I purchased a new Yamaha 222S in Oklahoma, and soon thereafter moved it to Texas. I had recurring issues with a heat sensor. The Phil Dill Mobile service team led by John Kindhart took complete ownership of my problem even though Phil Dill Boats had not sold the boat to me originally. Turns out to have been a kinked hose from the manufacturer. Brandy was/is my service guy, made a few different trips to my lakehouse, and I now have a perfectly functioning Yamaha. They like ripping the light cords out of the trailers and this time they missed tightening the screw on the lower unit so it was leaking fluid all over the place. Should have let it go and blow up the lower unit for them to replace. They don't take care in there work .....just push it through and get the job finished even though not complete. My wife and I purchased a 2014 Regal 2500 from Phil Dill Boats in early August 2021. We were just "looking around" when we found this boat on their website, but after emailing, texting and talking with Dakota, we knew this was the boat for us & were confident in the dealership and staff. Communication is the key in any sales transaction and the entire staff at Phil Dill Boats understands that and excels at it. From the first phone call with Dakota, we knew we were talking to the right folks. That experience continued through the entire process, from the follow up conversation and meeting with Baily, the water test with Briley, closing with Corey, as with well as with Tom in the make ready shop. Everyone at Phil Dill Boats is a great communicator and understands the value of building a relationship during the sales process. The ultimate test of any relationship is service during and after the sale - especially when purchasing a used boat. We live about 3 hours from Phil Dill boats and only saw pictures of the boat online. When we got there, the boat was great, but there were a few items that we identified that we would like to be addressed while we were on the lake test with Briley. They are marking boats up well over MSRP to take advantage of a hot market and claim it's the "setup fee" to remove it from packaging, fill the fluids, and make it ready to deliver. ******BEWARE OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT PHIL DILL****** They are the slowest and sloppiest service department I have ever encountered. They make errors ordering parts and it will cost you both MONEY and TIME WITHOUT your boat. If you have an insurance claim, it will take them 2 weeks to simply be in contact with your insurance. I purchased my first boat from Phil Dill after doing research for a couple years. We hit up the boat show several times, and finally decided to pull the trigger. Overall the buying experience was not bad, but that is the only part that has gone smoothly. Since purchasing from Phil dill, they have been almost completely unresponsive, from the sales guy to the service department. With a new boat, I would assume there would be a few hiccups. There is some cracking in the gel coat in the anchor locker, and the ski locker has a hydraulic arm that broke off (It did not have all the screws in in from factory). I called and sent pictures to our sales guy, he never got back with us. I figured I would just have them look at it on our 10hr service. I called and left 3 messages for the service department and filled out a service request online, and no one ever responded. Finally after texting our sales guy sent me a text with a phone number to call for service. I spoke with someone there that told me I would have to drop the boat off for 6-8 weeks for them to do the first service and look at the warranty concerns. What?! And they want $624 for this service as well. After asking Jake, my sales guy, he said that he would talk to the "Head cheese" for me and to stand by. That was almost a month ago, and no word back. Stay away from this place if you expect any service whatsoever after they sell you a boat. Wish I had went elsewhere. read more

Phil Dill was great!   I recently purchased previously owned Chaparral 265 SSi from the Phil Dill used boat center.  There were definitely a few mis-steps, some miscommunication, and some technical problems that could (and should) have been avoided that could very easily have turned the deal sideways, but I in the end all was handled with the utmost professionalism and what appeared to be an honest focus on customer service.       The process included a fair amount of back and forth, multiple sea trials, and some follow-up service work.    As such, I had occasion to interact with Phil Dill's1 Sales, Management, Business, and the Service Teams over a 2 week period.    In the end all were at the top of their game.   I have to say that the Service Dept in particular went above and beyond what was required to to make things right, they came through in every way I could have hoped.    Haven't had any need for any after-sale service yet but so far so good!  Way to go! read more

