2.5 stars: Underwhelming food, nice people, pretty venue Vibe: Big stone detail building right on the water, we were a party of 12 seated in a private room, fancy older house vibe. Service: One server for our party, she was nice but a little oddly for a server she didn't know what ginger ale was and wasn't sure if they had decaf. Our food came out with a pretty big gap between plates, I was finished with mine by the time another in our party got hers. I will say they were very gracious seeing as we were a half hour late. Food: Pretty underwhelming, you could get similar or better food at your local diner. Menu is somewhat limited as well especially for sides and drinks. I got the french toast, it wasn't very moist at all, uninteresting flavor, the strawberry garnish was dried up on the inside so must have been left out for a while, bacon was fine, maple syrup was good. I had a few bites of the omelette which was good and home fries which were on the dry side and without much flavor. Value: It wasn't too expensive thankfully despite being marketed as a 'fine dining experience' I'd say value was about even with the low quality food, french toast was $11. The location is not only historically beautiful the staff is just as amazing. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a Goodafternoon. The check-in process was quick and simple. I was there with my husband celebrating our 2 year anniversary the matridean at the front desk was so accommodating he was able to work his magic and get us a table outside in a beautiful lit igloo which definitely made our day. I have nothing but rave reviews to share about the staff, the organization of wedding details, the incredibly seamless communication to vendors, the delicious food, the comfort of the rooms, and the breathtaking views of the mountains and lake! From the day that we called and scheduled a venue tour as a newly engaged couple to the moment I was walking down the aisle, I have had only positive experiences working with the staff at the Erlowest. We booked the venue a little over a year out from our wedding date, so it is best to lock in a date as soon as possible. From there, we received printed and digital copies of various packages, enhancements, lodging options, suggested vendors, and contact information. We got to book a complimentary tasting session and got beautiful small portions of various options for our several courses to be served at our wedding. The chef at the Erlowest is a flavor genius. It was difficult to narrow down options when everything is absolutely one of the best bites I've ever had. Our wedding coordinator Liz seriously made sure we were taken care of from the moment she began working with us. She impressed me with her professional and prompt communication, personalized suggestions for our reception, and how she made sure we were comfortable and happy on our wedding day. The other staff at the Erlowest took such good care of us and our 100 guests from the night of the rehearsal until the morning after the wedding when they held onto our wedding cake top tier because we forgot it! They even held onto our ceremony flowers until we had time to come scoop them up later in the weekend. I have never received such pleasant service, and it was greatly appreciated on such a special weekend. The Inn at Erlowest itself is worthy of five stars just due to the impressive structure and history of the castle. We stayed in the Montcalm Room and had a large and comfortable king size bed, a jacuzzi, and a private balcony with a breathtaking view of Lake George. Expecting an evening of fine dining, we were sadly disappointed. Our enthusiasm was momentarily confirmed by the beautiful ambiance of this castle like setting overlooking Lake George. It was quickly dampened however by the inexperience of the waiter and a mixed assessment of the kitchen staff. The waiter appeared lacking in the expected etiquette and assistance required of a high end restaurant. At the end of the evening he presented us a bill that included two bottles of wine that we didn't order. As for the entree itself, those who ordered the pork chop found it very good along with the soup. The fish and chicken dishes,however, were dry and tasteless. read more

My husband and I just spent a December weekend here. We had an amazing time! We loved everything about the visit. I cannot stress this enough...the food was outstanding!!! We had dinner in an igloo. Our waitress Olivia went above and beyond for us. She was exceptional. All of the staff made this a very personal experience. We had a great time sitting with the bartender Marisa. She kept us laughing all night and had great drink suggestions. A sit down breakfast was included and was delicious as well. There is a lot of history everywhere. You feel like you're staying in a castle. We are already planning a trip back in a few months. Unfortunately we haven't been able to stay at the inn yet but I had to share our story that ended with 5 star customer service. My husband and I were redeeming a Christmas present and had a one night stay in February to see the ice castles. The night before our stay he was in a car accident. Luckily he is okay, but our car was totaled. I dealt with booking.com and Laurie the manager of the inn. Of course with the size of the inn they don't take cancellations but this was a circumstance out of our control. I sent Laurie the police report asking to please Reimburse us to come back again once everything was settled. She didn't hesitate to show empathy and make an exception for us. We're excited to visit the inn at later date and we know we'll be taken care of there. read more

