These guys were a lot of fun. I went to the Casa Grand location and I expected a more professional atmosphere but it worked out fine. My son and I both had a fun and safe dive. It was a little dirtier in the landing then I thought it would be. U kind of slide into this gravel lot and dirt goes flying. Being our first time I don't know what to expect. I've heard a few different stories from people who did Phoenix Skydive Center in different locations in the state and they all so different. I guess it depends where u go. Yet another rash decision that me and my boyfriend made for his birthday this year. But 100% worth it. I read a few reviews about the staff not being friendly, but that simply was not the case for us. They were quirky and had a great sense of humour. We made sure to ask them they had important plans lined up for later that evening, being that you're jumping out with them from 10,000 feet! The wait wasn't long either. How is it possible there are only FOUR Yelps on this? The five stars are beyond justified. I am a tight fisted woman with those stars, but, when you're talking about trusting, OH, your LIFE to someone else this seems appropriate. (And not just because I didn't die.) Today was Fun. Relaxing. Exciting. But not stressful. Here's the thing. I went skydiving thirteen years ago. Yes, I'm *that* old. (Also, I remembered to dye my roots last night. Covers my bald spot a bit better and makes me look younger.) Anyway. I know the drill. You go, you sign too many waivers, step into gear, hop into a tiny plane, try to enjoy the view and hope for the best. Buuuut...I got a lot more than that today. I picked up a rich memory that I won't ever forget. And not in the "Rum, why did you let me drink so much" variety bad feeling. The owner, and god help me, I can't remember his name right now. (Only that he wore a very hol-e-y set of garments. Not holy in the Vatican sense. His wife now has an excuse to chuck that t-shirt. And maybe those jeans;) His sense of humor is in line with mine. Ho my. He didn't bat an eye when we showed up without an appointment. Don't do that. You might not get to jump. Jumping in Phoenix is very different than the east coast. When it gets hot, no one wants to do anything. So, actually my friend and I should have known better. No one wants to do ANYthing in Phoenix after 10AM. So, DUH. After you sign your life away (yes, there's no getting around that) you hang out in a room with maybe four or five round tables. If you've forgotten to eat (like maybe me - don't tell my trainer) there's a vending and coffee machine. There were some really neat older gentlemen there today, chock full of stories. If you can, come ready to listen. I have a feeling these guys are here often. If you ask nice they'll probably show you a picture of their planes (well worn and carried in their wallets). So..onto the actual jumping thing. Eh, hold on a sec. Jewelry: - Don't wear any. Hair: - When you tie it up/back tie it tighter than a sailor's knot. My running knot came out in the middle of the dive. Sticky mess but dangerous as it blocks your dive instructor's view. BAD. My friend and I picked up the social media picture package thing. So instead of leaving with a disc of images, we agreed to go with the "we have no shame" and "go ahead and post all of our unedited photos on your FB page". This option is neat if you don't want to fiddle with a disc, or FB. You can quickly tag yourself and away you go! (I personally, picked a few pictures, cropped, threw a filter/border on and * then* shared everywhere.) General Advice for Filming/Photos: - Ladies, you can totally wear your hair down for every single shot PRE JUMP. (~ until five minutes before jump). Don't let the men rush you. Look puurty! - If you're in a group, there's a Q/A video of "why are you jumping today" before you head out. I would recommend one of two things. (A) Use one camera so everyone is facing the same lens. Or (B) Let everyone have private time with their dive instructor. - Your Dive Instructors are like Ninjas with those Cameras. Seriously. Sasha (my super awesome dive buddy) finally realized how much of a spaz I am and started prompting me. (THANK GOODNESS.) "Hey, Look here!" (Like a five year old on a pony, that would be me.) - There's not really such a good thing as a "good look" when you're in free fall. My goggles completely squashed my eyeballs, making it hard to see out of one eye, and apparently making me look like a frog. (Maybe I could have voiced concerns about tightness earlier.) My friend said her dive buddy suggested smiling NO MATTER WHAT as it made you look better. - I think there is definite value for the photos. There were something like 135? photos. In that wiiiide batch I found some killer (maybe a bad word to use:) photos that made my friends at work uber jealous. (I've only posted TWO so far. Both of which I posted to Yelp. I was in a rush today. Things to do!) Now, for the real reason that I'm hammering out a Yelp review on a Friday night. The word needs to get out. These guys are fun. I know I said that already. I was pretty chill coming into the situation. (My friend, maybe not so much.) But every party involved was very [VERY] welcoming and easy going. My friend was not clutching my hand as I had feared. Afterwards she was not wreckage. She was happy. This made ME happy. I was already happy as the view is just amazing. When you fly commercial (or, if you're privy to a really nice private plane, in which case I hate you) you're somewhat removed from the vista. In a small plane you can see EVERYTHING. It really is something I think everyone should try. These guys make you feel good about getting ready, getting on the plane, being in the plane, being in the air, and landing. And, let's face it, it's the landing part that really matters. Well, all of it matters I highly recommend! read more

