I've been to St Francis on many occasions and only had one bad experience. I've been there for PT for two shoulders, a knee and my back. PT at St Francis is Awesome!!! I've been there 3 times for the ER. Twice my experience with the Dr's has been efficient and diagnosed well. Sadly, there was one time in the ER where I was diagnosed by a NA and it was wrong and I was prescribed a medication in the Mycin genre. I am allergic to any drug in the Mycin family; which I had written down, is in my folder and I told them verbally. The drug prescribed to me could have killed me and if it wasn't for my Pharmacist at Walgreens on Broadway, Ann who is the freaking BEST!, she saved my life. I would still recommend the hospital beyond this one bad experience. read more

The male front desk associate is condescending, unprofessional and rude. The majority of female staff are exceptional yet, it is the male staff who lack experience & professionalism. Robert Mazalewski, PA exhibits the most ignorant, impatient, unwavering arrogance that appears to be adopted by the aforementioned male associate. The facts are clearly established as, their rating is indicative of the quality of, and their attention to, patient care, "the office experience" & accuracy of service. Do yourself a favor, and don't waste your time. You will be better served as this location lacks the capacity, competence and credibility to serve the diversity of the community in which it is centrally located. I was inconvenienced to return and wait an hour, standing in the waiting area as Robert Mazalewski, PA, lacked the intelligence or expertise needed to accurately input my name & address as shown on my State Of Illinois Drivers License. He failed three times to enter the information accurately. An administrative mistake (a typographical error), which could have been easily avoided, had he checked his work. Taken the limited effort to dedicate a couple minutes to check his work. I was 1of3 other "patient customers" to have some "issue" to occur as I waited and others were made to take time out of their day, to return and address the rude, time-robbing "Gate Keeper" who, like the P.A., blamed the female staff who work within the Lab, for issues that clients experienced. This is **not** an immediate care facility, despite their branding and door signage. I was just turned away without any sense of compassion or care or even an offer to call an ambulance, after expressing the immense level of unbearable pain I'm experiencing. Absolutely no willingness to address emergency pain so I could make it to the ER. She just pointed to a little poster that apparently clarifies this isn't urgent care -- like I should've known that poster was inside before hand. read more

The front desk staff were considerate and helpful and got me scheduled for a later walk-in appointment. The wedding area is clean and tidy, and there was a staff person disinfecting common areas which I appreciated. The rest of my experience, unfortunately was not as great. I was being seen for a urinary tract infection and they collected a sample to send off for culture to make sure I was taking the right antibiotic. When I was still having symptoms five days later on the Macrobid they had prescribed, I called to check on my cultures and was informed that they had been rejected because they had ordered a respiratory panel on my urine sample. No one had ever reached out to me. The staff person I spoke to said that the results just came in on the 26th but when I logged into the portal I saw that they actually had been reported as rejected on the 23rd. Don't know how things went sideways, but the fact that no one reached out to have me come back in for a new sample is unacceptable. So I voted with my feet and went to the Endeavor immediate care center on Broadway that I know I can trust to run the right test. read more

I've been here twice. Both experiences were positive. Once to change a bandage dressing on my neck after surgery. It was on the weekend when the nurse didn't come to my home. The second for some regular routine blood work. It's close by and they accepted my insurance. I'm so glad there are places like this around it's often enough. read more

