A chamber of commerce dream with multiple activities, performance stage, movie theater, art galleries and studios. There is no entrance fee and the displays change regularly. Just the architecture inside with curved windows with wood columns afford some stunning views of the St Croix river and adjoining park. The Phipps has such great productions! It is a beautiful theater in the best location. Lots of great surrounding restaurants to grab food before or after seeing a show. Easy parking and a great environment. Tickets are also affordable! Highly recommend. read more

Very nice place. Enjoyed watching the play Weekend Comedy there on July 27, 2019. The seating was great. Love the stage set up and the actors were great! I would have to say, the character Peggy, played by Cynthia Smith was the best. Her lines were effortless and natural.. I enjoyed the laughs. If you do not buy your tickets in advance please be prepared to have cash available to pay for your $20 ticket. read more

Full disclosure: Somewhat biased review as I love this place and all the people who made this place happen. Grew up in their children's theater productions. (Big E anyone??) Some of my very best memories and life lessons happened on and behind stage here. Today they have many more offerings: the usual plays and concerts of course, plus private voice and instrument lessons, birthday parties, photography and ceramic classes and demos, art exhibits. I loved my night at this Venue. I am not sure I would have liked the venue as much had the play not been so hysterically funny, but I enjoyed myself. The seats are roomy, there is plenty of leg room which is always a plus, and I had dynamite seats in the second row thanks to you, Goldstar! Beautiful downtown Hudson, Perfect Fall night, and a wonderful Venue, makes for a perfect date night! I am sad there are not many play performances here. :( read more

Community theatre at its best! Local talent shines in all their productions. Well worth it. Musicals use live orchestra in the pit, not pre-recorded. Children's theatre is great too! The theatre is in a great setting along the St Croix River. read more

We saw a high school production of Peter Pan and it was excellent for a youth show so I have NO complaint about the show whatsoever. The facility is dated, but nice. However, I did want to mention one thing. Check out the seating chart at the Phipps http://thephipps.org/about/facility/seating-chart/ When I bought my tickets, it was close to sold out and there were just a few single seats left. I bought the 2 seats marked CHAIR 2 and CHAIR 3 in the back row in the inside aisles. Neither of us were seated in the correct spot, the volunteer ushers didn't seem to know what they were doing, and we both ended up on the outside of the aisle. When I pay $25 for a particular seat (which is pretty high for a youth show), that is the seat I want. This isn't like going to a general admission show for $10-$15. If I had known they were going to move us in these chairs I might have selected different seats. The sight lines are pretty good in this theater but there's a big difference from the outer edge to the center. There were ushers or volunteers in those center seats so maybe that's standard. Either way they shouldn't have them in the chart like that if they're going to take liberties when people show up there. read more

We caught a Mississippi Jazz band here and they were great, everyone played several instruments and the old guys were very entertaining. The Phipps center seemed awfully dates despite only being about 30 years old. The staff was very kind and made sure to give us a brochure of the upcoming events,sadly there was nothing interesting unless you are under 12 or over 55. I hope they start to have shows with a broader appeal because with some spruce this place could be quite good. read more