100%! I would 100% come back here again. The team was friendly and someone even let me borrow their hair tie :'D (pro tip ladies-bring one!!). Its out in Casa Grande which is about an hour out of Phoenix, and worth it. I did a tandem jump with Shawn, and although it was my second jump, he still made sure I knew what to expect, and what I should do. I felt comfortable. They do film you and take photos with a Go Pro, and you can buy those at the end. It is $90 for either the photos or the video, OR $130 for both. The Go Pro is attached to your instructor's wrist when you jump so the range will definitely be limited, but okay. The jump goes by fast so dont forget to relax and breathe! Then enjoy coasting with the parachute :) when you're back at the base be sure to read the "survivor's board" and sign your own name! read more

They were prompt...no waiting around from check in until harnessing up. My instructor, Tim, was upbeat and professional. Jump was fun and safe with a perfect walking landing. Let me start off by saying, like all the rest, I am deathly afraid of heights. I once stood at the top of a tiny waterfall for over an hour, debating on whether to jump or not, while 9 year olds were flying off with no thought. In the end, I didn't jump because I'm that much of a wimp. I did get awful sunburn on my shoulders though. Skydiving with these guys didn't have me scared for one moment. Our jump was scheduled at 2 pm but we had received an email around noon that we were on a 1 hour delay due to low clouds. It was nice to get advance notice! So, we arrived there at 3 and filled out paperwork. Then we waited, not too long considering they were on a delay. *be warned, the appointment time is not your jump time!* Getting harnessed up, we met the men who would be in charge of our lives, Sam and Larry. Both were friendly and talkative and made us feel at ease with everything. We opted for the video package and I haven't seen it yet (we just dived today) but I know it'll be amazing - like the jump! After getting prepped, we got in their truck and drove over to the air field where our plane was waiting. It's tiny so be prepared to be squished! After flying for what seemed like ages, my instructor, Sam, gave me my goggles, opened the door and told me to put my feet out. All I can remember after that is falling, laughing, smiling and then the chute opening. It was all so seamless that my mind didn't have time to be afraid! Sam definitely made me feel at ease as well. They even let you control the parachute for a bit! To cut this short, if you're having reservations about skydiving - do it with these guys. They'll make you feel at home, laugh you out of a plane and help you cross one more thing off your bucket list. :) Y'all are the best! read more

I went for 30th birthday because apparently I needed to learn to be brave and embrace life. I was genuinely horrified for the 8 days following up to the jump. When I got there I was lost in my own head. They were so chill and laid back. Not thrilled about that at first, but it turned out to be really helpful. You eventually slide into their vibe. I jumped with Larry. He was super calm but still informative and confident. Tim jumped with the other gal and he was so much fun to watch and listen to. Two different personalities that made for the perfect experience. It was an incredible adventure. Out of this world rad. I would recommend it to anyone. Great company. I'd totally go back to them if I ever decided to fall out of a plane again. read more

