Ordered tickets online for mobile delivery, got an email saying I needed to download the app to add them to my wallet. Did that. No tickets appear to be added. Read their FAQs, which directed me to the old no longer existent ticket site. Tried their online help (a useless AI bot). Requested a live agent. No live agent was available. So a ticket was created, detailing my issues. Received an email telling me to call their number. Called their number, got another AI bot, asked for an agent. Was told I needed to call back during business hours (which I clearly had, 10:43 on a Wednesday) and disconnected. Replied to their email again, telling them this. Was told to call them. Can you see why I'm frustrated?

We sat at the top of this grassy hill that had picnic tables all along it, which afforded great views of the game and much better than being squashed in some seat next to a sweaty guy. As long as it isnt terribly crowded like on the day we were there, you could really just relax and take in a nice afternoon of baseball. Otherwise sit up and pay attention, as the people watching is hilarious and sad all at the same time. Oh and dont get beaned with a ball.

The tank of live rays out in the outfield seemed to be a hit amongst visitors. The roof gives off odd alien spaceship vibes, but it looks cool when it lights up various colors in between innings and whenever a Rays player hits a home run. The biggest benefit of the roof is that you're protected from the rain and intense Florida summer heat. I'm not sure if the Rays have a big enough fanbase to justify an upgrade to a new ballpark, but they're long overdue for an upgrade from Tropicana Field which is a relic from a different era. While I'm glad to have caught a Rays matchup against the Miami Marlins here, I felt Tropicana Field (2.5/5) would rank near the bottom of the 20+ MLB ballparks I've been to, but happy to round up as the staff throughout the ballpark was very friendly.

Stan Heath was the coach of the 2021 championship team. He coached Lakeland from 2017 to 2021. Before becoming head coach of the Magic, he was a fairly successful college coach. That's where I remember him from. Heath led 10th-seeded Kent State to the 2002 Elite Eight. One of his sons, Josh Heath, played three seasons at Georgia Tech (my school). After winning the 2021 G League championship, Stan Heath has returned to the college ranks. He was hired to be the head coach at his alma mater, Eastern Michigan. Class of 2019 Princeton alum Devin Cannady was named 2021 G League Finals MVP. Shortly afterwards, he signed contracts with the Orlando Magic and appeared in eight games in the NBA before injuring his right ankle. Former NBA and European pro basketball player Anthony Parker has managed the Lakeland Magic since 2017. I remember Anthony Parker best for his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. His first year in Cleveland was LeBron James' last (of James' first stint with the Cavs). He was a significant contributor to that Cavs team that lost in the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals to the Boston Celtics. LeBron then left for Miami and the rest is history. The Magic have been successful since moving to Lakeland, outside of Tampa, in 2017. The team has qualified for the playoffs every year since they've been in Lakeland. They won the Southeast Division in 2019 and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals that year. This team used to be the Erie BayHawks of Erie, Pennsylvania (2008-2017). A new Erie BayHawks team was formed in 2019 and, only after a couple of years, was moved to Birmingham, Alabama. The Lakeland Magic officially own the original Erie BayHawks' franchise history.

The nats are bad down here can't keep them out of my drink and popcorn. Went upstairs to see if there was lids available. A guy at the top of the walk way said no it just extra protein. You can try a napkin. So okay I tried the napkin it worked till I took the napkin off to get a drink. So I went to guest services and tried to talk to guy I could not really see his name badge I think it said Tyler. He said what can I help you with. I said can I get a refund for this popcorn and drink or a bottle of water. He cut me off and said nope. I said do you even care why I am asking. He said we can't give you a refund really rudely. So I walk to the trash to dump the drink and popcorn. The lack of customer service I received at your facility tonight is very disappointing and I will not be returning if this is the way you treat your customers. Thank you for your time

Going to baseball games in the summer will guarantee that you will be extremely hot. The food and beverage selection is limited, but I can't say that I was expecting much. The price of the food and drinks is about on par for what you can expect to pay at a sporting event so there wasn't much surprise there. The field they play on is so well kept that it really does make the whole experience do much more enjoyable. Also, the setup of the park allows the spectators to be nice and up close to the action. While it's not somewhere I'll go all the time (because I can only handle so much minor league baseball), it's somewhere I do enjoy going. Another perk? Free parking!!
