We had many different dishes and shared with the whole table. All dishes were very tasty. The dumpling soup was very tasty but the vegetables were way too large and should have been cut in half from what they were. But other than that the flavors were good and cooked very well. Cooked but still crispy. There is a very extensive menu (149 items) I can remember we had beef and broccoli, sweet and sour beef, shrimp with pea pods and lastly spring rolls. Ordered for 1st time from this restaurant as it had an excellent review rating on Skip website.Food was not very hot when delivered, which is usually the case.My appetizer was hot/ sour.Hot and sour soup is my go to dish from these establishments and l can usually tell what the main course will taste like by the soup.The soup was l would say ok,not the worst but far from great.My main dish was vermicelli noodles with BBQ pork.A big disappointment, the vermicelli noodles were scarce and they compensated for lack of with some shredded lettuce/ carrotts/ cabbage.The vermicelli noodles were not what l am accustomed to,weren't great And the BBQ pork was a crusty mess of batter without any pork to be found.Overall with the abundance of great Chineese/Vietnamese restaurants in this city,l will not order from here again. Great pho and spring rolls. I am MSG sensitive, and usually asian Restaurant like to put some MSG. surprisingly I did not feel any MSG at all! if that is the case the broth that comes with the pho is the real deal. +.5 for service Winnipeg does Vietnamese restaurants very well, and this is no exception. Phuong Nam is in the NE corner of William and Arlington, with plentiful off street parking available. The neighbourhood isn't exactly the most pleasant, but the food is still good combined with great service. I had the #34 with soup, and it tasted pretty good. Not too MSG-y, and the noodles were well cooked but not overcooked. If you're tired or visited all of the Ellice/Sargent pho joints and wanna try something new, definitely consider this place. Another one of my fav Vietnamese spots! I love the pho here! The "pho tai" (#27 on the menu) is rare beef that's cooked in the hot soup filled with thin rice noodles. I love the "Banh Hoi Thit Heo Nuong" (#13) which is charbroiled pork served with rice paper, vermicelli noodles, and fresh vegetables. The pork has great flavour; the same pork is used in the rice vermicelli dish such as #50 ($8) and #52 ($7) on the menu. The rice vermicelli bowls are a great alternative if you don't want to wrap your own rice paper roll. The ice coffee (#187) here is strong and deliciously balanced with the condensed milk. The downside to this place is that service can be a tad slow even when the place isn't busy. This place gets very busy at lunch, especially on Fridays; once I had to wait over an hour with a group before we received our food. read more

Only had the pho here, but it's quite good! The broth is flavorful, not so MSGy as many places are. I'm sure it may still have some but it's not too crazy since it does have to have some saltiness to it. Meat portions were pretty ok and they weren't stingy with it, so moderate. If i had the chance, I'd come back to try other items on the menu. The space can seat a good amount though the tables are kinda close to each other. This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in town. The service is quick and the food is good. It's an added bonus that the food comes in great portion and is priced reasonably. In addition, the restaurant opens till late, which makes for a great place for late night dinner. My family and I come here all the time and we were never once disappointed with the service or food. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for Vietnamese cuisine! read more

The service is very fast. But you can tell the meat was pre-cooked and probably has been sitting there for a while. Soup is dark and don't have lots aroma. The plus side is the Durian milk shake is made of real fruit so it's very good. One day i'd return for it's milk shake but skip their noodle soup entirely. read more
