This place is from my childhood while living in Decatur, so naturally I wanted to revisit! I ordered Pho Tai, and it was okay. The service was also okay; the server took my order and came by after the meal to take up the dishes. The broth doesn't necessarily taste like pho, but it still retained the lightness of the soup. It was also very salty. The ambiance was very nice. In theory, this would be a great place to have a quiet and relaxing lunch. The prices at this restaurant is actually pretty cheap in comparison to other restaurants I've been to so that is a plus! Overall, I wouldn't come here again for pho. I haven't tried any of their other dishes, so I can't speak on that, but if you want pho, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Service was fine. We were seated right away, and there were no issues. Ambiance is peaceful with soft music playing in the background. Definitely a good place to eat for a peaceful lunch! However, I wouldn't necessarily be fiending to come back. I find that the satay chicken skewers, while fresh, were really dry, but that just comes with the nature of chargrilling chicken breasts. I think thighs would've been a better option. As for the pho, I got the pho tai, and the broth was more salty rather than beefy. The beef flavor was very subtle, so I mostly just tasted more salt than anything. I added sriacha and hoison into the pho more than I usually do to compensate for the lack of beef flavor. I will say though, this place is very reasonably priced. I got a medium bowl (~$13), and this could've easily been passed for a large in other places. read more

Came for lunch on a weekday. It wasn't too busy but the parking lot definitely was! We got seated fairly quickly and we kind of already knew what we wanted so we ordered right away. I got the nem nuong rolls and a small pho. The food came out fairly quickly. The rolls were really thick but honestly a little too much vermicelli and the pork wasn't very flavorful. The pho was decent but definitely not a lot of beef balls in it and the broth was on the sweeter side. We were never checked up on during our whole dining experience. So the service was lacking in my opinion. Thought the pho was decent but definitely better options out there. read more

Wow! This restaurant offers a wide range of scrumptious Asian foods. The menu is expansive and features Vietnamese, Thai and other Southeast Asian dishes. We stopped in as a group of three. All of us tried variants of Pho --- all excellent. We also tried fresh Spring and Fried rolls --- very tasty. This is first Vietnamese restaurant I've ever visited that does not skimp on the slices of fresh beef in Pho. All the ingredients are remarkably fresh and tasty. If you visit in the winter months and get cold easily, sit in the booths. During our visit, overhead air ducts were pushing out cold air on the chairs and tables situated in the center of the restaurant and it became uncomfortable for us after sitting for more than 30 minutes. Go and enjoy. You won't be disappointed. The food here is excellent. I wish this place was near our home! read more

I'm sad to say that I did not enjoy my pho experience here, but I heard from a friend that the location in Duluth is much better. I chose to make my own pho. I like how there are different sizes. To be honest, I should've ordered an XL and shared with a friend. The portion for a medium was huge, and I still packed some noodles and soup as leftovers. The soup flavor was a miss; it wasn't flavorful or rich. I tried the gui coan, which was kind of small. I think the skin texture was off compared to what I'm used to like thinner? There wasn't anyone else there when I went. There's a bunch of booths and tables, so I don't think you'd have a problem with waiting to eat. I saw on Yelp that here had a 50% off drink, but this store said they could not honor it, I think maybe she said it was for to go only or during certain hours which was not stated on the yelp thing. read more

The Tom Kha is AMAZING. This place is everything, especially on a cold day. It is clean and fairly spacious with high ceilings and plenty of booths. The staff are such sweet people, and I think we met the owner. The food comes out VERY fast (a little faster than most dining services but not in an off-putting way), and it does not disappoint. Try to pan-fried dumplings if you're stumped about what to order first, because there are a LOT of menu options. The business is located in a shopping center with a very large lot, so parking wasn't an issue at all. We'll definitely be back. read more

We were in the area and decided to drop by Saigon Cafe for a quick lunch. I ordered a Pad Thai Noodle and a Mango Smoothie with Lychee Coconut Jelly. Service was quick and our waiter was friendly. The Smoothie tasted decent but not entirely like a smoothie. I would've preferred the noodles in the Pad Thai to be slightly firmer and the overall dish to be spicer. My partner tried the Pho Dac Biet and he said it was flavorful, but nothing too special about the dish. read more

