I usually commute by bike, so that's a bigger deal, especially since it takes some cycling on less than ideal streets to get there. I recently needed some wound management supplies. On the way home, my friend stopped by Bi-Mart first. I am a big fan. They didn't have what we needed. We went by Rite-Aid knowing they are usually the most expensive. They apparently carried one of the items we needed, but they were out of stock. We did take note of the price. I waited in line to ask the pharmacist in case they had some other things in back that weren't on the shelf. They told me to go talk to the other part of the store as they just dispense medication. Another line, and I got a cold, "Nope; if it's not on the shelf we ain't got it." We were going to head out to the other Bi-Mart and Safeway next, but decided to stop at Rice's on the way. I am glad we did. My friend didn't want to stop there, but my friend's mind has now been changed. Not only did they have all the items we needed, the prices were much more affordable. Did I mention the staff is very friendly? No. I guess I didn't. Well, they are. Helpful and friendly. Even though it's out of the way, I think I'm going to tell my doctors to change all my prescriptions to Rices. If that helps keep them in business, it's a no-brainer. Small independent shop that cares about the community, unlike Rite-Aid which is a huge corporation - allegedly number 148 in the Fortune 500. Far more personable. It reminds me of growing up in the '70s. One of our neighbors was a pharmacist at an independent drug store nearby. We always used that pharmacy for the same reasons I'll always use Rice's now.

Both times Jean, the pharmacist, was friendly, professional, & exceedingly helpful, doing the legwork to find the products and quote me a price. *Be aware many pharmacies online won't quote a product price without a prescription. Though that may save them a minute or two of their techs time, I'm not about to waste my VET's time sending in prescriptions to multiple pharmacies just for pricing, so their loss. Once we settled on the treatment regimen, Jean was able to compound up the two medications the same day so that I could start treatment on a weekend, and kept me updated as things progressed. 100% recommend. The receptionist said your appt is for our 3rd street location and they have a 5 minute late gap to accept patient. I arrived 6 minutes late. I noticed there signage says VISION CENTER. I never would have guessed it is the same business as the other location. When I arrived, the receptionist asked do you have your paperwork? No, I never received any. She said sInce theres no paperwork then we'll need to reschedule. At that point I left stating I'd find some other doctor in Corvallis to have an exam with. This is extremely poor practice and they lost a customer who would have purchased "several" pair of glasses from them at this appt, not just one. Also, they need to actually SEND paperwork or let people know it's required so they can pick it up in advance. If you use them be certain you can only be 5 minutes late after rushing over from the other location which is actually called Eyecare Associates. Poor practice!

When I asked how long the appointment would be she said they schedule 15 minutes for each issue. I could schedule several appointments to cover the issues I have. So, each issue (fifteen min appt) would be billing Medicare and my private insurance. Receptionist asked me if I wanted to schedule more appointments to cover my issues. I decided I need to find another doctor and clinic where my needs can be met with one appointment. I am really disappointed as I have been a patient with Corvallis Family Medicine for several years.
