I love the beef pho here! Not sure why one of the reviewers things it's expensive, because it is only $7.50 for an enormous bowl of super-tasty soup. The soup is obviously lovingly prepared, and has no MSG, only good, delicious broth with good, delicious noodles and beef [if you are having the beef pho], fresh sprouts, with or without cilantro and/or hot pepper. Yes, it is small, but the taste and quality more than make up for the size of the restaurant. A person can even bring their own container for take-out. The staff make an effort to remember patron's names and greet each customer as soon as they walk into the establishment. I recommend it highly, even though I would like to keep it to myself ;) read more

I was in the neighbourhood and found this place on Yelp. The business was easy to spot as it had bright upbeat signage. It was on Saturday afternoon and it was suprisingly busy (its located in business area of Vancouver). I was greeted and helped right away by very friendly woman who was the owner. I ordered Seafood Pho. The lady said its going to take about 5-7 min and that I can wait at the loby upstairs. I picked up the food in exactly 7 min. I have to say it was very reasonably priced at $7.50! Since the area of the business is fairy small I had my pho across the street at the newly renovated food court beside SFU. The pho was full of flavor, fresh and delicious! I am sure im coming back next weekend! read more

Been here a few times, the service and the food never disappoints! Super friendly staff and they seem to remember all the regulars who stop by. This place is incredible. I regularly get the veggie and tofu pho and the avocado salad roll (around $10 total) and everything is fresh and lovingly prepared. All the condiments and cutlery are neatly organized, making it a perfect take-out option. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. My only lament is the amount of packaging involved that I wish were compostable. Next time I'll ask about bringing in my own container. read more

I just tried this place , I've got the Special Pho and came back the day after for sandwich. All I can say is Pholicious is delicious, healthy, tasty and fast , oh I'm from north Vietnam and their pho is authentic just like my mom made at home , this new restaurant is my new place to come when hungry . Unexpectedly, in my search of the nearest retailer of Phö, I met one of the kindest souls I have ever acquainted whom serves the most honest Phö I have ever tasted. Bethany Tran, one of the owners of Pholicious, met me and my friend with the most earnest smile. Guided by our stomachs and enticed by the surrounding atmosphere -- which exuded the energy of a home more rather than a business -- her amiable nature was so welcoming and highly representative of her cousine. She cooks without MSP, carefully, diligently, and passionately studying every inch of the food she prepares for you. She does this, because she cares. Although business may not be flourishing (considering the fact that it's a small-family owned café located in a not so lucrative area) she ensures a fair helping is provided to her customers. The food itself was delicious and felt very nurturing. Her phö was neither bland nor too savoury, and it was loaded with intense -- gratifying -- flavours. She really seems to love the idea of cooking, of providing, for other people and it was a pleasure to have become her customer. Not to mention the fact that I arrived five minutes until closing, yet she still provided absolutely 100% of her care and attention. The first time I came into this place, I was welcomed warmly by the owner. I was impressed by their subs - they are fresh, delicious and a great deal! I have since tried their pho and grilled chicken and I give them thumbs up every time. The owner now greets me by name as I visit often (along with many others from my office across the street.) The people who run this place are some of the most genuine and kind around! They're always smiling and always take the time to get to know you and chat with you. Very pleasant to stumble upon. Awesome food, and what a great bunch of ladies that work their. After going there only 2 times when I arrive they know my name and know what I like to order and how I like it prepared. Highly recommend this place. It is busy so be prepared to wait, its well worth it. note: if your waiting its always nice to help them keep the tables clean out side in the little area they have outside the restaurant, they are so busy inside preparing orders that they dont have time to clean up right away...so lend a hand, they notice this and appreciate this. This small, quaint restaurant is a great package. Yes, it's quite cramped in there (so wouldn't recommend eating in unless outside seating is available, but even then it might be tight) but the food is so darn tasty. It's an MSG-free Vietnamese restaurant that gives you cheaper/average prices for dishes that are worth your buck. Some of the great dishes include the Pho and the grilled chicken sub (they have a really delicious spread that I don't know the name of). The only thing that I'm disappointed by is the small portion of the spring rolls, as well as the cramped space. The staff there is friendly; especially the cashier and you can see that she often has regulars because they both remember each other by name, and she remembers their orders at times as well if they often purchase the same thing. It is quite close to Waterfront station, which places it in convenience to travel. Many people come in, from business people to students (it's across from the SFU building). I've brought friends to eat there and they really liked it; they liked the vegetarian options as well. Since there's no option for half stars, would give this restaurant 4.5/5. We saw all the positive reviews and decided to try this place while we were in Vancouver. We purchased close to $30 worth of food, stepped outside and promptly threw everything away in the nearest trash can. This is a small place and you can clearly see how the food is being prepared. We came early on a weekend and ordered two coffees, two bowls of pho and a spring roll. There were two people preparing the food and we saw one person grab raw chicken with her gloved hands and grabbing ice for our coffee with the same gloved hands. Then we watched the other person prepping raw beef on the counter space and using the same gloves and counter to cut our spring rolls. We left feeling grossed out and regretted ever finding this place... to be fair, we never tried the food so I can't speak to how good that is. I would just warn people to keep an eye on how your food is being handled if coming here. read more

