I love Vietnamese food so I was excited to see the number of positive reviews about this restaurant. My daughter and I went to have to dinner at this place and it was packed- a good sign. The place was so full that we decided to order take out. We ordered the clay pot chicken, fried rice, and chicken wings. Given the positive reviews we were expecting a really good meal. While the chicken wings were tasty, the rest of the meal was subpar. Frankly, the food just wasn't good. It was under seasoned and over cooked. Chau is fantastic. She is always willing to help you figure out something that you'd like. I'm vegetarian and want something similar to other dishes, but requires tweaking to make it vegetarian. Consistently delicious! They are the only restaurant that can get tofu right. I order the tofu pad Thai and it's always incredible. Big portions, good prices, and great food. The staff is always super sweet and they know what they're doing. Chau always receives me by name and asks about my mother. Prices are good but sadly the food matches the price. The springrolls were ok, eggrolls were horrible, it was mainly cabbage probably a Chinese eggroll not Vietnamese. The pho was ok, it had a lot of star anise smell. The grilled combination noodle platter looked really good but the sauce totally ruined it! It does not taste like any other rice noodle platters. I also had the catfish clay pot and woah! Fishy and tasted as if the fish came right out of the Mississippi River! Did not taste good like any other clay pots I've had before. I'm not that familiar with Vietnamese food; so this was my first experience. Wow, this food is flavorful. The Pad Thai was tasty.I had some sort of soup made with slices of chicken, pineapple, lemon grass, celery, okra and broth. It was served with a bowl of rice. I wasn't sure how to eat it: mix the rice into the soup or vice-versa. But it was definitely good, with lots of herbal flavors from the cilantro and lemon grass. I had high expectations for this place since everyone I know has loved it. I am Vietnamese myself and I love the dishes at Far East Fusion and Pho Tai so I thought this place was going to be amazing. I was wrong. I ordered the Lotus root/stem salad. There was nothing lotus about it. I got a plate full of pickled carrots, with a few shrimp, a few pieces of mint leaves and a peanut topping. I didn't even eat it! It was disgusting! The spring rolls were good, although you could tell they weren't fresh like they are at Far East Fusion. When I got them they were freezing cold like it just came out of the fridge. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli. The pork definitely was not grilled, it was fried. It had a horrible taste. It barely came with any vegetables other than cut up cucumbers. My boyfriend ordered the broken rice with beef. He ordered extra beef which they advertised would cost an extra $3. If what he got was extra beef... you must only get like 3 small pieces of beef if you don't order extra because he barely got any beef at all! The service was friendly and great but the food so far, not so great. I want to try this place again and hope that they were just having a bad day. read more

My fiancee and I tried Pho Chau for dinner while in town for a Mayo visit. The service is fast and friendly, and the prices are so reasonable. The fresh spring rolls came very quickly, as did our meals. The spring rolls had more fresh herbs than I'm used to, but they were good. The pho with beef and meatballs was flavorful without being overly salty. I had rice vermicelli with chicken, lemongrass, and onions. It was also very good. Some may think it's a little bland, but it comes with a sweet and spicy vinegar sauce, so you can adjust the seasoning. We liked the food so much, we came back for lunch the next day. We both decided to try dishes with rice instead of noodles...it was just okay in comparison. The crab rangoon skin was a little thicker than I like, but the filling was good. We both ordered chicken and vegetable rice dishes. It was basically just very well prepared standard Chinese takeout; just okay. Stick to the Vietnamese/Thai type foods here. Nothing was bad, but that seemed to be their strong suit. We would definitely come back to try more! read more