Expected a fine dining experience when we arrived for dinner. We had reservations for a group of 12 to celebrate a birthday. The setting on Lake George is spectacular, the bldg looks like a castle. The food itself was tasty but the waitstaff seemed very inexperienced. Very slow service. One diner never received her meal until we asked twice. One dessert menu was presented tot he table of 14 diners to read, share - there's no way that worked so they didn't sell us dessert. Why wasn't everyone given a menu? Bartender inexperienced. No "mocktail" or non-alcoholic option (I wanted because I was driving). Restrooms are limited (2 single bathrooms for a large # diners.) & when I used restroom there was nothing with which to dry your hands (ewwwwww.....). Overall, unimpressed. Very expensive. Experience did not meet the marketing hype or match the lovely setting. Wouldn't return here, too many other fabulous dinner options! read more

Extremely poor customer service. Made a reservation however, when the confirmation was received, I noted it had the wrong date (by 10 days). I don't know if it was my error or the website's error (default date ?). I immediatley contacted the hotel to change the date. They had no availability on the actual date I needed, but would not issue a refund for my deposit (since it was a non-refundable rate). They can't accomodate me but also will not refund a deposit....will not stay here in the future. I'm shocked at the lack of customer service when they are clearly not suffering with reservations. read more

Could not get tv to work had to go down stairs again. Cable cord was undone by housekeeping. Hot tub has no rails for seniors. Hard to get in and out of. Dinner was a chicken breast on menu . Sorry I still believe it was thigh and leg. Many staff members did not have answers because they said they were new. The owner did call me but she never offered me anything. My niece is getting married during the Fall of 2016, and on a recent trip to upstate NY, my Dad and I took a drive up in the Adirondack Mountains to the little town of Lake George to visit the site for the wedding. The Inn at Erlowest is a truly magnificent turn-of-the-century stone castle, perched on the hillside, overlooking Lake George. It's easy to imagine guests mingling on the patio after a day on the lake, or parties held by candlelight with fine crystal and laughter, and of the elegance of a time gone by. Erlowest recalls an era when people escaped from the cities to enjoy mountain air and pristine beauty while luxuriating in elegance and sophistication. Your first view of this spectacular Queen Anne-style stone castle starts with your drive along Lake Shore Drive, just north of Lake George, in an area that was formerly known as "Millionaires Row". There's a long meandering driveway that brings you down to the porte-cochère entrance to this beautiful Inn. The gardens and landscaping are amazing along the way. Up the steps and onto the covered wrap-around deck, and then inside to the waiting area where you can check in for your rooms or dinner reservations. A very kind lady escorted us around the Inn, and pointed out the two main dining areas. The Green Room is where they serve complimentary breakfast, and the Red Room is the more formal dining room for dinner. There is a gorgeous bar area tucked around the corner, with it's rich, dark wood, and great selection of bourbons! Oh happy day!!!! Outside is a covered pavilion which is used for wedding receptions, and weather-permitting there is an area of the spacious lawn to host an outdoor wedding ceremony, all while overlooking the scenic lake. Dad and I sat on a couple of Adirondack chairs near the big outdoor stone fireplace and decided that we need to remember to bring a bag of marshmallows so that we'll have something to do after the reception. Inside the Inn are 10 historically-restored guest suites, appointed with fireplaces, and breathtaking views of the Lake. Dad and I will be relegated to one of the split-level lakeside cottages with the rest of the family members. First impressions are important. The Inn at Erlowest is full of first impressions before you even sit down at your table. The long winding driveway down to the Inn; the view of the lake as you follow that winding road; the look of a castle; the operating fireplace on the portico; the heftiness of the huge door as you enter; the architecture and furnishings of the arrival room. I'm sure you will notice things that I totally missed as I was preoccupied with the things I saw. While nothing requires or suggests you to be dressed in formal attire, you'll feel more at home if you are in smart casual attire. This was our second visit here in about 4 years. There are separate rooms for dining to provide a bit more intimacy, and a bar that overlooks the portico and the lake. There are rooms on the upper floors to stay overnight. The menu is not large, but has a sufficient variety of soup, salad, appetizer and entree to please most people. I recall the entrees covering fish, beef, veal, pork, duck, and I'm probably forgetting something, the night we were there. The appetizers we chose were a potato bisque and a caesar salad. Both were excellent and a step above what would be typically expected. My wife chose a tenderloin of veal while I opted for the short-ribs with shrimp. Both were served with a tasty medley of vegetables. Her veal provided the feeling of comfort food that she had been looking for while my short-ribs had an excellent five-Chinese spice sauce. For desert I chose a bread pudding with ice cream and kirsch. This was definitely one of the better bread puddings that I've had. It was neither heavy nor dry. This is a wonderful place to visit in any season, even if you simply stop for a drink at the bar. Service was very good and the welcoming was warm. read more