Went in looking to buy a pontoon left after horrible customer service. Other customers there were also upset. We were with friends who were looking for a used boat and they were told that this boat was great! We drove 600 miles to see the boat only to find out the boat of a piece of crap. Prior to them having their test drive which was scheduled at 2:00 and it didn't happen until 4:30. Which we found out later why it took so long is because they were trying to get it to try and run without missing and had their mechanic hooking up his computer to program it... Didn't work! My husband and I were looking at a pontoon I guess they are so busy they are not interested in a sale. Which is fine because after what happened to our friends we definitely didn't want anything to do with this dealership. Also my understanding is within Denton county all businesses are required to wear masks. Every salesperson did not wear a mask at all and was getting up close to us. After looking into this business a little more I think it's possible the business Phil built up is probably ran by his family. The salesman yelled at our friends in front of the manager and the manger did nothing so that tells me it's all in the family business. The customers don't matter. Not wearing masks when it's mandated in your county at this time is also not being respectful to your customers. Having customers drive 600 miles for a boat that runs great and is in great condition when it obviously is not is a bit underhanded. My husband and I run 2 businesses and buy out of the Dallas area this is the first time we have run into a business that we felt was very inconsiderate of their customers. You don't have customers drive that far and promise a great item. Always promise less and deliver more. We've had businesses cater to us whenever they know we were going to make that long of a trip to buy from them. Not have a salesperson yell at them for a possible blown engine leaking oil and gas. We were able to work out a deal that I was happy with. I did in house financing as it was better than what I found anywhere else and the rate was very competitive. I traveled from El Paso to Phil Dill in Lewisville TX and was very disappointed and felt deceived. I put a deposit down on the boat and Alex scheduled me to take the boat out on Sat June 27th at 2pm. This arrangement was one week prior to my trip to Phil Dill. Alex told me that they would tune the boat and get it ready for us. On Friday the 26th my wife and I were on the road and Alex called. He stated that he took the boat out and said it ran great and that everything was looking good. I was getting excited. The next day Alex called and asked if we could come later then 2pm, he asked for us to show up at 230 or 245pm. Once we got there another dealer greeted us and we asked for Alex. He text Alex and said he would be with us in a minute. We waited about half an hour and decided to walk around to see if the boat was on the lot. This is when we saw the boat being pulled back into the parking lot. This was a little puzzling but even more puzzling was watching a mechanic jump into the boat and start working on the engine. We decided to walk over and take a closer look. The boat was filthy and the mechanic shut the engine cover and said, "I was taking a reading" jumped down and left. It had been an hour and half and the boat still needed to be detailed. We were walking back and Alex greeted us for the first time. He said that the boat was going into the detail shop and he would put all hands on getting it ready for us to take it on a test drive. They pulled it into the bay and I noticed the mechanic went in and continued to work on the boat. About 30-45 minutes later I decided to check on the boat and it was gone again. They had taken it back to the lake again. An hour passed and it finally came back and they told us it was ready. I walked around the trailer to inspect it. Half the lights were out and not working. During detailing they knocked 2 letters off the Crownline lettering on the left side and said they couldn't find them. The introduced us to a tech that was going to take us out to the lake. I asked if she knew anything about engines if I had any questions, they said to take notes and ask when we get back. Once we got to the lake the tech couldn't figure out how to open the engine cover. I did it for her. I inspected the engine and the first thing I noticed was a very strong gas vapor coming form the engine. I know my engines and yes it is a big block 454 but something was wrong. There was too much vapor coming from the engine. I reached down to test the battery cables and the first one came off in my hand. The head of the cable was rusted and couldn't be tightened. I pushed it back on and told the tech. I noticed extra screws lying around in the engine compartment. Not sure where those came from. I also notice the carpeting around the engine compartment was extremely greasy and soiled. Once we were in the water it started right up. Finally a good sign but I noticed the tech was having trouble steering. I asked her if everything was all right? She replied, "Alex order another steering cable", this one is bad. The new one was to come in next week. I was silent and she replied, "I take it you didn't know?" I replied "nope". I explained to her that we were from El Paso and leaving tomorrow and if we were to buy the boat what was the plan to replace the cable? She told me to work that out with Alex. Once outside the no wake zone she opened it up but it seemed to bog down at first then it took off. After a minute she let my wife drive but she couldn't steer the boat and I took over. It was hard to steer but I was more interested in the bogging down at acceleration. Several times I would bring the boat to a stop and get on it and each time it would spit, sputter, bog and almost quit. Once it got passed that it would take off. I know my engines; this boat had serious injection problems. The smell of gas got very strong even though the blower was on. This engine needed more then just a tune up. I told the tech we were done. We went back to the dealership. It was already past 6pm and they were closing down but waiting on us. Once we pulled in I went in to was my hands, I had grease on my hands from the steering wheel and throttle from the mechanic working on it. When I came out and went outside I noticed a contentious conversation going on. Alex confronted my wife; he said the tech told him we were talking bad about him on the boat. I know I was mad and probably sounded sarcastic but my wife had nothing to do with it. When I was in the bathroom he confronted her and was talking loud and over my wife in front of the sales manager. My wife asked the sales manager if he was going to let an employee talk to a customer like that. Alex calmed down and apologized but was still up set. I told the sales manager that we were very disappointed about driving all the way to his dealership from El Paso and found that the boat was far from being what we were told by Alex. read more

