Unfortunately, since then she's been so busy it has impossible to get a hold of her. We purchased a package of 5 sessions (maternity, newborn, 4 months, 8-9 months, and 1 year) and paid in advance. We struggled to schedule the 6 months session and then were not able to schedule the following sessions. My daughter is 19 months old and she still owes us two more sessions. I've given up at this point - no method of contact works - I've tried emailing, calling, texting and FB Messenger - she just doesn't respond. I'm very happy with the photos we got from the sessions we had with her, but very disappointed at how unprofessional she has been in following up on her contract. I would recommend not paying up front if you work with her, just to protect your investment in case she does not follow through. She has had a lot of challenges in her personal life, so that may the cause, but I still think it's unacceptable not to respond. If she is unable to meet, issuing a refund would have been a courteous gesture.

That said, after being a little disappointed with my daughter's six-month photo shoot results, I went in search of a new photographer for her nine-month/family session. Luckily for us, we found Tony. He impressed me from the beginning with his responsiveness and the instant willingness to do an outside photo shoot in December. Tony has an amazing eye for detail and carefully explained how he wanted to set up the various shots. He has a way of making you feel at ease and like you're not posing. My husband enjoys photography as a hobby, and Tony was generous with his tips and tricks. The results were amazing! He was able to capture her little personality beautifully. He answered all our calls, emails and questions promptly throughout the whole process, from booking to receiving our final photos! During our session we discovered how very warm and clearly passionate he is about what he does. We would even go so far as to call him the "baby whisperer". We were so impressed with how gentle and patient he was in handling our 14 day old newborn girl and his ability to swaddle and calm her so adeptly. We were so grateful to have the professional detailed handout on what to expect during the session and how to prepare. It just made it so much easier for us to know how the morning would go and what we could do to make it as pleasant of an experience for our baby and ourselves. On the morning of the shoot he was exactly on time. For us new parents trying to balance preparing with everything from nursing, eating breakfast, getting ready, and twelve other things, it was so appreciated that he was neither early nor late, the timing was just perfect. Tony is nothing if not prepared, he came with his bag of goodies and brought a good variety of baskets, outfits, wraps, backdrops, and even professional lighting equipment for our shoot so that we would receive a variety of unique photos and poses. He even brought a custom travel themed backdrop and setup after we had mentioned how much how much we love to travel! He was very flexible and patient during our shoot and even extended the session since we lost some extra time due to changing, feeding and general fussiness from our newborn. They are very easy to work with. Patrick and Jessie picked a beautiful location, and they were both so patient while I futzed with my toddler son's clothes and hair. (Speaking of hair, seriously if I could get Jessie to come to my house and do my hair like that every day, I would do it. Girl is skilled. And my makeup. I never like when someone else does my makeup, but she made me look amazing and I loved it.) The shoot was easy and fun. Patrick gave great suggestions and made me feel very comfortable in front of the camera. The photos of myself and my son are amazing; this is a really talented team. Their rates are SUPER reasonable. They provide excellent service and gorgeous photos for incredibly reasonable prices. My husband and I first asked them to do a nice couples portrait for us on the UC Berkeley campus. We had never done any sort of portraits before (y'know, beyond those stiff, cheesy school photos back in the day), so we were a little nervous to start. Justin and his wife/assistant Dana immediately put us at ease with their friendly, professional manner. After a few shots my husband and I relaxed, and we got some wonderful photos to share as Xmas gifts (and yes, we even did some cheesy poses for fun). We came back to them a few years later for newborn photos for our first child. We arranged for them to visit us in the hospital, and I treasure those pictures above all others taken in that period. I had a difficult and unpleasant experience in the hospital (but that's for another Yelp review), but when I look at Justin's beautiful photos all I remember were the good moments, and how much Justin and Dana's calm, friendly visit cheered me up. They came to our home a few weeks later for part two of our newborn portrait package. Again, their bright manner made the afternoon special and fun. They did some lovely "candid" shots of us feeding our baby, then some more posed shots of the baby with some fun props they'd brought. As parents themselves, they know how to calmly and easily deal with a little newborn, and our little guy was as relaxed as a month-old could be. The pictures turned out AMAZING. I had Galen come to my shop early this year to do a photo shoot for some advertising that I had planned. He came out multiple times to check his settings and ensure that he would have the right equipment for the job the day of the shoot. Took pictures of different areas of the shop at different times of the day. To say that Galen was well prepared would be an understatement. To say that Galen is extremely talented would also be an understatement. He was very prompt, and accurate with his timeline and schedule. After Galen had come out and asked several questions he began to make his plan. His vision for what he saw for the work I required far exceeded my expectations. He explained to me what he saw for my ad. He wanted to create a story for my shop. A story that I feel perfectly represents my company and its values. He had asked me to get together several cars and types of jobs that I thought were relevant to what I wanted to portray. We set a date and a block of time that he felt he could get what he needed. He nailed it. His timing was spot on, and the quality was being anything I had imagined. His ability to make my employees, my family, and myself feel at ease in front of the camera was uncanny. He is a seasoned veteran behind which makes it possible for you to relax and feel comfortable. He was even able to get my 3 year old to stay still for some shots too, trust me no easy feat. When Galen was done with the first set of pictures he said it would be a little bit before he was done touching them up, or editing. It didn't take long. I expected it to take 2 to 3 times the amount of time that it did. I don't believe that he just didn't spend time on it, but that it was his preparedness the day of and his ability to capture his vision that made this possible. I have no doubt that there was a lot of hard work, and many hours involved as well. The hardest part of this whole experience was trying to decide on which pictures I wanted to hang in my office. Had I the room, my office would be and art gallery dedicated to Galen's talent. Somehow Galen was still able to make things easy for me. He was able to show me several variations of how my office would look with the pictures that I choose. He gave me several layouts to give me ideas of what I could expect. The one he recommended however didn't need much pushing because it stood out from the beginning. I like that he gave me several options and said I could even make my own, but was also willing to give his advice on what he thought might look good. I couldn't be happier with what we decided upon. Galen informed me 2 short weeks later, though with the anticipation seemed to drag on forever, that the art was perfectly transposed on aluminum backing had arrived and was ready to display. He made it out quickly and even leveled and hung all the pictures. Again, I couldn't be happier with his abilities. Galen's art work has been displayed in my office now for roughly 3 weeks. The reactions I receive from people walking in are priceless. Everyone that has seen it comments on it. They have a wide variety of things to say about it in the most positive way. Today, even, I had a guy come in and say that they belonged in a gallery and that Galen should be selling his artwork. When the customer and I had finished our business he actually stayed in the office for about 20 minutes admiring Galen's work. In summary, if you want the best of the best Galen is your man. He is capable of anything you can imagine and things you can't. I can't say enough good things about my business with Galen. I can tell you this. They even send us a sneak peek while we were on our honeymoon.