Overall a gorgeous castle that you absolutely must stay in if you're ever in the Lake George area. On to the details: First impressions: The windy road leading down to the Erlowest gives such a dramatic first impression. All of a sudden, BAM! Castle! Plus the Lake is right behind it, just gorgeous. Our room: We stayed in the Jogues Room which was very nice. The bed was huge and comfy, with an absurd amount of pillows on it. The TV was small but had a bunch of channels. The only downside to our room, really, was the temperature - we came mid-October during a warm/humid spell. The only AC was a window unit which we kept blasting on 60 overnight just to keep the humidity at bay. The unit was old and I don't do well with AC air, so it left me feeling kinda gross. Bathroom: Luxurious and huge, lots of towels, and tons of charm. However, the tub was so huge, it was dangerous getting in and out of wet because there is nothing to hold on to. There's no way to do it gracefully (long story short, I ended up with a bruised thigh after trying to climb out soaking wet). Views of Lake George: INSANELY PRETTY. Our room had a little bit of a view but you can totally enjoy the full effect from the lower or upper balconies. Dining room/restaurant: Our stay came with breakfast and it was delicious. We enjoyed the full breakfast menu (no stale continental buffet here!). Everything was fresh cooked and served in the lovely dining room. The menu had everything from eggs & bacon to oatmeal to smoothies. The service was a little slow (there was only one waiter) but we weren't in a rush. The ambiance is really relaxing and the decor is intricate and so unique. Staff: Excellent, friendly, warm, and inviting. I can't say enough about them! Price: Pricey but worth the splurge for a special occasion. Extras/Misc: When we arrived we were brought up a cheese plate and prosecco which was an amazing, and delicious, surprise! We totally brought the prosecco out to the upper balcony and enjoyed while staring out over the lake. Don't expect to get any cell service here - wifi/4G/3G/anything! - the granite walls make it impossible to get a signal. The main floor patio/balcony is a little piece of heaven. I booked this for my daughter's birthday. We specifically booked the igloo a month before. They told me I didn't book it and couldn't accommodate us until much later. They implied that I lied and made up that I reserved the igloo. I was extremely disappointed with the customer service and would never go there. I had even given my credit card info to reserve. Probably best for weddings and meetings but for the solo traveler... not so much. Staff, restaurant service and food was very nice and the grounds and lake view are beautiful. The rooms are average with a vintage charm ( not luxury as advertised). Air is centrally controlled and the fireplace did not work. They did come and adjust the setting but it stayed between 61° and 64° in my room. The description for a private balcony is misleading, you actually have to enter the main balcony and unlatch a small gate that is blocked off with a private sign. There is no direct balcony access from your room (which defeats the purpose for me). If someone accidentally leaves the patio door open flies fly in. The front desk gave me a fly swatter but it was still pretty annoying. The pool and private beaches are shared with the villas down below and the kayaks/water equipment were unavailable (possibly due to it being shared). Walls are very, very, very thin! You can hear every child scream and live their best life at the pool and beach below, every door open and close, every footstep, every glass clink, every key jiggle and other guest conversations while in your room. I had to go to my car to take a work call because of the noise. Not ideal for solo travelers or those who are looking for a quiet escape. read more

My husband and I stayed at The Inn at Erlowest for our Honeymoon and it was just lovely! Everyone at the Inn was very accommodating and nice. We stayed in the Horicon Suite which was lakefront and the view was beautiful. Upon arriving there was 2 small bottle of champagne in an ice box & champagne flutes waiting for us. Every day they bring you cookies in the afternoon & delicious chocolate truffles around 6:00pm which was a nice way to end the day. We ate dinner at the Inns restaurant on our first night there and every single dish was out of this world! It WAS very pricey but it was worth every dollar, we enjoyed our meal very much and our waitress was very nice as Well. They offer a complimentary sit down breakfast every morning and there's about 5-6 choices on the menu to chose from plus juices, coffee and tea. While my husband wasn't very comfortable with the softer mattress I slept well but if you tend to like a firmer mattress and pillows then you may feel uncomfortable. Keep in mind that this Inn was building in the early 1900's so it's quite old and so are the pipes ... Needless to say it takes a good 5 minutes for the water to get hot in the shower or