Delicious pho and spring rolls. The only annoying thing about this place is the rushed atmosphere. I've been here probably 30+ times so they remember me. I have learned that in order to get what I want in seating I have to be firm with them. They were determined to sit my party of three and I at the table by the door in February and I said no. They seemed frustrated and kept trying to usher us over there but I refused to sit at that table. They then had us sit at a small table for two and brought us a third chair, but at least this one was away from the door. Once again, the food is very very good. But expect them to be pushy and to try and rush you. Personally, I always take as much time as I would like and they will just have to deal with it, especially for $12 per bowl of pho. read more

I have been to Pho Vietnam twice now. Both times were around lunch time on a week day. I understand that it's a busy time of the day, but the service is SO RUSHED. As soon as you walk in the door they pounce on you and are at your table wanting an order before you have even had a chance to look at the menu. The food is also sub par. I had the Tom Ka soup and my boyfriend had the yellow curry. The curry was alright, could have been a little more spicy but the flavor was nice. The Tom Ka soup was the worst I have ever had. There were huge chucks of this very salty paste all in the soup. I have had Tom Ka soup at various places throughout the country and never experienced that before. All in all, I would say avoid this place and go to Pho Leno on Spenard. read more

I am literally obsessed with this place. I would go there every day of my life if I could. The Pho is AMAZING and perfect. The service is really fast, and the food is cheap! I go there, sit down, order a bowl of Pho, and get it in like 3 minutes! And for only 10 bucks! Also, they have DELICIOUS spring rolls and their other food (like the pad thai and stirfries) are also awesome. Good food but bad service. We didn't get 2 things from our order but they were on our check. Also, I asked if my dish could be made vegetarian, but without telling me they charged for extra egg rolls they used but that I didn't ask for. I just said "no shrimp please," and instead of them saying that it would cost $6.50 more for them to remove the shrimp and add extra veg eggrolls, they charged me an extra $6.50 on a dish that was already $12. When I complained, they said, "Well, you ate it, right?" Um, that's not the point. I wouldn't have ordered that dish had I known it would cost $6.50 more than the menu price. We were able to adjust the bill and didn't have to pay for the extra egg rolls or 2 items that never came, but they were contentious. I had read great food reviews here about this place, and the other Vietnam place in town that I'd always gone to before was really good plus had great service/atmosphere/decor, so I tried this on a lark. This place was packed. While we were sitting in the waiting area a server came up and asked us for our order which was weird. A friends pho came out first. I didn't get a chance to try the pho, but a friend ordered a banh mi and I ordered the banh xeo. The banh mi came out about 5 minutes after the pho. By the time they were almost finished eating my banh xeo came out and it was so soggy and so gross. read more

So today I walked in with my children to grab a to-go order, soon as I walk in the man at the register came up to us at the door and we weren't even inside yet and asked how many seats I said I had a to-go order and he puts a menu down on one of the tables, I went to the register to where he was at and said I had ordered allready,and then I tell him I wanted to add something else to my order I said can I get a side of fried rice and he said no, so I said can I get steamed rice and he said how many and I said two and paid him and he answers a phone call and goes to the kitchen and brings a box out and places it in a bag. I had thought it was mine because I was allready at the register and had paid and I thought he forgot to add my other box of rice I was just waiting for him to get off the phone to address it, so I reached to grab the bag and he slaps my hand in front of my children and walks back to the kitchen and grabs two more boxes and put them in the bag that was my order and didn't say anything, so I told him don't ever touch me again and he just nodded his head and we left. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. Not only did he disrespect me in front of my children but he embarrassed me. He could've communicated better and treated me like a customer, I felt looked down on, hurt , and discriminated against because I am a young black female. read more

This used to be my group of friend's Sunday night dinner spot. We ended up going less and less because service got worse. The quality of food also went down with it. My brother ordered garlic beef and it was way too salty. I had the vermicelli and the chicken had a funny/old taste to it. A few times that my brothers and I went here, we've just gotten the worst service. Not only were we hurried to order, and the price high, but when it was time for us to pay, I handed my debit card to my younger brother and I heard the older lady say "oh you're using credit card? No money huh?" ... Like wtf?! Who says that? I was so disappointed that I did not leave a tip and I knew that this will be the last time I will come back here. And for those saying that this place is good, I heard that they use a lot of MSG on their food, I sure hope not. But you can be the judge. read more

Pretty decent experience and food. I would say that the pho dishes are a little pricey for what they are. This place is always packed, but they almost always can squeeze you in some where. This place is quick, fast and delicious. I always get the rare steak pho and all pho places and sometimes we get the fried egg rolls too. They serve the egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce instead of the mild fish sauce you get at some other pho places. This is very solid and our pho go-to place. We have been here at least 3 times in the past few months. It's just good, fast pho... Nothing fancy or excess. The staff is friendly and efficient. My boyfriend got Pho Seafood and loved it. I got the Chicken Pad Thai and was disappointed. It was edible for sure but it was very bland. I love Tom Ka Soup. Next to Thai Orchid over on Dimond, this place has the best Tom Ka in Anchorage. Yellow Curry looks good, but trying that next time. Shakes are also a nice treat. Avocado and banana are both deliciousness. Peanut sauce is smooth style (not chunky) and probably has a secondary base of hoisin sauce. I love it. Fresh rolls are just that, fresh. The Pho here is tastier than Pho Saigon but not better than Phonatik. I really like the ribeye steak. It comes with steamed rice topped with fried egg. They also marinated the steak very well. Very quick service, I could tell from interactions between the servers and several groups that this is a favorite spot for many. The beef pho I ordered came in a large bowl and there are several options for fresh toppings that come complimentary, and they don't hold back on these either. My dining partner ordered the fresh spring rolls and they were pretty good. He somehow didn't realize they had shrimp. I'm unsure if the menu mentioned it and he missed that, but he removed them (picky eater) and all was well. Thai iced tea was delicious as well! This is a nice place to enjoy a quick, casual meal and have a little left over to take home. Worth the price IMO. read more

WITHOUT A DOUBT, BY FAR THE ***WORST** TASTING PHO I'VE EVER HAD ANYWHERE. Although I have not been here since 2012, I just started really using yelp. My bad memory of this place is permanently burned in my mind. I assured myself that one day i would write a negative review so here it is. No Pho that I've ever had before even comes close to how terrible this was. I would give this place a zero if I could. So far I have been to somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 different Pho places around the country. Have I made it from scratch? Yes. Am I a Pho "expert"? No. But I know terrible Pho when I have it. To me it tasted like it came straight out of a package and not even remotely authentic. HORRIBLE. The only reason I went was because of the number of positive reviews. Did I: (1) just ironically have a terrible batch of Pho here?, and/or (2) coincidentally eat at more than nearly 30 better Pho places?; Or, were the yelpers that gave positive reviews paid off or what?????
