We arrived there on a Monday to pick apples but once there learned it was just a weekend thing. One of the guys was kind enough to allow us to go to the orchard and pick a bag of apples. What a lovely place. We stopped for the hard cider which was really good but this place offers so much more. Lots of different baked goods, (my favorite is the day old deals) and gift shop. The staff was so friendly and very knowledgeable about their hard ciders. These ciders are on the dryer side which is right up our ally plus they aren't as carbonated as most hard ciders are. We pass through here a lot, I can't wait to come back get my growler filled, and pick up some baked goods. read more

I always thought it was super weird that there are two cider mills almost directly across the street from each other here, but they really are two totally different experiences. Phillips Orchards is just one small building, but they pack everything you could ever need in a cider mill into there! Make sure to get a punch card to work your way towards a free deliciously unpasteurized cider! They do free tastings of hard cider as well, and there's a fairly extensive bakery case too. In the middle is all kinds of Michigan-made products, from cheese to candles to popcorn. Well worth a stop if you're driving by! read more

Popped into Phillips Orchard & Cider Mill yesterday for a gallon of cider and apples - easy in and out, and they offer online ordering and curbside pick up for anyone who doesn't want to wear a mask. In addition to the delicious cider and several varieties of local apples (granny smith, golden delicious, honey crisp, jonamac, etc.), they have fresh baked goods, and local food and hand-crafted items. One of my favorite lines they carry are great smelling candles with smoky scents that bring bonfires and woodstove heat smells into my city apartment. read more

Let me say this first. This is a very nice cider mill. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great! The cider was very good. For me personally, it all comes down to the donuts. There is nothing better than a warm donut with fresh cider; preferably sugar. These donuts are pre-maid. They have them in refrigerators in large bags near the register. They're good, but you won't get a warm, fresh donut here. That's why I gave a 4 star instead of 5. If you don't care about the donuts. This place is great! I highly recommend it You could do what we did. Go here and then UJ's just down the street. UJ's has warm plain donuts. read more

We found this place by chance. We were going to another place that was across the road but closed. When we stopped there are tons of Michigan made goods for sale and fresh baked goods too. Off to the side is a small tasting area. They had 4 ciders to try for free. The sample size was large. You can buy a glass and enjoy it on the premises or you can take a growler to go. The ciders rotate frequently so stop back if there are none that you like. The staff is friendly and welcoming. read more

I am such a sucker for fall, and my requirements for the perfect fall outing include: apple picking, cider drinking, donut eating, horse drawn wagon rides, and mum buying - THIS PLACE HAS IT ALL!! We loved the local goods - jams, sauerkraut, switchel, chocolate covered cherries. I got a frozen cider slush because it sounded so refreshing but my mom got the hot spiced cider and loved it. It is about the donuts for me. These are not fresh made. They were cold and even tasted day old. I should have known better when walking in as there was no smell of fresh made donuts. Love love love this place! The cookies and lemon bars are heavenly, more flavors than anywhere else. Never bought anything that wasn't wonderful. Last visit the lemon bars had already sold out, but the shortbread frosted cookie was new to me and absolutely delish. Cider slushies are our other favorite treat. Phillip's Orchards is amazing from the great customer service to the delicious cider slushies and cinnamon doughnuts. Phillips is much less expensive and tastes better than U.J.s (Uncle Johns). If you hate swarms and swarms of people or you are just impatient Phillips is much less busy. The only downside is that they don't have any activities for the little ones but don't judge a book by its cover because Philips is great! read more

I am regular customer as I travel between my lake house and primary residence. I shop here whether north or south bound. I generally buy a gallon or two of cider plus a cider slush and other food items and various other things. I even stopped there at the beginning of COVID when they would only give you cider curbside as the store was closed to shop inside. Also I've purchased some of their wall hangings as I did today. I wanted to drop off a couple 1/2 gallons at some friends as well as purchase a gallon for myself. They offer a punch card that awards you a free gallon after you purchase 10. I need two more for my free one. I asked the clerk if she would let me count the 2 half gallons as one for my card. She refused saying I need to start a half gallon card. I said I do not normally buy half gallons but this was to no avail. She could see I was displeased and dug in further repeatedly offering me a punch card for half gallons. Her "system" would not allow her to punch my gallon card. She was holding the punch. What system? I walked out with with purchases in excess of $60.00 but not happy. read more

My Mom and Dad both worked in the Pie Barn. The only thing I wish were back is the way they use pallets and gunny sacks to make the cider, but I'm sure, due to health laws, they aren't allowed to do it that way anymore. A good time to go is around Halloween time and I love the gift shop! read more

Greg and Brian are just terrific people and they've treated me kindly every time I stop in. The cider and donuts are FAR superior to that of Uncle Johns. They have horse rides and pumpkins. They sell a bunch of Michigan crafted products. It's totally a down home place, not gimmicky or touristy. Love it! read more

This was our first trip to Phillips Cider Mill. We weren't expecting much (due to the hype of the place across the street) but thought we would check it out. We got cider and donuts from both places and went home, did a blind taste test of both, and Phillips was the all around victor in both categories!