faucet but I loved our shower and found it to be quite relaxing. The whirlpool, however, was a tad messy as there is no way to adjust the power of the jets so the water came out super strong but it's otherwise a really nice whirlpool. Honestly, I really loved our stay at the Inn at Erlowest and found it to be a really classy, cozy and romantic stay and would definitely go back again. Being that this was going to be our first trip to Lake George I did a lot of research as to where we should stay. When I found Erlowest I knew that this was the place for us. From the moment we arrived we were treated wonderfully by the vey friendly staff. The suite we stayed in was beautiful. Upon arrival there was Prosecco waiting for us in our room. The bed was very comfortable & the décor in the room was just lovely. Every night they have a turn down service & leave homemade chocolates on your bed which were delicious. The Inn itself is just stunning inside and out. While not all rooms have a view of the lake, there is a large balcony on the second floor with lounge chairs for guests. We spent every morning & evening relaxing on the balcony and taking in the gorgeous views. It was so quiet and peaceful and most of the time we were the only ones out there. A complimentary breakfast is served to guests from 7:30-10:30. If you are staying here you do not want to miss out on this. The breakfast we had each morning was incredible. You have the choice to either sit on the outdoor patio or the dining room. We didn't order off of the restaurant dinner menu while we were there but we did order from the "lighter fare menu" in the pub. The prices were very reasonable and the food was great. We will definitely eat at the restaurant during our next visit. They have a heated pool and kayaks which we didn't use during our visit but we certainly will in the future. There are 10 rooms at the Inn, each uniquely decorated & so elegant. Instead of a room number each suite has a name. Also, each guest has their own parking space at the Inn named after the suite they are staying in. Great idea since the restaurant is open to the public for dinner guests never have to worry about parking. This was one of the most beautiful, elegant, classy & peaceful places we have ever stayed. We had our wedding at The Inn at Erlowest last weekend and the whole experience exceeded our expectations! We arrived a day early and our wedding party stayed in the condos. They are spacious, clean and completely equipped so you don't need to leave the grounds once you bring your groceries. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather -docked our boat rental at the docks and also enjoyed the heated pool. Our wedding day was perfect! I was able to take my little wedding bridal party up to the main house where we enjoyed some quality time before the ceremony. The sitting area has access to this incredible balcony and the views are spectacular. We had fun taking photos and just relaxing. Laurie & LeAnna are amazing and made us all feel like royalty. The attention to detail and execution is spot on! Our ceremony was on the grass near the lake and once we were married & photos were done- LeAnna picked us up in the golf cart- called up our drink orders and whisked us to the house for the reception. Very impressive! Our reception was where the outdoor fireplace is and everything was beautiful. The food was excellent! Cake was so yummy too! We were so happy with the food that we decided to have dinner at the Inn the following night- again everything was amazing! My husband could not stop raving about the pork belly appetizer! The other nice thing is that we met a number of couples that returned to celebrate their wedding anniversaries. Laurie already told us that she will make sure to make our return visit next year just as memorable. We highly recommend The Inn at Erlowest! What a fabulous experience! Harvey greeted us with a friendly, warm hello, and made sure we had everything we needed. The champagne in our room was a nice touch. The mussels appetizer and warm spinach salad were delightful. Definitely try out the smoked Oscar's pork chop. The veggies on the side were cooked to perfection. My spouse thoroughly enjoyed the beef brisket. For dessert we enjoyed the creme brulee and the sorbet all in the unique heated igloo experience. Having visited many different hotels and venues in my life, with a price range $ to $$$$, I have to say this inn was highly disappointing. Unfortunately, the owners haven't claimed their Yelp account yet, so they won't see this for reference. The building is beautiful. The view is breathtaking. The room was adorable. The food, when the restaurant was open, was amazing. So what went wrong? Let's start with the outside. Whoever designed the townhouses belonging to their sister venue (Sun Castle) should be shot. They are almost directly in front of the inn between the building and the shore and are the ugliest color imaginable. They made no attempt to incorporate a design to blend with the atmosphere of the historical inn and are just an ugly blotch on the landscape. Second, its not rocket science to have the "reserved" parking spaces to the inn's 10 rooms close to the building. My assigned parking was the farthest space from the front entrance, though there were open spaces available nine spaces closer. Just change the signs if you're going to offer this as an amenity! Also, the drive in off the street is underwhelming and frankly, devoid of all charm. Inside, the room itself