What went well? EVERYTHING! They are the most caring veterinary staff within at least one hundred miles!!! They have never failed to help us whether it was a routine visit, a horrible emergency or a stupid question. They have always been there for us and saved our pit from death after she had been poisoned on two separate occasions. I would have thought it impossible, especially the first time. So I live in Madison, but I'm from Section. In Huntsville/Madison the prices are ASTRONOMICAL! To just get two dogs their yearly vaccines I once had to pay $350!!! I said never again. Fast forward to the darkest time of my being a pet owner. Dec 2017. My big dog Huck got out of our backyard and consequently got hit by a car before I could find him. He was taken to Decatur initially and was luckily fine except radial nerve damage in one front leg. After getting used to walking on 3 legs, we tried everything to get his function back. We took him to vet and he actually did underwater physical therapy! Well. The nerves did start to grow back and we came home from work one day and he had started self mutilating his paw (pictured). Our Madison vet said that once they start this they do not stop. Even though we had him bandaged up (pictured). So we had to find a vet that would help us remove the leg. (Accident was in Dec 2017, but the leg was removed in Feb/March 2018). Vets in area (including my own) gave quote of $2000-1300 to perform the surgery. My parents still lived in Section and were very loyal customers to Dr. Phillips. They told me to check with him/them. They would perform the surgery for $350. Sold! So I drove him an hour to have him fixed. And the work that was done was phenomenal. He scarred up so nicely and it was the perfect job. I hated Huck losing his leg but I'm so grateful that Dr. Phillips was there to take care of this awful situation in a professional and affordable way. Now, when my dogs need neutered or vaccinated I literally drive an hour to receive the best most affordable care around. Sorry--I'm one of the reasons why people are waiting outside the door for hours to be seen on Sat morning. If you need excellent care for an affordable price, you need to go here! read more

If you have animals, please, PLEASE, do not use PHILLIPS SMALL ANIMAL CLINIC. While I was sick last week and had someone keeping my dogs, Bella was taken here and was put to sleep at the request of the people who were keeping her. DR. AMY HOLDER, without my knowledge or consent, killed my dog. This clinic allowed someone whose name was NOT LISTED ANYWHERE ON MY PAPERWORK to sign the euthanasia order. No one even bothered to call me, the owner of the dog and the ONLY name listed on the account. HOW could ANYONE think this was justifiable or humane or the right thing to do, or even legal? Bella was killed on Friday and I didn't learn about it until Monday when I was feeling well enough to go pick up her and HT. This dog was as good as my child for 15 years and I didn't even get to say goodbye. I don't have a body to bury. Not a nose print, paw print, nothing. I don't even know what happened to her little body. She was arthritic and deaf and tinkled a lot. Old people do that too; we don't murder them for it. She was in no more pain that I am when I get out of bed in the mornings. Never yelped, whined, or cried. She would tinkle in her bed during the night sometimes, but she didn't deserve to die for it. She still ate plenty, played, and got around better than any other 15 year old dog I've ever known. She was fine and normal on Wednesday. There is no way she went down that badly in two days, or so quickly that no one could take a minute to call me. This NEVER should have been a life or death situation. I never would have allowed her or any of my animals to suffer, but she WASN'T suffering. I knew my dog and I know she wasn't suffering. She was happy. My heart breaks over and over every second of the day. I just imagine Bella so confused about why I dropped her off. Wondering what she did wrong. Why was she fine on Wednesday and dead by Friday? I will blame myself for the rest of my life. I will never understand this and I will never get over it. I don't have Facebook so please share this story so that PHILLIPS SMALL ANIMAL CLINIC and AMY HOLDER can never again literally get away with murder. read more

I have been taking my pets to Phillips for more than 6 years. They have always been a professional, compassionate, and thorough. They take walk in during the week and Saturday by appointment. They are also reasonable in cost. I highly recommend them. read more

Worst grooming service ever. My dog was there for over 8 hours, then informed me that I would have to go get cash since they did not take debit or credit cards. The staff held my dog hostage and dragged her away from me and closed the door. I should have called the police. They also did a very poor job of cutting her hair. I advise no one to use their service. read more

On Wednesday April 13,2016 our dog Daisie began making a coughing noise as if she had something hung in her throat. On Thursday April 14,2015 my husband took Daisie to Phillips Animal Clinic. The female vet (I don't know her name) who saw her said she did not have a fever and that is was allergies. She gave her a shot and two meds to give her twice a day with instructions to bring her back if she didn't improve in 24 hours. On Friday April 15,2015 at 7:00 am Daisie was lying on our couch and my husband called her name but their was no response, he went over to check her and her breathing was very shallow. He headed out to the vets and she died in route. Our Daisie did not live 24 hours! Our hearts are broken. Daisie trusted us to take care of her and by trusting her medical care to this clinic we failed her. I would give almost anything to turn back time and carry Daisie to her usual vet, it would have been a little longer trip and a little more expensive but I believe our Daisie would still be lying on the couch or bringing me her toys to play with. All her previous medical check ups gave her a clean bill of health. I do not believe it was allergies and I would not recommend that anyone trust the care of a loved pet and companion to this clinic. INCOMPETENCE does not begin to describe this veterinarian. Yes I am heartbroken, angry and feeling partly to blame because I trusted this vet to accurately diagnose and treat our family member and our Daisie is now lying under the oak in my backyard. read more