Phil Dill Boats is great! I purchased my 2017 Yamaha FSH 190 sport here, and the whole process was seemless. Sheri was my salesperson and she really went out of her way to making the purchase decision as painless as possible. This was a huge buy for me, being a schoolteacher and all, but I could not be more pleased with the boat and the dealer. The service has always been top notch, from getting a keel replaced (hit a stump-was covered under warranty!), to just recently having a GPS trolling motor expertly installed. Michael in service and Chris in parts have been right there with any questions I had, and getting things done as soon and smooth as possible. Can not say enough about these guys. ***WARNING*** Phil Dill Boats "The Spoiler of Wet Dreams" Heads Up Guys! Ok, I don't like writing but this is worth the read. I have a real nice late model cruiser with 128 hours that has been meticuosly maintained. I was out on the water at the begining of the season. The boat was running great but didn't come up to full power and plane out, (It did earlier that day) I tried it again and after a few minutes it came up to full power and planed out, it did this twice that day. I took it in to Phil Dill and said to replace the fuel filter and that it may need new plugs, rotor and distributor cap. I get a call stating that a cylinder was dead and the spark plug was burned and that it would have to be rebuilt, but they didn't do that type of work but they had someone who did and it would be $6K to rebuild the engine. So. I do know something about engines and I went over it again with them asking what they checked and got the same answer that a cylinder was dead and it needed to be rebuilt at the cost of $6,000. Well some people, with deep pockets that don't know anything about engines probpally would have said oh, ok. I ran up and picked my boat up and got it out of there immediately! I had the compression checked and everything was fine. I changed the fuel filter, plugs, rotor and cap myself and it's been running like brand new ever since. I'm going to post another experience as this was a different time that happened at Phil DIll Boats. read more

We bought a 2016 Yamaha 242X E Series last May from Travis Rogers at Phil Dill. He bent over backwards getting us a boat that was Sold Out everywhere. He was able to locate the boat in Houston and had it shipped here. We enjoyed the boat, and had a blast on it all Summer long, although there ballasts never functioned the way they were supposed to. Not Phil Dill's fault, but none the less, we wanted a boat that we could surf behind! When the 2018 model was released, we decided to trade in our 2016 for the 2018 that offered a new ballast system and SurfPointe. I can't say enough about the professionalism, customer service, and overall experience with our Sales rep Travis, Sales Manager Nathan, and Phil Dill. I purchased our third boat from Phil Dill in March of 2015. 2 previous purchases were used boats and we were extremely happy with both Gary and the Phil Dill staff. This purchase was a new Yamaha and we have been pleased with it. I took it in for an oil change only and when I picked it up my charge was for $400 +. When I inquired about this they said it was for an annual service. When I had inquired about an oil change price for my boat I was quoted $179.00. So with no prior explanation or quote they took it upon themselves to perform more than I had requested and told me that it was what I had signed for. Not even close, when I dropped it off they said the Yamaha needed an oil change every 100 hours or once a year minimum. I said this would fall under the annual requirement as I only put 50-60 hours on it since the last one a year ago. They changed out spark plugs and did a basic examine on my boat for an additional $220.00 without prior consent. Spark plugs at 50-60 hours of run time. I have written some great reviews for Phil Dill Boats in the past but this a cautionary tale folks. Get the final price in writing before you leave or you my pay for things you were not informed of. While I might have consented to this service if explained beforehand, I am pissed that it went down the way it did and I was not offered any apology or explanation as to why after 50 hours of use you would need to change out spark plugs, is the engine that inefficient. 3 days and still awaiting an answer from someone at Phil Dill. Update: Never did receive an answer to my question above. Now I attempted to get some warranty work done as the charger port has shorted out 2 phone chargers without blowing the circuit breaker. I was informed that I would have to bring in the boat to get it in line for examination and repair but it would be at least 3 weeks before it was looked at. 3-4 weeks backed up, I understand and don't have a problem with. Leaving it there instead of being put on a list to be brought in closer to the time to have it repaired is ridiculous. read more