Update- I reached I out to the email provided and they responded right away asked for personal information. To find my visit and I have not heard back from them. Honestly a joke of a clinic. First of all the doctor looked annoyed to be there and was no help at all. I came in because I was having trouble breathing due to a cough. He could have done a breathing treatment or suggested maybe I had bronchitis but no..... He told me I could have Covid -- seriously? I've had Covid before, I know exactly what it feels like, and this isn't it. Then he said maybe it's the flu, but I clearly told him I don't have a fever, no body aches, nothing that fits. So what does he come up with next? A blood clot. A blood clot. He admitted it's "very unlikely" but said it's the only thing he could think of based on my symptoms -- which, by the way, don't include any signs of a clot. No swelling, no redness, nothing. But he still tells me to go to the ER for a full work-up. I'm not a doctor, but come on -- throwing out "blood clot" without a shred of supporting evidence is just irresponsible. If I didn't know better, I could've panicked and rushed to the ER over nothing. I finally had to push just to get a prescription for cough medicine, which he eventually gave me. Avoid if you can. 1. They make walk ins self serve the check in process through online screens. It took me 15 minutes. This is horrible when you're already sick or injured. 2. The waiting room was cold and looked dirty. The chairs were hardbacked with wire legs. The receptionist was indifferent, and following orders to not help any sick people by doing their registrations. 2. They do not accept cash as payment. They do not tell you this until you've spent 15 minutes struggling to register. You must give them access to your credit card before they will treat you. 3. If you go to Walgreens across the street and buy a pre-paid Visa card to pay with cash, and buy the exact amount they said your co-pay would be, your payment is denied. This makes me wonder: are they trying to pre-authorize an amount higher than I will owe? This made me distrust the company owners, so I left. Tip: if you can, go to a different brand of drop in doctors' office. read more

The receptionist this past Saturday and today was so so kind!! I hope she see's this and knows her lighthearted banter made a rough morning a delight. Both physicians assistants as well as nurses that took my vitals were both great. I also appreciated the first one started with a low dose of stuff and told me to come back Monday if it didn't improve. This time I also made an appointment so it was a much faster wait. This place has long waits during busy times but they are honest if the wait is going to be long. I work in customer service and I was impressed how kind they were even around frustrated folks. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went for a cold and the tech did a nasal swab for covid. But she managed to puncture my nose causing a major nose bleed. I was trying to get away from her and she just kept digging for gold in my nose! I managed to hit my head in my attempt to get her to stop and she just kept going. I have been to this location three times and they have been pretty good with solving my health issues. The last time I was here, however, I started receiving a cryptic phishing email and text message. The messages was sent the day after my visit and it came from SmartContact@s-er.co and the subject heading was "It's Endeavor Health Checking In" making it sound legit since I had just been to the clinic the day before. The message was: "Please click here to let Endeavor Health know how you are doing today." The message was cryptic and for me that was the give away. I hovered over the link in the email and it was a jumbled url address and not coming form Endeavor Health. At the same time I also received a very similar text message asking me to click a link. The fact that these people knew I had just visited the clinic and they have my email address and phone number means they have access to the either the clinic's computer or Endeavor Health's computer system has been hacked. I called Endeavor and they listened about my concerns regarding hacking but I don't know if they really do anything about it. Our health records are being accessed and it seems nothing is being done about it. read more

I have never wrote a review for anywhere, but people need to be warned. I get blood drawn every 3 months for routine lab work and never have had to get poked more than once. They poked me 5 times and still didn't get a blood draw. I ended up passing out and have bruises forming all up and down my arms. I would much rather come here than go to a hospital ED. But as I arrived Monday afternoon, I certainly wasn't impressed with the receptionist. If you don't like your job, then get a different one. It was so obvious that she is bored with her tasks and having to repeat the same phrases over and over again as her day goes on. Her attitude was a major turn off. On the other hand, the doctor was fantastic! He listened to me (I've noticed a lot don't do that much these days). He prescribed me what I needed to feel better and I wish I could make him my primary doctor. This place seems to have good doctors, but the receptionists are extremely rude. During my visit I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection requiring an antibiotic. I was given Amoxicillin, and in my sick state it slipped my mind that my girlfriend has a very severe allergy to any penicillin-based medication and we are both uncomfortable with me taking them because of danger of cross-contamination. I called the clinic back and spoke to a receptionist who was extremely dismissive and rude about my request. I asked her if she could simply have the doctor prescribe me a different medication that is not penicillin-based. Her response was rudely stating, "No, the doctor will not prescribe you another medication. Just take the pill and wash the glass and you will be fine." Then she literally hung up on me! I was appalled and immediately called back, getting the same woman. She was again rude, and when I told her that she hung up on me, she "apologized" in a mocking sing-song voice. I demanded to speak to a manager, and she refused, telling me that there was no one there in charge above her. Apparently to try to get rid of me, she asked if I wanted to speak directly to a doctor and I said yes. So guess what? She put me on hold for over 5 minutes before my call was transferred to an empty voicemail box with no name, and one which is clearly never checked, because no one from the clinic ever returned my call. I am absolutely appalled by this level of customer service and I will never return to this location under any circumstances. These people should be ashamed of themselves for treating sick people in this manner. Thoroughly disgusted. I have never been treated so poorly by customer service anywhere in my life. read more