was lovely. The picture on the website makes it appear that it has an accessory sitting room but it is actually the public area outside the room. The private balcony is accessed through this public area but is only separated by a wrought iron gate. As another guest commented, the cable to the t.v. was unplugged by housekeeping (as I found out when it wouldn't work and I had to call the front desk). To get ice, you have to ask the front desk again because they have to access it from the kitchen. After the first night, I put the sign on the door for housekeeping and came back that afternoon to an unlocked door and no fresh towels or emptied trash. At least they made the bed. Second day, they didn't even do that (at least the door stayed locked.) Wanted to keep windows open to catch the breeze but there are no screens, but plenty of bees. Maybe these are minor annoyances, but with the prices charged, these are things that make a difference between staying here again or going elsewhere. Update, they compensated us and apologized for the lack of service due to the nationwide shortage of people willing to work these days. read more

I brought my wife here for a birthday gift, we stayed in the Montcalm room and I bought the package with dinner included. I called the Inn about 12:30ish to see when we could check in, they informed me our room would be ready at 1:30. I wanted to get there as early as I could to enjoy the room. My wife had no idea where we were going or staying so as we arrived I actually had her close her eyes until I was right in front of the Inn, needless to say she was shocked and surprised as one could be. As we walked in the front door we were greeted by a women named Susan. She is a sweetheart, really friendly and helpful. She showed us the dinning room we would be having dinner in and then brought us up to our room. She explain what and where all the controls in the room went to efficiently and fast then left so we could enjoy the room. (see pics of the room) My favorite thing in the room was the Jacuzzi. I've been to alot of bed and breakfasts and they claim they have a 2 person Jacuzzis in the room when in fact they only fit 1 person. Not here this jacuzzi actually fits 2 adults with plenty of room to spare. I can honestly say I have never been more relaxed, I didn't want to go home the following day. I was really looking forward to dinner, I looked at their menu almost everyday before coming. As part of the dinner package we were served a 3 course meal. The waiter said if we wanted a entree as an app we could do that as well, it would just be a app portion. So for the first course we ordered french country mac and cheese . ( their last one) and chorizo and and manchego risotto. I made my mind up and settle on their Lake Superior Walleye, and my wife ordered their beef strip for our entree course. Dessert's we ordered tiramisu?, waffles with some type of bacon dust and blueberry compote. The best part of the dinner was the app mac and cheese, other than that we didn't think too much of the food. I was expecting something different in my dish but I didn't complain because I knew the menu was changing after the night we dine there. I would give the restaurant 2 to 3 stars. When we stay again we will be dinning somewhere else, because the food was a let down for us. If you are looking to get away for the night with that special someone and you want the " wow factor " definitely bring them here. Amazing! Did not disappoint! The premises are dated but that's ok it's clean sparkly, tidy, and the customer service is 100 stars! My husband and I were accommodated to the third floor suite due to a wedding on premises. Not a single noise, peaceful and great 11 year anniversary get away. The restaurant is 100 percent amazing. The inn at erlowest is a goergios mansion, one of the nicest places to stay in lake goerge. Their prices are amazing for what they provide on their grounds and within the rooms. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and you will certainly feel like a queen. I especially liked the beautiful scenery that I was able to see from the balcony. It was a beautiful scene and although I didn't have a view from my room, my room was absolutely stunning and I would certainly take back the room on my next stay. The Inn at Erlowest gets 5 stars for both its rooms and restaurant. Set on Lake George; about 3 minutes north of Lake George Village is this fine establishment. The old castle that the inn now occupies is breathtaking; as is the view of the lake. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. Now lets talk about the restaurant. You feel special as soon as you walk through the front door. You are greeted by a host/hostess and brought into one of 2 intimate dining rooms. The wine list is large but not overwhelming; the menu is fabulous. We have eaten here on multiple occasions and have always been extremely pleased. Every entree is freshly prepared and placed on the plate like a work of art. In this case; you can judge a book by its cover; since the food tastes every bit as good as it looks. Don't pass on dessert even if your stomach thinks it had enough. This is a great "special occasion" restaurant or just if you want an intimate and quiet dinner. I promise, we will be back again and again. read more

