I had a terrible experience at this tailor shop and would not recommend it to anyone. I brought in 4 pieces to be altered, and when I picked them up, every single item was done incorrectly. The worst part was my two activewear pieces. They tried to use heat (like ironing/steaming) on them and ended up damaging the fabric. The material is now visibly ruined. I came back the next day to explain everything, and the owner only offered me a $20 refund even though I paid $80 total. I declined. I returned again with receipts showing the damaged items needed to be replaced, and he refused, saying the damage would "go away after 4-5 washes." I had already washed them once and the damage was still there. I shouldn't have to repeatedly wash my clothes hoping they magically fix themselves. Instead of taking responsibility, he blamed his worker but as the owner, that responsibility falls on him. Very unprofessional, poor quality work, and no accountability. Im all about supporting family run businesses but thats only when i believe in them. My husband had dropped off three pairs of jeans to have hemmed because our normal Tailor was backed up about two weeks. It was our own fault for waiting till the last minute before Thanksgiving. So, alas, we decided to try a place that was on the same block. What a mistake I should've looked at the reviews, especially after having been an elite. My husband said dropping off was great. It was the picking up that was absolutely horrific. I went in and I was told that we never dropped anything off. When you walk in, it's completely disorganized with clothes everywhere. Racks and racks of clothes with nothing but a receipt on them woth a phone number. there is no organization system by phone number or item. I could understand if each rack was specialized. One rack for jeans. One rack for dresses. One rack for clean only. But no complete chaos. The second issue I had is that there were 3 individuals working there. A husband, i assume his wife and another lady. Two of them which did not speak any English. Which made the transaction of trying to find the pants even more frustrating. I almost gave up. It took over 20 minutes for them to locate them. And lo and behold they were on the first track He searched 3X. read more

I dropped my mom's dress and picked up 4 days later at 11. When I get here they have not touched the dress at all and they told me that they are busy and $30 was too cheep to hem the dress. If I complain we refund money and return the dress they said. I did not have a choice I waited here. Their behavior and being busy for excuse are so unprofessional. I dropped off 4 polo shirts to get hemmed, they were on time the first and everything was good. So, I decided to go back for the second time and dropped of 10 polos to get hemmed. This time most of the shirts turned out good but there were a couple that had a slit on the sides and they forgot to put the slits in after they ask if I wanted to keep the slits. I was too happy but it wasn't bad. So, I decided to go back for the third time, which was a mistake, I dropped of a couple of polos and a jacket to get hemmed. Big mistake, they screwed up my North Face jacket and polos and was 2 days late. I don't recommend. read more

This place is so disorganized that I'm surprised how they find your item. Receipt has no detailed description so I advise everyone to take a picture of receipt and your item side by side. If you need your item in 10 days, tell them you needn't in 5 days because 9 out of 10, it will not be ready on the promised date. read more

