I wanted a blunt bob, which involved taking off 6 inches (super scary!) and fresh highlights. She did exactly what I wanted and the color was perfect. Cut off 6 to 7 inches of hair with Daryl. He certainly took his time and was very pleasant to talk to during our time together. $65 for a cut is not cheap, but not the most I've paid, so I will give him another shot. He listened but was a bit hesitant since we were just getting to know each other. New haircut is a big change, so I wanted something beautiful and amazing that people would say wow! I had read previous reviews from others on Yelp that Kellye and Kerri were good with color and cuts. I had moved here from out of state and have not found anyone that I trust enough to go to yet. I called on a Saturday morning at about 11:45 AM and explained to Ashley what type of hair I have, what I'm looking for in a hairstylist. She was very sweet and very helpful. I had explained to her that I heard good reviews about Kellye and Kerri and that I was looking for someone who is good with both cut and color. LUCKILY, Kerri's appointment had just cancelled and I was able to get in within the hour! Amazing! I absolutely love what Kerri did to my hair. I got a haircut with lots of layers. I have very thick Asian textured hair and she managed it with ease. We did a consultation on hair color for my future visits. She sounds confident that she can do a good job, and that is exactly what I need in a hairstylist! She also gave me helpful tips! One GREAT thing about this salon is that they open until 9 on 2 nights out of the week and I actually work near there and don't get off until 7 PM. I love the flexibility with the hours, because my commute home is about 30 minutes and this salon is on the way home, so it works out perfectly! read more

I have just moved to Dallas from Tennessee and along with me came a 911 hair emergency!! Over Halloween my friend and I decided I should become a red head... sounded like a good idea at the time. It looked awesome for about 5 days and then began to fade into a red-purple-pink-blonde-over processed mess. Not knowing who to call in a new town, I turned to Yelp and PURE came up with great reviews. I called the original salon first and they were booked solid but referred me to their new branch in Valley Ranch. I called at 10 am on Saturday morning and they worked me right in at 12:45 pm. The staff was very friendly, they even offered me a drink when I first arrived. My hero and reason I am no longer hiding my face in this fabulous city is Alyssa Matta. She carefully looked my hair over and formulated a game plan. I was a little nervous not knowing anything about her but I figured she couldn't make it any worse. She then informed me we would have to go with a dark brown to cover the six different shades in my hair. I have an Irish complexion, fair, rosy, and green eyed and have never been that dark before. She assured me that it would be beautiful and was super sweet, giving me great ideas of places to visit in town. After a couple of hours it was finally time to face the music. It was and still is amazing! Its super shiny, dark but just right for my complexion, and she gave me a great cut too. I have had so many complements over the past couple of days. She was extremely courteous and professional. She listen to what I wanted and she walked me through the process to ensure there were no suprises. Kind of expensive compared to a Mall cut, anyway (so inquire about the less experienced stylists, they charge less), and the place seems to change hands every few years but it's been good since every new owner does something awesome with the decor. They use Aveda products and since I'm a paraben free and an enviro-Conscious kind of Gal that earns some stars. Also, the free hand treatments and neck rub are welcome. And since it's clean, I get free drinks, pleasant conversation, and I've never gotten a bad cut there...I feel I have no right to remove any of their stars. read more

I have really great luck with Pure Salon. I moved here 3 years ago, and bounced from place to place until finding Pure. The staff is very friendly, and always make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. Sanya is my stylist, and I love the job she does! I always get a color with highlights, and she does a fabulous job keeping the color just right! We've tried several different styles with the cuts, and I love how well Sanya listens to what I want to do, and then nails the style everytime! They use Aveda products, which are great for the health of my hair. The best part of each appointment is the hand massage you get when they wash your hair. So relaxing! I went to Kinsey for the first time yesterday and she did an amazing job. I went in for a balayage appointment and showed her several pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like. I'm a travel nurse so I always have to make the big decision of who will I trust my hair with this time. I randomly chose pure salon. They were very friendly and helpful when I called. I was set up with Kinsey on a day and time that worked well for me. I arrived to the salon (of course nervous because it's my hair) and was greeted immediately by a friendly face. Kinsey was great! I wanted something different, showed her some pictures and after answering her questions I ended up with hair I love! Haven't been this happy in a long time! Worse place ever to get your haircut. Kelly ruined my hair by not doing what I wanted. I went back to get it fixed because she totally messed it up and she made it worse. No sorry or anything. On top of that, the front desk lady Lauren will tell you who is good and who isn't? What kind of service is that? I left a message to the owner to call be back because of my experience and how Kelly didn't do my hair how I showed her on a picture-wasn't hard! I am still waiting on that call. Good atmosphere, great value! I often feel uncomfortable at hair salons because while I like a stylish cut, I'm pretty low maintenance and the try-hard elite feel and gushy environments of many high-end salons stresses me out. After a few negative experiences in the area, I tried Pure. Lindsey was my stylist, and she did a FANTASTIC job converting my vague suggestions into a style that fits my maintenance needs and personality! It's also a really great value for the price - $20 or $30 less than other salons that offer roughly the same quality. Plus, it comes with a free (brief) hand massage and hot towel treatment, so what's not to love? :) I've already been three or four times and I think I've finally found my salon "home"! read more

