He puts your pets care into your hands, he says things like, "if you're not comfortable with that then we could try this..." these are all things I have personally experienced with Dr. Waite, and I am very thankful for him.

Dr. Armes is a joke of an emergency vet…read more Yesterday we brought in our 7 year old husky mix after she got in a tiff with our friend's dog who came over to visit. The friends' dog was unfortunately not well behaved as expected and caused a 2cm deep .8inch long cut below our dog's left eye. It appeared as if it could use a stitch or two to close it up, but our biggest concern was that our dog had just been treated for an eye infection in that same eye. We were worried that the eye infection could travel into the fresh wound. And so we did what any responsible pet owner would do in this circumstance: take her to the emergency vet for a round of antibiotics, a cleaning, and to stitch the wound up. And that was our mistake. Little did we know that Dr. Armes was ready and on an incompetence warpath on this night. While we were there for 3 hours, our dog was left in a back room for observation. Dr. Armes then asked a series of questions. Most of which were absolutely ridiculous, insulting, and incredibly unprofessional. Here's some of the questions following for example: 1. Have you eaten, honey? You seem cranky. Like you should probably eat. 2. What food does the dog eat? When did she last eat? Are you on the food recall lists? You really should be. It's kind of ridiculous if you're not. Do you even care about your dog? 3: Oh, you got married today and you're up here without your husband on your wedding night. You obviously must have married a great man. [My wife and her maid of honor (who is a trained vet tech herself, runs a farm, owns a grooming business, and has all of her dog's records) were the ones present, and suggested that I not come due to the ridiculousness of 3 people there for 1 dog.] 4: What flea and tick medicine is she on? Nexguard?? Oh ok. But like which one? Is it nexguard, nexguard plus? Etc. ------------ Here's some additional ridiculous statements to drive the point home: 1: No we will not clean and stitch her eye. And if any vet would without putting her to sleep with general anesthetic and exploration of the wound then that vet clearly has no idea what they're doing and you shouldn't trust them. 2: We expect you to leave her for Anesthesia, Surgery, and then a night of overnight observation. 3: Well if you don't want to do that then you can just take her to her regular vet tomorrow. ---------- Here's some more crazy facts to add: We had to beg for a penicillin shot to keep her eye infection from traveling to her open wound. Dr. Armes never asked or requested information or records regarding vaccine status, of either dog. (I'm not a vet and even I know the first thing to check is for up-to-date rabies vaccines after a "dog fight".) We had to beg for the wound to be flushed, and our dog sat there for 3 hours while we went back and forth with Dr. Armes before she would clear the flush and penicillin shot. Naturally her vet tech did those 2 things, Dr Armes herself was just there as an argumentative obstacle with terrible people skills. She did absolutely nothing of value during the entirety of the visit. We did take our dog to her regular vet this morning, and our vet was absolutely appalled when we informed them that the dog was denied a flush and stitch and shot for 3 hours before finally getting any measure of care. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time that Dr. Armes name has come up at my regular vet office. Noted, that her name is never brought up in a positive light. We are planning on stopping by to speak with her supervisor today, and if that does not go well we'll be attempting contact with the owner to take the next steps forward. Dr. Armes is a risk to the pets we adore, and disrespectful to their owners. She should not be on your staff. UPDATE: Since posting this we have received confirmation from our regular vet that no surgery, stitches, or anesthesia will be necessary. I wonder what that un necessary care would have cost?

Outstanding Professional Help…read more We found Companion Animal Care about five years ago when my wife and I moved to Huntsville and needed various services for our senior King Charles Cavalier, Rex. Through a number of medical issues that Rex had over the years, Dr. David Alford and his caring staff were always attentive to Rex's (and our) needs and provided expert and empathetic care and advice that helped keep him safe and healthy. Then on April 3, 2024 Rex was severely mauled by a Doberman and his life hung in the balance. Dr. Rhonda Buxton, who was a recent addition to the Companion staff, immediately took charge of the situation. As Rex battled for his life, Dr. Buxton and the staff repeatedly worked on keeping him alive, comfortable, and stable in his recovery. When he took a turn for the worse and we made the difficult decision that it was time to lovingly say goodbye, Dr. Buxton helped ease him out of his pain. With my wife Nancy and I in attendance, we said our goodbyes to the little guy. Throughout the whole experience, the staff at Companion Animal Clinic was exceptionally empathetic and professional, making that period more bearable for Nancy and me. He examined him without running any tests on him at all, and told me the mass was just a swollen lymph node on his back leg. He looked at the scabs on him and told me they were "ant bites" and that the "swollen lymph node" was probably due to the ant bites. He sent me home without having anything done to further examine the mass. I felt like something wasn't right after about a week when it had increased in size, so I went to get a second opinion at another vet. They immediately did an aspirate of the mass and told me that it was a mast cell tumor! It has since increased in size in such a short amount of time, and he is currently scheduled to have his leg amputated because of it! I have since switched his food to raw which has completely cleared up the skin issues he was having. This doctor does not care about your babies and only cares about trying to push Science Diet on you at every visit. I have heard from SEVERAL sources that he doesn't like to diagnose "pink elephants."

Dr. Murdock ran bloodwork and diagnosed him with renal failure. As my heart sank, Dr. Murdock remained a steady, optimistic presence. He created a detailed care plan that involved Ammo staying overnight for a week. What stood out was his transparency: he provided an itemized quote from lowest to highest cost, and explained the treatment thoroughly, helping me make informed decisions during an incredibly emotional time. Throughout Ammo's stay, I was allowed to visit multiple times a day. The staff even provided a private room so I could spend quiet, comforting time with Ammo to lift his spirits. Every single staff member I encountered was incredibly gracious, patient, and understanding. I'm sure I was an interruption to their busy day, but they never once made me feel that way. Their warmth and professionalism went far beyond what the word "kind" can express--they were truly exceptional. After the third day, Ammo took a turn for the worse. Dr. Murdock was honest, compassionate, and met me late at night to administer pain medication so I could spend meaningful final moments with my beloved companion. The next morning, I brought Ammo in for observation, per Dr. Murdock's instruction, and for comfort care until the euthanasia was performed. I was devastated, but Dr. Murdock's empathy never wavered. He and his staff member Jennifer came to my home so Ammo could transition peacefully, surrounded by love--my husband and I by his side. I was still emotional, and Dr. Murdock offered to help my husband with the burial process. We live on a small farm, and although my husband told him it wasn't necessary, Dr. Murdock helped anyway. This was well after his normal hours of operation--a gesture that speaks volumes about his compassion, dedication, and humanity. Dr. Murdock and his team don't just care for animals--they care deeply for the people who love them. In one of the hardest moments of my life, they gave me peace, dignity, and unwavering support.
