicken Katsu Sandwich. My friend and I didn't want to waste food so we did our best to finish everything. Korean Fried Wings - the texture was good, but it was not "Korean Fried" Wings. If you're going to use those word choices we would expect double fried wings. The rub that was used on the wings were salty and we only tasted the lemon pepper, no lemongrass. The sauce that came with it, we were told was miso ranch but it tasted like dill aioli because of the strong presence of the dill. Bulgogi lettuce wrap - The meat was too dry, salty, and sweet. The crime of all crime...THE RICE WAS UNDERCOOKED. My friend was brave and ate two but I could only eat one. Chicken katsu sandwich - the katsu was doused in tonkatsu sauce. It was too sweet. I could not finish the bread because it soaked in too much of the sauce. The best part of our dinner was my friend's glass of Chardonnay and the side of fries that came with my sandwich. The fries had a nice seasoning and not overly salted.

Some of the best ramen I ever had! The flavors were doing a happy dance in my mouth. I went here for a late lunch while visiting town for a conference and at first I was skeptical because it's truly giving bar vibes but my meal was far better than expected. I had leftovers and they tasted great the next day which is a little risky. Our server was super knowledgeable about the menu and helped me make the best decision. Even the chef/cook came out later to see if we liked everything. One of my coworkers was not completely satisfied with her meal so I felt bad.

My homegirl and I were drawn in by the giant purple tentacle that marked the entrance to what might otherwise be an unassuming basement locale. We were hungry after traveling into town from Tennessee, it was happy hour, and our uncertainty dissipated at the bottom of the stairs. I have few complaints about the spicy pork bulgogi or the poke bowl, besides a subtle impression that they could be served with a slightly larger portion of pork and ahi tuna, respectively. My dream is to eat my way through this menu but I do not live here. Skip the crab rangoons, but perhaps consider the crab rangoon dip, and get a fun drink if you fancy it because this is a tiki bar in Alabama. Life is amazing

I don't know what I was expecting when we came here, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! They play on the niche tiki bar theme. The chairs, menus, decor and food/drink options. Our friends shared one of the 2-4 people punch bowls and they couldn't finish it. Staff was very friendly and fast. Drinks were affordable. Food options, but we just had dinner.

Another classic case of "I REALLY wish half stars were an option!" 3.5 for me based on my first visit. My girlfriends came from out of town for Christmas and we decided to come here for a gathering. I was easily able to make reservations on RESY for a table for the three of us + 2 husbands + a bonus friend who joined last-minute (so, 6 total). Our reservation was ready on time, although our tables were two round-tops pushed together, which made talking to people at the opposite table (especially in the loud environment) kind of hard. I don't hold this against them too much because we expected a noisy environment; just something to keep in mind for larger parties. They weren't super-duper busy but service was a little slow and disjointed. However, I got the impression our waitress was still a little new or overwhelmed -- maybe not enough other waitresses to cover all the tables or something. She kept up a pleasant and helpful demeanor and all our food and drinks were right when we got it, so that's a plus. I'm not a huge drinker so perhaps some aspects of the experience were lost on me. I didn't want to miss out on the tiki fun, so I tried an Ango Colada. It wasn't really for me, but I didn't think the bitters would come through so...well...bitter -- I was hoping for stronger pineapple and lime flavors but I mostly just got alcohol, lol. More than willing to accept this as a "me" problem. The rum and coke I continued the night with was perfectly fine. Others in my party who got tiki drinks seemed to come to the consensus that it was good but not great. All the drinks have fun names, so that adds some entertainment value. The "Three Dots and a Dash" was probably the best/most popular drink at our table. We did all feel like the drinks went pretty heavy on the ice to drink ratio. The food was resoundingly fine! In some ways though it was my biggest disappointment because I've been excited and intrigued by the PS menu in all its iterations since they opened. I ordered the K-Mac burger with fries, husband got the pork katsu sando, and others at the table got a variety of other things, to include the beef bulgogi rice bowl, the poke nachos, wings, Thai coconut curry, and a small order of fried rice. Personally, I sampled the nachos, the pork katsu sandwich, and of course my meal. The nachos were pretty good -- very crispy -- though I only had a bite with sauce and veggies, none of the fish. My husband's pork katsu sandwich was probably my favorite thing I tried. Bright flavors, crispy breaded pork, nicely toasted bread. We both enjoyed the thick-cut fries, though they could've stood to be slightly crisper. My burger was kind of...odd? The beef tasted good, the egg was cooked nicely, the flavor of the kimchi on top was fine...but I don't feel like it really came together. My biggest problem was that it was so absolutely enormous it was impossible for me to eat it with my hands. While I appreciate the size from a value standpoint, I really prefer not to cut my burger into bite-size pieces, haha. Additionally, having to do that meant it was hard for me to ever get a bite with all the ingredients on it, which kind of prevented me from getting the total picture. I also thought the kimchi unfortunately made the top bun pretty soggy pretty fast. If I ordered this again, I'd ask for no kimchi, mostly because of that. I can see myself giving this place another go in the future. I like the creative food and drink options and the sort of underground tiki bar vibe is definitely a fun one. They also have lots of changing themed drinks, fairly solid happy hour deals, and fun events like Christmas movie nights, drag bingo, etc. Give them a try and see what you think!

