Service: One server for our party, she was nice but a little oddly for a server she didn't know what ginger ale was and wasn't sure if they had decaf. Our food came out with a pretty big gap between plates, I was finished with mine by the time another in our party got hers. I will say they were very gracious seeing as we were a half hour late. Food: Pretty underwhelming, you could get similar or better food at your local diner. Menu is somewhat limited as well especially for sides and drinks. I got the french toast, it wasn't very moist at all, uninteresting flavor, the strawberry garnish was dried up on the inside so must have been left out for a while, bacon was fine, maple syrup was good. I had a few bites of the omelette which was good and home fries which were on the dry side and without much flavor. Value: It wasn't too expensive thankfully despite being marketed as a 'fine dining experience' I'd say value was about even with the low quality food, french toast was $11. Overall definitely would not recommend, you could get better food at a diner or cafe.

As someone who isn't really into military history but loooves everything spooky (and once upon a time belonged to a paranormal investigation club), of course I was up for some haunted fun! The ghost tour runs at night, obviously, as the midday sun isn't exactly conductive to maximum eeriness. Our guide kicked things off with a talk about the history of this 18th century British fort against the backdrop of the French and Indian War (and an apocryphal movie starring Daniel Day-Lewis). Then comes the main event, and we were brought to the casemate (basement), supposedly the most haunted part of the grounds, as it was used as a field hospital for wounded soldiers, and well, many didn't make it. Our tour guide was fantastic, equal parts historian and campfire storyteller, and regaled us with tales of entity encounters, paranormal happenings, and other unexplained phenomena. Are the stories real? Exaggerated? Completely fabricated for tourism purposes? I have no idea, but baby I got chills! If you believe that a place can carry the residual energy of suffering, deaths, not to mention infection-prone surgeries without anesthesia, perhaps these stories are believable. Note: the daytime vibe is basically just a normal historic fort, so the day tour is a pretty different experience, and doing both isn't redundant. I didn't really get to look around the museum cos I didn't want to be left behind alone after that terrifying finale about a girl who wandered off alone during a tour (no spoilers but that one made the hairs on my arm stand up!), and anyway I wanted to check out the gift shop, where the bright fluorescent lights and people are.... Finally, what a great gift shop! There's a nice assortment of souvenirs, practical items, and knick knacks, and I even snagged some cool finds on sale. My favorite score was a scratch-off card of the Catskills 3500 peaks (shoutout to Peakquest), a reminder for me to get back to peak bagging instead of ghost hunting.

It is country/woodsy farmhouse all the way through, and my room was absolutely adorable with kitschy pink vintage mini sofa and matching arm chair, as well as a gold framed bed and antique wooden armoire and side tables. The building was equipped with both wireless internet and digital television for the guests. A bar downstairs served a full drinking menu as well as the restaurants wine list and a variety of craft ($4!!!!) beers. The breakfasts were lovely, served with fresh, local ingredients. Definitely some of the best eggs benedict I've ever had. A short drive to several beautiful hiking trails on the east shore of the lake as well as into Lake George Village. The staff was very considerate and helpful.

The room was very well appointed with everything you'd need. At 4:30am, we could see the sun start to come up over Lake George, an experience of its own with all the mountains in the background. When we got up in the morning at 8, a staff member of the Inn brought me a cup of tea up to my room when conversing with her about how my sinuses were bothering me; GREAT attention to detail and genuine care. When we arrived for breakfast in the dining hall, we were greeted again by the same staff member with fresh fruit containing sliced strawberries oranges and bananas, hot croissants and muffins. It was then followed by a hot gourmet breakfast of hot tea, spinach/egg frittatas, crispy bacon and homeade cranberry and nut bread with fresh preserves and butter. There was also fresh grapefruit juice along with water for the table. They also placed us at the front of the dining room looking over the mountain and Lake George. We will be back for certain and telling everyone about this beautiful place!

They offered continental breakfast that included fruit, eggs, pastries, and some other offerings. I would not expect to fill up on their breakfast, but they offered enough where you certainly could. The owner was friendly, but seemed a bit suspicious of guests. Overall, if you want a relatively inexpensive place in a great location and do not expect to be in your room very much, then the Windsor Motel might be a good fit for you.
