My first time playing this course and thought the staff in the clubhouse and on the course were all incredibly friendly! The course itself is very hilly (welcome to Pittsburgh!) but well maintained with some crazy two-tier greens. Pace of play was a little bit slow, but the weather was so nice it didn't even matter. Pheasant Ridge review Sloping hills with lots of trees to make for narrow fairways. Clusters of holes next to each other then long cart rides to a distant tee box. The elevation changes makes for a tough track. Many of the fairways on the front 9 present trouble in less than 230 yards making driver stay in the bag for the first 4 holes. The greens are well kept and have a lot of angulation The cart path only and riding along side the fairways makes the round a lot slower. Staff were friendly. Range is iron only. Putting green and no chipping green. Small parking lot and smaller clubhouse but a beautiful patio with a nice view of the 18th hole read more

Made a tee time last weekend for this Saturday. Had it pushed back on Friday for an anticipated frost delay, then they called as I was about to leave for the course to tell me that it was now cancelled as their driveway sealing hadn't dried. The owner Christian is unprofessional and incompetent. Had an outing here and cart girls weren't allowed to take carts because he said "I've seen girls like you flip carts here." They had to stay stationary on one hole. After a rain delay, we were screamed at for skidding down the cart path. More than half of the golf course doesn't even have a cart path. Place is filled with roots, ditches, ruts, and hard pan. Would never come back here because of the owner. read more

I was so excited to play this course today but I shouldn't have been. We had to get onto this course because Treesdale, where we are members at was completely booked because it was a beautiful day. We got there and they were completely out of carts, then the range only had mats and was irons only. We then got onto the tee box and had to wait 30 minutes before we could tee off. The course was in good shape but it took us two hours and 30 minutes to finish our round, that was 9 holes because we didn't want to wait 6 hours to play all 18. And to add on to the bad pace of play there is a gun range less than a mile from the golf course. I will never play this course again and do not recommend read more

Went for the first time on the 4th of July weekend for $39. Greens and most fairways were excellent and in good condition for early July. Clubhouse attendant was very personable and a pleasure to talk to. The only thing that I would have to say that is negative would be about the cart paths. Most holes were unpaved and very uneven. In the future, I would hope that they would consider paving. Also, there was no grass seed/sand mixture for the fairways which left unfilled divots on a few. Overall though, it was a beautiful course and hope to be back whenever I take another trip out to Pittsburgh! read more

Overbooking seems to be their MO. Booked a tee time for 2 people about 45min beforehand, called to confirm they could take us, drove a half hour to get there, and was told on arrival that they couldn't let us play for a couple hours. Absolute garbage the way this place runs. Have been told by a friend that if they run a groupon type special, they treat your Groupon as second class to full price golfers and will make you wait hours to let the full price golfers go first. read more

Second season playing at PHGC and I really like this course. The greens are very nice with challenging undulation, which was the main reason I came back. I have never witness a rude staff and never been looked down at when asking to refill my water bottles. I see the grounds keepers always working and in my opinion it shows on the course. That being said, I would like to see the cart paths repaved. I mostly play weekday mornings twice a week during the summer and the pace of play has never been an issue. However, that is not to say PACE isn't lacking on weekends as I am sure is that case most places. read more

I really liked this course. Yes there were tight fairways and yes there were hills. We are in the Allegheny mountains. The greens were picturesque and well maintained. It was really a beautiful course to play. Even saw a doe and two fawns on the back nine. Very enjoyable. Will be back. read more