Phat Sammy's is such a cool venue located in a nonchalant basement in the middle of downtown. It has a great aesthetic with various Hawaiian themed decorations as well as a tiki bar and even an old game console section. I ordered a cocktail and was a bit surprised and disappointed by how lackluster the drink was. Served in quite an obscure glass which I wasn't expecting. I don't know why, but I wanted to try the K-Mac burger and so I went with that first instinct and ordered it. It had kimchi, bacon, a runny egg, and various other toppings on an angus burger. I thought it was a decent burger but nothing special, and the kimchi didn't have much flavor. I have to say I felt quite a bit of FOMO from the other dishes the people around me got, so it led me to have some disappointment as well. Overall, I would be open to coming back but I would definitely order different food and a different drink. I am a big picture person when deciding, and unfortunately my order didn't have pics in advance of either the drink or food so I suffered the casualty of ordering at a mystery.

This was a really interesting spot in downtown Huntsville. The drinks were good and the food was also scrumptious. When sitting at the bar, we had a great time. The service was awesome (although, we were one of a handful of diners in the restaurant at the time). We moved to a table and went to continue on with our good time. As the crowd started to come in, it seemed like service was a little less attentive. It was slightly frustrating, but we also were not in a rush so it wasn't the end of the world. The nice surprise was we just so happened that it was a night they feature drag trivia. What a fun surprise (and of course I would accidentally find myself at a place that does drag trivia since I am a huge fan of the drag scene)! The decor is fun, and very tiki-esque. Looks like a good group of people come here on a regular basis. If this was in downtown Huntsville, I am excited to see what else the area has on my next visit!

This place is really solid when it comes to their food and drinks. The menu that was presented said limited menu and indeed it was pretty small. If you are vegetarian or vegan you won't have a lot of options. I had the crab Rangoon and brussel sprouts for appetizers. They were both delicious! The Rangoons were different than what I'm used to but in a positive way. The pastry part was light and crispy without being too oily. I would eat those over and over. The brussel sprouts were made without the meat by request. They were balanced and delicious. Crispy and packed with flavor. Fair warning- you will be burping that flavor for the rest of your night. We also had the regular and cucumber kimchi sides. The kimchi was a little fizzy indicating That it had some age on it. The cucumber kimchi was actually the pickle version so the cucumber was not what I was expecting. My entree of coconut curry was sweet with a hint of spicy. It was pretty good and exactly as advertised in the menu. I like the smooth texture. The side of rice that came with it was tiny so kind of disappointing there. The bathroom was disgusting. Sticky floor and some nasty "particles " around the toilet. The trash was overflowing as well. It is a mixed gender bathroom but I'm willing to bet a guy made that mess hahahahaha. The service was alright and it was a little expensive. I would certainly come back.

What a diamond in the rough.... Gave this place a shot because I thought the menu looked fun. Let me tell you the drinks (especially on happy hour) were even more fun!!!! We had two servers both were wonderful. Chris was shadowing and he provided great advice on what else was worth seeing in the area. The service and food were Fast!!! It was Tuesday and we noticed a sign for Drag trivia so Of course we had to stay! This place had it all, friendly staff, good food, a plethora of good drinks, and even entertainment. I will be adding this to My usually haunts when I'm in town

There's a typical bar area with TVs showing sports, but surrounding the bar are plush, lounge chairs and couches that feel more intimate and inviting for groups. Selection of libations is a great start, but without passionate and knowledgeable 'tenders the experience feels... incomplete. V&O doesn't disappoint here either as everyone is well-versed and opinionated in what they are serving. It's the perfect place to let a few hours bleed away and forget what is going on in the world; maybe have an intelligent sparring session about tastes in the 'brown drink' or adult grape juice... You can spend an entire night here or end up here at the end of the night for a night cap... I don't think you can wrong either way. It's becoming one of my favorite places for wine and whiskey/bourbon... but tread carefully; there are so many things to try you may find it hard to walk out to a ride home. There are televisions playing softly in the room with the bar but there's also a more intimate room; I think it'd be a nice place to gather with friends. I was told there'd be wine tasting nights starting soon! The bartender, Teylor, was exceptional! She put me right at ease, spoke knowledgeably about each cocktail and wine option, and had a good sense of humor. She worked efficiently among the patrons and was very attentive and polite. Shout-out to Teylor! The vibe was really great too - the other guests were friendly and sociable without being overbearing and I enjoyed my visit while having a drink. I ordered the Monte Sano Sunset, which is a rum drink with fruity elements to include orange and pineapple juice as well as a squeeze of lime. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't upset my stomach as similar drinks often do. It was a pleasure to watch Teylor make my beautiful drink as well as what others ordered; there was even fire involved with one particular beverage! I enjoyed my drink and heard rave things from the other guests about each and every drink that was served. Although this bar is rather far away for me, I look forward to bringing friends from out of town to this special new place.
