This place is friendly and easy going but the haircut I got from Chris was extremely disappointing. The cut and blowout were rushed and my hair looked old-fashioned if not boring. Because Chris did not use any product for the blowout, by the time I got home my hair looked like when I get up in the morning. To make things worse, Chris did not check his work at all, and when I got home I noticed a strand of hair 1 inch longer than the rest! The first time Chris cut my hair he did a great job. I went back but this time he kept talking to the other hair dresser and did a rush job. He forgot to trim my side bangs. Also I am not sure but he washed my hair so fast I don't know if he used shampoo or just wet my hair. I am an elderly person and I dress very plainly. This review is specifically for Christina. Wow, wow, wow. Christina was doing my hair (color and cut) for a couple of years but as I was spending more and more time in Maine I'd flirted around with other salons and hairdressers closer to home. But you know how you look in the mirror one day and think "What happened to my hair?" well, that happened and I realized my color just wasn't working. I figured I'd suck up the extra drive and go see Christina again. Best decision EVER! My hair is no longer dry/showing the grey through a kind of weird translucent color/looking terrible. Christina REALLY knows color and she's hidden the grey, found the perfect rich brown for me and with a glaze/gloss has made my hair look super shiny and healthy again. Not to mention a fabulous cut. I have another friend who visits Christina and she drives all the way from Connecticut so that should give you some idea of how great she is. If you're looking for a hair stylist who excels in color, will really listen to you and find the right color and cut for your skin tones/face shape etc then book an appointment with Christina asap. Prices are reasonable too - way less than Boston prices. It's also a very comfortable salon, if you're having your color done you're at a large table with tons of magazine and always some delicious sweet treat like cookies or muffins. After years of dragging myself to Newbury Street in Boston (and dealing with big egos and bad experiences!) a friend suggested that I make an appointment to see Joanne. She's everything you could want in a stylist - incredibly experienced (Sasoon in London and a few very posh salons in CA), patient and most importantly a fantastic LISTENER. She paid close attention while I described what I was looking for and exceeded all of my expectations. As a busy executive in the software industry, I need a cut that is current and easy for me to maintain while still looking great while at meetings with both staff and clients. this Salon has set a new standard in customer appreciation. I was trying to find a place for my wife to get her hair cut, she has cancer and the treatments have a nasty side affect, loss of hair. I brought her to the place I go, but the person at the desk, stated" were are closing" we informed them of our situation, but no change. If you decide to go to Philip Ciampa Salon for any reason, you must get your eyebrows done by Christina DelMonico while you are there. I have been going to Christina for brow waxing for almost 7 years now, and have loved the results every time. Christina is a perfectionist and listens to exactly what you want and gives the perfect shape. I am extremely picky with my brows and I have never been anything but happy when I left the salon. She will give you the perfect shape for your face and her waxes last longer than any other wax I have ever had. I now live 30 minutes away from the salon, but continue to go back for Christina. I decided I wanted to get a Brazilian Blowout and did some research on the certified salons and decided it would be fun to drive down to Andover, MA from New Hampshire (1 1/2 hour drive) to have this treatment done. So I booked it for June 25th. The appointment was really great! Bernice did the treatment, she was/is super friendly and very easy to chat to. Love her! There was a mix-up in the communication of pricing and I ended up having to pay $100 more for the treatment but I chocked it up to a miscommunication plus I was super happy with my new hair-do...until July 5th my hair was back to its normal frizzy self. I figured it had a lot to do with the humidity so I didn't think much of it. Fast forward to today, July 28th and my hair is 100% back to it normal texture. I called Brazilian Blowout's corporate office and they told me to check with the salon on the steps of their process. I called the salon and Pam suggested I come in to see Bernice to have her take a look at my hair and go from there. When I arrived at the salon, Bernice had no idea why I was there - she thought I was coming in for a cut! I felt so bad that Pam hadn't clued her in on why I was coming in and when I told her why I was there I could tell she felt terrible. After chatting about the process and comparing what she did with what the techs at Brazilian Blowout suggest to do, she realized that she did not perform the process the correct way to "set in" the treatment, she only "activated" it, again I felt terrible but it is what it is. She went to speak with Pam for a few minutes, they both came over to my chair and Pam offered to book me another appointment, free of charge, to do the treatment again. I gently said, "thank you but I don't think I will come in again, being that its 1 1/2 hour drive and the treatment takes 3 hours, I think I'd prefer to have my money refunded". Pam immediately informs me that they "don't give money back" but "we'll credit your file and whenever you want to come back, it could be a year from now - whenever works for you, you can come back and have it done for free" I again said I would prefer just having my money refunded as my family is headed on vacation for an extended period of time, then school is starting for the kids...I just didn't think I would be able to carve out the 6 hours needed to travel there and have that treatment done again. She would not budge, no refunds only credits. From my perspective, the treatment should last up to 12 weeks and it lasted 2 weeks. It's an 1 1/2 hour drive one way and I'd never gone there in the past - so why would I go back again? They're offering the service to me for free, so regardless if they are refunding me or doing the service, they are still out $350, right? Or am I missing something? And now I'm so disappointed that I'll never go back to use my own $350 that they so kindly have credited on my non-existent file. $350 down the drain!!!! read more

I have been going to Christina at Philip Ciampa for a few years now. When I first arrived my hair was super damaged from "trying out" stylists at other salons. Christina is the only stylist that has ever been able to get my blonde just the way I like it - and I refuse to ever go anywhere else. She always does an amazing job and gives me tips to improve the quality of my hair (but also doesn't hesitate to tell you what NOT to do - which is equally important). My hair is very thin but is now in the best condition it has ever been. You can tell she is extremely passionate about her profession and truly cares about her client's satisfaction. She is extremely talented and has great ideas when I'm looking to switch up the color or cut. She doesn't push treatments or products on you and only recommends them if she thinks you will benefit from them. She is also a master at brow shaping/waxing which is not always easy to find (and Im extremely picky who I let do my brows). I have been going to Eileen for years formally at Marc Harris now she is here at Phillip Ciampa. The salon is very comfortable and friendly. They are in the process of renovating and seem to be bringing alot of things up to date! I am a natural dark blonde and bleach my hair platinum. She is able to get my hair to the level it needs to be without any damage. She is meticioulos about sectioning and never overlaps on my previous color! My stylist, Maria is down to earth, talented, and friendly and I always receive compliments on both by color and style. I went to multiple hair dressers prior and every one i went to had trouble getting my hair the right color blonde while keeping it healthy. Michelle has been the only person who could get my hair light enough without damaging it at all.