I purchased a 2006 Yamaha boat from Phi Dill Boats, at the end 1013 season. the Used boat salesman aggraded to replace the step mat set in back swim platform as it was damaged from sun. at cost he clamed to be $1,000.00 in addition to the price of boat. , service & check out boat , & install a Hour meter on boat, along with other miss repairs , before I accepted the boat & took delivery the next week . during that week I did some research that the retail value of replacing step pads set was less then $500.00 including labor., on the day of delivery he kept lying about there cost for about 10 min. when I would not back down he admitted his dishonesty by saying what difference does if make that, they overcharged me !I am getting a good deal on the boat. this was not the only lye he made including " it was a consignment boat & Phi Dill did not own it. .They would not provide any paperwork that the boat did have only 15 hours on it as the salesman used to market the boat to us. & only gave me a hour meter for a jet sky that they said I could install. it was made for a engine with plug wires & will not work with coil pack ign. The step mats they installed are falling off , the spedo does not work most of the time & I saw a mechanic working on it that week but there is no paperwork on that. .they also tried to charge me $500.00 extra to go to tax office to transfer title & thought they were doing me a special deal by only charging me $50.00. Bottom line ! if you think a used car sales man might be dishonest this salesman has had over 20 years to profect the art of lye's to sell something . read more

We were told initially by Kevin that this was just something from detailing that needed to be buffed out. It was not. It was in fact a known manufacturing defect with the metallic flake reacting with the clear coat. We brought the boat back to Phil Dill Boats in the beginning of October for the SECOND time. The first being in August, in which nothing on our punch list was addressed, fixed, or repaired. There have been MASSIVE miscommunication issues between Phil Dill, Regal, and myself. The boat was "fixed" in January after using their second tier repair shop that not only did not fix the boat, but tried to cover up and lie about not knowing what needed to be done. This mistake/lie was as I am told due to a miscommunication between Phil Dill and Regal, resulting in a Regal claim denial originally and subsequently the wrong work being done. I was actually told by their service person that they were taking a loss on my boat. As if I was supposed to sympathize with them. It's warranty work, how would you take a loss? I have not had use of my boat for 6 months now. A BRAND NEW boat. Phil Dill has consistently given outrageously inaccurate timelines, poor service, and incompetent warranty information and communication. I would never buy a boat from here again and will be seeking legal action for loss of use and loss of valuation due to their negligence. read more

This mistake/lie was as I am told due to a miscommunication between Phil Dill and Regal, resulting in a Regal claim denial originally and subsequently the wrong work being done. I was actually told by their service person that they were taking a loss on my boat. As if I was supposed to sympathize with them. It's warranty work, how would you take a loss? I have not had use of my boat for 6 months now. A BRAND NEW boat. Phil Dill has consistently given outrageously inaccurate timelines, poor service, and incompetent warranty information and communication. I would never buy a boat from here again and will be seeking legal action for loss of use and loss of valuation due to their negligence. read more