The portion was huge and I would probably go back because it wasn't bad and it was convenient. Dear lord in heaven! This little place ticks all the boxes! Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese! The hubby and I both had Thai dishes which were outstanding! Huge portions, great flavors, and extremely kind and courteous service! And the cherry on top? Immaculately clean! Another Atlanta hidden treasure. This has to be in my opinion the best pho in Atlanta. Tucked in a little strip you step into plenty of open seating but there is always someone up front to greet and seat you. Menu has plenty of choices of ready to go pho or build your own bowls. If you are paralyzed on decision making you cannot go wrong with the ready to go bowls. But you are eating pho! Be adventurous! You can always add extra meat to any bowl, prices are listed separately. Food comes out piping hot and I never leave unsatisfied. And for the amount of food for the price it's the best value in Atlanta by far. And if you know you know. Highly recommended. read more

Amazing food all around! The crab ragoons are the classic shape puffed and crisp and perfect amount of filling. The pho broth is somewhat basic but once you add the herbs and veggies and sauce amounts you want it is one the best most popping phos I have had and love that they sent the thin steak raw so you still get the experience of it all. The orange chicken was overall zested up and had a good amount of veggies. The fried rice is somewhat basic but alas. Finally there's the low mein which straight up slapped me silly and was the best low mein I think I have state side, and trust I eat way too much Chinese food!! You can't go wrong going here or ordering takeout or delivery you will be shook by it!! read more

Nice little place to grab pho. This has been a longtime favorite for my family & I for years.! Went last Friday evening & it was pretty slow. Seated right away. Service was very fast & efficient. Parking is plenty, as it is located in a small plaza area. We ordered two bubble teas , spring rolls, pad thai( to share) & crab/cream cheese bites.! Food was great.! Should have known when we walked in and only two tables were occupied at seven pm. Our party of four had four different entrees as well as spring rolls for appetizers. If you like nothing but lettuce in a spring rolls wrapper you'll love theirs. The different dishes we were served were loaded with sugar, the rice noodles in my pad Thai must have been stewing for hours to be that mushy, and any semblance of the typical spices were missing -- bland, bland, bland except for the overpowering sweetness. And they guessed my pet peeves of serving the entrées before we could take two bites of our appetizers and then, not serving all the table guests at the same time or reasonably close. Just had a pretty good meal here. Bourbon chicken with Saigon fried rice. The chicken was a bit sweet for me, but it was still good. It's definitely not as oily as the mall food court variety. The Saigon rice was nothing special but it went well with the chicken. It typically comes with jasmine rice but I wanted fried rice. But actually, since the bourbon sauce was so sweet, it might've been better with plain jasmine. The menu has Vietnamese and Thai dishes, so there's plenty to choose from. Located in a small shopping center with abundant parking. The service was poor. My waiter incorrectly gave me the wrong size bowl of pho. He gave me a tiny bowl of pho even though I told him I wanted an x large.... He did not want to fix it. The pho doesn't have pho flavors like cardomum, ginger, and cinnamon spices. I don't taste it. This place is near my job and this is my 2nd time trying this place and because my 1st experience I took my lunch to go and the food was delicious... I decided to dine in for lunch my 2nd go round. Once again awesome experience. Everyone was seated spread out for social distancing. I get an hour lunch but I must say my food came out fast and it was steaming! I ordered shrimp and veggies with a spring roll it's on their lunch menu. I also ordered a chocolate bubble tea and it was so good! The food is fresh and flavorful And I am met with a smile each time I place a pickup order. The big knock on this place is that they have such a small menu. Often times I want banh mi, or something more lunch oriented, and they just do not accommodate. The second thing I don't like is the price. They are very expensive for the quantities provided. Do you Chow Fun?!? Chow Fun is a wide noodle that you don't see very often on menus around town. It happens to be one of my favorite noodle though. These noodles are very wide like 2 inches and they have tossed them in a light sauce that coated the noodles perfectly without drowning them. The veggies included were fresh and crisp, not overly cooked and not frozen either. Overall I was very excited to find this hidden gem of a meal so close to my home. read more

