Phipps is a primo spot for people watching--like an airport but with a bigger concentration of luxury brand locales. We came here more for the adventure than to drop serious coin. The Santa here at Christmas is quite revered, and must be booked months in advance for a photo session appointment, which will run you $30, minimum! Sur la Table is a fun browse, and seems to have some interesting, reasonably-priced cooking classes in the kitchen at the back of the store. The Belk is of course gargantuan, and good sales can be found with a persistent attitude. The representative in the Steinway piano store is also nice and knowledgeable, and there are some really beautiful instruments in there. The mall has comfortable chairs throughout when your feet get tired from browsing. The disappointments for me were the Natural--Beauty Spa Boutique, which has staff stationed at the front of the store, aggressively trying to pedal free samples. I have already been fleeced by another Dead Sea cosmetics type of store in London (Yelped about a year ago) and it all came flooding back to me today when they started to work on my less street-savvy relative. Also, the Santa photo staff were ungraciously short with me when I asked about photos. The attendant made me feel like a complete numbskull that I had deigned to ask whether we could get a walk-in photo (apparently it's a reservation-based system that begins filling up in July). The roof leaks at the escalator area, the food court has enough seating for a few small families. The eateries outside of the food court look like you need to wear a suit and tie to enter (not that there's anything wrong with that - except that it discourages the casually dressed shopper from eating there). The stores - selection is limited and generally overpriced. Try to fit a family of 4 into an elevator with a stroller without feeling like one is in a sardine can and then wait forever for the elevator to go anywhere. It's faster to take the stairs and/or escalators. While the layout is okay, this Mall is NOT "all that" as its reputation would have you believe. read more

This is the most luxurious mall in Atlanta .Good place to walk around , and see what's the new trend for Fashion. Every body dress very fashionable and looks smart here ,not like Lenox mall (more like a thug mall ,but I like it. At least I can buy something from there). Lot of top notch luxury brand stores are locating here (like Gucci ,Armani , .......you name it most if them). Easy way to see new collection of Bentleys and other so called super cars. I happened to park under the fanciest section of the mall. As I ascended from the parking lot, I was awestruck at the sight of Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Barneys, and B&O. Surrounded by two grand spiral staircases and grand pianos, this was nothing like what I expected coming to this mall. So THIS is how Atlanta rolls! This must be the most concentrated of high end stores I have seen, even surpassing what you would see in Beverly Hills or South Coast Plaza. I'm impressed. However, one of the main purposes of my visit was to eat, not to shop. We deferred to the directory to try to find something palatable to satisfy our homesick tummies. However, the restaurants and food court did not provide an appetizing solution. We ended up getting back in the car and heading to Emeril's across the street. 1 star off for turning me away...to Emeril's of all places. read more

Whoa Nelly, Whats the deal with all the new stores?? Tory Burch moved down a few doors from her original space, and Michael Kors is now where Theory use to be. They closed the Barney's Co-op and added Rebecca Taylor. There is also a swimsuit store that looks ultra expensive from the outside, called Everything But the Water. I saw one of Lil Wayne's baby mommas shopping for Yves Saint Laurent bags in Saks. Dang. Why couldn't I have had a baby by a rapper?? No longer has Williams Sonoma, but has Sur La Table, which is NO Williams Sonoma, I mean it looks like they just took tons of kitchen stuff threw it in the store and where it fell, they were it lies. Still Atlanta pride and joy when it comes to high end shopping. You got Saks, Gucci, Versace, Wolford, and Bottega Veneta, Nordstroms, Tiffany's, Carter Barnes, Joes Jeans and Intermix. So reading the reviews so far, and yes you'll see folks bringing up Lenox quite a bit. Both malls have the same type of high end stores, but I feel more like myself when coming to Phipps. To me, Lenox has that atmosphere of "you better dress like you're from a LV ad if you step into our space" feel to it. Phipps I can dress a little down and still have a good time walking around. It's a good high end mall. The air conditioning is a bit too much and it's stuffy. Floors are clean. Toilets are clean and well maintained. And shops are numerous. But remember that it's a high end mall. So you don't get to see discount shopping a lot. And prices reflect it. The same item at bed bath & beyond here is costlier than in perimeter mall. read more

The only reason I went to this place was for the Legoland Discovery Center. The parking is an atrocity with the underground parking set up as a maze. "Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here". The signage is ridiculous. The Exit signs point you in A direction but the next sign you see is on the wall of the garage. No arrows, no signs ... just confusion. I had to ask directions on how to get out. read more