This place used to be so nice and very reasonable to play in terms of cost. NOW, it costs way too much money to play and the course is always overbooked. You can spend another $6 and play Cranberry Highlands which is always in much better condition or spend $10 more and play Quicksilver. This used to be a great course for $40, but their competitors in the area are much more reasonable. I suggest Pittsburgh North Golf Course, or head up to Strawberry Ridge for a good $40 course. Where to start: Course was in GREAT shape. Greens rolled nicely. Fairways were pretty solid for a public course. Priced at $36 for 18 holes and a cart, it was a pretty good value. It is a pretty short course, but if you dont hit the fair way you will not score well. The front 9 was kinda a drag, but I really enjoyed the back 9. Lots of holes where you have to keep the driver in the bag because if you go left or right youre in the woods, or off a cliff. Lost a few more balls than I would have liked. The absolute worst pace of play in western Pennsylvania. Be prepared for a 6 hour round, waiting on every tee box, every shot. No joke we pulled up to the #4 par 3 and there was 5 groups waiting to play. The owner is a completely disrespectful, hot headed, no class person. After taking 2 hours 50 minutes for 9 holes he told me "what do you expect, its Saturday.. you need to lower your expectations." Meanwhile I have played 60+ rounds already this year all over the Pittsburgh region and I have NEVER encountered such a poor experience as this. Its been 1 month since Mike kicked me out, threatened to call the police, and banned me from the course for questioning why I did not get a full 9 hole refund. Since then I have played 12 other rounds and not one went over 4 hours for 18 holes. I guess I should thank him for being so rude to me, now I have joined a private club and spent much more money, but never again will a penny of mine go to that course. People will pay good money to have a good, regulated pace of play. Any golfer would rather shoot 100 and play 18 holes in 4 hours, then to shoot under par in over 6 hours. Not only that, if the pace if good, people come back and spend more money.... 60+ rounds this year, another 60+ next year, and the year after that... not one of them will EVER be at this course. This incident has also been reported to the PA Department of Health. We booked a tee time online today. Upon arrival, we were informed that, due to an internal booking error, our tee time had been registered for an hour later. We were advised to wait for carts and that we would be able to go out on Hole #10. No big deal. We waited in the parking lot for people to return carts and, once four carts were returned (there were four of us), we sanitized our own carts (carts were not sanitized upon return), loaded our bags, and headed to the 10th hole. As we were approaching the tee box, the owner came speeding down to the hole and exclaimed that we were not permitted to golf with 4 carts. Given the COVID19 outbreak and that every other course in the area is adhering to the regulations, we assumed that we would need to ride one person per cart. The owner said "I have 25 people ready to tee off and I'm only charging $22. I can't make money if everyone has their own cart. You will need to share carts. Is this a problem?" I promptly told him that there's a pandemic and that we would prefer to ride one per cart to maintain social distancing. The owner stated that "people came all the way to the course after working all day and they can't be put out if they don't have a cart". He followed this up by telling us "I'm only charging $22, they're going to turn the course into townhouses if I let you ride one to a cart". We were forced to leave one cart at the 10th hole and one of the guys in our foursome was forced to walk the course (after he had already paid to ride). I will absolutely never come back to this course and will escalate this to the highest level possible to the PA Department of Health and governor's office to, hopefully, help others avoid being put into unsafe situations at the expense of the owner overbooking and trying to make money. Every course in the area is following protocol and there are plenty of other places to go that will not put you into unsafe situations. read more

Came here on a Groupon. Offered 18 holes for 2 with a hotdog and drink at the turn for $51. Steal! Greeted by Pro to check in. Very welcoming and chatted it up about other things besides our golf day. He was also extremely pleasant on the phone when making tee time reservations. Let us know about the course and where the first tee was along with the next three. At the turn he was eager to ask us about our game and give us the specs of the back 9. Not all courses cater to women so nicely so this was much appreciated. Golfing in the fall you never know what you're going to get. Crappy weather can equal a crappy course even on the nicest. This course was STILL kept beautifully even in late October. There were workers blowing leaves off the greens, keeping the fairways and rough areas cut nicely. This is a large and long course. It's really quite beautiful and being that it is so well kept during the fall, I'm sure it is spectacular in the summer months. They have a nice bar area with a couple craft beers on tap and pretty extend liquor selection. I will definitely be back to golf here again. read more

The new owner is a complete tool. We had 7:14 am tee times arrived 20 minutes early only to find two other groups standing in the parking lot. There was nobody in the clubhouse. You couldn't even use the restroom. After finding some carts with keys we just teed off. At the turn the owner was there, when I confronted him as to why there wasn't anyone there he said he can't find anyone to work. That's his job then right or wrong? He then had the gall to charge $49 a person which is $10 more than what the website says. When questioned about this he said the website was old and not his problem. Hope he doesn't plan on being in business too long. We will never be back. read more

