I whole hearted agree with the reviews that note the expense of this program. In hopes of losing 50 # I wrote a check for $7,000. BUT..... I've lost 50 pounds twice with Weight Watchers, and felt like this program addressed maintenance concerns that weren't covered by other programs. I have dropped about 10 pounds a month. In 4 months I only gained during 1 week. My coach told me to add back the a:m snack, because with my added exercise I needed more calories. I dropped 3 # the following weeks. I think Dr. Ashley is a genius. My spouse thought I could lose the weight on my own. Thankfully PhD recommends you bring your significant other with you to the 1st appointment. We both loved what we heard, especially the no drug policy. So he said if I would Fully Commit, he would support my decision. His understanding the program has been very useful to me. I haven't reached Maintenance yet, 10 # to go. The proof will be in the keeping it off. I already know that I have some Trigger foods for me, that I just won't be able to have. The program involves eating 5 meals a day. Four of the meals involve prepackaged meals with the 5th meal being dinner that you make yourself using the program's guidelines. You are also assigned a coach with whom you meet weekly in person or over the phone. You will lose weight fast on this program, mainly due to calorie restriction. They also allow you to consume healthy fats which helps with hunger control. But there are a number of drawbacks: 1. The program in VERY expensive, around $1000 to $1200 a month. 2. The packaged food is heavily processed and contains some questionable ingredients (see the photo which is from a different weight loss company. PHD uses the same exact packaged food). 3. For the meals you make yourself, they are very adamant about making sure you choose "approved" natural whole foods that do not contain questionable ingredients such as artificial sweeteners, seed oils etc. YET most of the packaged food they give you contains these very same types of ingredients! It's hypocritical to be honest. 4. The coaches are nice and encouraging, but at the end of the day they really don't provide value equivalent to the cost you're paying for the program. My advice - if you have tried other ways to lose weight to no avail, and if you can afford the cost, and it you don't mind eating packaged food, give it a shot. You'll lose the weight if you follow the program. But will your metabolic health improve? That's another question. read more

Wish I had researched more before I paid these guys!! 3 months on PHD and I've lost 10 whole pounds! PHD only expects 0.5-1.8 pounds per week weight loss. Even if you lost 10 pounds a month that would mean you pay $100/pound! The counselors are really sweet and try to be helpful but can't make up for the flawed program. the "individualized" plan was a stock plan that everyone gets. The PHD food products are included in the exorbitant price. the food list got smaller every month however. Lots of artificial sweeteners and ingredients . Now I've gone on a diet including fruits and nuts ( no-nos on PHD) and lost 3 pounds in the last week. If you can grow it, pick it or catch it you can eat it. My husband is very upset that they took our money and have not made a serious effort to get me started on the program. They also want you to buy supplements and pay for psychological sessions? The website and paperwork doesn't say a thing about refunds, so we are at a loss. When I asked them about a refund, they said in the "packet" I received, it says what I invested in and that is is non-refundable. Pfffffft. The PHD weight loss program was touted to me as vegan-friendly and their salesperson said they had "tons" of vegan options and their staff was very knowledgeable about a vegan lifestyle. Their literature states they will create a customized meal plan for you. and that it "provides 85% of your food at no additional cost". The customized meal plan that I received was not adherent to a vegan lifestyle. For example, it stated that I should try to eat a rotisserie chicken. There are only 2 food items in their more than *********** that are vegan. This will not supply 85% of my food needs, as advertised. Their literature states that I would receive weekly, personalized coaching; It is week two and I have not yet met my coach. The coach that filled in last week indicated that she was very knowledgeable about vegan lifestyles and indicated she would send me vegan-friendly food. I want to note that this same counselor told me that a number of items on the food list were vegan, including the wild ***** punch, and the cream of tomato soup so she sent these to my house. Neither of these are vegan. Both of these products contain both whey and gelatin. I clarified with her prior to her sending the products that they were vegan stating, "Are you sure they are vegan and not vegetarian?" She responded, "Yes they are vegan." I had to throw all of this stuff out. It is strongly suggested that I enter my meals in a food log. The food log does not list very many vegan food items, so I cannot really use this resource. I feel like for a ton of money, I received a piece of paper with a diet on it and that is it. The product delivered is not as promised. Their response to my complaints was ineffectual - for example, they rewrote my diet plan but continued to include many non-vegan items in it. The diet they gave me is mostly "fake meats" which I don't regularly eat - this is not sustainable for me. I would NOT recommend this program to vegans. read more

