This is the case for filling prescriptions, but especially for vaccines. Multiple times I have scheduled appointments for vaccines here. Whenever it's anyone else, I get right in with my insurance information quickly and efficiently. But with her, I have never been able to actually get a vaccination. This has been 4 different occasions. She has repeatedly told me I don't have the correct information or that my insurance doesn't cover it, even though they do. She is unwilling to call my insurance to confirm or work with me with the information that I have that is sufficient for anyone else. I go to the Safeway that's much further away on the same day and get the vaccine with no problem. My only conclusion is that she is politically anti-vaccine and resists any customers who want one.

Anyway, at self-checkout, the damn device detected my personal bags and the prescription bag and wouldn't allow me to finish without the obvious fat ass that was supposed to be monitoring the area, finally walked back very leisurely to the area and point blank accused me of being the problem with my bags. I'm 80 years old and I don't need some damn lazy idiot telling me that I'm the problem. If he had been working for me back in the day, I would have fired his lazy damned ass.

I usually commute by bike, so that's a bigger deal, especially since it takes some cycling on less than ideal streets to get there. I recently needed some wound management supplies. On the way home, my friend stopped by Bi-Mart first. I am a big fan. They didn't have what we needed. We went by Rite-Aid knowing they are usually the most expensive. They apparently carried one of the items we needed, but they were out of stock. We did take note of the price. I waited in line to ask the pharmacist in case they had some other things in back that weren't on the shelf. They told me to go talk to the other part of the store as they just dispense medication. Another line, and I got a cold, "Nope; if it's not on the shelf we ain't got it." We were going to head out to the other Bi-Mart and Safeway next, but decided to stop at Rice's on the way. I am glad we did. My friend didn't want to stop there, but my friend's mind has now been changed. Not only did they have all the items we needed, the prices were much more affordable. Did I mention the staff is very friendly? No. I guess I didn't. Well, they are. Helpful and friendly. Even though it's out of the way, I think I'm going to tell my doctors to change all my prescriptions to Rices. If that helps keep them in business, it's a no-brainer. Small independent shop that cares about the community, unlike Rite-Aid which is a huge corporation - allegedly number 148 in the Fortune 500. Far more personable. It reminds me of growing up in the '70s. One of our neighbors was a pharmacist at an independent drug store nearby. We always used that pharmacy for the same reasons I'll always use Rice's now.

This place didn't seem as big but seems like they pack a lot more items compared to the other location. The aisles are just a teeny bit narrower at this location as well. I was able to get a nice shower hanger for five bucks and some braided floor mats for a great price. Add on knick knacks and I walked out almost a car load of everything I did and did not need. This is a family owned business so I'd rather spend my dollars here than a big box store. If you get a chance, definitely give this store a try before heading to the chain stores.
