Both of my kids received the worst school photos they have ever taken. We just moved from out of state (Oregon to Texas) where even though I have a child with special needs, photographers have worked hard to make sure they have the best photos possible. My neurotypical child didn't even have a chance to smile for his photo and looked like he was waiting for instruction before being rushed away. My special needs child blinked for his photo and it was chosen. Every year his previous photographers got him eyes open and smiling. I feel like my children were rushed for quick money. I understand that they have to take a lot of photos of the kids, but they should still have an ounce of professionalism when it comes to photography. Worst school pictures ever. Last year my sons kindergarten picture was horrendous. This year his first grade pics along with my younger son's kindergarten pics are horrific. These are supposed to be special pics you send to all your family and keep forever?! Both of my sons are super photogenic so how can you possibly take such bad pictures?!!! Just received our team/individual photos from my daughters high school soccer team. The photos, I hate to say, are horrible. The composition, the lighting, and the post processing are all terrible; almost non-existent. Technically, the aperture used was too narrow for a group shot so people on the outsides are out of focus. The goal in the background isn't even centered, and we have a beautiful view of the parking lot IN the background, in which the cars are more in focus than the players. This isn't difficult. This is photography 101. You cannot charge people and hand out poorly composed/lit photos. If I knew these were the photos I just paid $40 for, I would have gladly passed and done them myself. read more

The photographer from Antigua was this amazing breath of fresh air that made my anxiety driven with low self esteem, daughter feel at ease and beautiful. You knew she loved her job!!! They do tend to be a bit hurried when covering some events which is the reason they are being given 4 stars and not 5. It may be do to the fact that they are shooting tons of kids and school events. My husband and I have been VERY pleased with Fall photos the 2 times they have been done for our kid(s). We actually use the fall photos for Xmas gifts and also keep an 8x10 for our "through the years" photo wall that will have photos Kinder through 12th grade for each kid. The Spring photos were just recently taken... i am honestly interested to see the class photo but afraid i might cry because not sure how much Covid masks will be in the pictures. They refused to issue one at that time, because they said I had to take delivery of the photos, then return them, and then they could issue a refund. This company required you to order and pay before the picture of your kids being taken. Now I got the picture, the quality is terrible. My son is not even smiling right. As a professional photographer, they should have instructed the kid to look at the camera and smile. Now I got stuck with this ugly picture. Terrible customer service. I was charged 2x for my daughter's school photos. So I've paid over $100.00 for absolutely the poorest quality pictures. I've NEVER been happy with Photo Texas Photography. Unfortunately my daughter's volleyball also used them and her hair was almost an orange color and it was photo shopped and part of her hair was missing!!! I've called for over a month to get a refund and NO surprise no one ever answers the phone. I think we need to start telling the schools and sports teams to find another company to use. read more

