I met Pj in 2015 signed up with the gym. I'm back now after a couple of years. I recommend this gym. It's clean, I never felt that I could not return because of COVID because Pj had always kept a clean gym and provides wipes to wipe down the equipment if you don't bring your own. This place was confusing. My bf and I drove by and thought it was a supplement shop, like Vitamin World or GNC, since its called Max Muscle Sports NUTRITION. Wrong. Its a personal training gym that sells very limited supplements. The girl working offered help, so my bf asked about the protein they carry. She went on about one she had no clue about. She kept emphasising the same irrelevant point over and over when we asked questions. She obviously needs training in that area. Anyways, the protein she offered was extremely over priced $79. We don't even she prices like that at GNC, and they are known for gouging. I'm sure this is a great place to train (although there were no customers when we went around 6pm on a weekday), but as far as "sports nutrition" goes, they get one star. read more

I moved from LA and needed a gym to keep me accountable. Coming from LA I am used to fitness studios and honesty not comfortable in a 'gym' lifting weights. My cousin and I have been coming to PJ's max muscle since I moved to So Cal back in 2005. Although, I now live in Orange County I still make time to cruise by and pick up my stuff when I am out in that direction (although she does ship to your home if you choose). Let me tell you the difference between this max muscle and most other places. First of all, PJ only carries items that she believes truly work - I've seen products here that I have trouble finding in other stores and even the same franchise. What I've come to find out is that if PJ determines it does not work then she will not carry it. Go to GNC if you want a kid with low experience telling you to take something with a proprietary blend that he knows only what the sales brochure told him about. PJ will not have ten different products of something that doesn't work but one of something that does. Secondly, If you want someone that will tell you the truth about what you need to work on and how you can get the body that you want - this is going to be PJ. If you want someone to lie and tell you that you look great in that black dress when you don't - that would be your family members. A true trainer will let you know outright what you should improve on and then train on on how to do so and that is what PJ will do. As far as the details of the store / gym itself - you have high quality equipment which is kept up well and everything is absolutely clean. Also, if you want to have a private atmosphere where you can be trained and improve on your body without a bunch of odd-balls watching you do squats - then this would be the place. PJ has YEARS of experience with nutrition and fitness and has lived the lifestyle. At other places I've seen 19 year old kids pay 99.00 bucks on groupon for fitness certification and start training at a 24 hour fitness when they have no knowledge whatsoever. Which would you prefer? My suggestion: go in and tell PJ your goals - buy some supplements for working out and work with her on a meal plan and training - if you want to get in shape and be healthy. read more

Owner is extremely knowlegable. I always get the supps. I need and not just sold to. Ive been going there for a while and ive seen many of her customers, including myself, achieve excellent results. People get confused about the gym part in the back. Its not a "gym for everyone" the gym is only open to serious and focused people who are guided by pj throughout the fitness journey. In just 4 days I have lost 7 pounds on her nutrition plan. First off, theres no better place to go then Max Muscle to get your nutrition and exercise plan started or improved. I'm a 30 year old dad of 3 kids. I've done several diet and workout plans over the years since my college years. Recently I started doing home workouts with free weights etc with a popular 90 day program , as much success as i had, there has been a key element missing. My nutrition was way off.... Pj immediately showed me the errors in my meal plan, and nutrion needs. She could have easily just try to sell me 7 "amazing" supplements. But first and foremost she got me on track with the real foods and plan i needed. Then showed me the first important things i needed to add, a better Protein shake, (i was using cheap brand) and a more effecient multi-vitamin. Then kindly showed me the things to consider to add to my workout plan as i could afford or will find works or doesnt work. I cant tell you how great that is as a consumer, most vitamin stores will sell you anything, But Pj said lets try one or two things and see if it helps then come back and we can adjust. Let me tell you when she said that she won me as a regular loyal customer. Progress, within three weeks i saw significant improvement in my body and muscle development. I journaled it all came back, and Pj helped me fine tune my meals and exersice AGAIN! or i should say she saw what i was still missing or doing wrong. I cant say enough about Pj or Max Muscle, dont be fooled by the cheap stuff you get what you pay for. If your not getting results are your really saving money or just wasting it. I had spent so much time and money trying to get on a fitness routine and figure out how to eat to support my desires to get in shape. I was drawn to Pj's Max Muscle as it offered supplements, training, and nutrition information. The supplement store front and training gym in the back are BEAUTIFUL. The information, meal plan, and atmosphere are wonderful. Wherever you are in your journey, whether just starting out or maybe stuck at a plateau, I believe Pj has the knowledge and the genuine concern to help you get to where you want to be. She will invest in you as much as you are willing to invest in yourself and then some. I'm really grateful to have stumbled upon my fitness home. By the time you add up all the costs training here will cost you about 300 dollars a month This PJ woman is very rude and demeaning to people also. I went into this gym on several occasions and each time it was empty. Gee I wonder why. Duuuuuhhhhh. Don't waste your time at this establishment. Just go to one of the chain gyms and hire a trainer. My wife and I have been going to Git It Sports Nutrition around a year in a half maybe two years now. The front supplement shop is well maintained, stocked, and clean. When it comes to the supplements, you pay for what you get! You pay the price to get the best supplements out there not like GNC where a lot of their products are just garbage. The gym in the back is amazing! Every piece of equipment is well maintained and every time I go, none of the equipment is broken down. The owner Pj is the best! She is very knowledgeable about the supplements she carries, nutrition, and workouts. When I first started going to Pj I was 264 lbs. Within five months of working out and following her meal plan I was able to get down to 216 lbs. My wife and I still go to PJ to weight in and to do personal training sessions with her. I can't say enough nice things about Pj. She may seem a little aggressive but it's because she is very passionate about what she does and you can tell she enjoys to see people succeed. This store has so many advantages for those who are SERIOUS about their fitness /weight loss goals. It is not like any of your typical chain stores, or gyms, where the clients die down and give up within the first week of working out. The owner PJ knows what she is talking about and has experience to back it Up. All the tools are in one place and it is so convenient to have somewhere where you can get your supplements, and training help in one spot. this woman does not know what she is talking about. First of all, this is not a normal gym. You HAVE to follow all her advice. You MUST buy all the supplements she tells you to. You MUST hire a personal trainer. You MUST go to her gym and pay her monthly fees. When it is all finished you will be paying 200-300 dollars a month for everything. Unless you go here with a suitcase full of money, best just go to one of the local chain gyms and hire a personal trainer yourself. Much cheaper and you will get the same results. She did not seem to know much about training and nutrition, other than to try and get you to buy her supplements. read more