This is one of the most elegant bed and breakfasts I've stayed at. From the gorgeous room to the amazing breakfast. They thought of everything from awesome bedding, an excellent jacuzzi tub, chocolate covered strawberries and cheese plate, right down to the premium shampoos and soaps. We recently held our wedding at the Inn at Erlowest and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We really loved that they only host one wedding day. It enabled them to give us their full attention and we never felt that they were rushing and trying to prepare for another event, because it was just us. The Inn is incredibly beautiful and inviting from the moment to come down the drive. We had a fall wedding and the deep reds and greens of the internal decor were perfect for the season, and there were several fireplaces to make everything cozy. The grounds are very enchanting and I think everyone of our guests commented on how gorgeous the venue was. We were initially concerned about the location for the ceremony since it was a tented area outside. However, the staff was super helpful and had heat lamps at the ready to set up inside the tented area to keep our guests warm. We ended up getting really lucky with the weather and it was a beautiful day, but it was great to know that there was a back up plan. The food from cocktail hour to our late night snack was great. I loved that they allowed us to choose four entree options to accommodate all of our guests, but more importantly, all the options were super tasty. We did have a small issue with the soup appetizer being a bit overly salty, but other than that, our guests all said that the food was outstanding. We also loved the amazing outdoor fireplace. It proved to be a great meeting spot for a lot of our guests. If anyone wanted to step away from the excitement of the reception, they could easily head outside and refresh themselves. Obviously if you have a summer wedding there, the fireplace might not be as useful, but anytime in the fall, it is a fantastic plus to have on property. All of the staff from the waitstaff, to the bar staff, and Alexis the in-house planner, were incredibly nice and helpful. One of our guests is known for being a bit difficult and the server had him laughing and relaxed within 30 minutes of dinner service. Alexis, was so helpful in planning and executing all the little details of our wedding. If any issue popped up, she would let us know how she was going to handle it. That kept us informed, but we felt confident that everything was under control. The bar area made for the perfect after party spot without having to leave the venue. The bartender was very professional and laid back. He even kept the bar open for us for an extra hour so we weren't rushed out of anywhere. Another convenient after party spot and accommodations were the on-site townhouses. Many of our guests reserved the townhouses, and they were great hang out spots, plus it was nice to have so many of our guests on-site. Last, but not least, the breakfast on the following morning was really great. We opted not to do the full-on brunch for the wedding guests, and instead just ate in the dining room at the Inn. Everything was super tasty, and once again they had a ton of great options. We would recommend this venue for anyone hosting an event. You get luxury, great service, great food and an incredible ambiance. I know we are already planning on spending our first anniversary up there next year!! read more

My husband and I celebrated our wedding reception at the Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get married in the area. We planned our wedding almost exclusively through calls and emails since we were living on the west coast at the time. Erin, the wedding coordinator extraordinaire did an amazing job from start to finish. She made vendor and other hotel recommendations, stepped in when necessary and let us run the show when we wanted to do so. The food choices were exquisite, with many local and seasonal choices. I am very picky with food and expected an amazing spread, and that it was. Not only the food but the display of the food was truly amazing. The chef was able to work with us when we had guests with special dietary needs and the dishes he came up with for those guests were just as delicious! The staff were attentive and gave fantastic customer service from the planning process through the end of the perfect night. When were too busy with guests, our captain made a dish up with a couple of extra slices of cake - and left them in our room for us. What a perfect breakfast that was. :) The property is gorgeous with views of the lake. The inside of the Inn is ornate and beautiful - lots of great spots to take photos. The hotel rooms were also stunning - we stayed in the Montcalm Suite and that bed.... i could have slept in that bed for days. Our whirlpool tub wasn't working properly but that didn't take away from our stay at all. They even left us Champagne for us to drink when we finally went to bed. I cannot recommend The Inn at Erlowest or working with Erin enough - she really made our day perfect. My boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary by treating ourselves to this wonderful dining experience. The meal we had will be talked about for a very long time. Everything was absolutely perfect. The service was wonderful, the music playing in the background was perfect, the decor in the room was beautiful, the food was out of this world. We both ordered the 40 day aged beef. It was to die for. Underneath the beef hid an amazing risotto. The risotto was cooked perfect with lots of flavor. The asparagus was well seasoned and crisp, and the purple sweet potato compote added a whole new depth to the plate. However, let me back track to the Caribbean shrimp starter. This too was amazing! The sweetness of the glaze over the shrimp and some of the sour from the lemon and other flavors combined perfect. We also received a very delicious bite. It was cheese,duck, and a roasted fig, with a bit of a sauce. The flavors were meant to be eaten all together, and I'm glad I followed the advice. It was heaven. Lastly, we enjoyed dessert. I ordered the maple creme brûlée! This was topped with fresh strawberries and cream! It was the perfect amount of sweetness. My boyfriend got the chocolate truffle cake with warm cherries on it. That too was delicious! We were amazed from beginning to end!! read more