I can only speak about their Houston location, as they took my daughter's picture at her school. For a "small fee" of about $40, we received some of the worst pictures I have ever seen of my daughter. Her head position was not natural, her facial expression was forced, her smile was like she's never had before. Small water stains on her shirt could have been corrected in seconds, should someone cared... Yes, the colors were correct. Yes, the face is in focus. Yes, the white balance was about right. And yes, the lighting was reasonable. My daughter herself with her point and shoot could have done these. But overall, the results are abysmal. She looks like her neck was twisted in a weird position and someone is threatening her to smile. There is no smile in her eyes and she is always a very happy person (except in these pictures). I would have NEVER purchased these if I could have seen the results before I paid. The so called "photographer" who took these has no idea what he/she is doing. It was just a person pushing a button, without using anything between his/her ears. It was just someone doing a job, a poor job, rushing to get it done and overcharging for it. Unlike a previous reviewer, Kanc S, I am a photographer, even though I do not do this for a living. The pictures I discard as junk look better than what your "photographer" sold me. I will make every effort to convince the School Board and HISD to drop your company and use someone else, who can provide a decent result. Received my son's pictures and there's oatmeal on his face and something between his teeth. He's in kindergarten and ate breakfast and school and nobody fixed him up. From their website, two parts specifically address this: "My student eats breakfast at school. What if she gets pancakes on her face? Our photographers are prepared with wet wipes and hair combs, and they do everything they can to make each student look their very best for their moment in front of the camera. Schools also have amazing teachers and parent volunteers who help with this process (contact your school if you're interested in being a parent helper on portrait day)." "Relax! Always poor quality prints. They look like they were printed for a grainy magazine. Had three years of these awful quality photos while my daughter was in middle school. Now she's in high school and I was hoping it was just the middle school (because her elementary used a better photography company), but no. High school uses them too. Great. I would love to know why ya'll think it is acceptable or that it looks good to use trash as back drops for kids photos. The last 3 or 4 sets of photos for school pictures all had junk in the background and this time was the worst. Some nasty ugly colored pieces of wood that should be on a burn pile not in a picture. How can you justify the high prices you want to charge people for these photos and have trash as back drops. Come on already. Get some actual backdrops that look good. When my kids come home and hand me my money back and say mom you don't want to buy these pictures they look disgusting, there is a problem. We had them last year and who ever takes them does not say anything to the kids before or tell them to sit up straight or fix anything that might cause them to not look ready. I remember in my school years there was a person who had a comb,and towels to tidy you up and tell you to smile. I had to drive across town to get it redone at there studio and it took more time to drive than to take them. They came out really shine and the color was really bright. What happened to Life touch! Wish I could give NO stars! Freshman son received picture order form. Prepaid online on Sept 12th...$30 for one of the smallest packages. On October 3rd, after reviewing the email confirmation I noticed they had the wrong school listed for my son. At that point, I sent an email to make sure it was corrected, never heard back. On October 11th, I sent another email and still never heard anything. So, I called the Austin office on October 25th and spoke with Cathy. I apologized for bothering her but hoped she could help and I explained that my son had pictures done and wanted to make sure they were sent to the correct school. I told her that the email confirmation listed the wrong school and that I had emailed a couple of times but heard nothing back. She immediately became defensive and RUDE, saying that she personally answers ALL emails. I reiterated that I had sent two and she cut me off, asking for my email. She said that she saw my order for my son and the school. I said that was great, that I was just wanting to follow up since the email confirmation listed the wrong school and hadn't received any reply to my email inquires. She again cut me off and said, WHAT CONFORMATION? I told her ma'am, I prepaid online and the confirmation listed the wrong school. Cutting me off again, she said, well then YOU listed the wrong school! At this point I was done, I said, ma'am I just want to make sure my son will receive his pictures! She said yes, I said thank you and hung up. I can't believe that any company could run a business with that kind of customer service. No wonder they have poor ratings and reviews. Poor service. We paid for our son's photos by check. They held on to the check for two months before taking it to the bank. In that time, we had relocated and had to change banks; thereby closing the old account. For a $13.00 check, they sent me directly to a collection service and the $13.00 crappy photo became a $50 mistake. I received no notice from them first. I completely understand that they receive hundreds of checks at a time in any given school photo shoot and even understand, sort of, their desire to have a check service company. I also know that when I call to explain the situation and see if I could write them a new check and they say...sorry, you have to deal with the collection service, there's nothing we can do, that is just bad business. I needed some additional photos so I had to place an online order months after the pictures were taken. The good part was, the pictures were still available for purchase. The bad part is while the pictures were $13.00, the shipping was $8.00. Completely outrageous shipping charges. In the future I will be sure to buy enough pictures in the initial order so I'm not charged for shipping. There is also not a place for an online coupon or promotional code that would have helped save some money on the shipping charges. They really screw you on shipping - so beware. read more

Tried to call to resolve but was put on hold for a long time so I submitted a contact form via the website. And the photos are printed on posterboard-type paper. Terrible photos. Terrible customer service. Called three times to get our son's photos processed. First time, they fouled up his name and didn't send to process. Second time, got the name right but forgot to send to lab. Third time, sent to lab late and won't be sent in mail for couple more weeks. This would put our photos at nearly a 2 month wait. Okay photos. These are taken twice a year in our school district. Two stars because in order to get what you want you have to order a more expensive "package" of photos filled with things you **don't** want. There are smaller packages - like just 2 5x7s, which we'd love to be able to order - but they're "add-ons with purchase of package only" - so we can't. So we end up ordering 2 3x5s... 2 2x3s ... 4 mini-wallets ... and 2 5x7s. This is a major scam towards all parents whose children's schools use this service, and a waste of paper to print the photos we'll never use. This situation could be easily changed by Photo Texas, if they were environmentally conscious and cared at all - but year after year it is the same. read more

This outfit is a real racket. Our kid's elementary school has used them for the past couple years, and I feel their prices are ridiculous. My kid's spring school picture, taken the same day as her class group picture, shows her sitting on an ugly wood and metal stool in an unnatural, stiff looking pose. On the paper order form that shows the proofs, the headshot and body shots are obviously "photoshopped" against all sorts of cheesy, fake looking backgrounds, including a white brick wall (???). However, when I went on their website, there were more package and individual item options available, plus her head/body shots shown against the traditional blue background, which is what I'd order...IF I decide to place an order. Why the discrepancy between choices offered on the paper order form and the website? I really wish the school would use a different photo company. read more