How does this mall stay in business? There are hardly any humans there and it was a Saturday afternoon. Is it too pricey? Is everyone over at Lenox? My first thought when I walked into Phipps was, "Wow. I'm WAY too broke to be shopping here." Phipps Plaza is definitely a mall where you should probably have a lot of money to be able to shop there. It's nice to walk around and see all the high-end brand name stores, though, especially Tiffany and Co. There is a Legoland on the third floor so if you have kids and you're feeling generous, that may be a place to take them. There isn't much of a food court. It's very small and it's not much of a court, either; it's more of a food aisle, I guess you can say. Seating in the food court is also limited but there are also some stand alone restaurants near the mall. For me, Phipps Plaza is fun to come to once in a while because honestly, it's too far for me. If you're spending a day in Atlanta, definitely check out Phipps. read more

This is the nicest mall I've ever been to in my life! Very very clean and everything is made of marble. It looks like the type of mall you'd find in Dubai it was so upscale. You know how in malls they'll park like the newest Hyundai in the middle of the mall to showcase it, this mall had Bentleys parked in it, that's how nice it is. This mall is freaking huge too. It's three stories and just endless. We just kept walking and finding new things. You could spend all day here from open to close and not have enough time to see each store. I'm not sure they have a food court per se, there's a few restaurants next to the LEGOLAND but it wasn't exactly a food court. Maybe a food court is too low class for this place or something. We rolled up in our sweet Dodge Journey and were surrounded by BMWs, Mercedes, Corvettes and just all sorts of super expensive cars. The star I deducted was because this place reminded me of just how low-middle class I was and made me hate myself a little bit for not being able to afford anything here. But in all honestly this place is extremely nice, but also very expensive. read more

You must be delusional to think that this mall deserves anything over 2 stars. Yes, the stores are good BUT the content in the stores SUCK. The inventory sucks. The salespeople suck. The layout sucks. Restaurants are okay, but the food court is pathetic and depressing. Many of the stores here never carry the newest merchandise. They will sell a very old, last season item, as if its brand new, just off the runway! They have very little variety, very few sizes, and they get the new merchandise embarrassingly late if at all. The salespeople suck. They are always watching you and making you feel uncomfortable. However, when you need something, where the hell are they? Or they'll be all over you, offering stuff you don't want. And it's totally true that if you're not dressed nice they don't give you service. The layout is really bad too and I constantly find myself going in circles. read more

Phipps is fine. It's beautiful (which is why it's 3 stars instead of 2) but I cannot afford it in my wildest dreams. I can pretend by going to the movies there and enjoy their plush recliners, or window shop and act like I can buy an $800 purse, but that's about it. I wish I had more to say.. maybe another day when I make 6 figures. Even the Starbucks is meh. Not only are there no walls to plug into any outlets, but the barista insulted me before I ordered my drink. "Is that a NJ tattoo?" "Yes!" Updating my review after several visits over the past year and a half or so. I've actually come to like Phipps quite a bit. After figuring out the parking situation and finding a common entrance that I use almost every time, I've grown quite fond of this place. The AMC theatres at Phipps has a lot to do with my sentiment and I'd say that's a really good thing. Those cozy seats and lines of Coke Freestyle machines make it easily one of my favorite theatres in Atlanta for blockbuster films. Really glad to have Phipps in ATL. Where I may not be one to go shopping ever, I'm glad that I've found the things that work for me. read more

I'm over malls, but if you love them and you love labels, Phipps Plaza is probably a good place for you. I remember when we first visited Phipps as out-of-towners looking for a white graduation dress for me. It was quite the challenge to get here from 400 with the lanes splitting at the Lenox-Peachtree intersection, but we finally made our way into the parking deck. We were awed by the quiet (thanks to the sound-deadening insulation). The quiet continues inside the mall itself. I don't think I've ever seen this place "busy." Maybe it's all the high-end stores and the narrower corridors, but it just never feels full. That probably helps with the cleanliness, since it always seems spotless to me. While it is big and has a lot to offer, it's compartmentalized in a way that makes it feel intimate, at least for a mall. It's more upscale than it's across the street neighbor, Lenox. Once, when shopping the clearance at the Gap Body, I heard one sales clerk say to another "You better do it right, or they'll send you to the Lenox store." Others have listed all the stores that they have. I do not know what everyone is raving about. Terrible dining choices. Just another mall. In all my visits to the United States, this was thE first time I have ever walked into a store (I will not mention the name) and was trailed by a store security type person. I am a well-dressed, 60 year old woman and hardly look like a thief - I had no large bags on me and was clearly looking for items. The way I was treated was so insulting to me. And worse than that - not one person asked me if they could assist me in what I was looking for! When I challenged the Manager, she said it was another customer not store security. Please. I was not born yesterday. The person trailing me was not carrying a purse, and clearly worked there. I guess maybe because I'm an out of town person and of course everyone who isn't from that neighborhood must be up to no good. I did NOT get a good overall vibe from this plaza. The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Mall. Also one of the nicest malls I have ever been to! Marble and wood everywhere. Where else will you see Bentley's and Aston Martin's on display in the main concourse? Every store you can think of like Bally, Barney's Co Op, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Nordstrom, Sak's, Versace and much, much more. Phipps doesn't have the crowds that Lenox Square does which to me is a good thing. Bring a black card! read more

