My kids had an amazing time doing an 8-week baseball camp with Phoenix Sports! I saw my 6 and 8 year old improve a TON in their abilities to throw, catch, and hit. My 8 year old loves baseball and wants to play so bad, but we can't commit to the 4 day practice/game commitment of Little League, and it's hard to find any other baseball programs around this area for elementary aged kids. My 8 year old was a little old for the 5-7 program, but Coach allowed him to still participate since there were other 7 year olds in it. He had such a great time! It was a very positive environment, Coach gave good tips to improve technique, and his assistant coaches were kind and talented; I think they were high school kids who play on teams. It's always great to see older kids investing time in the younger generation. I highly recommend this program! read more

We first heard about Phoenix Sports through my daughter's school enrichment program and are so glad we did. From the very beginning, our experience has been amazing. I spoke with Coach Donald Duck (Doug), and he was incredibly kind and willing to come out to our neighborhood to host a class. Unlike other programs we have tried that required a minimum number of participants, Coach Doug's main focus was simply teaching and coaching the kids. His passion really shines through. He is wonderful with the children. He is friendly, kind, and even a little silly to keep them engaged, while still having the right balance of discipline. He teaches the kids to listen, follow directions, and be kind to one another. Best of all, he actually teaches them real skills for the sport. It is not just running around. He designs fun games that incorporate the skills they are learning, which keeps the kids excited and motivated. Overall, Phoenix Sports has been such a positive experience for our family. We are definitely planning to continue with them and cannot wait to try out the other sports they offer. read more

Coach Donald Duck has been laidback and easy to converse with logistically. He does his best to reply and remember all the credits for missed classes. This is exceptional since any other extracurricular policies don't allow make up classes. That alone is what makes it easy as a parent to have that level of understanding and trust knowing your money won't be wasted here. My daughter loved this program and we had the opportunity for Saturdays and at the Goddard School. She started at age 2 and kept becoming a stellar star student with Coach Dino (had to leave for military) and Coach Donald Duck. They teach kids about rewards and earning Phoenix Dollars where you earn and save for prizes at the end of class. My daughter absolutely enjoyed this incentive! Overall we would highly recommend trying out this program early on around 2-3 year old. I personally enjoy the non competitive atmosphere but appreciate the structure of practice/drills. My son has been in the soccer program for almost 6 months now and also recently started baseball. The program is great, coach Donald Duck is great and the high school students that help coach the kids are great. What a gift this is for our young kids to be co-taught by friendly, kind, high performing, engaged teenagers. In child development this is considered mixed-age play between teenagers and younger children and it provides significant, bidirectional developmental benefits, fostering nurturing leadership in teens and accelerated skill acquisition in younger children. It promotes empathy, reduces competitiveness, and enhances social-emotional, cognitive, and motor skills in a supportive, natural, and low-stress environment. They also practice real drills to enhance the kid's soccer and baseball skills. This program is credit based, meaning if your kid is sick or you go on vacation for a week, then you don't lose that class credit and can use it for a make-up class or the next session. Coach Donald Duck not only teaches the kids, but truly cares about them as well as making the experience as enjoyable and enriching as possible. He is also great with the parents and always comes to chat with us before and after practice. We have worked with Coach Donald Duck for about 2 years. We have participated in his soccer classes as well as summer camp! My 5 and 3 yo boys are learning more than just how to play soccer! They are also learning valuable life skills: Listening to other adults, respecting their peers, how to interact with different people, following directions, money management. The camps and classes are super flexible. You can either build your own schedule by picking the amount of classes or roll over credits if you do miss a class. Camp last summer was fantastic too. My oldest son had so much fun. They did science experiments, tie dyed, did crafts and played a variety of sports. He didn't know anyone when he went, but they made sure to help him connect! We have definitely enjoyed our time with Phoenix Sports and we are excited to see what else Coach Donald Duck and his team can help teach my boys!! read more

I learned about this camp on one of the mom's Facebook pages. Glaring reviews, I decided to enroll my kids in the camp. Upon arrival Coach Donald Duck and the other coaches were present but when I picked my kids up I didn't see him or other "adult" age (+21+) coaches on-site. Most of the couches were minors, high school aged and I believe one was his kid. What disappointed me the most was walking up on Day 2 and seeing my kids sitting with a young adolescent coach having a "would you rather" conversation with my 5 and 6 year old kids. I walked up to "would you rather live forever or blah blah, and then hearing the coach explain the pro and cons to my kids. Of course as I looked around Donald wasn't there nor could I find another coach who appeared to on the mature side of life. I didn't send my kids to camp to talk about death, and I don't think those type of conversations are age appropriate especially being facilitated by someone who is not their parents or close family member. I don't think I would return for the sake of lack of older coaches on site in the afternoons and the exposure to conversations that my child has been exposed to. I understand you can't protect your kids from everything they hear in the real world, but there is a level of professionalism and awareness that I would expect from a coach. I will note that my kids were tired and covered in sand everyday I picked them up, so if you're looking to wear your kids out at a camp, I guess this camp at the public park does achieve that goal. read more

We hired Douglas for my son's 5th birthday party and he and his assistant coach were amazing! Kids ranged in age from 5-8 with about 30 participants and they all had a blast. They did obstacle courses, baseball and ended with a parents vs kids dodgeball game. 90 minutes of activities for the kids while the parents were able to just hang back and watch. I found them via Yelp reviews so wanted to write my own just to reinforce how great Douglas was! Will definitely be using them again in the future! read more