My first experience there was wonderful. I saw Dr. Allen Thomas for a pulmonary infection that required meds to keep me breathing. He was on time,courteous and most important, empathetic. We discussed future xrays if I felt anymore tightness or labored breathing. Today I had an appt for those xrays. Feeling much better but still not 100 and as a former smoker needing them. Enter DR. Allison Supranowicz, who made me wait 45 minutes, I'm the ONLY patient there at this point. I'm in the back just sitting there. I open the exam room , ask the nurse how much longer? The doctor jumps out of her chair where she is busy with the computer and dismissively snaps " I was just coming to see you, but if you have to leave, that's fine, go." Without giving me a chance to respond face to face, does an about turn and walks away. I am STUNNED at the the level of disinterest she had in me. Especially after the kindness of Dr. Thomas. This is my first Yelp review ever. WE CANNOT normalize healthcare professionals treating us like cattle and holding us hostage to their moods. The care received at the Wicker Park location was good, but the professionalism of the administrative staff is lacking. I asked if there would be a payment when we were leaving. They said easy enough. When a bill collector they employ or contract with called me a few weeks later, I answered and said I would pay when I got home. I tried to schedule an appt online so that I could remove any uncertainty of not being able to be seen as I was feeling very unwell. I was not able to do that online as it said they weren't taking anymore appts for the day. Confusing to offer scheduling online but then seems the scheduling online function doesn't actually work. I called the number provided online. It was apparent I lost my voice, had trouble speaking and was met by surly person answering phones with an attitude- seems she was bothered by having to answer questions. Went to location, check in was quick, it wasn't super busy but desk person again seems bothered to have to speak with people who are sick and have lost their voice. Saw fairly quickly but person didn't bother to take my temp just asked if I had a temp. I actually said I wasn't sure- yet still didn't bother to take temp. PA gave me a quick once over. Overall, I wish I had never bothered to go. Went bc I thought I had strep as I have come into contact with people who have strep at my office. Staff pushed another Covid test on me- though I told them I already took Covid test at home night before and I actually think I did a more thorough job of swabbing my nasal passage than the attendant. I think next time- I'll just ride out being sick. This is the sign of what universal health care will be like- people bothered to do their jobs making sick people feel like they are an inconvenience. I'm going to make sure I have as little to do with doctors, clinics and hospitals as possible The place also looks like it could use a thorough cleaning. Hi, going to this place because I'm new to the city. I came in on January 11 with a knee injury. They told me that their x-rays did not show any fractures and that that's all they could do and that they were going to refer me to an ortho. Come January 18 I call to find out why I haven't gotten any voicemails or calls for referrals. The girl apologized and said that they were going to take care of it. Today I was on hold for two different phone calls for 30 minutes. I had to go into the freaking clinic to talk to them. Apparently on January 15 they don't do referrals anymore so they aren't gonna help me. then they tried to say that they called twice, I don't have any voicemails or any missed calls. I am in pain. Every time I walk. At work. I can't go for walks to the supermarket right now. And they response is oh well. Don't suggest this place go somewhere where they will take care of you and follow up with what they say they're going to do. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! This place deserves NO STARS at all. They should, in fact, be closed down due to ineptitude. I went there because I had been kept from sleep for an entire 10 days and 10 nights. I felt as though I was dying. There was no doctor there (there rarely is) and I saw a PA named Rachael. I told her how I was living below an apartment which has vagrants (trespassers, squatters) living there, and the bldg. manager at El Lago Condominiums refused to acknowledge or do anything about them because he is lazy and doesn't take responsibility for anything. These vagrants are awake and bringing loud noises into my bedroom 24/7 (literally, truly) so I was constantly being "scared awake", similar to a torture method. The PA could see how ill I was but what she did was shocking. She excused herself from the room after about 3 minutes, was gone for about 20 minutes, and when she came back and opened the door there were 3 very large men who were ready to pack me up in an ambulance and admit me to Weiss Hospital, as per the instructions of the doctor/supervisor, Dr. Aldi, she had phoned. You see, they didn't want me to drive my car home because they would be liable. I am saying this, they did not admit such. They did not care about my well being in the least. Well, I pushed the big men out of my way and said "I'll walk home", told her "Thanks for nothing" and I walked home in the snow and rain leaving my car in their lot. I went in there with major trauma and left having been even further traumatized by their staff. That was 3 days ago and I am still brutally ill and getting worse daily. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT THERE! The qualification of the doctor was so low - she could not give me any answer, except to send to more qualified colleagues. The appointment with the doctor was very short - no more than 2 minutes. She examined my problem and could not say anything. She didn't even try to be helpful. And that was it. After an hour and a half of waiting. I do not understand how this place functions with such insurmountable levels of incompetence and ineptitude. After running blood and urine samples, the results of which they were not even able to contextualize in relationship to my symptoms (some feckless "technician" was utterly baffled when I asked this), they said their capacities were exhausted and that I should go somewhere else. Unfortunately, my first visit to the Edgewater location of Physicians Immediate Care will also be my last. I have never written a bad review in my life and am hesitant to do so, but my poor experience here urged me to write this. For some brief context, I visited one evening for an ear infection. There was no wait and the staff who checked me in were kind and welcoming, however, I was very disappointed in the lack of patience, care, or general concern shown by Dr. Hughes. He was curt and honestly seemed annoyed throughout my entire short visit, for no apparent reason. He did not explain anything to me about my condition or ask questions to elicit more information or make me feel that I was listened to or could be comfortable asking him questions. Despite this, I mentioned a few of the symptoms I had been having - to absolutely no response from him. He roughly swabbed my ear then quickly prescribed a medication with no explanation of what it was, how it would work, or chance for me to ask questions about it. The care center sent an automated text after my visit asking to rate my experience. When I left a poor score, I received an e-mail from the quality control team saying they would follow-up with me shortly. This never happened. Regardless, I e-mailed back with details about my experience and three weeks later have still not heard from them. After having such a bad experience, I came here to see what others had to say about the center and was upset to see that so many other people had written about Dr. Hughes in particular and his lack of courtesy or a proper bedside manner. It is very possible that other physicians and clinical staff at the center are wonderful, but because of my experience with Dr. Hughes - I will not be returning and urge others to go elsewhere as well. I came here because I was a student at Loyola and my primary care doctor at home was too far away. I have a history of migraines and came in to see if I could get some basic first aid care and a doctors note to excuse a class absence (I was vomiting and had blind spots that made it nearly impossible to read). The doctor that saw me immediately acted as if he had better places to be and made it clear he didn't care to even hear what I had to say. He asked me if I'd been diagnosed with migraines, which I said no because I was actively going through a neurological workup back home - migraine was just a differential diagnosis at the time. He cut me off before I could explain this, and told me I didn't know what a migraine was. He told me it was probably just a bad headache and actually rolled his eyes at me when I emphasized what my symptoms were - which clearly indicated migraines. He told me I should "just" try over the counter medications next time instead (wow, who would've thought). I didn't have high expectations for this kind of clinic, but I still couldn't believe how dismissive and blatantly negligent he was. I cried on my walk back to campus. As an update, I am diagnosed with migraines and was also diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Sydrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and narcolepsy with cataplexy, which are all associated with migraines... I also finally graduated from Loyola with my degree in neuroscience and currently conduct clinical research in neurology. None of the physicians I work with (primarily neurosurgeons surgeons) are nearly as arrogant and unprofessional as the MD I saw here. read more