This AMC has really stepped up its game since movie theaters like Cinebistro have opened nearby. It now offers big, comfy reclining chairs and the ability to pick your seats ahead of time when you buy tickets. The snack options have also improved with a full bar serving alcohol and regular staple snacks (popcorn, nachos, etc.) but also stuff like Philly cheesesteaks, pizza and other more upscale options. It's not exactly Cinebistro but it's definitely a step up from what it was. I enjoy coming here to take in a show if it's not playing at Cinebistro, and we will definitely come back in the future. Also note, it gets really crowded on weekend nights - especially with Legoland right next door, but matinees are much calmer. read more

I'm a huge fan of Phipps! It's quiet and has lots of ample parking. Plus, I enjoy shopping at many of the hi-end stores here! My favorites: Nordstrom, Barneys Co-op, Sisley and of course Tiffany's (ahem....David...wink, wink!) David recommended that we shop for my new sunglasses at Phipps to avoid the Lenox crowd. Plus, my BFF Joel gave me a $50 Simon gift card that I have been dying to use! We went to the Sunglass Hut on the 2nd floor and I fell in love. I purchased a pair of Mosley Tribes that are a platinum color with blue lenses and of course aviator style. I'll definitely be looking hot while I drive my new jeep! This is a beautiful upscale mall. Both the mall and the shoppers are classier than Lenox across the street. It has more exclusive stores (Georgia-wise) and more boutiques compared to Lenox, even has a few art galleries. The underground parking garage is massive. Strangely one of the three department stores is a Belk, looking very much out of place. As nice as the mall is, it tends to be less fun to stroll around than Lenox unless you know you are buying stuff, mainly because it's usually very deserted and the people walking around in this mall are quieter and aloof therefore less interesting to look at compared to the often over-the-top crowd at Lenox (which is always busy). The restaurants attached to the mall are nice, but more for socializing than serious eating. I would still advice you to choose these over the food court inside the mall as those are bad and overpriced. I like to get the event guides from the Help Desk when I am here. They have many different local publications free for the taking. read more

Very pretty (both the place and the people). I enjoy coming to Phipps, especially when I want to shop. I don't mean just buying things... I mean really SHOP! That includes browsing by myself, being assisted by a salesperson, and buying a few items from several different places. This is currently the pinnacle of Atlanta retail and I appreciate both the caliber of stores here and the attitudes of its shoppers. One of the best malls to shop with the girls in Atlanta. You don't have to worry about being bothered with so many crowds in here. For example, like most average malls in America that are over crowded especially on the weekends. In the past, I use to always come to the cinema here, because I did not care for listening to people talk through a film. Great cinema for date night. They have a few cool restaurants connected to the mall as well for the grown folks. Ideal spot to take your children , if they want to take photos with Santa Clause. i adore this mall, because it has a lot of charm to it. The only reason I go to Phipps Plaza is for the AMC movie theater. This is a very nice mall with a lot of stores that I could not afford to shop at. I find it fun to walk around Phipps and see what some of the higher end stores have to offer. I then laugh at the prices and walk away. The mall isn't very big, so the walk can be a bit short. Parking at Phipps can be a bit painful on the weekend. Most days, there are plenty of parking spots on the lower levels, but the lower levels can feel a bit isolated. Overall 4 stars for being an interesting mall to walk around. read more

This is the least "ghetto" mall in Atlanta. You feel like you're in Beverly Hills when you walk into this lavishly decorated mall. The wide rounded staircases with the thick brown railings and the gold decals on every end are just some of the small details added to enhance the setting. The stores change frequently, so there is no point in mentioning those, although you can bet that they will be high end stores attracting an older, richer crowd. Teeny-boppers don't tend to hang out here unless they are catching a movie. The theater is located on the 3rd floor with the ticket box on the second floor. Parking is either valet (if you can afford that) or deck parking. It's a bit confusing the first time wandering under the mall trying to find a spot, but it's small enough that chances are you won't loose your car in the still open to the outside, well lit parking deck. read more