Let me start by saying this. This is my first yelp review, Ive never been inspired to share my thoughts on a webpage like this before. Last night I booked a tee time at Pheasant Ridge golf course. I arrived and checked in with the most genuine, helpful and well natured human being that I think was ever created by a man and woman. The service and just general experience I received today was honestly second to none. While the staff was incredible, let me speak of the course quality... this course is challenging and it will reward smart decisions. The grounds were maintained impeccably and pace of play was never an issue. Was in town for a wedding and thought we'd catch a twilight round near the house we rented. We picked this course due to GolfNow deal and vicinity. I wish we would have gone to Pittsburgh North or one of the other local courses. There was one guy here working. One.. he was checking people in, selling drinks at the bar/pro shop, starter, cart guy, everything. I wouldn't be surprised if he was so grumpy because he was mowing fairways in the morning. Needless to say, it was a terrible operation. We teed off 15 mins late and that's only because we hopped in with two guys that were supposed to tee off 10 mins before us (they were 25 mins late). When I say "starter"- I mean he'd yell something from the porch. There were 5 groups standing at the first tee and a line forming after us. This was Sunday at 3pm. I'd hate to see this place on Saturday morning. Maybe they double their staff and put 2 people out there?? They didn't have enough carts available so people were literally waiting on the 18th to snag a cart from the groups finishing their 6 hour round. The course was in surprisingly ok condition given the circus operation in the clubhouse but a lot of blind shots. We only played 9 because it took 2:45 mins to make the turn. Don't go during peak hours. Don't expect to tee off on time. Don't expect club like service. Give yourself plenty of time because it's not going to be a fast round. NOT EVEN CLOSE to being worth the $50 regular rate. Should have been half of the golfnow ($30). In fact, skip it altogether and go ENJOY a round somewhere else read more

Went on Father's Day. Obviously overbooked. Waited an hour past our tee time. Someone came in 15 minutes after us and stated that they had the same tee time as our foursome. Took 6 hours and 15 minutes to play. Out of hot dogs at the turn. So we tried the pre axe sandwiches. The lettuce was wilted in the bag and slimy. Opened the mayonnaise pack and it came out brown. Owner was unmoved by the disgust of the food. For $49, a complete rip off. Don't go here. Much better values at a dozen places within 5 miles. read more

Course was in very good shape. But waited almost an hour past our tee time to tee off. Overbooked the tee times on Father's day, already the busiest golf day of the year and for $49 a round I would have expected at the turn to have hot dogs at the ready. They had no hot dogs and the subs in the frig looked to have been old (lettuce was brown). I don't expect a gourmet meal, but please have the normal stuff available. Inept and unprofessional management. Management likes to overbook the course causing people to wait undesirable times to tee off. Have also experienced groups teeing off the back as I was coming up the 9th hole causing more long wait times. These guys running the course are used car salesmen. This is a very nice, though quite short eighteen hole layout in Gibsonia. It is usually in very good condition. Unfortunately the management is extremely unprofessional and will not honor agreements that they have already advertised and received payment form. So, buyer beware. They currently are advertising on Living Social and Groupon. The Living Social deal is better because it allows play after 12 noon on the weekends while the Groupon deal allows play only after 2p.m. and they are the same price. Of course they may refuse to honor that part. They are advertising a yearly rate of $349 not including a cart. I bought this last year and enjoyed myself so I bought it again. After payment had been made the owner (?) called me and told me that I would either have to purchase a cart when I play or pay twice as much money for my membership even though the ad clearly states that I am saving 50% or more. This is obviously not true. So buy at your own risk. read more

When we showed up they had 3 groups booked in a 4 minute window and then shockingly it was extremely slow, 3 hours for 9 holes. I went into the clubhouse and asked for a refund of my money for the second 9 because I didn't have the time for a 6 hour round. The owner of course refused to do so and then had the nerve to argue with me and tried to tell me that a 6 hour round was only 10 minutes behind normal pace of play. He even tried to lie to me and said that if I didn't like the pace of play it was clearly a problem with me every elite course is the same pace and I'm an idiot. First of Pheasant ridge isn't even close to an elite course, and second at a great course like quicksilver or cranberry highlands they have a ranger to make sure people stay on pace!!! Take your money to Pittsburgh national or Pittsburgh north, to many other courses close by no one should even consider playing at pheasant ridge. The course is mediocre at best and they always overbook pace of play is slow every time, lastly the owner is a complete asshat he is rude and doesn't care at all about his customers. Gave it two tries and it was the same crap both times I will never give them another dollar of my money!! Do yourself a favor and go play another course, save yourself the headache of the crap that you will get here. read more
