Last July 2025 I fell down my stairs and broke my left hip, I had to go to the emergency room and a doctor over at Swift Institute was on the Emergency side of it, and replaced my hip with a few screws. Well, the screws were coming out as I walked, so I saw Dr. Winkle back at great basin, and he said you're gonna have to have your hip totally replaced, as the screws are poking out.! I ended up in the hospital a few days after surgery with a stomach problem, and he actually came by to see me, and it had nothing to do with my hip, he just wanted to make sure I was OK! Absolutely incredible Dr, I highly recommend him and any doctor at Great Basin Orthopedics! The best! I needed a nausea medicine, and unbeknownst to Dr. Winkle the medicine he gave me for nausea also helped the stomach problem I was having so I could eat again, no other doctor has ever prescribed that medicine for me and I get these stomach issues a lot, we were really impressed! Most of the staff seemed more focused on talking to each other than helping patients. There was constant distraction, side conversations, and a lack of awareness that made the environment uncomfortable and not patient focused. It felt like they didn't care about patients actual conditions just handing out exercises. They spoke too fast, used terms without explaining anything, and assumed I already knew what I was doing. As a beginner, I felt completely overlooked and they just laugh??? Although the front desk staff hid it well you can tell they were also dismissive and acted annoyed by basic questions instead of helping when they should be the ones knowing everything not me. Overall, this place lacks professionalism, communication, and patient care. Do not go to this place. especially if you're new to physical therapy.

They have basic X-ray services. No lab facilities. Each doctor has their own assistants and they are caring. Listen well and they have no problems big omg referrals.

At my first appointment the therapist did not read the post op report and was not aware of what was done but wanted to start therapy. I insisted she read the report prior to us doing the therapy I offered to email it to her right then so she wouldn't have to have the front desk dig to find it, in the end I had her read it on my phone. As therapy happened each week she didn't seem to know what to really do with me. she did not do any baseline measurements and she did not add anymore exercises until I told her my surgeon said she should have added several others in, at that point she says well yeah I guess do that too if he wants you to. She never stretched my arm properly as what should have happened. She worked with me for about five minutes on my most recent appointment and that was the final straw. I changed physical therapy offices and am beyond happy that I did. However I am now behind on my recovery due to sticking it out for weeks. With in one visit at the other office I have soo much improvement the new therapist worked with me for an entire hour and is really going to help me. For someone who knows no better this office will seem ok. But for your own good and progress go elsewhere where. This was my second time giving them a chance. Please be more hands on for your current patients and if you are not knowledgeable on how to handle your shoulder surgery patients do your reseach. I am just disappointed.