So this is a review from 2 years ago for my birthday. Didn't use Yelp then, but just went paragliding which triggered the thought to write the review. Our mid morning jump time got pushed to early morning around 7am due to weather conditions. We did have a small wait as 2 people go up at a time, but understandable due to weather conditions. Actually didn't mind the wait too much as we talked with the people that had just jumped and watched their videos. Funny enough a son was taking his mom for her birthday. The flight up was fun and filled with anticipation as this was my first jump. I believe we jumped from 10,000 feet. The moment they opened the door is when everything gets serious. You get to do a front flip out of the plane and then a bunch of spins during free fall. Can't remember the guys names as it was two years ago, but they made it a fun birthday experience. Bought the PAS Groupon and regret it. Terrible customer service on the phone, and no email response to my questions. Tried to reserve 2 slots for tandems on Easter with four days in advance, they told me all slots were booked for 3 months, and weekdays were filled for 3 weeks. Went on their website and it showed slots open all day under Parachutes Over Phoenix (not sure the connection or affiliation). Other posts on their Facebook timeline show the same problem, yet when paying for the Groupon it doesn't make it very apparent that there will be so many complications. Highly recommend avoiding the Groupon. Just go to Eloy and see the guys at Skydive AZ. They won't mislead you like this and their operation is larger and more efficient! -J read more

I've given myself a couple days and I still can't seem to find the words to describe my experience, other than absolutely incredible. This was the most amazing experience I've ever had and my only hope is that everyone can experience this feeling at least once in their life. All of my expectations were exceeded and I loved everyone I came into contact with at Phoenix Area Skydiving. I can't thank Tim enough for being so great. He was personable and made me feel comfortable and calm even though I was a nervous wreck. He had my full trust and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else strapped to my back jumping out of a plane. Sam was also great and definitely added to my experience as well. It just so happened that we were the last jumps of the day and we unexpectedly caught the sunset which was insane! We had such a beautiful view and the moment my feet hit the ground, I wanted to go right back up. I can already say I'm 120% addicted and I truly cannot wait to do it again. OK, so here I am, 57 years old. Getting up there in years, but don't really feel my age. What's a guy to do? Hey I know... Lets go skydiving. I had been thinking of this for a few months and low and behold, I get a Groupon coupon for Phoenix Area Skydiving. So on the appointed day, the Mrs. and I head on out to Casa Grande and meet Randy. He is one of the main guys there. He has me fill out about 10 or 20 pages of waivers. I then get to meet my jump partner, Sasha. Now Sasha is a pretty laid back, wild haired, mid 20 something. As we wait for the plane to refuel, we chat and I get pretty comfortable with him. He may be young, but he has experience. We go out to the runway and board old blue, which I think is a Cessna 172. We get up to about 12000 feet and jump. Now remember I am no spring chicken. I was sitting next to the door, but when strapped to Sasha, I got one leg out, and could not bend the other far enough to get it out. Sasha grabbed it, helped it out the door and we jumped. This is such an awesome location to jump! And these guys were great. I had jumped before, but I think first timers would feel pretty much at ease jumping here. If you are considering jumping, try these guys. I am sure you will like. PS. If you do jump, buy the video package! read more

Then spent a couple hours watching people from around the world skydiving. Couldn't believe how fast the pros come zooming in! For my first skydiving experience, I really had no clue what to expect. I was planning on being nervous from the second I walked through the door until I touched ground again. From the second I walked in the door at Phoenix Area Skydiving, I was put at ease. The people working where all really chill, fun and relaxed, and made me feel comfortable and excited. They seemed like they were having fun, so I knew I'd have fun too. The jump was AMAZING! My tandem skydive partner was a real pro, and he walked me through the process step by step in such a relaxed way that there was no way I'd be worried - I knew he'd take care of us on the way down.
