Anyway, I ordered three appetizers, all things that my kids normally love (especially from places like Szechuan Bistro): - Fried Egg Rolls - Crab Rangoon - Fried Dumpling The problem from the outset was that I could tell that the oil used to deep fry the food was clearly not hot enough when the items were dropped in. In all fairness to HCK, I walked in and placed the order right when they opened the doors (we weren't in a rush though, we didn't pressure them to get the stuff to use sooner or anything). But because of the oil not being hot enough, everything was greasy, soggy, and barely hot (temperature wise). The only item of the three that was actually good (in terms of flavor; they were all room temp despite having just come out of the deep fryer) where my kids finished them, was the Fried Dumplings. The Fried Egg Rolls were according to my son, "chopped" which... hold, I have to google this Gen Alpha nonsense, I dunno what it means. Okay, I'm back. "Chopped" means "undesirable." But I understood what he meant because as soon as I bit into it, I made a face. It tasted spoiled. But my tolerance is higher than his for sub-par food, so I ended up eating it anyway. But by far, the worst thing was the Crab Rangoon. I've never had a Crab Rangoon that was equal parts burnt AND undercooked. Somehow, it managed to be hot AND cold, crumbly AND mealy (it was almost like cannoli dough or something?), tough/crunchy on the outer edges AND super soft and soggy in the middle. It is legitimately the worst Crab Rangoon we've ever eaten. Awful in every way.

Every single piece of chicken I had was full of unexpected very hard thick bones - I've never experienced that before or hidden bones that aren't soft from cooking so long. It genuinely felt like I almost broke a tooth. I was really let down. While I was there it was entirely quiet besides the person making the food in the kitchen area. Prices for portions are great - but spending almost $30 for stuff I didn't finish eating or drinking is way too much to not enjoy a meal at least half of it.
