The hours are all over the place, more times than not it's closed. I've left messages that don't get returned. The biggest grievance, however, is finding something to buy without a price. The salesperson had to call someone. No answer while I was in the store. Took my number. Long story short, agreed on price, arranged to come back...store is closed! Again. read more

My mom bought a huge armoire with a MIRROR in the door from this store and we paid extra for delivery. When arranging delivery, I specifically asked the lady behind the counter who apparently is the owner if the people who would be bringing this 7 foot tall item were professionals. Oh yes, she assured me, they would pack it / pad it carefully, they knew what they were doing etc. Turned out, the item was NOT packed carefully, or even tied closed. The men hired to move the item were tasked with using the Piccolo van. A van that apparently has a broken rear door - it only opens sometimes. They were also not actually real movers and did not have their own moving supplies. The "movers" admitted to my mom they weren't real movers and were only given a rope / strap from the store that wouldn't even stretch all the way around the armoire. I am not sure how the men got the armoire in the van, but while trying to get it out the side door of the van (back door was stuck closed), the armoire door swung open, damaging the door and breaking the mirror into tiny pieces all over the front drive / street. The front of the doors were also damaged in several places AND the leg started to split as the movers attempted to slide it across the carpet in our house. The movers were apologetic and cleaned up all of the mirror. The owner of Piccolo also refunded my mother a portion of the sales price of the item. This is the only reason I didn't rate the place 1 star. However, this item should never have left the store without being tied closed and covered in a moving blanket and moving shrink wrap. This is how REAL MOVERS pack and move items. All in all a rather disappointing experience. I don't think we will be back, which is such a shame since I really liked going into Piccolo prior to this whole fiasco. read more

Just walked in this place expecting to window shop for 30 seconds and ended up walking both floors. The downstairs is more than 11,000 feet (not a typo!)....it was HUGE!! Fun to look around. I didn't see one person who worked there which was kinda weird and it smelled like some seriously antique stuff, but I figure that's pretty normal. Was pretty warm, not sure if the AC was on in some areas of the "mall", which I don't blame them for because it's so huge and would cost $473937373737 to make cooler... buuuut.... there was an older woman in there sweating sooo much I was kinda worried about her. Piccolo is located right in the heart of downtown Belmont & is in a pretty large building. There are 2 stories to the place so expect lots & lots of antique goodies. It's more of a consignment store, so you're going to have a lot of junk along with the good stuff in here. The upstairs is more like a normal store front, with displays & such, & everything seems a little more organized. But the downstairs has more of a flea market type feel to it, with rows & rows of stuff somehow separated into different categories. It really reminds me of going to Metrolina Expo as a child. One other section to the building is the wine shop, which I'm not really positive if it's part of Piccolo or not. They have a decent selection of wines, mainly devoted to Carolina or regional wines. They also have some wine related gifts & such, along with home decor type items. Piccolo is more of a store for the older crowd & antique hunters. It's not really for me but seems like it's always busy with people scouring around looking for that killer deal on antiques. read more

Very interesting store, and that's a compliment! I would give them three stars although they were the ONLY store open on a Monday in Belmont!! I can't say I'd recommend a stop at Piccolo unless you're already in Belmont putzing around (there's not much to do here, and a "short" look through this store will take up a lot of time!) The store itself is quite large, consisting of TWO levels and a plethora of vendors. Individual vendors own their own "spaces" while the two ladies running the shop have items throughout the store. I wish I had an eye for interior design or could picture individual items in classy ways. Unfortunately, all I see is STUFF, which I hate! I am a lover of minimalism and decluttering my house often, thus Piccolo was oddly overwhelming to me: every surface is covered [even the bathrooms!!]. However, whether you're looking for holiday decor: Christmas, Easter, etc., a funky gift for a friend or a special antique: if you're not terrified of becoming a hoarder, you're almost guaranteed to find something here! The vendors discount items often and you'll find an assortment of thing to make you smile, including bad grammar: "your beautiful in every single way!!", "Asian Schene" [scene] and "fills like silk" among other creative sayings. A local family member shops here often and told me if a vendor prices an item too low, the owners will buy it and re-sell it for double to triple the amount. I liked the downstairs better than the upstairs. As with all consignment shops it's all about what a vendor thinks there stuff is worth. 1/2 of the vendors think more of their stuff than realty - they are mostly upstairs. Downstairs there are some finds to be had. The staff is very nice and I would definitely visit again. read more

One of my absolute favorite antique shops! There are many different booths set up with a huge array of items. You can't walk through the place without finding something you like. I found a dresser listed by an associate (Cherie) of this antique mall on an online listing (OfferUp). I contacted the owner and was told the item was still available, made an offer at ASKING price and agreed on delivery at a scheduled time two days later. On day of delivery, an hour after the time of delivery I received a message from said owner that she had sold the dresser to someone else. VERY POOR CONDUCTION OF BUSINESS. There is definitely a lot to look at. They have tons of stalls/booths set up. The building is huge; they even have a downstairs. It does smell a bit "antiquey" when you first enter (kinda like grandmas house) but your nose will get used to it quickly.Some are jam packed and some well organized. Many of the booths run sales so keep your eyes peeled. If you want a real stuffed chicken, they have it...if you want an enormous wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, they have it. Good place to pop in and browse if you're in Belmont. It looks like they have an ice cream shop attached to the antique mall as well. read more

I've been a vendor and a shopper and this is the absolute WORST place!! Owner is extremely rude and she doesn't care about her vendors! If you're looking to open up a booth here..........think again! Incredibly disappointing, if you are looking for real antiques. Not for antique lovers or pickers! It reeks of potpourri. It is filled with people who label themselves "interior designers" and ruin beautiful pieces, by painting, distressing, calling them shabby chic, then charge more than the piece would have cost in pristine condition.
