I usually commute by bike, so that's a bigger deal, especially since it takes some cycling on less than ideal streets to get there. I recently needed some wound management supplies. On the way home, my friend stopped by Bi-Mart first. I am a big fan. They didn't have what we needed. We went by Rite-Aid knowing they are usually the most expensive. They apparently carried one of the items we needed, but they were out of stock. We did take note of the price. I waited in line to ask the pharmacist in case they had some other things in back that weren't on the shelf. They told me to go talk to the other part of the store as they just dispense medication. Another line, and I got a cold, "Nope; if it's not on the shelf we ain't got it." We were going to head out to the other Bi-Mart and Safeway next, but decided to stop at Rice's on the way. I am glad we did. My friend didn't want to stop there, but my friend's mind has now been changed. Not only did they have all the items we needed, the prices were much more affordable. Did I mention the staff is very friendly? No. I guess I didn't. Well, they are. Helpful and friendly. Even though it's out of the way, I think I'm going to tell my doctors to change all my prescriptions to Rices. If that helps keep them in business, it's a no-brainer. Small independent shop that cares about the community, unlike Rite-Aid which is a huge corporation - allegedly number 148 in the Fortune 500. Far more personable. It reminds me of growing up in the '70s. One of our neighbors was a pharmacist at an independent drug store nearby. We always used that pharmacy for the same reasons I'll always use Rice's now.

Both times Jean, the pharmacist, was friendly, professional, & exceedingly helpful, doing the legwork to find the products and quote me a price. *Be aware many pharmacies online won't quote a product price without a prescription. Though that may save them a minute or two of their techs time, I'm not about to waste my VET's time sending in prescriptions to multiple pharmacies just for pricing, so their loss. Once we settled on the treatment regimen, Jean was able to compound up the two medications the same day so that I could start treatment on a weekend, and kept me updated as things progressed. 100% recommend. Anyway, at self-checkout, the damn device detected my personal bags and the prescription bag and wouldn't allow me to finish without the obvious fat ass that was supposed to be monitoring the area, finally walked back very leisurely to the area and point blank accused me of being the problem with my bags. They don't seem to be there anymore, and service is once again what I used to expect. While it can sometimes be hard to find a staff member, sometimes it isn't. No mater; they have all been friendly and helpful lately. I like that. They never stopped being an affordable option for most products, although like any retail establishment some of their offerings are "cheap" rather than just a good value. Fortunately they will gladly accept a return if something fails, even if you have to use their pen. I haven't had to make a return since April, so I don't know if that silliness remains.