We stayed two nights last week and loved it! The bed was so comfortable and the chilled champagne and cheese platter waiting for us was a nice treat. We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace...beautiful and the bartender, also a school teacher, was so friendly. We had a great time just hanging out with him, too! One complaint, very rude man, didn't get his name unfortunately, running the front desk. Cara at the desk when we arrived was very helpful and sweet. Beautiful property and rooms. read more

My wife and I have grown to love Lake George, and are frequent visitors to the region. We recently celebrated our 30th anniversary with a visit to the Inn at Erlowest. The Inn itself is beautful. A former residence built in 1898, it oozes turn of the century charm. The building has been modified and renovated, so loses points for preserving history in the strict sense. However, the modifications are mostly welcome. For example, the lake-faciing patio is large enough to host all of the inn guests (there are only six guest rooms) and the fireplace is a nice addition. There is a second floor balcony overlooking the lake (as everything does). This is a common area for all guests. There is a section of the balcony marked "private", which is clearly segregated to reduce the likelihood that guests will disturb fellow visitors with rooms that abut that balcony. In other words, it's crowd control and not really private in the usual sense of that word. All of the guest rooms are decorated nicely in period decor. The bathrooms are elegantly outfitted in earth toned tile and with modern fixtures. Wireless connectivity was there, although the upper floors are a bit near the end of the range. Our room was The Horicon, which has two windows facing the lake directly. The staff was extremely friendly and cordial and all seem to enjoy chatting with guests in a very appropriate but personal way. Advice and recommendations on area attractions and restaurants was solid. The property itself has been radically altered over time. The Villas of Sun Castle resort (a sister property on the same grounds) were built in the 50's. Sometime more recently, a couple of rows of very nice townhouses were added in order - I assume - to squeeze the most income out of this valuable strip of land. The net effect is a bit cluttered with structures obscuring what was once a pristine bit of lawn extending from the mansion (the Inn) down to the lake. In addition to the Villas, a large wedding-factory banquet hall was build adjacent to the Inn. The architecture of the banquet hall echos the Inn's Queen Anne style, but it's clearly modern-era construction and it detracts from the overall charm the place once had. The restaurant was excellent. It has recently opened to the public. Prior to that, it was intended to serve the guests only. Our meals were five-star, wonderfully prepared and presented, and served with great personal attention in a setting with great old-school ambiance. While rooms at the Inn are a bit on the epensive side, I'd definitley return again. It's worth it for special occasions with a special someone. read more

The Erlowest is a quaint and romantic inn located on the lake. The views are nice of the lake. We went during the winter season, so the town was dead primarily. The Inn had the fireplaces burning which was nice and the restaurant was nicely decorated. The food for dinner at the restaurant was delicious and nicely presented. The included breakfast was another story. The portions were not really generous and the choices never changed and lacked creativity and werent really hot. Under the tables in the dining room were not properly cleaned and seemed dirty in the morning. The room was nice, but the bed frame was too high to watch a movie or tv comfortably. They should re-invest in lower bottom portion bed frames or raise the tvs and hang them on the walls. They had the smallest garbage in the world in the bathroom, which never held our garbage. The cleaning staff were not thorough and they could barely smile, when passed in the hallway. They did make little towel ruffles and leave a note every night. Overall, the place was pretty and most lobby staff were friendly, but they were not very accommodating. You had to sit in certain areas designated in the dining room, you had to ask repeatedly for water to be in the fridge, upon return and the homeade cookies were amazing, but not always available and sometimes burnt. It was an overall pleasant environment, but an average place to stay. They had game pieces missing so you couldnt play, and when brought to the attention of housekeeping, they didnt seem to sincerely care. I loved the movies available for the guests. It was a nice selection and the outside upstairs deck had great views! read more