I took my wife here because she was in crucial pain. They showed no empathy, although my wife was almost passing out from chest pain. I asked if they could see her right away because of her pain, and they wouldn't budge . They said people are here with appointments, and you're just a walk in. So people could be dying, and they would stick to their schedule. Horrible. Will never go here again. How could you see that someone is in huge pain and not care at all? Are they waiting on my registration? Zero communication. My questions to them were met with one word answers, not even looking up from what they were doing. There was nothing urgent about them. Come on. Again...I was the ONLY patient in there. I only went bc they were closest but never again. I could've driven the extra 10 minutes to the North Shore or Northwestern clinics in Evanston and been seen sooner than this place. And actually been welcomed with a modicum of kindness or concern. But once in I felt I had really great care. Docs and nurses were attentive, caring and prompt. Great communication. Unfortunately I'm not navigating that front desk gauntlet of robotic, aloof and unsympathetic young women ever again, despite the quality staff in the back. read more

I came here one weekend to get a rapid COVID test. I completed the online forms/made my appointment online. It was very easy and they were accommodating to me. They tested me and brought me inside to see someone to go over my results. I felt like the staff were very friendly and engaging; Monica was working with me and I asked her name specifically because I wanted to shout her out for being such a kind and compassionate individual. I also met with the Dr. (sorry I didn't catch her name!) and she was wonderful. She was definitely thorough when talking to me about symptoms and encouraged me to come back if I had additional symptoms. I typically go to a different urgent care place but when they are not available, I will definitely go here. The staff are great and very kind. read more

I'm very glad this place is here, AND open on a Sunday. The clinic itself is bright, clean and efficient. The desk staff is friendly. I had a painful sore throat, was worried it was strep. Also, cough. But my throat, ow! I read some of the other comments on here about Dr. Hugh. So, I was curious going in. The assistant that took my symptoms/concerns was patient and thorough. Got all the facts, and I waited for the doctor. Dr. Hugh! Now I was sort of expecting someone like what other people had commented on. The doc comes in. I did not find him condescending or dismissive. What I did find him to be was STRAIGHTFORWARD. He did what I thought was a thorough, albeit brief exam of my throat and ears (clear) and listened to my lungs (clear). Did a strep test - negative, yay. Was brisk and efficient. Listened to my symptoms. Explained his diagnosis, prescribed cough suppressant, and talked about possible duration. All right! Looks like I just have to tough it out for a day or two more, and I should be well for the most part. Straightforward Medical Information - this is what I came in for. I thought Dr. Hugh was fine. Now I know I don't need to freak out about my sore throat, it's not strep or a bacterial infection that's gonna go to my lungs. It's a simple thing that just needs to run it's course and go away. I wasn't coming in to have a beer with the guy and tell jokes, I was coming in to consult with a professional, and that's exactly what I got. I was in and out of the clinic, quick as can be. PEOPLE. This is not really an emergency room. I don't get the feeling you should come here if you are spurting blood or something, you need to go the hospital for that. I don't think it's for complicated illnesses or serious ailments. What it IS, is a great place to come for everyday stuff. Sore throats, maybe a bad sprain, burns, cuts, flu. Stuff for kids, simple injuries, allergic reactions - that sort of thing.They take many insurances, and are a really good resource in the neighborhood. If you are REALLY sick or in pain, seriously, go to the ER at a hospital. But for other stuff, this place is GREAT! read more
