My key fob broke while I was visiting my parents. By using the key without the fob I engaged the theft deterrent system and was unable to start my car. I sent an email message to Phil and he responded quickly (on a Sunday!) and helped me trouble shoot the key fob issue. He was very kind and professional. I bent the key to my 2006 Chevy. I straightened the key, but it wasn't working in the ignition. I didn't want to risk having it jam or break in the ignition. Phil was recommended by another locksmith. Phil made sure he had the correct blank key before setting up an appointment to cut a copy from my spare key. We set an appointment to meet in Cadillac because I live about 20 miles away. Phil cut a copy and made sure it self programmed. Phil was quick in completing the job. He was prompt in returning my calls. The cost was reasonable. I highly recommend Phil. read more

I bought a Nissan that only had one key. Afraid that I would lose that key and be totally screwed I ran to my local key shop to make another. I was outta luck and couldn't get one made until sometime after Christmas. What?! Checking Yelp for key shops, this one popped up so I called. I'm glad I did. Phil works alone out of his mobile unit and will go anywhere. He met with me at a local business in Kzoo he has a working relationship with. Normally you need an appointment but he was able to squeeze me in between two others. I needed a key with a chip and he had it in stock. For a 2001 Nissan about 14 years old. The dealership wanted over $140 and Phil only charged me $85, what a deal! He specializes in all kinds of automotive keys and auto locks. Regular, chipped and keys with fobs. In a half hour he had my new key in my hand and it worked perfectly. Great job! Phil squeezed me in on the spot, had it in stock, done in a half hour, and charged half the price. What else can I say? read more

While spring cleaning out my car, I locked my keys in them. I called Phil, and within a 1/2 an hour he was there to unlock my 2015 Ford Escape. He was very kind and informative. He also offered to help me get some spare fabs (because, lord knows I already lost the spare that came with it) made at a good price. I appreciate him coming out at 8:00 p.m. quickly and worked efficiently. Thank you, Phil! I would highly recommend. read more

He was later than expected, due to a job that took longer than expected. He worked very quickly to get me into my car (that I was locked out of). Then the he went above and beyond and researched the issue I was having with my locks (automatically locking on their own). He completely went above and beyond. Will definitely use again. read more

This guy was a total doll. He called me back right away, got there on time, and made me a new key that works perfectly (and gave me a un-lock key for free). He also had to figure out which fuse I had that wasn't allowing the code thing to read and didn't charge extra. Just a really nice guy all around! read more

My son had unfortunately lost his only car key fob the day before he was to hit the road and get back home. What I quickly learned was that making a new key for a newer car is not that simple. Phil was incredibly patient, thorough and professional. He returned phone calls, arrived when he said he would, and charged what he estimated. Not to mention, just a nice guy. Phil was very courteous and friendly. He is very good about calling back and being on time. Since I lost my original car key and did not have a copy, Phil drove to my residence and made me a key and programmed it on the spot in a timely, friendly manner. Also he did it for a good price. Phil Shooks was as kind and professional as he was quick yet thorough. It is hard to know who to call for these sort of things, especially late on a Saturday night. One worries about being overcharged, scammed, or worse. Without even leaving a voicemail message, Phil called me right back. Within 30 minutes of his arrival, my car was unlocked (and at an affordable price; especially for weekend after hours). He was very knowledgable about the lock and key trade in general and even gave us a referral for another type of service. All around good guy. You won't be disappointed!! read more

phils lock and key was started by phil shooks, Marcia and Don Shooks. initially we provided residential/ commercial service. Although we were mainly involved in the automotive lock & key side of locksmithing. Over time we continued too focus more and more on the constantly changing automotive locksmith field, we eventually decided too only offer automotive lock & key service. Which we continue too this day

Not a lot of locksmith in the White Cloud area and the ones I call couldn't help me with my situation. I had one key for my 2009 ford explorer. It was not attached to a keychain and I ended up dropping in the snow. I did not know where I dropped it. I searched for 4 hours and decided to call a locksmith. Phil was willing to drive down to White Cloud from cadillac to make a key. Yes I paid for the 70 mile trip but he was so kind and went right to work he made the ignition key and a door key just in case. I had a bad battery on top of all of this and he jumped my car and made sure I was all set to go before he wrote up the bill. You just don't find people and service like this anymore. Phil is a rock star! I was out in the middle of woods when I happened on this gentleman in huge need. He had lost his only key to his pickup. Parked in the middle of trail no less. After looking for the key ourselves for a hour plus. We talked tow truck or locksmith. Locksmith was his only option. So he called Phil, he listened to his dilemma .. Phil says I can be there in an hour. He was. A couple hours later the gentleman was on his way home. This gentleman was disabled ..diabetes, on dialysis and a few other problems. Phil saved the day. Although he couldn't help us ( Land Rover lost keys can only be done by the dealership) he was responsive, professional and guided me through a stressful situation. I misplaced my keys while at Walmart in Cadillac, and I called Phil's. He was very polite and gave me an estimate with an explanation of costs. Fortunately, while I was waiting for him to arrive, the keys were found before he made it to the site. The thing is he was so darn polite, even when I told him the keys were found. read more