It's been a love hate relationship with this place for the last 8 years. Price is right and tailoring is decent but their is zero reliability for your items getting done and even sometimes lost articles. The place is a complete organization disaster with finished and intake clothing all over the shop. It used to be better but apparently Mr Phuong has lost desire to keep up with things which I feel bad for. He's pretty much the only game in the neighborhood and has every opportunity to earn business and keep it. Our last visit was the last straw hence the post. I feel bad even leaving a poor review because he's a small business owner but coming back to find my article of clothing untouched in the promised day and he told me to come back in 39 minutes.. upon returning, another customer with the same issue, clothing lost as I waited to pay and get my clothing for an extended period of time while owner walking around dumbfounded to find the other clients item in the intake bin from 2 months previous. I love this place!! My first time I got two items hemmed just to see how it would go. I can't speak Vietnamese so there is a language barrier but I am part Viet and I'm used to struggling to communicate with my family in English since I was never taught to speak so it didn't bother me at all. I'm pretty short (5'1) so normally I steer clear of maxi dresses but I decided to take my chances because I loved this dress I wanted to wear for a wedding and boy am I glad! I can't give Phuong's a five star rating since my alterations were to be ready by Friday and I showed up on Saturday and the dress was not hemmed.... But I think he still deserves four stars for the cost and quality of work. The cost is lower than Linh's fashion alterations down the street. Previously, Linh's was about the same cost a few a years ago, but lately it seems they arbitrarily name a price for similar work. Phuong's quote for a dress hem was half the price of the quote at Linh's. Therefore, he is is my new go to for alterations, but I would recommend calling ahead to check if the alterations are ready before heading over. Even though the dress was not hemmed when I showed up, they were able to hem it within an hour and get the dress to me. I've always wanted to write a review on Phuong's after having done several trips and dropped countless slacks/pants/jeans for hemming. I'd say am one of their very first customers when they first opened for business in mid-2012. I remember walking in to their shop with just a small banner outside (which was hardly noticeable if you were driving either on Easter or on Silverado Ranch). Their interior had barely anything in it, just few chairs, couple of sewing machines and it was just Phuong and a lady (who i assumed was his wife). I think I had 4 jeans that needed hemming the first time, and I was told to pick them up the following day (back then i think they charged $7 for pants/slacks, $8 for jeans and $10 for jeans with original hem). Despite their very limited English, I didn't have any problem telling them and them understanding me how long I wanted my jeans to be. Between then (2012) and now (2018), things have changed. They've changed their shop layout, they've gotten busier due to additional volume of work, added some changing rooms, they have more machines and more employees, and there are clothes everywhere, and I think I even saw a mannequin or two. And understandably, so with their prices. I really don't mind the price increase because they still are the cheapest in town and they have yet to ruin any of my jeans/pants. I still go to them for my hemming needs at least once every quarter. Instead of picking my pants up the following day, I always wait a couple of days or more and instead of telling them the length, I learned to mark the length of my jeans/pants with safety pins. No problem! I guess am one of the very few customers who's been lucky enough to not experience what most of their customers had to go through which I could only attribute to language barrier. I've gone through different alterations from other Tailors before but I must commend and applaud Mr. Phuong for the excellent job he does to make me look my best in my "tailored" suits. I don't want to give my secret out to how I make my suits look like it fits me so well but during this pandemic I want to give my support to local and small businesses that probably need our (consumers) help more than ever. I took my evening dress to get tailored for a wedding, i picked it up the day before the event and put it on right before leaving only to find out that they had sown to the mech material that held the bottom of the dress down and not sow over it. So the mesh stuck out and literally cut me multiple times through out the night. It was extremely painful! I asked them to fix it and said they would and then asked them to dry clean it. They wanted to charge $25 so I asked for a discount. They then said $15. I called two other places to see how much they would charge and they all said $11-16. Not a very good discount for someone who has cuts all over their legs because of the poor work that was done. I paid $30 for the dress to be hemmed. Never going back. read more

I cant give them a 5 start rating because the work on my dress is just ok. I needed to have my bridesmaid dress taken up about 4 inches (vertically challenged as I am even with heels). The staff is friendly and accommodating. They do their best, only problem our there is a hard time communicating because there is little English. They did promise to have my dress done in a week and they did just that. The price was good also. Not only did I need it taken up but I also needed an arm ruffle removed that was (in typical bridesmaid dress form) ugly. They charged me $45 for both items. Not too bad for one week turn over. Davis bridal, where I bought the dress was going to charge me $65 my appt was for a month after I got the dress and it was going to take the lady a month to get my dress back to me. This would put me right at the wedding date. So if things did not turn out there was no time to do anything else. The 3 stars comes from my hem line not being even. It's about 1 inch to sort in the front and about 1 inch to long on the sides and back. I asked for a straight hem not an A-line dress. But really who is going to be looking at the bottom of my dress? If I needed anything else that is important to be done I think I might shop around a but more, but if u need just a hem and no one will notice the difference then they are an ok place to go. read more

Let me start by saying this place has potential because I think they know what they're doing alterations wise. Business wise, they are unorganized, unclean and unfriendly. They lost a paIr of my daughters pants that I left to be repaired. Originally the pants were to be done & ready for pick up but when I returned they were not ready. I went back a week later and they could not find them. After 20 minutes they finallly located them. They seemed annoyed at me that they could not find them. They have zero organization, the place is a mess and unclean. I love to support small businesses BUT they have to do their part. If they cleaned up, had a better tracking system and were just a bit friendlier they might stand a chance. I'm back to looking for another place to take my alterations to. read more