Phipps Plaza reminds me of what it felt like to go to a mall when I was a little kid. Everything just felt so BIG and FANCY and GROWN UP. Yup, basically not much has changed,as I still feel very out of place roaming the marbled halls of this high-end mall most of the time. However, even though I can only afford to buy maybe a sock in most of the retailers here, this is one of the most relaxing shopping experiences in Atlanta. It's never been crowded when I've been, and each store seems to have the most helpful and complimentary staff. From Saks Fifth Avenue to Nordstrom's, each associate I encountered offered assistance in that always-there-but-not-too-pushy way, striking a perfect balance where most fall short. I've never explored the food court here (and in fact, until I was writing this review and read the others I didn't know they had one), but I love the cafe in Nordstrom's (to-die-for she-crab soup) and I even like the Tavern at Phipps. Overall, Phipps Plaza is not just a mall, it's a shopping experience, and one that I like to repeat. read more

I prefer Phipps Plaza to its neighbor Lenox; it is (albeit) a little pricier, but a lot less busy and much nicer. I am the kind of girl who loves wearing designer clothes, but finding these clothes at the price of something much less name-brand. The best places to find great deals on nice stuff are (1) Saks Fifth Avenue - go down to the contemporary floor where they usually have a long rack of sale clothing that can go down to prices as low as $25! If you are lucky, you can snatch a pair of Seven jeans and a trendy Marc by Marc Jacobs blouse all for around $100! (2) Barney's Co-op - the sales are less than Saks, but they have some nice sales on Marc by Marc Jacobs pieces on the side of the store (I snatched myself a jacket/skirt suit combo from Marc for $150), so be patient and look carefully! So, don't be discouraged! Hidden among the fancy shops and outrageous outer displays are some great deals on clothes that many Upper East Siders in Manhattan will get a month beforehand for triple the price. We stopped here to see this mall so my husband could get a quick bite and found it mostly deserted. It didn't take me long to figure out why. Most of these stores are ultra high end and I had recently seen some of them on New York City's Fifth and Madison Aves. We found a small food court so I went browsing while he grabbed a sandwich. They have a giant Lego land for kids and an AMC multiplex cinema.They do have a restaurant here but since I wasn't hungry didn't take advantage of it. They have their own parking garage which we needed to stay out of the rain. I was stunned that the stores close at 8 pm. I visited a store called Jeffrey's which also had a NY location. I asked where the other location was and was told the meatpacking district. The store was very upscale and I wondered why they would put their main store in NY in that area as opposed to the East side. Still I had friendly customer service and was able to rejoin my husband after that visit. If you like to browse and dream then go here. Otherwise take in a movie at the multiplex or take the kids to see Legoland. read more

I have a long bittersweet history with Phipps Plaza. As a native Atlantan, I grew up going to Lenox, Perimeter and Phipps. When I was about 17 years old, Phipps got a MAJOR update, which is when the marble, fancier stairways and the basic interior you now see was installed. Me and my mom both worked at Lord & Taylor back then and it was a grand old department store with all the old fixtures, an alterations department and REAL customer service. I haunted the beautiful old Caswell-Massey shop with it's amazing fragrances and dark wood paneling. I gazed at the gorgeous Lalique crystal and jewelry in the Ross-Simons store shimmering softly under their spotlights. I bought incredible clothes at the old Bebe when they still carried pieces from France. The intriguing gift-shop The Mole Hole, where I found some of the best jewelry I've ever bought still wear to this day! I loved the Discovery Store, where you could buy nature books, crystals, music, etc. I even remember the opening of Elephant Tea (Teavana, as it was later re-named - now entirely out of business) and those were the days when this mall was worth being in. It had personality then, some truly unique stores and a grand quiet sort of elegance about it. Now, with the loss of almost all their moderately priced stores and moves towards being more commercial and homogenized, the structure is still familiar, but it's far removed from that serene, welcoming sanctuary of a mall that I used to love. No more fun, quirky shops and interesting people. No more Food Court - just an obvious money-grab that shoved Chik-Fil-A, sandwich, pizza places and everything else out so loud, unruly kids can run crazy around a Lego-Park. The last time I tried to see a movie here with my friends, the environment from the Lego-bound people was so obnoxious, we ended up leaving and going to a different movie theater. I used to love seeing movies here! I can't even recall how many times I've been here with my friends and family, so many memories! Funny how the box office to buy the tickets used to be on the 2nd floor and then you'd go up to the 3rd for the movie. Now I see that as a minor inconvenience to dealing with the Lego Brat-Pack! So everyone - yes this place used to be beautiful and a true gem. All the stores I loved are mostly gone. Replaced by things that are pretty much at every mall and nothing that inspires me as it used to. The way things are run now is a huge focus on immediate spending from the customer, instead of creating the kind of environment that makes people want to return again and again. Maybe it's working for them, but judging from the state of many failing malls across the country, I would say the money-grab isn't going so well.
