This is a small mom and pop kind of Vietnamese restaurant. There was a line when i got there but it went fast. The waiter was friendly and got us a table to share with others (there were less than 10 tables). I didn't know what to order but the cashier was patient to explain and made suggestions. I ended up ordering a house special pho, beef pho and a Vietnamese coffee. I didn't want onions and cilantros and they cooked bean sprouts per my request. The regular size was enough for me. The broth wasn't too salty like many other places. The Vietnamese coffee was a bit on the bitter side but i liked it. The combination of food quality, service and the price is definitely worth the visit.

Quick service. Good quality pho hit the spot on a cooler day. Only note is that the spicy isn't particularly spicy. Staff greeted several folks like they were regulars. Seems like a good place and the food was good.

A cozy downtown Vancouver pho spot with genuinely kind, welcoming service! Probably the best service I've had at a pho restaurant. The broth is flavorful and unique, and the prices are honestly unbeatable for this area. There are only about six tables, so it feels intimate, and it's clear takeout is very popular here. Their bánh mì is served on a soft brioche bun for just $7, which is hard to find downtown. This place is a true staple and easy go-to. Pros Exceptionally kind service Flavorful, unique pho broth Unbeatable prices for downtown Cozy, intimate space Great takeout option $7 bánh mì on brioche bun Cons Very limited seating Fills up quickly during peak hours

Pholicious has been around for a long time. It used to be a hole-in-the-wall on W Hastings but they've moved on up to W Pender into a larger space where you can actually eat in. For food, its still the same quick, smaller portions, good for take out and if you need a quick meal. Order at the till, let them know if you are dine-in or take-out and seat yourself situation. For the location, it is one of the most affordable places to grab lunch for just over $10 and still fills you up and is satisfying. Their House Special Pho has a variety of meat including lemongrass chicken that isn't usually the case with other pho locations. I recently got mine with medium spicy but I think next time I'll stick with no spicy since the flavor of the broth comes through better without the spice. I dined in this time and was happy to see they aren't serving the dine-ins with plastic bowls and utensils anymore. If you're in a hurry for take out, you can preorder online. Normally I come in and cut the line to let them know I'm here for my take out order so I don't end up waiting in line which would defeat the purpose of preordering online.

We enjoy ethnic foods given the opportunity. Found this nearby to our hotel downtown walking distance. We walked over around 5:30pm today Friday. We were warmly greeted by the staff. Instructed to scan the QR code for the menu as pictures of the food are provided. Or look at the chalkboard menu hung above the order counter. The restaurant has a small footprint. Two tables of four and four tables of two. What impressed us were the frequent number of repeat customers who were greeted as they entered. Many to go orders. What we ordered- * hubby ordered XL house special pho. * daughter & I went with the special vermicelli. Comes with pork, chicken, and an egg roll. Service was quick and efficient. The three of us enjoyed our food. Portion sizes were moderate but very satisfying. We would return if we're ever in the area again.

Price is very reasonable compared to absurdly high prices you see at places these days. Broth is clean and flavorful - a little on the sweet side, which I actually prefer. But not too sweet where you feel dizzy. Very well done. Beef slices are good quality meat. Customer service (owner?) is top notch. I love that the place is small. It is cozy and perfect atmosphere for busy pho restaurants.

House Special: rare beef, beef balls and chicken

Very tasty and hearty Pho with a great price. You can eat a large bowl for $15, a deal in Vancouver. I enjoyed their House Special which has my favorites, rare beef and beef balls but with an added bonus: chicken. The meat was tender and flavorful. The facility is clean with very friendly service. Beware, their location is in an area with a high rate of homeless and if the door is open and the wind is just right....

    Vegetarian Wonton Noodle Soup

I was walking by actually on my way to somewhere else but their menu in the window caught my eye and I decided to give them a chance. It's a little stuffy inside but the staff was so nice!! They have lots of vegan options and even had a veggie wonton noodle soup on special, which you never see unless you're at a dedicated vegetarian restaurant! So I decided to try that. I thought it was very good! The wontons had a light but umami veggie (maybe mushroom?) filling and a thin but tender skin. On first taste I was not particularly impressed by the broth but with some stirring to distribute the "sediment" it was more flavourful. Lots of veggies. I got the regular size (which is the smallest size - it's regular, large, or XL) and was pretty full. The value is great - I can't remember the last time I paid $10 for this much food downtown, but it's actually quality stuff. I will note that they serve all the cold drinks (besides water) in plastic to-go cups, which takes away major presentation marks. Highly recommended for anyone craving no frills Vietnamese with bonus friendly service, especially for vegetarians/vegans!

House special pho and spring rolls

I was staying in Vancouver and wanted to eat Vietnamese noodles so I Googled it and the reviews were good so I came here around 5 pm on Wed. I ordered the House special pho and spring rolls. Both were bland, especially the Pho. I left the store feeling somewhat disappointed.

    Chicken Pho & Mega Sandwich
    James L.

When I say this is the best pho that I've ever had, I am not saying that lightly. It was a rainy day right after Christmas and I walked around the corner from my hotel into the store. The staff and employees were incredibly friendly and helpful navigating the menu. They helped me determine my spice level and encourage me to get a sandwich with the regular bowl of pho so I can try everything. The pho had so much chicken and the chicken had the skin on it. It had white meat. It had dark meat. It had all of the components that you want in a bowl of pho. Then the sandwich was the perfect combo because it helped me fill up on a colder day, but also enjoy every aspect of this restaurant has to offer. BEST PART - Pricing incredibly reasonable. I will be back tomorrow to try more.

I have been here only pick up and always feel pleasant while waiting. I could see their food is very reasonable (and tasty!) In downtown and nowadays it could be the main reason to visit this tiny restaurant. To be honest, I didn't expect warm hospitality first but people here are different. Very well mannered and kind. Good customer service too.

I appreciated the good service and chill atmosphere, but not sure if I would come back. I would say that their house made spicy was really good. A mix of sweet, sour, and spicy. Had a brightness to it yet also very, very spicy. Tastes great on many of the dishes, especially if you wanted a nice "kick" to the food. I believe you can order a jar to take home if you wish.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. The Garden Rolls were absolutely the #1 worst ones we've ever eaten! We've had hundreds of fresh rolls at dozens of places and sadly, none were as tasteless as these. They consisted of noodles, a bit of flavorless tofu and cucumber. Fresh rolls MUST have at least one or more of the following: fresh mint, fresh cilantro or fresh Thai Basil. Hestia's had NONE!. To add insult to injury, the watery sauce also had NO flavor. To add more insult, they were baggy and poorly wrapped and the innards kept falling out. Not fun and definitely not good. The king oyster mushrooms were very good, but there was a ton of pink mayo dousing it. I would have preferred the sauce be in a separate bowl so we could choose how much dipping we'd like to do. The saffron tofu bowl was sensational! Perfectly spiced and full of a huge variety of well-cooked veggies plus the saffron rice was good too. No one came during our meal to ask if we needed anything or to ask how our meal was. The customer service is in need of some work.
