I got my wedding dress altered here and they did an amazing job! The dress was perfect and fit like a glove. Before the dress was a little bit too big and it being a strapless dress, I was worried about it falling down. After the alteration, I had nothing to worry about. They did say it would take about 10 days to finish since my wedding was coming up, they finished it at the perfect time. The cost for my alteration was $120 and it was a little long on me but it would have cost an additional $120 since I had 4 layers to the dress. I opted out on it and was fine with the length. I came here in 2019 to fix my prom dress, the zipper was broken but when I brought the dress I was told she needed to fix the whole entire thing so it ended up being around $175. More or less I ended up paying it because I needed my dress for prom. I was told two different pick up times during that time I did not drive so that was a big inconvenience but she did a good job so recently when my little brother had to go to his prom I need to make alterations to his suit I suggested that we go here. We enter the building and although there was people working we were not acknowledged for the first 20 minutes. They saw us coming they did stare at us but did not say welcome in or any grading they just continued working, and having conversation conversations about what they're gonna have for lunch. Finally I said I'm sorry is it OK if we can get some assistance because at the moment I was in a little bit of a rush, I was asked what we needed I explained that my brother's pants fit him a little long so we just need to trim about half an inch she said that for that it would be $85 which I did think was a little pricey, but I did not voice that because I understand that this is a service and they could put whatever price tag they want on their labor so I politely just said thank you and me and my brother decided to go somewhere else but as we were leaving the ladies started laughing and making comments about my sibling and I and I just feel very uncomfortable and unwelcoming and I was just very disappointed considering that this was the second time I consider them for this. Have had 2 suits altered here. Would have been 5 stars had the service provided been consistent, but alas it wasn't. Both suits were the same brand, same model and had same lengths. When I came in the first time a beautiful gray suit was altered. On both by the way I needed the length of the sleeves fixed as well as the waist tucked a bit. My gray suit ended up being fantastic. Some time later I came in with a blue suit I was enamored with, same Calvin Klein brand with the color being the only difference from the gray suit. Pretty sure my arms didn't have a growth spurt from the time I was here last (as I'm a grown man haha) far from puberty. Seemed like she took my measurements down the same and when she asked for the alterations I asked the same as my blue suit. She remembered me and gave the ok. Tell me why after picking it up and getting home to wear my suit my sleeves were a full inch to inch and a half from my wrist? Major disappointment. My outfit had all these crazy designs on it and had a lot going on, so I wasn't too sure if anyone was gonna be able to tailor this without messing up all the designs. My wife and I have been having alterations done by Maria at A-Tailor since approximately 2016. We have had sleeves shortened and lengthened, pants hemed. Jackets let out (hey. we enjoy good food), patches sewn on leather jackets, gown modifications, etc. Maria prices her alterations very fairly, and although we have never had anything done that needed tweaking, I feel certain she would stand behind her work. We always try and support independent businesses and love the work done here. Maria, the owner is very friendly and very professional. You'll get no attitude or unfriendly demeanor when you walk in to her shop and interrupt whatever tailoring project she may be working on--and I appreciate that. I've been doing business with her for at least six years although I've not taken that many pieces of clothing to her mostly pairs of pants and jeans needed to shorten and hem. Today we took my husband's bomber jacket to have the sleeves shortened and the button removed and also pairs of work pants as his job ordered him the wrong length. He wanted a certain length for his work pants and she quickly told us why that length should not be chosen. She is now in a larger suite, right next to her old suite and now has two fitting rooms plus a larger work area with separate cashier area and a spacious lobby with chairs to sit and wait. I went to Maria as a desperate bride after being recommended to her by someone else whose daughter had her wedding dress tailored by her. I bought my dress from a local bridal store, who my experience was horrible(to say the least) after getting my dress from them. My dress was basically two sizes too big even though the store supposedly ordered it "my size according to my measurements" and then tried to overcharge me on the tailoring (I wish I had before pictures). Anyway I was very upset and desperate when I went to Maria as I knew I didn't have a lot time to get my dress tailored. With so much agony and tears in my eyes I told her everything about my recent experience I had with the bridal store, and my dress situation. Maria was such a sweetheart and she instantly made me feel so much better and at ease. She told me how she had heard so many other horror stories from other brides and told me not to worry as she could help me, and had a lot of experience with bridal dresses. She had such a warm and calm sense to her, she instantly made me feel so much better. Not only did she tell me she could do the work on my dress and complete it in time for my wedding but she also said she could do it for a way more reasonable price than how much the bridal store was trying to charge me. Maria was very honest with me from the beginning. She went into detail about what needed to be done to my dress to tailor it to me and all the work that had to be done on it because of the details of the dress. For drop off and pick up, there were the 2 same ladies in the shop so I think it's a very small/family business. Dropped off an oversized 2 piece suit to get altered/fitted for Halloween and a formal dress that I wanted the slits on the legs brought up higher on. 2 very different pieces. Took a week, ready on the date she promised. The suit used to look like I borrowed it from my father, now it looks like it was built for me! I would never have worn it other than for Halloween, but it looks so good I'm planning to wear it to other events. The slits on the dress are the perfect height up my legs. I've used her for altering multiple garments for my daughter who is very petite. She's done excellent work on both casual and formal garments. In addition, she's friendly and completes the alterations before the event. :) Finally, I feel she charges a fair price--- whereas some places charge an arm and a leg to alter formal dresses. I purchased a couple suits off the rack at a large department store. To make things more complicated, the suit pants were way too large for me (both the waist and the inseam were a few sizes too large) but we're a discontinued line with material that I really wanted, so of course I purchased 2 pairs of slacks for each suit (so 4 pairs total). The tailor I used a couple years ago closed - so I started looking for a new tailor. Yelp reviews led me to "A Tailor". Parking available right out front - I walked in the door and there was a line of customers in a small space! One lady was hard at work, while the other helped the customers in the store. It's not a fancy place, but I liked that it looked old school - you could tell from conversations that they know what they're doing here! I had to wait a bit since there were 3 or 4 people in front of me. While I waited at least 3 more customers came in behind me - they're busy, they must be doing good work. I explained what I needed; they had me try in the pants and measured my waist and inseam. A quick discussion about the break and what I wanted, and on to the 2nd pair of slacks. Then they asked when I needed them - I said no rush, and she responded with just a few days later. The price was very reasonable, and for a 2 day turn around time I would've expected to pay way more! The work was done with great quality and precision! Their attention to detail was impressive - even things I didn't think to ask about were already taken care of (i.e. Large waisted slacks, the thighs would've been too wide; they took care of it without me event thinking to ask). I would definitely go back in the future and definitely recommend A Tailor! read more
