Had a quick lunch date with my wife and this place is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants we've been to. Everything was made fresh and the food did not take long to come out. You choose your own seating but it seems like the whole staff is there to wait on you. Everyone made sure we had all that we needed and enjoyed our food. We started off with the egg rolls and spring rolls, both were flavorful, light and delicious. For entrees I had the pho number 6 with brisket, rare beef and tendon (could've done without the tendon but I wanted to try something new). I asked for them to substitute the regular pho broth for the Bun Bo Hue broth. It was lighter than I expected but the flavor was still very good. My wife had the lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl but she substituted the noodles for rice; she liked that the vermicelli bowl had more vegetables than the rice bowls. This was also phenomenal. Great char on the chicken and huge portions. Spent a total of $57 before tip, that did include one fountain drink and a Thai tea. We will be back for sure! read more

Family owned. Service was outstanding whenever I am here, all the staff always asks if we need anything every 20 to 30 minutes. Making sure everyone is happy and well fed lol! Sophia and I decided to stay in the Peninsula this Saturday due to weather. It has been years since we ate here so it was time to have some lunch and catch up. We were able to get a booth upon walking in. The crowd was semi-busy which is a good thing. TVs were showing NCAA tournament games and music filled the speakers. One thing we noticed is prices have gone slightly up. Inflation perhaps. Nonetheless, we were hungry and just went with the main course. I selected a large portion of Pho Tai Nam, which consists of round steak and beef brisket. This was pretty good and filled me up, which is the norm every time I order Pho dishes. And as usual, I added some chili oil for spices. Everything was pretty good and tasted well, leaving yours truly with a full stomach. The only true knock I have on the visit is lack of service. We were served with our meals fine, but after we got our bowls they didn't come back to check in on us or see if we needed any refills of water. I've had springrolls countless of time all over the states and this place is one of the worst. The charge is ridiculous for the size made and skim ingredients. They went cheap and used one small shrimp and spilt it in half. Then one tiny finger sized lettuce. There's nothing packed but noodles! It's a really simple and inexpensive appetizer to make. Nice Vietnamese restaurant serving a variety of menu items from salads, pho, banh mi's, noodle and rice dishes! Spring rolls and egg rolls were delicious (pork and shrimp to vegetarian). Pho is delicious, great warming broth that can be customized with their homemade chili oil, sriracha or seasoning sauces. Service is good, although we came in 30 minutes before closing, so the hot tea was bitter and bad. The pho 79 online ordering feature through the website doesn't work. We were able to place the order and pay for it of course, but the restaurant didn't receive the information. Went to pick up the order according to the time on the invoice and the staff were clueless about the order. Had to wait 45 minutes past the originally promised time because the order couldn't be cancelled because "nothing was showing up on their screen." In every Vietnamese restaurant that I've eaten at, I have always ordered the large Pho because the other sizes just don't satisfy. At this restaurant even the small is enough to leave you filled. They are very generous with their portions. They don't just give you a tiny piece of tendon, they give you multiple pieces of tendon. The food is exceptional. read more

The place was very nice looking and the service was quick. The thit nuong was well seasoned and was surprisingly good but the pho definitely wasn't very flavorful. The price was also pretty steep. Pho 83 is significantly cheaper than this. The pho was kinda just like water and did not have all of the meat the menu described. This is the beatPho in VA hands down! I live in northern VA and used to live here in Hampton roads , so when we visit I always come back for some great food! Besides Pho 83, this is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant to go to. Their spring rolls w/ the sauce are amazing, the chicken pho, the shrimp pho, the different steak phos, and of course their meatball pho. I also like their boba tea. The service is quick and the staff are kind too. read more

Who would have thought you could find a pho spot in the middle of nowhere in Newport News? Lots of parking as it is in a large shopping plaza. I was surprised with the pho, the broth was rich and flavorful, 8/10. Bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lemon were fresh. I'd give the spring rolls a 6/10, it's kind of sad how small they were without much filling. You can also ask for a side of sliced onions and put sriracha and hoisin sauce over them with a squeeze of lime and eat it as a side dish with your pho. I took a shot on this place over my normal Pho spot because I was on this side of town delivering something to a friend. I thought, great! It's nearby, I can order on Yelp, and pick up, easy-breezy! Not so much actually. I arrived to discover that although I had checked out and paid with the connection on Yelp, they didn't have my order (or had canceled it out somehow) even though my Paypal account was down a solid $20. After speaking to a couple employees, and showing them my confirmations and payment info, they put my order through. I then waited for a bit to get it, and was surprised when it appeared in less than five minutes. Probably should have been suspicious at that point, but I was just happy to be getting on my way. When I got home, I tried the appetizer (sugarcane popper things), and they were...interesting? Maybe if I'd eaten them right away out of the fryer when they were hot they would have been amazing, but the texture was sort of rubbery and odd, even though the flavor was pretty good. Then my normal order of steak pho -- I was surprised to find that the steak was all already cooked, and WELL done. The place I usually order from serves it in the to-go containers rare so that you can cook it directly in the broth. And then it's all about the broth, right? I wasn't sold on this - it tasted like straight up beef broth from a can without any of the depth of flavor I've come to expect from comfort pho ordering. Overall, pretty disappointing. Definitely not the best Pho in the 757 area by any means, but there's many locations throughout the area and it hits the spot and satisfies a crave every now and then. Came here the other night for dinner just because I didn't wanna make the drive across the water to Chesapeake. Restaurant was pretty much empty at 7pm. A few comfortable booths inside and larger tables for families. I got a regular size bowl with rare brisket, round steak and tendon, as well as, an extra order of tendon! That's pretty much my usual go-to items when I go to a Pho spot...lol Food came very quickly; I think I waited no more than ten minutes for everything. Disappointingly, the broth wasn't hot! H2, you were exactly what I needed!! I felt like I was coming down with a cold so my go to is always some pho or Vietnamese soup, and drop a whole lot of chili's in the broth. Safe to say that once again, it worked, and I'm left with no cold. My friend and I shared a pot of jasmine tea to cleanse our palettes in between mouthfuls of broth/noodles/bean sprouts. I want to say this place is Pho-nomenal, but unfortunately I have to rate otherwise. The Pho is great. The taste is good, and the large is an actual large...not a small + 1 cup of broth and some noodles. I got the P1, my dad got the P8, my mom got the regular pho with no meat, and my brother got a pork chop. It all tasted very good, but more than half my brother's pork chop was bone...which kind of sucked. We've also tried the springrolls and summerrolls, which were also good. I feel like this restaurant is going downhill a little bit. We walked in at about 4:30 and there were only two occupied booths, but the other three were dirty. No one else in the restaurant. My pho was out in a flash which was good because I was running late that day after dropping a package off at the nearby post office. The Pho was good but they gave super little vegetables initially. I had a hankering for pho, and Yelp brought me to this place. Typical pho spot. Very clean and nice waiters. I was told to sit anywhere and the waiter brought me a water very quickly. Looking over the menu, I didn't see where they had just the brisket pho. But I asked and the waiter told me he can make it happen. The pho itself was delicious. I had the best pho ever (in my opinion) in ATL, and this pho came pretty daggon close to that. The broth was savory, I wish I had more of it. Plenty of noodles and the meat was very tender.
