We found this restaurant using Yelp. While it had mixed reviews most were good reviews. This was our first visit to a Vietnamese restaurant since since We visited the one in Visalia. The food here exceeded all our expectations. The Pho was prepared exactly as it should have been. The service was excellent. The food arrived quickly and was steaming hot. I initially wrote a 3 star review for this place, based on my first visit which was less than great. I wasn't planning on returning to this place any longer, but my parents discovered it on their own and have really grown fond of it, so they invite me to join them every now and then. Unfortunately, the service here is still pretty hit or miss, so they could use some improvement on that front. The food, however, is always delicious. I almost always order the beef pho, because it's filling, flavorful, and I almost always leave enough to take home for a late night snack. My parents really enjoy both the fresh and the fried spring rolls. The fried ones and served with lettuce leaves that you use to wrap the rolls in and top off with the sauce that they bring out. Those are a definite must! Like I mentioned above, the service could use some work, and the ambience is missing something too. I'm looking forward to seeing this place improve, and will return every time I visit Mission. read more

Slow service, attributed to us ordering the summer roll. A summer/spring roll is not hard to make, so that doesn't seem like a valid excuse. Two parties that came after us received their food before us. It seemed that summer rolls are notoriously slow to make, but we didn't get any warning about this when we ordered it, so we waited almost an hour for our food. Customers: either order it ahead of time before arriving or just don't order it. Managers: don't offer it if you don't want to make it. We also ordered the curried fried rice with the "combination" of tofu plus vegetables (it costs $4 extra to "combine" choices of toppings). Firstly, it was just normal fried rice, nothing particularly "curry" about it. The "extra" vegetable toppings were almost nonexistent - only a few broccoli and cauliflower pieces. Not very nutritious with so little vegetables. The rice dish also came with some scrambled egg, which was not listed in the ingredients on the menu so we didn't think to ask about it. I went to this restaurant because it was recommended from friends for great Pho. Well there was little cockroaches crawling on the counter, and the waiter kept grabbing them with a napkin, but worst of all there was a baby roach in my friends Pho. He quietly told the waiter, and the waiter said the exact thing happend to his friend the other day. Don't get me wrong, the Pho was delicious but it sucked seeing the baby roaches crawling and to see one in my friends Pho. read more

I recently moved from Miami and was in desperate need to find Pho. This is an hour drive for me but I will do it again. Service was ok. My waiter was pleasant, but he kept having to apologizing for the wait, saying they were out of plates. It took longer to eat than I would have hoped, considering I'd been a car for an hour. As for the food, it was excellent. I ordered summer rolls and the Pho Bac Biet. The ingredients fresh and tasted great. I will say the price is on the high side. I spent $20, including tip, on my meal (I dined alone), back home I would have paid half that amount. All in all I will return to get my pho fix. read more

Shrimp and chicken summer rolls were excellent with the contrast of flavors from the basil and peanut sauce. The BBQ beef vermicelli was tasty, beef was marinated well and the salad/basil under the vermicelli had a nice crunch. Definitely will GO AGAIN read more

Pho jere was okay, noodle were not that good. The broth really didn't have much flavor.

Serving is okay but the serving time is not. You have to spend about 20-30mins just to eat what you like. The Pho is too greasy and I don't like the flavor or taste of the soup. There's something in it that I don't like. Maybe too much oil or herbs? I don't know. It's different from where my husband and I used to eat Pho in California. I don't remember the name of the place but their Pho was really great. We went in last week and was so disappointed. We wanted to eat a lot cause we were both sick but ended up throwing it at home cause we didn't like it. Sorry. read more

Horrible customer service. I went with my family to enjoy a nice meal and it took the waitress 10 minutes before she even acknowledged us. We sat down at the only booth open and they told us to get off because that booth is for 5 or more adults. I guess 4 adults and a baby, with an hour before closing does not count. We decided to give this place a try after reading all the great reviews.. We went in for dinner today, after about 2 mins we where approached by the hostess/waitress our drink order was taken quickly.. After looking at the menu for like 3 mins the lady again approached us and asked to take our order.. Every question was answered with a snarky remark and the look of frustration on her face made us quickly pick a dish... The only positive thing is the meal was brought out quickly.. we ordered the Pad Thai with pork and the BBQ beef with steamed rice.. The Pad Thai was not impressive one bit the noodles where over cooked and lumpy and swimming in curry/peanut sauce... the beef was chewy and sweet!! Aside from The waitress never coming back to our table she kept spilling items on the ground while doing her rounds... Not sure if she was frustrated or what but there where only two other couples in the dining room, not to mention the couple who walked out because they felt her frustration while ordering... After asking for the check she dropped our fortune cookies on the ground while bringing us the tab, she just picked them up and gave them to us anyway!!! Lol.. we decided to pack the leftovers but instead of eating them gave them to some hungry dogs!! Pho Le Lai was a complete disappoint from the food to the service!!! read more

Located on 495 near Shary rd. this was closer to me than le lai restaurant on 10th st. The food is great here. I like the pork BBQ plate, I would have given it five stars if it weren't for the price of the small BBQ plate for almost $10. It's a small restaurant and the staff is really quick and attentive. Parking here in the rio grande valley usually isn't an issue. Maybe if priced a little better this would easily by a 5 star restaurant ok sharyland area. read more

We are from California so when we came to visit my parents here in the Rio Grande Valley area we missed the diversity of food, especially Vietnamese food. We happened to have been in Mcallen and looked up Asian food on yelp and to my surprise Pho Le Lai had great reviews. We drove over there and were very surprised to have found excellent food, even better than California's. Both times we've been here, it has been almost a full restaurant and only one waitress in the evening and one waiter during lunch but it was worth the wait. Just one suggestion, " Please wash your lettuce. " My mother ordered a dish that has a large piece of lettuce under the actual food which had visible dirt on it. Hoping the rest of the vegetables are washed. read more

Everything at the small humble restaurant is incredible. The spring rolls were packed full of vegetables and the peanut sauce with them was so good I put it on everything! I loved The pho too. I've been eating and trying new Vietnamese places for over 20 years, from Houston, Austin, The RGV, etc. Pho Le Lai is good, one of the best places I've been to. The service is a bit slow and kinda rude. I drive from Pharr (20 mins) just to have their Bun. I also STRONGLY recommend .... Saigon Cafe & Sandwich, EXPECT rude service but man, is the food WORTH IT!!!! read more
