I decided to just take the swim test anyway and I failed miserably. After the test, I immediately looked up instructors and found Swim Haven. I called and reached Christina. I explained to her my situation that I'm a weak swimmer and needed to pass a swim test the following week. I saw Christina that day which she did an introductory course. She assessed my level and determined she can help me pass if I listened to her. We met a few times at a public pool and she was soooo patient with me. She taught me the proper techniques for the swim style and breathing. I was unable to meet with her for my last swim lesson but was still able to practice. Christina asked if she could be in attendance for my swim test but unfortunately wasn't allowed. She called me the night prior and gave me good tips and a great prep talk. She is so sweet and thoughtful. I took the test and passed!! I called Christina immediately and told her the great news. She was so ecstatic!! She was sooooo happy for me. Her technique and confidence has improved dramatically from the first lesson through breathing and stroke exercises that Dima puts her through. She has been doing about two sessions weekly and additional practice at our local gym. I highly recommend Coach Dima if you are serious about improving your child's athletic ability in the water. He is a seasoned professional and there is no doubt that he knows what he is doing., More importantly, he communicates effectively yet gently with his students to get maximum performance each session. Hi everyone, I want to share a warning about a swim teacher I hired, as I don't want others to have…read morethe same experience. Her name is Alina Iakushyna (on Facebook as Alina Swim/(Alinok)and on IG as Alina Swimming). Her most recent company name is Azure Swim, but she has previously operated under Swimming in Miami and Dolphin Swimming Club. I originally paid for a 10-lesson package (45 min each). After just starting the first package and completing only 3-4 lessons, she told me about her financial struggles and how hard it was with two small kids. She asked if I could buy another package. Feeling bad for her situation, I agreed to pay for a second package upfront. She promised to refund me if anything changed. We eventually finished the first 10 lessons, but it was extremely difficult because she constantly canceled or rescheduled. Also the classes were supposed to be 45 min and she never did 45 min. Always ended class at 25-30 min. Then, in mid-October, she said she couldn't continue due to the weather changing and assured me she'd refund the remaining classes the following week. Since then, she hasn't responded to any of my messages. After digging further, I discovered that this is something she does often. She has several bad reviews on Yelp under her old company name, and I've come across other moms in Facebook groups who've had similar experiences. Please be cautious if you're considering lessons with her. I strongly recommend never paying her for a full package upfront. If anyone has had a similar experience or needs more details, feel free to reach out.

We are currently 11 lessons in with Alina, and I am extremely grateful for what she has taught my 6…read moreand 4 yr olds. As a healthcare provider, I know how important water safety is. It was terrifying to me that my kids had zero water skills. We are from NY but it's our second trip down and in a short time Alina has given my children invaluable skills. Both kids can swim over to safety and have even began learning technique! I'm in awe of the progress being made and love the "tough love" approach. My kids were terrified initially and the photos are proof that they're gaining confidence with their increasing skill levels. I'm exceptionally grateful for the swim lessons, and highly recommend them for all kiddos.
