But on this visit, I decided to finally switch things up! Instead of my usual pho, I ordered the Cơm, a rice dish, and added pork and egg. Oh. My. GOODNESS. I don't know exactly what they did to that pork, but it genuinely hit the spot. It was cooked so well, packed with flavor, and the portion was more than enough--I even had leftovers to take with me afterward. Service was pretty quick as well, which I always appreciate. I think what made me happiest about this visit was realizing that I've gotten so accustomed to ordering the same thing every time that I've been overlooking everything else on the menu. It was nice discovering that one of my favorite spots has even more delicious options for me to explore, and now I'm curious about what else I've been missing! There's a good amount of seating inside for small to medium-sized groups, and they also offer outdoor seating. Now, in this Georgia heat? I'll personally see y'all inside. But once the weather cools down, it's definitely nice to know the outdoor option is there. Dua was already one of my regular spots, and now they've just given me another reason to keep coming back!

I stood near the bar, where both the bartender and the server handling to-go orders clearly saw me. Unfortunately, at no point did anyone acknowledge me, greet me, or ask if I needed assistance. After waiting, I decided to leave because it became clear that I was not going to be served unless I went out of my way to get someone's attention. Before leaving, I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager on duty. I then asked for the manager's name and was told it was Jen, but again, that no manager was available to assist me. My concern is not only the wait time or lack of service, but also the fact that I could not help but notice what appeared to be a possible racial bias in who was being acknowledged and assisted. I have been going to So Ba for almost 15 years, and this is the first experience I've had like this. I'm not sure if there is new management, if this was simply an off night, or what led to the lack of service, but I left feeling extremely disappointed and unwelcome. I truly hope this is addressed, because long-time customers should not have to wonder whether they are being ignored or treated differently when simply trying to patronize a business.