Cute little hidden gem on Hastings in front of the SFU library. There is minimal space to eat, and seems to be busy so you may need to plan to take your order to go. Yummy coffee. I had spring rolls and beef pho.. medium level of spice - it was pretty spicy but just the perfect amount. I would definitely go there again! I can understand why out of town visitors like this place. The food is good and tasty (if not a little on the more salty and oily side for the soup). The spice made the pho even tastier. The prices are relatively the same as most other pho restaurants in Vancouver. The only thing is that the portions are definitely smaller than average and you get less meat and no basil. No complimentary tea, just help yourself to tap water from the jug. No washroom and only three not so steady high stool seats to sit and dine inside. Wood tables and seats for 5 outside. Pleasant and very polite service. It was nice to try this place once but we won't be back as there are still better pho places in Vancouver. read more

This is a great little joint located on the first floor of the Delta Hotel in downtown. The service was overwhelmingly friendly. The pho was perfectly done with just the right amount of spiciness and they even included an extra spicy chili sauce on the side (since I requested spicy) which I definitely appreciated. This place gives the best bang for your buck for pho at $7.50 a bowl. It's flavour is one of the best balanced out there and I've been to most of the best pho joints according to yelp. Must try. I've had so many phos in my life so far but this one is the best. I had beef noodles for lunch and all about beef noodle for dinner at the same day because it was my last day of Vancouver. Never get sick of it and of course it was worth it. This place is really tiny little size but the pho they serve is full of taste and soooo good. Every single ingredient is so fresh and nice combination. Tbh i'm not a big fan of pho but now I could say it's one of my favorite for sure. If I come to Vancouver again and ask me what makes me bring here I would say Pholicious. Plus welcoming hospitality is one of good factors of this place as well! You should try this. This pho made me being a die hard fan of pho. They deserve to get more than 5 stars! read more

I work in the neighbour and this is my go to place for a fast, fresh lunch! My favourite is the special sub - Banh mi. How can you go wrong at $5.00? The Pho is delicious too! The best thing about this place is Bethany! She takes the time to make each person feel special and welcome. It's amazing how many of her clients she knows by name and what they like to eat. small and very dirty hole in the wall. owner tried to overcharge me $4 for a pre-lunch rush hour meal. over the top fake friendliness to try and make up for it. all of this wouldn't matter if the soup was good, but sadly the quality is very low. the broth is so obviously msg/powder based. no hint of anise or fish sauce or anything really. just vague murky grey water. the salad roll was passable, but oily and filled out too much with rice noodles. so disappointed by the disconnect between the reviews here and the reality. the Vietnamese fare in Pacific Centre is better than this joint, many times over, and Vina is not that great either. sad to see small businesses that have a lot of potential headed for burnout and ruin because of a lack of some fundamentals. cleanliness should be high on the list of priorities. the floor was caked in filth as though it hadn't been mopped properly since opening. just because there is some traffic from the office worker set doesn't mean they'll be loyal to your sub par standards once a competitor moves in. wish small restaurant owners in the dt core understood this better. there'd be much less bankruptcy/turnover. read more