I have probably gone to 5 different stylist in the last year since I've never really been completely satisfied with a cut. After seeing these yelp reviews I decided to try out Kerri. I have thick asian hair that's hard to cut so I usually test out a stylist by seeing if they can find my problem area without me telling them. She ran her fingers through my hair and found the problem right away (most stylist fail this test, my hair is kinda tricky). My bangs have been a source of misery for me for awhile now but Kerri was able to fix that problem too. Kerri knew I was apprehensive (picky) due to bad haircuts in the past, so she let me know everything she was doing before doing it, just to make sure we were on the same page. The other thing I liked about her was all her trendy hairstyles she's had (she had pictures around) herself. I'm not very adventurous with my hair but If I ever did want a big change I'd trust Kerri. And she's only done my hair once! Best haircut ever!! (for reference, I have asian hair that's super thick in some sections; bangs are side-swept but I have a weird natural part that makes my bangs difficult to style) read more

I decided to go to Pure Salon after reading the reviews on this site. I have been growing my hair for over 2 years....starting at a pixie cut....so I didn't want just "anyone" messing with my hair. I scheduled an appointment with Daryl. To start with, he gave me a scalp, neck & shoulder massage.....followed by a hair wash and hand massage. It was a very sad moment when he stopped :( It was very relaxing and stress-relieving. He cut and styled my hair. He took very little off, and knew exactly WHAT to take off. He was training a new hairdresser that day.....and I got to hear all of his "tips" and "tricks" that he was teaching her. His experience and knowledge are evident....and he takes extreme pride in his work. I got an appointment with Kara for my daughter's hair at Pure Salon. It seemed like the staff was waiting for us as we arrived. Very friendly and courteous in a relaxed atmosphere. I have no idea what the Ombre' / balayage style is my daughter wanted to get so I of course had to rely on the expertise of Kara. Watching Kara work, was like watching a artist intricately detail color and perfectly sculpt a masterpiece. My daughter was thrilled with the final "reveal" and I have achieved rock star dad status. I'm basing my review on my 6 visits to Pure Salon. Prior to going to Pure I went to the same hairdresser for over 20 years. She used Schwartkopf products on me and I decided that I wanted to find a healthier chemical free product. I was getting welts on my scalp from the ammonia. My hair was healthy, shiny and in great shape. I learned about Aveda salons so I was excited about switching over. I had 2 visits with Taylor (who is no longer there. She moved) and she was great. And I had 2 visits with Alicia and she was fantastic! She listened, she was attentive to what I was wanting, and communicated well. She got my hair in better shape than it already was and I loved the high/low lights. Best hairdresser ever! But unfortunately, she is no longer with the salon as well. A big loss for the salon. I had great service experiences with the first 4 visits but I did have an issue with pricing. I went in for service every 5 weeks. I alternated between a full high/low light and then a partial high/low light and trim. So I expected for there to be a set rate for the two different services since they were the same each time. But every time I went in the pricing was different and a lot more than I expected. I questioned it on my 3rd visit with the receptionist and on my 4th visit when the pricing was more than I expected I spoke with the owner. She was cooperative and we figured out what the two rates would be for the two different services. So, I figured we had the pricing issue resolved. Since I knew Taylor and Alicia would no longer be there for my 5th visit I booked with Ciara. This is were everything went down hill for me. I requested that she follow the same protocol that Alicia and Taylor used on me. Ciara said that she had looked at my chart and knew what I was wanting. I said I wanted the same thing but blonder and that I wanted to keep the chunky brown low lights. It was very challenging to communicate with her and I felt like she was not listening to me nor did I feel like she really cared about what she was doing. She comes across as very uninterested in what she does for a living. I was uncomfortable. But she said she saw my chart so I assumed she knew what I wanted and what she was doing. I attempted conversation with her doing my service to no avail. She is not a people person. Very awkward. When she was done my hair was definitely blonder. When I went to pay I expected it to be the price that the owner and I had discussed the previous visit but much to my dismay it was higher. I was fed up by this point. I went ahead and made my next appointment with Ciara (6th visit). When I got home and looked at my hair it was blonder but she took out all the brown lowlights. She did not listen to what I wanted. I also noticed my hair felt dry and there was breakage. I was not satisfied. I had planned on calling the salon to cancel with Ciara and book with someone else at Pure but i never got around to it. So, I ended up with Ciara again. I told her about the breakage and she was non-responsive nor didn't seem to care. And again, I asked her to follow the same protocol Alicia had used and to add back the chunk/sliced brown lowlights. She did not listen, came across as uninterested and had no conversation with me. She also informed me on this visit that her haircuts were going up to $55 on my next visit. I have long, straight, one length hair. When I went to pay again the price had gone up again. At this point, I knew I was done with Pure Salon. Poorly managed. High turnover with hairdressers. I have since found out that they charge by the gram and not by the service. I'm not a fan of that. When I got home I was furious at how extremely dry, brittle and broken my hair was. I was close to tears. So, I reached out to Alicia (who use to work there and I loved!) and I decided it was worth the travel to go to her. She was shocked by the poor condition of my hair. And she stated that the protocol that she used on my hair was definitely not followed. I have also found out that in order for Ciara to make my hair blonder, she pulled bleach through already bleached strands of hair. Which I learned was a big no no and basic haircolor lesson 101. It should never have been done. This is why my hair is now dry, brittle, and broken all over my head. Alicia has conditioned it to the best of her ability but as she states it's just damaged and it'll just have to grow out. She has had to cut close to 5 inches off and the ends still are extremely brittle. Hair is coming out in my comb and small brittle pieces are breaking off. My hair has never been in this bad shape. I'm crushed and it'll take a couple of years for it all to grow out as my hair is to the middle of my back. Well, now it's shorter than that since we cut 5 inches off. I don't recommend: Poorly managed, rates are not consistent, charge by the gram, high turnover. read more