She is an incredibly strong person but several weeks in she is overwhelmed, does not feel supported and simply feels defeated. The representatives she spoke with when requesting to cancel her plan were rude and unprofessional. The diet plans are complicated and unsustainable, setting people up for failure. As someone who genuinely wants to see people win when it comes to their health goals, do yourself a favor and look for a credentialed dietitian that will cater to your lifestyle, food preferences and emotional support needs. Bait and switch! I initially was told of the two programs offered signature and Ops with the only difference being that one they provided 80% of the food and being more one on one and the other (Ops) having more of a group session. Was NOT told that only their Signature plan was the customized meal plan and wokeout plan. The cost is ridiculous for their signature plan it's $7,020 for 56wks and their Ops is $2096. They said that there was this Care Credit option that would be $175/mon or like $44/wk but made it sound like Klarna, did NOT inform me it was an actual credit card applying for! When I confronted them about only having pdfs sent to me and how they suddenly wanted me to do all these forms (also was NOT informed of at initial conversation), about the credit card impact and feeling not worth the $2096 they skirted around the issue. When I sent an email asking about possible refund or being removed from the program, they said that because of the contract I signed there would be no refund and I had to basically stay in until July, where then I could choose to continue for an additional $399/month! Now when I've asked to be removed from the program and no further payments taken from my account I get shuffled around to my "consultant," who said she heard about the email I sent wanting to discuss my account. Oh and ONLY their signature plan is custom meal plan and workout, which they did NOT inform me until after they pressured me into signing up. read more

I work out six days a week and the carb load was not high enough to sustain 45 minutes of rowing, The only foods that were unlimited were lettuce and spinach. You could only have a limited amount of tomatoes!! The counselors were nice but could only help you in the confines of the diet. I was always hungry and had no energy. The counselor told me that it might take as long as a month to start feeling more energetic-meanwhile my daily workouts were really suffering due to low energy. After a month I quit the diet-real people don't eat like this. The counselor was none too friendly when I said I wanted to stop. She said that 95% of people who do not reach their goal gain all that they have lost back. I went back to weight watchers and have lost 30 more poonds and feel great. They bring you in to talk to the sales lady who tries to hype up that you get a catered meal plan and a nutritionist to talk to and once you finish the plan you get lifetime support. It is a lie. You pay THOUSANDS of dollars to have a person who isn't even a trained nutritionist check in with you each week and give you a fake smile and pretend they truly care about your progress. They ask you prepaid out questions based upon your prepaid one size fits all meal plan that consists of their prepackaged food packets that do not take great and notvteal foods. They give you bars and powder packets but you can't eat a piece of fruit. They don't give you suggestions or offer real food alternatives though they say upu get cup access to their website that offer recipes but they gave maybe 20 recipes and they tell you you can't use their packets to make things but offer no suggestions for recipes using them on their site. Furthermore- they never check in with you. If you miss an appointment or go without coming in. Upur support system they advertised is non existent. They have you sign a wave in the beginning listing your PCP and state that they send results etc to them but it's a lie. They never check with your physicians. They don't know real solutions to any issues that come up. I grew so constipated after folding their plan to a T that I went a week and a half without a bowel movement and their solution was to keep having me take a laxative regularly. Tgey have handouts that they give you but the people helping aren't fully trained to give sound advice. several times I spoke to them about workout plans or asked for suggestions and all they could tell me was that they are told to have all their customers walk every day.