Several years ago I purchased a beautiful teal wool coat and made the mistake of taking it to Phuong's to shorten the sleeves. They over-shortened them leaving the lining long - hanging down past the sleeves! I felt helpless and chose to not confront them due to the extreme language barrier. So, I stuck the coat deep in a closet not wanting to think about what to do next. (I was leaning towards donating it to Goodwill.) Then earlier this month I pulled it out from the depths of my closet and decided that with the help of Yelp I'll find another tailor that could perhaps fix Phuong's shoddy work. I ended up searching for a tailor near my work and found Tailor Shop by Larissa - a wonderful lady who really loves and cares about her work. Her little shop is the real deal with a staging area surrounded by mirrors for fittings. A far cry from the chaotic, disorganized mess at Phuong's. read more

I like another viewer have been through a love hate relationship with this location. I have a tailor but he has been out of the country so I used this place. All I can say is NEVER AGAIN! I dropped off 8 items, 2 were dry cleaned and the other six to be taken in. Only 1 item which was a dry cleaning item was done in a timely manner. It took almost 3 months to retrieve my items. Every week it was an excuse that I needed to come back in a few days. And every time they weren't completed. The other dry cleaning item was returned with a green stain. Was then told it was brought in as such which could be further from the truth. It took 4 dry cleaning attempts to remove the stain and it came back with a missing button and so thin I had to toss it. None of the items that were brought in were by no means complicated alterations. These were simple hems and sides taken in. Yet nearly all the items were returned too small. Which is surprising because In these 3 months I lost weight and yet couldn't fit properly. But the last straw was my final dress which I would say was a bit my intricate needed the bust which was pleated taken in. Each time I tried it on he would grab near my busy to pin which is fine. But all three times after pinning he would put his hands on my sides then slightly tap my breast. The first time I was confused. The second time I was in shock and by the third time I snapped! No man should ever touch a woman like that. And mind you I worked for years in luxury retail management and went to school for fashion design so I'm familiar with pinning and alterations. And this was not professional at all. And not to mention the fact that the hours state they are open till 7pm yet every day around 3:30 they close for an hour. So there were many wasted trips. And the fact that the operation was completely a mess and my clothes smelled terrible upon pick up. In the end I spent even more to have the items redone and cleaned. I had a tailoring for one pair of slacks, that I provided for them five days before my event. They told me they would have them done by 2pm Tuesday. When I returned to pick up the pants, they haven't even started working on them. All my pants needed were a simple hem. I was greeted by the cashier with confusion and then they told me to come back in 2 hours, which I did not have. After telling them I needed it now, they told me to wait for 30 minutes. Once I got my pants back they were not correctly done. Albeit, they did adjust them again to the proper fit but I will not be returning to this location and unfortunately paid before the job was done so I received no compensation or coupons/discount. I needed clothes altered because of weight loss. The first time I went I brought 4 pairs of pants in I was charged 80 I thought that was fair. Within the same week I brought in 15 more items to be altered and was charged 370. When I received all my items back none of them fit me, they were still too big. I only brought 3 pair of pants back, explained that they were still too big. After I tried them back on and he repinned them he tried to charge me 42. I asked him what for and he showed me a pair of pants and told me he didn't do them. They were in the bag that I paid 370 for already. After almost taking my clothing back and going some place else he decided to do them and not charge me. He makes up prices as he goes along I guess. How do you go from 80 for 4 pair of pants to 42 for 1 pair. And on top of all this my clothes were not ready on the day I was told they would be ready. If I could give 0 stars I would. Took 2 new pair of $110 designer jeans in to be hemmed. $14 per pair for original or $8 for regular hem. I decided to go with the original hem to maintain the look. It was Friday and they asked me when I wanted to pick them up. I said Monday but they reminded me Monday was Labor Day so I said I'd be in Tuesday. Tuesday I came in and they weren't done. They offered to have them done that afternoon but I had to go to work. I said I'd just pick them up the next morning. They were ready Wednesday morning. They look excellent.