I went to Pure Salon 6 times. The first 4 services were great. I went to Taylor twice and Alisha twice but unfortunately both of them left. I loved the high/low lights and cuts they gave me. But every time I went in the pricing was different. I spoke with the owner about it and she gave me the set prices for my services so that it would be consistent each time I came in. After Taylor and Alisha left the salon I had 2 appointments with Ciara. The first visit I had with Ciara I told her that I loved what Alisha had done and she said she had my "card" and knew what Alisha had done so she would follow the same protocol. I also told her that I would like my hair a little blonder as well and that I still wanted to keep some of the brown lowlights. It was challenging to communicate with Ciara and I got the feeling that she really didn't care about what I was wanting and she didn't talk at all during the service. It was very ackward trying to start a conversation with her. She seemed very uncomfortable. After the service my hair was blonder but there were no more brown lowlights. Also, I was surprised again that the pricing was different and more expensive even after the owner told me what the set rate should be. I was frustrated. When I got home I noticed my hair felt dry/brittle. I had intentions of cancelling my next appointment with Ciarra but I didn't get around to it in time so I tried her one more time. Same thing, she didn't seem to care and didn't have conversation with me during the service. I told her again I wanted the same protocol that Alisha had done but my hair looked nothing like what Alisha did. Also, again the price was different again. When I got home my hair was even more dry/brittle and I have severe breakage. I have one length long hair down to the middle of my back. All around the crown of my head there are like 5" long strands of broken hair that are suppose to be down to the middle of my back. My hair is fried. I found Alisha and started going to her. She was shocked at the condition of my hair. I found out that Ciara had pulled blonde/bleach through already blonde/bleached strands of my hair and used too high of a developer that normally a hairdresser would not do. It's Color 101 not to pull bleach through already bleached hair. This is why is have so much breakage. Alisha had to cut 5" off my ends and my ends are still fried. It will take a long time to get back in shape as this is going to have to grow out. My hair has never been in this bad shape. I can't stress how brittle, dry and frizzy it is. Brings me to tears. Before this, my hair was silky. I have found out that Pure charges by the gram and not by the service. That is why the pricing is different for the same service every time I went in. I don't agree with that. I will not be back to Pure Salon and LOVE Alisha. Pure Salon lost a fantastic hairdresser and person when they lost Alisha. read more

i got highlights from kerri and love them! she made me a customized conditioner with color deposit in it too to take home and refresh my color as needed. she got the exact color i wanted which always seems to be an issue at other places. next time i need a cut i will be calling to book with her. she is young but knows how to give a trendy look bc she is trendy herself! a glass of wine and hot towel massage are all nice touches. read more

I am new to the area and decided to try this salon. The Aveeda hair color did not work for me. Possibly if the stylist knew about mixing colors, it would have turned out correct. The hair cut I had the day before was longer on one side, so the next day when i got the color I asked for it to be fixed. Terrible results. I called back the next day asking for an appt to fix the color. Was told "it will fade in time". Really??? I was told there was no one available for 2 weeks to fix the horrible color. Not professional answer to a client who is unhappy. When i purchased the shampoo, conditioner, styling prep, hair spray and mousse, i was told i could return them if i didn't like them and receive a refund. When I tried to return them, was told by the owner that is not their policy, but she would make an exception this time only. Bottom line, if you are looking for a new salon, I would advise try some place else. The stylist do not have much experience and the owner is so not professional. Never was I told "we are sorry this didn't work out". Maybe they think they have enough clients. read more