Ordered pickup on a Saturday afternoon. Spicy Basil with shrimp was 80% onions and scallions. I could understand if we ordered off the lunch menu, but that isn't available on weekends so I paid the entree price and feel like I got the lunch version with less protein so they could save money. If I wanted onions for lunch, I would have cut one up and panfried it in some butter and called it a day. read more

I looked up the restaurants in the area after u was done with an appointment. I saw this menu and had to go. I felt that it was a quiet, quaint spot. I had to wait outside a few minutes before they opened but it was worth it. I had the small Thom kha soup with the stir fry Thai Kung pao shrimp. Usually it comes with soup and rice , the waiter said "because of Covid" they can't give the soup with the lunch specials anymore. Though the food was good, I just feel like a lot of businesses are using Covid as a "pay for more , be happy for less" type thing. It's becoming more and more common. I absolutely love Saigon Cafe !!! I always order the Shrimp Pho with chicken broth and Shrimp Fried Rice. The pho is always very hot and fresh and same goes for the Shrimp fried rice. The "cheese puffs", which basically is wonton, is very tasty as well. It comes with a pineapple sauce that is very good. def worth a try !!! Amongst all the Pho restaurants I've tried, I'll have to admit Saigon is my favorite. I'd most definitely recommend it to everyone !!! Very nice ambiance inside. The customer service is great as well, all the servers are always very attentive to their customers. The restaurant is located in a plaza, so parking is plentiful !! The food was yummy. I got the Pho with lean beef. The broth was flavorful and didn't need to be messed with. The noodles seemed to have been cooked a bit too long before being added or put into the broth too early as they were a bit soggy when it arrived at the table. Other than that my only complaint was feeling very rushed by the 2 servers even though it was mid day and we were one of two tables there. My friends and I would all go back though! read more

I stopped here after class for dinner because I was starving and too lazy to cook. I got spring rolls and pho to go. The spring rolls came with two and the portion for the pho was big, I was able to have three meals. The one thing about the pho to go is everything is separate. The soup is super hot and in a plastic container and all the add ins are in another container. I didn't use everything the first meal, so I didn't notice the beef was under the veggies and had blood on it. Probably a good idea to use up all the raw meat first so it doesn't go bad. Surprised after all the times I've been here I never wrote a review. As an Emory student I must come here at least 4 times a semester. It's one of the most dependable restaurants in the area for Asian food - Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese inspired dishes. They also offer good bubble tea. The most popular dish for my friends and I is the pho, which is also VERY affordable, offering several types of pho depending on your preferences of meat. Saigon Cafe is my choice for Vietnamese food when I don't want to go to BuHi. They are close to home and what I order is tasty and satisfies. They are located in a shopping plaza at the intersection of Clairmont Road and North Decatur Road. Which one you ask? (There are 4 plazas at the intersection lol). It would be the one with the Jiffy Lube at the corner. There is ample parking available which is nice. I have dined it and ordered take out several times. The service has always been great. The staff is quite friendly which I appreciate. Now when it comes to the food I tend to order the same thing. I'm sure the other dishes are good but my order is usually a couple of appetizers and then pho or bun. I always enjoy what I order. It is always tasty and fresh. When ordering takeout, they package everything very well and the portions are great for the price. I really do like having this as an option in North Decatur and will continue to dine here. There are currently eight Saigon Cafe restaurants in metro Atlanta, but only two are ITP, this one and the one in "Buckhead" (may be closer to Midtown than Buckhead). I've been to the two ITP locations and the one in Duluth. This Saigon Cafe can be found in a strip mall at the intersection of Clairmont and N. Decatur. Because of its proximity to Emory, the restaurant sees many students. Inside, the walls are decorated with large photographs of several dishes. There's a mix of booths and tables of various sizes, along with faux bamboo and coconut palm trees. Some of the trees here are decorated with bubble tea straws. This is a casual restaurant and all of the dishes are affordably priced with most entrees under $10 each. While their specialty is Vietnamese, Saigon Cafe also heavily advertises and serves many Thai dishes at this location. Examples include pad Thai and chicken satay (Thai chicken on skewers). The menu offers a little bit of everything as far as Vietnamese and Thai cuisine go: spring rolls, rice plates (com), vermicelli rice plates (bun), Vietnamese noodle soup (pho), and bubble tea. My friend and I both ordered the pho dac biet, which is pho with everything (meatballs, flank, tendon, etc.). They offer only two sizes of pho here: medium ($6.50) and extra large ($7.50). That's funny. They skip large and go straight to the extra large. For only $1.00 extra, they want you to buy it. We were hungry, so we each ordered an extra large. The two of us being pho lovers, we were both disappointed in the pho served here. The sides (bean sprouts, basil, and culantro) served with the bowls were not fresh. The bean sprouts were cold, dull in color, and soggy. The basil and culantro were also soggy and some of the leaves were black. Yikes. They also served us slices of lemon instead of lime. That's sort of a pet peeve of mine at pho restaurants. This is the first one in Atlanta I've visited that served lemon instead of lime with their pho. The bowl of pho itself was okay, having the right proportion of meat, noodles, and broth. Unfortunately, it was bland. Towards the end of my meal, I actually did not enjoy finishing the bowl. That never happens. And (!), I was still hungry afterwards. Extra large bowls at other places usually fill me up. At first, I suspected our servers might be Thai, but they're Vietnamese. The ones who attended to us provided great service. You can dine in or take out. While eating, I saw about 10 different people come in for takeout on a Wednesday night. Two days ago I dined here after doing some grocery shopping at the DeKalb farmers market in North Decatur. Before that, it was at least a year before I ate here, so I decided to come back and try something different. I have been here probably about 5 times in the past with friends and family and always have been a fan of their milk teas. [Parking] Saigon Café is located in the North Decatur shopping centre and has plenty of regular parking and handicap parking spaces, it is right between Camera Doctor and Choco Late Coffee. [Inside] The interior is very nice, the theme is warm bamboo and wood grain, with a few bamboo baskets hanging off the wall and they have an artificial palm tree displaced inside with coconuts hanging off of it. Outside they have a cute little patio which sits three couples. [Prices] The prices are reasonable. Appetizers prices average from 3.25 to 3.95, with two being slightly more at 4.25 and 5.25. Soaps average 6.95. Stir fries, noodle salads and combo plates average under 10 and pho is 6.95 for small, 7.95 for medium, 9.95 for x-large and pho Togo is 8.95, large? [Food] During this visit I had their Tom kha kai, which is Thailand cuisine, not Vietnamese, but I decided to try it anyway as this place is a fusion of both Vietnamese and Thai. Their Tom kha kai here is fairly decent, but it did not taste as authentic as it should, so for Tom kha kai one might want to stick with a strictly Thai restaurant, however if you are not too picky, most cannot taste the difference. I visit a local Thai restaurant that is family owned and their Tom Kai is amazing, so maybe I am just too accustom to that version instead of the one here. For my entree I had their broccoli and chicken stir fry with carrots, mushrooms and baby corn. The serving size was plentiful and it was very good, just the gravy was a tad bit too salty. [Drink] This visit I really wanted to have a milk tea, but they were out, so I had their black tea with lychee. To be completely honest, it was extremely sweat and I ended up only drinking half of it. It seemed like whoever made it might have just poured half of the can of lychee's that come canned in heavy sugar syrup into the cup, as it was way too sweet. If they do not have the regular milk tea with tapioca, don't get lychee jelly. Luckily with the Yelp app they offer a free drink. [Service] My server was friendly and did a great job, just wish he did not assume that I did not want chop sticks as he only provided me with regular silverware, so I had to ask for chop sticks, after all I am part Azn (Eurasian). [Conclusion] If you are a student at Emory or live nearby, they have a lot of great options to offer for guests. Would I drive 30 minutes to eat here?
